Early 50s as a boy, my Mother was a Dancer. Dad a singer. She would boogie -woogie around our house & grab my brother or me to dance. Great memories. Rest in Peace Mom You could really Boogie !!
We use to do the Jitterbug back in the 1940's and 50's to this music but... No one ever brought it up to this high level! It takes the Europeans to ratchet it up to the zenith of Rock and Roll!
You are mistaken Pete. Americans could do this type of dancing as well. On fact, it stared in America and was especially popular during the war years and for about 7 years or so after.
Your probably right rowwdy. My remarks were for what little I knew back then. I'm still a spring chicken as I'm only 7 decades old. But...Thanks for the reply. Good luck! Pete
I wasn't trying to be rude or snotty Pete. One of my dearest friends will be 71 soon and she taught me how to do some of the old dances. Man, could she dance. She learned from her mother who danced through the late 20's, 30's and 40's. I have ALWAYS loved dancing.
Agnieszko i Grzegorzu, miło było was oglądać i posłuchać. Jak będziecie kiedyś występowali w PL to dajcie znać, przyjadę na pewno. BW to jest to. Ta energia i wdzięk robią swoje. Tańczcie tak dalej.
This clip features two great boogie songs! 1. 'Breaking Up the House' by Tipitina and 2. 'Rock and Roll' by Jerry Lee Lewis! Nice additions to any toe-tapping music collection! Thanks for a fun rockin' good posting!
I can visualize the wartime folks dancing like tomorrow will never come. For some it didn't. Made it all the more urgent to put 100% into life's offerings. Dance was an important slice of living for many of them. It's a fact that the folks that paid the ultimate sacrifice allowed following generations the freedom to express themselves freely. It should never be taken lightly and never be forgotten. Embrace your life journey. You only have one. ,
Excellent! The nve ratings are from those that either didn't win, don't know how to dance or don't like Boogie Woogie and got here by accident. Thanks for sharing.
When I was a kid, my parents used to boogie in the living room...till the point it freaked my sis and me out. But now after all these years I watch this video and I would give an arm and a leg to see them dance one more time

Csodálatos ez a tánc! A sok feministának, meg ki tudja kiknek üzenem: a tánc igenis szexista. Megmutatja milyen a férfi-nő kapcsolat. Nem alárendelt egyik nem sem a másiknak, ez egy harmónia, kölcsönösen kiegészítik egymást. Úgy szép, ahogy van.
Crazy there is enough interest in Boogie Woogie for there to be a world championship in 2013. I do not understand where these youngish people are learning this dance that has not been popular for many decades.
Amen to that! People dont dance anymore, they just stand around and maybe bounce a little like they are constipated. And many times most youth are just looking to fight. They will fight ,but they wont dance.
Oh don't you know it! To be young and skinny again and dance like that. When I was young and dancing every weekend I was skinny as a rail. Then life takes over and you have a job and responsibilities and there's no time for that anymore. Grab it while your young and swing off it kids!
Seriously, legitimately, the flips and throws - "Eh, neat I guess..." but the foot work - OH MY GOD HOW DO THEY DO THAT??!?! I would trip and fall if I tried walking and thinking about that at the same time.
Desde el año 1967 al 72 en mis temas de Elvis siempre llevaba una pareja para bailar en la pista. Bueno esas ocurrencias ya no afloran. que pena. From Madrid. España. Eddy Nova.
Yeah, I thought so too. But did you notice Katie that when the female M.C. introduced the dancers. She mentioned that Thorbjorn and Susanne were from Norway but never said that Magnus and Anita were from there as well. Mmmm strange I think. Just something I noticed that's all. Kev
I've never actually seen this kind of dance done to Rock 'N Roll music - not in the day. This is more of a Lindy. Pleasant as the video may be, it's anachronistic.
Sounds like the great Jerry Lee Lewis on keyboards. I used to dance this way when it was popular in the 50s; I love couples dancing; great show; Germans love rock n roll, ey?
