These common exchanges -- just one person to another -- are the key to big change. We shouldn't expect elected officials or 'experts' to speak for us. Thank you for being courageous and sane.
As someone who works in the airline industry this is closer to the truth than you know. We have to do computer generated computer learnings on DEI. It better change soon or it's only a matter of time. A southwest jet came within 60 feet of the control tower a few weeks back. They were not even close to lining up with the runway. Alot of close.calls aren't breaking thru to the news.
A Southwest flight was within 500 feet of landing in a sw suburb of Oklahoma City. And it's been hush-hush. Oh, but "the FAA has been notified,.and there is an investigation going on...:
Wow. That's a new category of near miss--A landing jet coming within sixty feet of a control tower. Scary. No; that never made the news. (How is that near miss even possible? It's a first; with all of the flight deck precision landing assist.)
@@Brian-kl1zu I had not heard of this either, but it did make the news, 'Southwest Flight 147 came within 67 feet of the air traffic control tower' from April.
Less Diversity - More Quality = Outsourcing to the lowest cost bidder. If you want Diversity you can't just outsource all the engineering to India and expect things to work. India has great chip designers and aerospace engineers, but you got to have quality control in the USA making equally important contributions. TI, Boeing, Broadcom and others have huge Indian workforces. But TI kept the US factories and most of its us engineering.
It doesn't help their recruiting when the Commander in Chief bad mouth a demographic. A demographic that accounted for the vast majority of combat casualties in Afghanistan.
It's not just the diversity quota that makes boing planes have quality issues. It is also because boing wants to save money by hiring less educated personal and also due to lack of good inspectors. It's basically because of corporate greed. Greed ruins societies.
Well, this video is a spoof, and while DEI is a massive issue, that's not exactly the whole story. Boeing used to be run by engineers. Then one day the bean counters became in charge, and made a series of bad decisions that would drain them of the funding necessary for designing new aircraft. After a few gimmicky attempts to design for cheap, they had even less money, and sold off their production facilities while pulling the "genius" move of trying to get the now separate production facilities to build components to meet a spec without having designed anything. This lost them more money. Then the DEI came in and dealt the final rivet in the coffin... or maybe they forgot that rivet. Point is, long-time workers who cared for the company were replaced by people with no willingness to attach themselves to anything but themselves, like inspectors who don't inspect. So, while DEI is sabotaging their new talent and eliminating the last few bulwarks against bad business practices, the issues started decades before because they put accountants in charge of an engineering company. Intel has learned this lesson the hard way, and now are starting to get back to being the best in technology with Pat Gelsinger, an engineer, who is now the CEO. Boeing still has a chance, since they're more military than civilian. And they partnered with SAAB to create the newest training jet/cheap fighter called the T-7 (the new T-38/F-20, if you will). They'll probably sell several hundred, if not, over a thousand. If Boeing disappears in the civilian market, they'll still be around where the engineers are at least still considered important.
Titan submersible springs to mind. Recruiting from a specific demographic (a tiny one) and ignoring the majority of qualified engineers, pilots and designers can ONLY have a negative impact on outcomes.
Boeing, or NASA, had nothing to do with the submersible. Boeing sold some composite material and NASA rented some hangar space to them. His claims of Boeing, NASA and the Navy helped in the design of the submersible is a lie. So your example is a poor choice.
@@MichaelRoberts-t7c You missed his whole point. He wasn't equating NASA w/ the submersible water heater. Main point: Ignoring/rejecting the people who know what they're doing. Not to mention throwing merit into the trash.
@@Brian-kl1zuthe submersible owner tried to tie NASA, Boeing and the Navy in the design of the submersible to give it creditability. They never had any involvement in the design. Cheesey engineering did him in.
I got mt A&P ticket back in 1988. This kind of garbage was going on at American Airlines in their maintenance department even back then. You had to check at least 2 boxes on the diversity checklist before you even had a prayer at getting an interview.
Yes, I have worked for a couple of companies where the owner is a child and grandchild of the founder. They don't have the passion of the founder, in fact some were not bright and should never have been in charge of a company. Heredity works until it doesn't!!
