Honestly, while a good bit more toned back, I think Bard's Song will always be one of my favorite songs of theirs. But they are extremely talented, so really pretty much anything of theirs is well worth checking out.
On the note of LOTR stuff though, BattleLore is always a good choice too. As far as I remember/know ALL their albums are based on JRRT's works.

I must recommend the studio version of the song Wheel Of Time by Blind Guardian.
It’s a long sprawling epic that really showcases Hansi’s vocals and there are so many wonderful vocal layers to digest in that song. It also has a tremendous orchestral score backing it up which you will gush over. Lyrically it is obviously about the Wheel Of Time fantasy book series by Robert Jordan.
    It ticks all the boxes!

    • @eskurian8565
      @eskurian8565 2 роки тому +2

Yes! Much more interesting vocally and total fantasy nerd food, as it's about the Wheel of Time series.

Knowing your "classical" background I'm 101% sure you'd love and appreciated the vocals and melody lines in "The Eldar" by Blind Guardian. Highly reccomending. What Hansi is doing there with his voice to the accompaniment of the piano it is pure shivers.

The choir sound is a big thing with BG. Hansi arranges the vocals and records many of the layers, but they also include band members and some other guests at times. It's still mostly Hansi in studio (minus a few specific songs that used separate choirs). Most of the songs' vocals live are arranged as 3,4, and 5 part harmonies for the band, and they are done very well. Seeing them pull it off live is quite an experience.

Yes! I was so happy to see you covering Blind Guardian. They’re on of my favorite bands and Hansi is an absolute legend. He been singing for so long and always been so consistent. Would love to see you cover more Blimd Guardian songs. There’s tons to choose from. “Majesty” is the first song from their first album and it’s one of their all time classics. “Somewhere far beyond” is a great one. “Nightfall” is arguably their most popular song and with good reason. It’s funny that Elizabeth mentioned them having a video game sound cause “Sacred worlds” and “children of the smith” are 2 songs they wrote for video games. “Violent shadows” and “Destiny” are 2 songs off the brand new album that I think would be great to cover as well…… but they have so much to choose from really lol.

Love to see more Blind Guardian on the channel! I will add my voice to the hordes calling for "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" as it is one of my favourite albums of all time - but you can't go wrong with anything from "Imaginations from the Other Side" either, and so many other classics. But the songs that I would most love to see you cover would be "Nightfall", "The Curse of Feanor", "Mirror Mirror", or "Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)".
On the subject of the vocal layering, Hansi has been doing this for a long time, but especially in the past 20 years or so, starting with the "A Night at the Opera" album where a veritable "choir of Hansis" was introduced (in the words of a wise album reviewer at the time). Blind Guardian are certainly one of, if not the most unique and relentlessly creative power metal bands of all time, and it's awesome to see you spreading the love!

One of his best vocal work and wonderful lyrics too, very moving. As you seem to love deep and touching lyrics, you certainly will be moved by this one.
And about Blood of the Elves, it's classic Power Metal, but at Blind Guardian level: the top of the top of this genre. Her vocals sound even better than they do on the perfectly mixed album (although the song deserves a full band). She's able to get 60.000 people to go quiet and pay attention with her singing in mere seconds.

I so appreciate your educating us drawing from your professional experience.
May I call your attention back to Nightwish, please? You’ve remarked in past reactions about Floor’s amazing breath control even while wearing leather. I just watched a video titled “Nightwish - The Siren (Live Special Video)” posted by Comunidade Night-wish where, in one particular section, Floor is wearing a knit top and the camera is focused on her belly movements as she sings. I would love to hear your input on what she is doing. (Marco does some sweet harmonizing here, as well.) Thanks, in advance.

I would love to see your analysis of The Small Faces Tin Soldier or Silver Tongue and Hawkwind's Brainstorm or Orgone Accumulator. There are plenty of You Tube videos of their music. Steve Marriot the lead guitarist and vocalist was brilliant. Sadly, passed away after leaving a cigarette burning while he fell asleep. Saw him in Cambridge shortly before he died, what a loss. His energy was amazing.

