I have a wowgo 2s and a swagcycle and a jetson bolt. I bought this thinking i would have all the E Toys a man could use. I hated it. HARD ride, suspension is the worst- and the clanging and noise every time you hit a bump it brutal. Maybe its me used to being on pneumatic tires, but hey these scooters are not fun to ride. You would have to get me on one with rubber tires and heavy duty shocks to tolerate the ride.

Nice review - But i have a twow on the way now ;) - Id be interested if you did a video on ways to maintain your scooter or make any basic improvements out of the box (extra sealant? improving water resistance etc) - Just things you look at yourself to take care of your goods!

After working with this scooter for about 8 months, I have found quite a few things I changed and had issues with.
    My issues:
-Overheats, at top speed of 18.6 and throttles down after about 10 minutes of use. I installed 3d printed motor coolers and have mostly negated this issue.
-Rust, I have found despite constant cleaning the salt in my area(Ohio) has salted anything that isn't the aluminum frame
-The solid tires wore out after about 400 miles I assume due to a hard rubber. I replaced them with the same tires on the Xiaomi and have gotten much better ride quality.
-The brake cable got pinched due to being sealed too closely to the body. I had to order another one for $9 and have had no issues since.
-The disk brake applies force to only one side causing it to bend the rotor if impropperly adjusted.
-The bloody rubber grommits on the wires have an annoying tendancy to fall out. I replaced them with 3d printed parts.
-The rear fender broke on me 3 times but replacements are cheap on amazon. I printed a 3d reinforcement and have had no issues since.
-The handlebar grips can sometimes slide around if you apply too much force to them.
-The screws holding the plastic cover on the bottom are quite easily ground up by the pavement if you bottom out going over a sidewalk. I threaded new screws to replace the old machine screws.
    Reccomended tweaks:
-The brake rotor came slightly loose and I had to adjust it to get significantly better performance.
-Swapped out the solid tires with pneumatic tires.
-Remove the small plastic piece in the headlights that limits the light angle. The headlights are a lot brighter than they appear out of the box.
-Add a reinforcement bracket to the rear fender before it breaks, this is important unless you want to lose your fender.
-Tune the rear suspension to make it less stiff and more bouncy. This is easily done with a crescent wrench.
-Set the regenerative brakes to a higher power setting. They are extremely powerful, even more so than the disk brakes I often find at high speeds(less so at lower bc physics.)
Other than that I have had very few issues. It really is a fantastic scooter and at the time I bought it, the scooter was only slightly more costly than the m365. It was well worth it. In my experience talking with other scooter owners on my campus, I have found that I have had significantly less problems than those that own other scooters like the gotrax or M365.
    Some pros I've found:
-The latch mechanism in particular is one of the best features as you can fold and unfold it in about a fifth the time it takes for a gotrax to unfold and is significantly more reliable than the M365 latch
-The top speed is extremely nice. I constantly enjoy outrunning the other electric scooters on my campus.
-I've found the range is even better than the one advertised, being able to go 20 miles on a bike trail with a 30 lb backpack.
-The bell is really nice and is right beside the brake handle where it is needed. It is easy to use and gets people's attention.
-I've run over glass on a variety of occasions and the solid tires have just rolled along(with glass still embedded in them) without any issue.
-The rear suspension once properly tuned is absolutely amazing. If you switch over to air tires you basically do not feel any bumpy roads at all.
-The side lights that come with the scooter greatly increase my visibility at night while also netting me quite a few compliments from those around me.
I would definately say its worth the upgrade. Especially if this is your first scooter as it will prevent you from encountering many of the issues on the Xiaomi. If you want to upgrade you can. The scooter shares most of its parts with the Xiaomi making parts easy to find and relatively cheap.

Wow, quite the range. Im 225lbs and only get 6-7.5miles of range on flat road. I checked the rear wheel for any type of drag, there is none. I have 3 runs on this, 1st run i got 6 miles with a bad headwind. 2nd run 7.5 miles, no wind. 3rd a little wind at 7 miles. Is this normal for 225lb?

    • @reddeadlycreeper
      @reddeadlycreeper 3 роки тому +1

On my scooter ride I actually ran the battery down to 13% The last battery light indicator usually starts flashing at 25% If I had to guess.
Additionally the meter on the scooter is not fully accurate. Due to the resistance of the motor it will read lower, this is why the gauge will go up and down as the motor has to work harder. The gauge also works for me to about 10 miles before the scooter starts reading 1 bar, however the scooter is capable of more if you are willing to go beyond the gauge limits and estimate. Additionally the phone app gets a much more accurate reading of the battery percentage than the gauge itself.
I cannot speak for 225 Lbs, however I weigh 172 lbs and often carry significantly more weight on the scooter in my backpack. The scooter when carrying the extra weight gets significantly hotter causing it to be less efficient and throttle the motor (causing it to read the battery lower.) Additionally while the regenerative braking does work it does not work too well at temperature which will likely impact range if you brake a lot.
Accelerating a heavier object to a given speed will always require more force. As given by the KE = 1/2M*V^2 equation. Every time you stop you effectively take this many joules out of the battery minus inefficiency. This is why braking in cars is so detrimental to fuel efficiency.
For constant motion the scooter once up to speed has to fight rolling resistance(basically tire friction) this is the minimum power required to keep an object at a given speed. The general equation for generic friction is F = u*g where u is a coefficient of friction and g is the normal force which in this case is gravity. Twice the mass means double the rolling resistance and half the mass means half the friction.