Its not though, while I usually like babylon bee, this is just blatantly false. Its not DEI getting in the way of safety, its the company itself getting in the way of safety
yeah, they do that. Just take a look at something like the 757, VERY low accident history. At least 9 fatal accidents have involved a B757, which turns into 7 because 2 of those were hijackings on *you know when* but yeah Boeing has been going downhill recently
Boeing CEO: stop the pandering. Run the airline and can the corporate pandering. The community of gay people are doing just fine. They’re in a free country.
Maybe because of fear of losing military contracts. All of the CEOs etc are scared of the government and that has taken precedence over making money. Disney for example. They knew/know that the path they are on is losing them money. There is a much more sinister thing happening. Straight capitalism would solve this issue. This is happening because the big shots are afraid. In fact bring back "lazy-fair" capitalism and we will have safely and good movies, low prices.
Why? Because cutting costs in any way possible means profit for shareholders. Guy was just doing what he was hired to do, and doing it well. Of course they pay him 30 million he probably saved them 3 billion by outsourcing everything to China. Now let's keep pretending this is about diversity and not greed.
First off, I don't care what the CEO makes, I'm not a welfare slob union worker. Second, Boeing mechanics not getting a raise in 16 years is a flat out lie. Boeing is an awful company, but you're also awful for being a union slob liar.
So why, in approx a century, haven't the machinists accumulated enough shares to have some influence over the board of directors? Everybody wants to tell others what they can do with private property, but none of them will ever put up the investment capital.
@@cardboard9124 The Starliner has had more delays and issues in the past few years than you can shake a stick at. The final responsibility lies with Boeing for buying the parts and not testing them properly. If their contractors can't deliver good products, they need to find better ones.
@@VainerCactus0 It isn't their fault, its literally too late for them to get new parts. They already have contracts, they have already sunk lots of money into the project, and it has already docked to the ISS.
@@cardboard9124 Boeing was given 2 billion dollars more than SpaceX to fly crew to the ISS. SpaceX has flown several crews to the ISS and I believe two private missions with more on the cards. Boeing had to fly an extra unmanned mission because NASA didn't trust they had fixed all the issues found in the first unmanned test flight. I don't think it is appropriate to give Boeing and benefit of the doubt here. If SpaceX can handle their Crew Dragon as well as they have so far, why is it OK for Boeing to fail the taxpayer this hard? Those two test pilots lives could be in danger if they get back into Starliner as it re-enters the atmosphere. If Boeing decides to outsource a job to another company, the responsibility for the failure lies with Boeing. The company that was given 4+ billion dollars to do a job for the taxpayers. They made the choices.
Instead of focusing on diversity companies should just focus on making the best product or service. Companies can attract people of all backgrounds by being the best at something because everyone wants to be apart of a company who is doing something great.
How dare you suggest that they don't use racist policies to fight racism. Don't you know that judging people based on their actions and the content of their character, instead of their race, makes you a racist in modern culture.
Of course, you don't want every manufactured part looking and performing exactly the same, do you? You want to exclude the parts that are not straight or coloured different? Bigot.😅
They talk a lot of crap about wanting to replace White Pilots but I can tell you firsthand that this is NOT HAPPENING because there simply aren't any Black applicants in the pool. NONE! They are a lost race.
Given how much trouble Boeing has had with rockets recently it's even more funny. Although for the Starliner situation, the rocket was perfectly fine, it was the part build by Boeing, the capsule itself, that went wrong.

Less diversity - More quality
You do know that there were more airplane fatalities back when they employed exclusively white males?
krakr🍘
Less Diversity - More Quality = Outsourcing to the lowest cost bidder.
If you want Diversity you can't just outsource all the engineering to India and expect things to work. India has great chip designers and aerospace engineers, but you got to have quality control in the USA making equally important contributions. TI, Boeing, Broadcom and others have huge Indian workforces. But TI kept the US factories and most of its us engineering.
Less EQuality = More Quality
You heard word of God
1:58 I am a bigot.
"If u dont like to fly with us, then please....... the doors are always open"
If diversity is their first priority this explains everything!😢
Diversity is now also the US military's highest priority, and we can all see how well that's been working out.
Safety 3rd.
Now the only question is what was 2nd?

Yep that is the perfect example
Boeing, or NASA, had nothing to do with the submersible. Boeing sold some composite material and NASA rented some hangar space to them. His claims of Boeing, NASA and the Navy helped in the design of the submersible is a lie. So your example is a poor choice.