I'll definitely second Francesco Sirotti about "Nightfall in Middle Earth". By far my favorite and probably the only power metal album I listen to a regular basis. It's unbelievably well crafted, varied and passionate. Fast tracks, acoustic parts, a piano song heavily inspired by Queen ("The Eldar" - a true gem). My recommendations from that album would be "The Eldar" indeed, "Nightfall", "Blood Tears", "Time Stands Still (at the Iron Hill)". These ones are really the deepest to me. "Mirror, Mirror" which would probably get the more votes if you'd poll the album best track is another great song on it, I do love it too, but probably not the most appropriate to analyze on your channel. But well you can't go any wronf with any song off this album, it's a 12/10 kind of albums ;))

Very happy to see an analysis of a song from my all-time favourite band, hopefully we will see much more of Hansi on this channel! Recent pro-shot Blind Guardian live videos are great for analysis because Hansi probably sounds the best now live that he has in the past two decades which is just amazing for at over 50 years old. Very happy to have seen them recently on the Somewhere Far Beyond 30th anniversary tour.
Other great songs to check out for more Hansi in no specific order: When Sorrow Sang, Theatre Of Pain, Wheel Of Time, Bright Eyes, Battlefield, Fiddler On The Green (Demons & Wizards)
Oh and Hansi has a few Stormlight Archive related songs too: Violent Shadows from the new Blind Guardian album and Final Warning from the last Demons & Wizards album! 😀

Another incredible band to check out if you like fantasy inspired metal are Sojourner. They play atmospheric/folk black metal that is brimming with energy and emotion. They don’t necessarily inhabit one fantasy world, but explore that epic feeling, and often explore nature with their lyrics.
Their song Perennial is an absolutely fierce and beautiful track (they’re also on Napalm Records by the way Elizabeth.)

The nerd perspective is my favourite way of approaching Blind Guardian.
For example, I really loved their songs from the "Nightfall in middle-earth" album without having read Tolkien's Silmarillion, but it inspired me to read it and I gotta say, having experienced both the album AND the book has improved both manifold!
In order to figure out which song you want to listen to next I'd recommend going through the Blind Guardian discography, checking out which songs are about which books and pick a book you want to hear a song about.

Just a lot of greatness as always. Love your channel. Please please let there be more Blind Guardian 🙂 It's such a great trip everytime to be on the sonic train of BG that runs through the wonderlands of dark tales and myths. Crazy how Hansi sort of plays so many different parts and roles and also kind of has a "storyteller/narrative" voice for some parts so it almost feels like you are listening to a audiobook of awesomeness with magnificent song to go with it. Highly recommend something from Imaginations From The Other Side of Nightfall in middle-earth but to be honest there's always something extra nice with this band. Lifelong fan here, love that you are finding them too! Thanks ♥️

I want to suggest that you analyze "I'm not in love" by 10CC (yes TEN-C-C). Their use of the chromatic scale is unique (in the rock music). They created the song in 1973, and it is definitely one of my 10 all time greatest favourites. The group was rather experimental in their time and they used all the resources at their disposal, even the studio's secretary, to produce this masterpiece. With out revealing everything, ready yourself to be awed and surprised.

I would love to hear you react to Tommy Rogers and Between the Buried and Me! His ability to switch from belting, sonorous cleans to the craziest, ugliest growls you’ll ever hear is completely unmatched in my untrained opinion. Not mention the rhythmic ideas he employs are totally unique and weird - makes his voice fit in to an often near-cacophonous mix of some of the most technically proficient metal musicians, ever.
I personally recommend Swim to the Moon, or anything off their album ‘Colors’ (although it should be listened to in its entirety as it’s one 76-minute song split into 8 pieces).
