Good Grief is one of those songs that are actually pretty sad with a upbeat rythm and this version just gave it a more vulnerable side

In September 2017 a friend of me died, this song was played on his funeral. He died after his brain surgury went wrong, he was 17 years old. When I watch stuff like this my musician heart really bursts because I would die to do this for a living. But some things aren't meant to be. I'm so happy that Bastille made it though! They really deserve it.

People don't really talk about this but this band has one of the most gorgeous harmonies consistently. It's so full and gives their songs so much depth. There's usually some amazing 3 or 4-part harmonies during their choruses that most people would have to hire chorus/backup singers to do. They're not all just talented musicians but wonderful and skilled vocalists. They should consider doing a stripped down acoustic / a capella album. I'd listen the hell out of that shit.
The fact that dan gets so emotional during the penultimate chorus really shows how passionate he is about their music, and how every word means something to him

when I am happy I can listen the original version. But when I am sad, I can listen the accoustic one. It's strange how that song still makes sense in the two ways....
This version of this song is genuinely one of the most beautiful things my ears have ever had pass through them in 36 years.
this is gorgeous bc the whole point of the original is that it is "good" grief like being pop-y despite being such a sad subject. they really break it down in this version and take away that irony to give this gorgeous gorgeous cover.

As someone who's had to grow up as the one who always had to keep their head, it got hard sometimes and only when I was by myself could I break down and release the emotional build up. It feels like you just lose everything. Even to this day. Spiritual level stuff.
