I met Elvis once briefly at Graceland. He was truly personable and very friendly. Unfortunately, as the years passed he became self destructive. The person he hurt the most was himself. He is by far and away the best on stage performer who ever lived. It's nice to know that he was truly loved in some of his relationships. Everyone deserves that.
I read where his mother Gladys once stated, just before her passing, that she felt the family was happier when they were poor.
Honestly, fame and fortune are not always all they are cracked up to be. In spite of everything, Elvis Presley was truly a good human being and that makes all the difference....

One that is often over looked because he was young (1955-1957)and it was prior to the Memphis Mafia - June Juanico. It was before fame, and into the year he became a star both musically & Movie Star! She was the love of his life too. Once you read her book, you find June's memory sprinkled throughout his life. She was the one that got away! She was who Elvis was trying to recreate with Priscilla. He bought Graceland FOR HER (Eventually his Mom cause June Left him), she started his spiritual book obsession & The Prophet by Khalil was given to him by her July of 1956... it was on his night stand the day he died in 1977. He bought other copies (by the case from the publisher) and gave them to friends but always kept her original, the picture of her & him together were in his office his whole life, they (June & Elvis) came up with the TCB 🤣 code for the Memphis mafia (Red, Gene & The guys) aka The Cherry Busters 🤭🤫, she died her hair black and he LOVED them matching with both blue eyes... sound familiar? Gladys loved her so much she told Elvis to marry her. He recorded songs he sang to her all through out his life. He checked on her through out their lives last time in 1977. She even met him at the movies in 1965, and all the guys knew exactly who she was - called her by name when they seen her in randomly in Memphis then invited her to the movies to suprise Elvis. Elvis and her picked names for their babies, Lisa Marie was for the girl they chose. Marie is a family name for June. She seen him in Vegas several times, the MM spotted her & would upgrade her seat to stage side. Once escorted back stage at the request of Elvis, He pulled her into a closet and told her he loved her more then he had ever loved anyone and thought of her his entire life. He asked if they made the right choices splitting up, and said he would take her if she just said the word... she told him she was married and had children and was happy. She said he told her 1956 was his most cherished time of his life and he quoted from the Prophet which is the title of her book. Those same verses he wrote in his Bible, Inside 'The Impersonal Life' (another book he gifted by the thousands) and on a small card in his wallet he carried his entire life.
I own a bunch of auction catalogs and I find pieces of June sprinkled on notebooks, in Journals with their numerology, even while he was with Priscilla & Linda. I am Happily married myself but I too look back at my first love with a full heart. To be young again!
Here is the verses he & she shared from The Prophet:
It was but yesterday we met in a dream.
You have sung to me in my aloneness,
and I of your longings have built a tower in the sky.
But now our sleep has fled and our dream is over,
and it is no longer dawn.
The noontide is upon us and our half-waking has turned to fuller day,
      and we must part.
If in the twilight of memory we should meet once more,
we shall speak again together and
you shall sing to me a deeper song.
And if our hands should meet in another dream
we shall build another tower in the sky.
If in the twilight of memory we should meet once more, we shall speak again together and you shall sing to me a deeper song.
And if our hands should meet in another dream, we shall build another tower in the sky.

@johnnynotenglish9751 he wasn't weak. He chose his yes men. The one he should have stood up to was the colonel. He stole millions from Elvis over the course of his career as well as keeping him from doing overseas tours and any serious acting. Why......because he was the suspect in a murder in Poland and didn't have a passport, nor could he get one with a fake name.

    • @greenthumbmary5970
      @greenthumbmary5970 Рік тому

@johnnynotenglish9751 everything I've read said he was from Poland. Three of his friends (since high school) tried to get him to quit.... Red West, Sonny West, and Dave Hebler. The colonel and Dr Nic kept Elvis dependent on them.....and on the drugs. I have a large number of books written about Elvis, and "Elvis What Happened" was the most direct and to the point book I've read. The book written by George Klein was also one I would say is more factual. It's sickening to think how much more Elvis could have accomplished if it hadn't been for the colonel and Dr Nic. BTW.....I just ran to my Elvis room and double checked. I have a few books that say the colonel was from the Netherlands. I checked a number of other ones that say Poland. We may really NEVER know.

