Playing The Zildjian 22 Swish Knocker With My Pearl Masters Drums

The Zildjian 22 inch Swish Knocker Cymbal is a wonderful cymbal to play on. I have not seen to many drummers use this special effect cymbal. I know Peter Erskine plays on a 22 inch Swish Knocker. The great Buddy Rich used this Swish Knocker from 1979 to 1987. I use it all the time with my Ken Loomer Big Band for riding and big crash endings. I love the over-all sound of this swish cymbal. It has a lower pitch with the cymbal being on the thin side. Also with the 20 rivets, I like to ride on it on medium tempo jazz songs. It`s great to play on it with the off beats on rock charts that I do with my Big Band. Mel Lewis always used a swish cymbal for his set-up. I also use this Swish Knocker with my small jazz group at times. The Pearl Masters drums I`m using has that big wide open sound which fits the music I play very well. I`m using the 24 inch bass drum, 9x13 tom, two 16x16 floor toms, a 10 inch side tom, and the wonderful Masters 5.5x14 inch snare drum. All drums are 6 ply maple. I really enjoy playing this 22 inch Zildjian Swish Knocker Cymbal.

I love playing on these 22 inch Zildjian Swish Knocker cymbal. It has a great sound for riding and of course wonderful for that big crash ending.

Nice sustain on that swish, Charlie Watts used two smaller ones as crash cymbals, UFIP's.

I did not know Charlie Watts used two swish cymbals as crash cymbals. I will have to look at some video`s of Charlie`s cymbal set up with the Stones.

I saw a video and Charlie Watts explained he uses a 18 inch swish cymbal on his left side and a old 17 inch A Zildjian crash cymbal on his right side.

Ken is the splash cymbals on your pearl kit an add on by you?

Since this is a custom made Pearl Masters drum set for me, the splash and ride bracket were put on by Pearl.
