True story Ben. I was a poor kid. My first "16-bit" purchase was a Turbo Grafx straight out of the bargain bin. CD unit, turbo tap, and Express portable were soon to follow. I got all my games for a pittance, especially when Babadges was going out of business. We are talking less than a dollar cheap. The funny part was..my friends with SNES and Genesis always wanted to play my Turbo. Splatterhouse, Ninja Spirit and Legendary Axe 2 we're favorites.
That "hold down, then up + attack" motion is actually pretty common in Street Fighter, such as for moves like... Chun-Li's spin kick. So yeah Raging Fighter really earns zero points for originality at the end of the day.
Good stuff, and when you started talking about Raging Fighter and GB fighting games I immediately thought back to my absolute favorite, but if we're being pedantic (which I am) counts as a different console because it's a GB Color game. That being Power Quest, which turns out does go for cheap even CIB according to PriceCharting. And fun fact, Neo-Geo carts are the same as the MVS, so they're interchangeable IIRC
Thanks to Takara, the Gameboy has a surprising number of good fighting games. Some people still swear 8-bit Toshinden is an improvement over the original. World Heroes Jet, KOF 96, and Samurai Shodown are all worth hunting down. But I really hope you try the Fist of the Northstar game developed by Toei and published by Electro Brain. I had to go back and play Pitfighter afterwards, just to feel clean again.
Can you link the first entry to the series in your notes? In the opener, you recommend watching the first one. I’m happy to go to your channel and scroll through for it, but a direct link would be a nice addition.