@johnnynotenglish9751 I really don't care where the thieving Colonel came from. I do know that he and Dr Nic worked together on keeping Elvis dependent on pills. Elvis thought that if they were prescribed that it was ok. There are many books that have been written concerning the wrong the colonel did to Elvis and his family. He was a snake.

Serenity, only God ciuld have cured Elvis if the nine medical issues he had, mostly genetuc and ones his mom also had, among ither family members. His prescriptions were to treat these disorders.Sleep issues is one if the biggest medical disorders in the US and worldwide. His dead nerves in his colon finally led to his demise. Linda could not have cured that. She took great care if him but she was too young, and he likely never told her, to know the extent of his medical issues. He told others such as Kathy Westmoreland. I want to read her out of print book but the price is about $700..She has video interviews discussing his health issues and hiw positive he alwayd was, regardless of the circumstances.

WOW! WOW! WOW! As a LIFE LONG FAN & ELVIS HISTORIAN - I OWN over 75 books on the King! They include Autobiographies of Wives, Girlfriends, Employees, family, co-stars, Band mates, producers, artists, friends and fans! YOU did your research! You even got Priscilla's story straight! Even the time-line! Elvis waited for marriage with Anita, so he dated her all those years 1957-1963 with her living at Graceland and never having had sex with her. That tells you everything you need to know about Religious views, Respect for the ones he loved and how hard he tried to honor his Momma.
He was a rare and Dynamic once in a lifetime person. What a gift he was to America and to the world. Elvis spent his entire life trying to figure out why he was chosen, and what his purpose in life was. He ultimately came to the conclusion it was to make people happy, to share his gift, spread the Gospel and to give back. He looked at charity as his was of Tithing for Jesus. He was too famous to attend church, without disruption of the entire service. There is a book over 600 pages called The Best of Elvis: Reflections of a Great Humanitarian by Cindy Hazen & Mike Freeman, it tells the story. He did WAYYYYYYYYYYYY MORE THEN THIS!!!! He Donated the funds to have ST Jude built so every child with Cancer gets free treatment - even today, He bought the presidential yacht and donated it at auction to fund ST Jude too, He donated the money to complete the Kennedy Center in memory of JFK and declined to be the first to play as the founding member because he didn't want to seem political, He donated the funds for the USS Arizona in Hawaii to remember all the lives lost on DDay, He ended the Polio Epidemic inspiring 86% of America's youth to get vaccinated, He funded 500,000 European Refugees food, housing & relocation via Red Cross Donations. He funded an entire trauma wing at Midsouth memorial so 4 states of poor & youth can have free trauma care, he donated over 300 Cadillac alone, 300 brick homes, thousands of funerals, chemo treatments, millions of individual gifts of Jewelry, clothes, instriments, animals, make a wish were at every concert, hospital visits, even spent every night outside his home in Memphis, Beverly Hills & LA signing autographs, in the 1950's he even let fans that came from out of town CAMP ON HIS LAWN IN TENTS!!, He bought his childhood home in Tupelo and built a childs recreation center for poor kids, He signed autographs and gave fans tours at all the movie studios, even gave full fundraising concerts for Cancer fundraising, hurricane & tornado relief every year of his life from 1956, Elvis has donated to the same 55 MAJOR charities since the year he signed his 1956 contract even now every year 45yrs after his death. He gave away 86% of his ENTIRE lifetime earnings! Never wrote one donation off on his taxes besides being 95% of income bracket. Giving was his way of tithing for Jesus. He felt like the more he gave, the more God blessed him.
These are only a mere FRACTION of his gifts! Google: Elvis Philanthropy and learn about the real Elvis. He was wonderful.

Linda was the best thing that happened to Elvis in his last years, in my opinion, she saved his life several times, including by bringing him to the hospital and, every time he was in the hospital, she asked to be hospitalized with him to be able to stay with him 24 hours a day. I even saw a short video where he was having a short walk around the hospital and Linda was hugging him all the time. I read a few biographies of Elvis, including the book by the Memphis Mafia guys, and everyone spoke so highly about her. He was destined to die young, as he has so many health issues, but definitely, if she would have been still there, he wouldn't have died that night, as she trained herself to not fall asleep until he did.