The dashboard is also the same with the real Xiaomi Pro and the max speed is 30 kph. Bought it for about $320 (was able to haggled the price to around $306 cuz i paid it in cold cash). Battery died after 100 km (BMS issues). Upon checking, the 10s3p battery pack is comprised of generic 2500 mah 18650, with cheapie BMS. But the 250w hub motor, it's the exact motor the real Xiaomi scooter have.

Own two Xiaomi's (M365 Pro and M1 Swiss edition). Aftermarket front shocks were a cheap and very effective upgrade (about US$45 for a front suspension unit, delivered). The control module was also a cheap upgrade (to vers. 3, which provides more torque) after long use and a required replacement (price $30). Lastly, essential to use SLIME sealant for the tire tubes, to prevent/minimize chances of a flat.
Both a terrific scooters for my older teenagers...but underpowered for someone my size (6'1; 230#).

I think the suspension is best for uneven floor tiles. I have a m365 clone that has a max speed of 25kmh (on paper) I actually hit on average 29kmh and have hit 30 kmh. I added a front suspension kit which stops the shock from going into my arms when going over uneven floor tiles.
Also I recommend getting running trainers (the ones with the air bubbles) as this will also act as effective shock absorbers.

The regular S2 doesn't have that much range though, but it's still good.

Thanks Ben! It was good to see you again. I was watching Chuck and the Electric Scooter Guide live chat he has on Tuesdays at 5PM PST. He mentioned you because I think we were talking about the improving UK e-scooter situation. That Hiboy does have many positives over a 365. I love my Dualtron Compact but the solid tires do come at the price of some comfort. I rode my Mantis and Compact back to back doing a loop around San Francisco. The Mantis was so comfortable at speed that it made me want to ride it more. The Compact solid tires lowered my anxiety and the acceleration is so amazing. It is much faster off the line than the Mantis and it has to be one of the fastest off the line due to the smaller wheels. I hope you and your family are staying healthy.

@@BenFox01 I own 7 currently but I also have other PEVs :) The Dualtron Compact is my favorite. A stable 40MPH and solid tires are perfect for urban riding. I just pulled out a pretty long shard of glass embedded in the rear tire. It would have definitely punctured a pneumatic tire. I find tire sealants to be a 50/50 proposition so there is a good chance I would have been walking home again on the Mantis. Stay safe my friend!

whats your thoughts on 30/6/20 'legalisation' of e-scooters in britain??? i think they are going all wrong about it and hope YOU will use your platform to make a point..... i own a 365 pro and love it, but this rentals only legality thing is wrong, heres why..... almost everyone who rents will be a 1st timer, they take a little getting used to, and like anything rental, will most likely not be used as safely as owners would use them, so this 'trial period' based on renters is gonna throw back all the wrong kind of results for us owners moving forward, please help!!!!

I own the max. It has the headlight up top by handlebars maybe you can be seen better and road better. Blue instead of red side led lights are cool and great to be seen. Front suspension instead of rear and is very noisy when going over larger bumps which is only what it’s useful for. Also the biggest difference is the larger deck which comes with more weight than the S2. Customer service was excellent when my headlight went out. Actually ended up sending me a whole new scooter after trying different fixes. Careful on wet roads and street paint though with these stiff tires that carve really excellent.

Battery died but app says 24% remaining? Actually, this is quite possible. Recently, I built by own lithium battery for my Puzey Motors eScooter. My choice of BMS (Battery Management System) electronics is designed to only allow the use of the middle 80% of the battery's power. Battery could therefore be between 0-10% charged but not usable. Why? Lithium batteries can deteriorate very quickly when they are used in the 0-10% and 90-100% ranges of their capacities - even more so when they are over-charged. So, this BMS deliberately only allows the user access to the middle 80% of the battery's capacity.
HIBOY are likely to have protected the S2's battery in a similar way - but not quite calibrated the battery to the app properly!

Top speed was the same, I bought a separate head light to conserve battery life. And the self charge feature did work for me. Rolling down a hill less then a 1/4 mile long going 16mph gave me about a bar worth of power. If your not beating on it and being conservative you can get some distance out of it.
