YOU! GUYS! ROCK! But wait, we don't have to write and edit code? A missing comma won't send our project to parts unknown? Where's the fun in that? Great tutorial by the way. Very easy to follow.
Great application. Any plans to make some Board Maker Tutorials in the future. I could use a bit of help with this. I am trying to create more complex boards and I am hoping there is a way to do this in the board maker itself. Currently I am printing the boards and then pasting text printed with a label printer separately on to the board tiles afterwards.
1. Upload some images (see image library tab). 2. Simply create an image zone in the layout editor, and then when you get to the component editor (with the table) you can choose one of your uploaded images.
This program seems absolutely incredible!! I was wondering how it handles low resolution card art? My game uses exclusively pixel art and a 4-color palette, even the text is, with each letter being 4x5 pixels. How easy would it be for me to make sure nothing goes off the pixel grid? It seem that even at low resolutions, borders and shapes in dextrous act like vectors (unless im wrong here)
Borders and shapes work like vectors yep, but if you have a strict grid I think you should be fine. Your art should still look pixelly if the pngs are pixelly if that makes sense. Hit us up on the Discord if you have any more specific questions.
So I've made a frame and sync'd it with Google Sheets. How can I add symbols to the google sheets cell so that Dex will add the symbol to the frame. I need to edit energy costs for cards. I know someone did it in a spreadsheet that was used as a tutorial, but the adding of colored symbols was unexplained.
@@DextrousGameDesign And make sure you spell the icon name correctly. Spent a lot of time scratching my head trying to figure out why {Icons/swords.png} wasn't working for me, only to realise it was actually meant to be sword.png :)
The table rows ARE the other cards if that makes sense. Click on the card and duplicate it (ctrl+D) then you'll see another table row appear, which you can edit :)
I can see a lot o passion went into this prodject! Great job! And thank you!!!
Thanks for watching!
discovered this a few days ago and its amazing! next level tool, thanks for the tutorials too
Glad you enjoy it!
This is just what I've been searching for. Thanks a lot ✨
You're welcome 😊

Yeah definitely. Might also be worth jumping on the discord and telling me what kind of complex boards you're hoping to make tbh.
Any updates for the board maker coming soon? How about components besides cards such as tokens? Having a lot of fun so far!
Hey mate so tokens can already be made in the layout editor :) Just choose the right layout when you create the layout.
I know this is technically for prototyping, but cards made using this software free to use commercially as long as the stock images are not used?
100%. :)
@@DextrousGameDesign what about the text fonds?
So you can't use the stock photos they give you here if you want to publish your game? A lot of them look very generic and not from a specific game.
That's correct. Gotta go get your own art
thx! and how can you add pictures to the differently named cards..?
1. Upload some images (see image library tab).
2. Simply create an image zone in the layout editor, and then when you get to the component editor (with the table) you can choose one of your uploaded images.

(total card size is 125x175)

Thanks for your word selection in the intro, now everyone thinks I'm watching something dirty and I got kicked out of the library 👍
"Quick and dirty" is a common phrase 😅. There's nothing sus about it heheh.
Sorry to hear you got kicked out of the library though! That's rough. 😢
Oh no!

In a text cell, you can insert inline images like this:
{folderName/tree.png}
Just make sure the foldername is correct :)

@@DextrousGameDesign So you have to make sure the "tree.png" is in your google drive, in the same directory layer as the sheet itself?
I'm going to be real, I have absolutely no idea wtf i'm doing in dextrous
Let us know what you're struggling with and we can help! 😊
@@DextrousGameDesign I got it solved, Thank you
can this be done with dice?
Do you mean dice for TTS? Not yet, but it's on our list :)
@@DextrousGameDesign Would love to see that.
@@DextrousGameDesign has this been added by chance?
How to edit other cards i only see edit layout

sadly the text in the download is wraped and huuuge
I believe this means you're not using Chrome :). Fyi atm we officially support Chrome only although some are having luck in Edge.
Has the text tool got moved? cant find it
Hey mate, which text tool sorry?
