- The Citroen Basalt is a five-seat compact SUV. Its distinctive appearance is attributed to the sloping roofline, which is described as an SUV Coupe. The Basalt is Citroen’s third affordable model for the Indian market, following the C3 and C3 Aircross.
The Basalt will compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Tata Curvv. We also expect Citroen to undercut most of its direct competitors and to compete with vehicles from the sub-compact SUV segment.

I felt...Citroen india has studied a lot about our road conditions and came out with the best safety and convenience features, leaving behind the unnecessarily hyped things like engine Stop start button, sunroof, cruise control etc...
I have Honda City which has cruise control which i hardly used in my 7 yrs given the traffic situation on highway in india.
I really liked all the goodies coming with basalt it's over all a excellent package and worth considering.
If Citroen works on their service network, this car might change their fate in india.
C3 aircross is also a great product but ppl buying car at that price tend to keep their car for longer duration and that's where they don't find enough trust in this brand having very less service outlets even in metro cities

Most neat & Clear Review .... This man is under rated.... Request to cardekho send him only to review new cars ... BTW I think both Citroen & Tata looses the great opportunity of leading the compact SUV segment & most ambitious shape in Indian Market by launching the Basalt with less Features & Curvv with less space... Many people are disappointed by knowing that the curvv uses different Atlas Platform but for Cost saving they uses everything of nexon.... Companies should first think Selling of their product & then cost cut instead of cost cutting first....

I think basalt rear suspension should be lowered and also a little thinner section of black cladding on sides can improve looks when looking from bad angle

I don't get why people are calling Basalt Value for money or cheap. The base model price is literally 9 Lakhs on road which is the exact same (even slightly higher) as it's competitors Venue, Sonet & Fronx since it's pitched in the same segment.
Comparing Basalt with Curvv is just pointless as they are entirely different segment cars. So the price difference will be obvious.
Improve your knowledge brother, these cars are under sub four meter car, and basalt is above four meter even longer than Creta seltos. So basalt is not the same segment as sonet venue

It could be better if they slightly increase the price of this car and provide some basic features likes better infotainment,digital screen,better tyres,good looking door handles and they should also enhance their front profile it looks cheap

The Basalt mileage is 18 to 19.5 kmpl. The Automatic Petrol variant has a mileage of 18.7 kmpl. The Manual Petrol variant has a mileage of 18 kmpl.

@@mista.km79 pure driving means solid ride and handling balance which is Citroen's core strength. No Kia currently on sale can match it. In terms of pure driving, only Ford, VW and Skoda can match Citroen.
