John Cena could easily have his swan song at Wrestlemania and just leave. But we are going to get a year of this man on our television. Say what you want about John Cena but he cleary wants to give back to the business. You can tell he loves the fans, and wrestling. He hasn't forgotten his humble beginnings. People need to cherish this last year of Cena. He was taken for granted for so many years. He's a legend. Thank you big match John for all the memories
Probably doesn't have enough movie projects so not coincidentally he's free to "give back"
Cena is a star and August has a movie coming out on Amazon Prime. I doubt he has trouble finding any movie roles fr
what can u say on cena screw the haters !and the taken for granted thing yeah wrestling fans don't dereve him honestly you got what u wanted next thing when he passes u gonna love him like no tomorrow its pathetic !
Give back what?! lol some of our time being wasted on watching him run down to the ring and pandering to fans and burying people? Lol
@@flyguy7825You mean like...most wrestlers?
Solomonster, remember that in the US and Puerto Rico, the Peacock deal for PLE's expires at WM 42, but internationally, those PLE's will be aired on Netflix. Another thing, we gotta remember that starting October 2024 until September 2029, WWE will have 4 yearly specials on NBC. I definitely see Cena's retirement being an NBC special.
Punk, Orton, and Styles are definitely must-have matches. Those three guys are definitely in the Top 6 or 7 of Cena’s greatest career rivals and it would be a sweet tour of memory lane to have one final match with each of them.
I would love to see that, especially him and CM Punk the matches the promos they had
Punk is garbage when it comes to wrestling… Randy, AJ , Bron Breaker would be solid picks .
2024 is gonna mark 2 decades since I started watching WWE at 4 years old. This year I turned 24 and John Cena has basically been a part of my entire life as a wrestling fan. We’ve seen top stars said farewell but to now see John Cena reaching the end of his story is something that is going to be challenging to come to terms with. He is pretty much my wrestling hero and I did had the honor to meet him at NYCC 2021. 2025 will truly mark an end of an era
List of opponents:
Greatest Hits:
• AJ Styles
• Kevin Owens
• Seth Rollins
• CM Punk
• Roman Reigns
• Brock Lesnar
Other Great 1v1s:
• Cody Rhodes
• Drew McIntye
• Rey Mysterio
• Dom Mysterio
• Gunther
• LA Knight
• Logan Paul
Last Match: Randy Orton
Not Baron Corbin damn it
Shameus should be on that list
@@eddypimp Yeah, that’d be a good tv match for sure. They had some good bouts 2008-9ish. Will never forget Sheamus won his first WWE title against Cena in a tables match.
Gotta add the rock on there
Cena should NOT wrestle that many matches. Don't think his body can take it anymore.
I think John Cena’s legacy will be his work rate, not in ring work rate but his nonstop workaholic commitment for WWE.
And I think that’s why Vince decided that Cena was going to be his main guy in June 2005 and not Batista.
Vince saw how much of a workaholic Cena is and Vince himself was a workaholic, so he saw himself in Cena in that way.
Cena said that when he got injured in September/October 2007 that the timetable was 6 to 7 months out, because most people have physical therapy for 3 times a week.
Cena then said that he got back within 3 to 4 months in time for the Royal Rumble in 2008, because Cena was having physical therapy not 3 times a week but 2 times a day.
That’s how much commitment Cena had to WWE, and his charity work is outstanding. And Cena said that he didn’t originally want WWE to acknowledge his charity work for Make A Wish because he did it not because he had to do but because he wanted to.
There was a time we hated Super Cena on TV, but we all admire and respect Super Cena in real life.
I would say Hogan’s run as WWE’s top guy ended at Mania 8.
Yes there was the Mania 9 debacle but Bret and the New Gen were carrying the company by that point.
I would say Cena’s run as the #1 guy in the company was around 2006 to 2014. He won his first world title in 2005 but I would say his feud with Edge and tapping out the two DX members in back to back Mania main events solidified him as “the guy”. And I would argue that Brock squashing Super Cena at Summerslam 2014 ended the era of him as “the guy”. He had title runs after that but I don’t think he was ever the main focus again.
2014-2015 was also the time they started positioning Roman as "the guy" so you're making sense
Agree 100% Vince McMahon was already pushing Roman to the moon by 2015 and the main event scene was dominated by Roman and Brock after that
When he tapped out HHH ?
I'm glad to see guys like Solomonster explain this retirement in as much detail site like IGN are putting out. They were reporting the tour as it was ending at Mania 41
I was a WWF fan as a little kid. I basically got away from it from 6th through 12th grade. My buddy got me back into it in early 2010 and Cena was firmly established by that point. I have missed very, very few shows in the last 14 years. Here we are now with this announcement and man... time goes by so fast.
When I re watched old Raw episodes from 2005 and 2006, one of the biggest things that I noticed and stand out to me that we don’t see no more, was lots of girls in the audience and girls screaming when Cena was having a match or segment.
When Cena was out there the amount of high pitched screams from girls is something you haven’t seen in WWE in fucking forever, and that was one of the biggest things I noticed re watching old Raw’s from 2005 and 2006, the amount of girls in the audience.
The wrestlers that would get the most screams from girls in the audience were Cena, Orton, Batista and The Hardy’s.
And the last guy I even remotely remember getting a good female reaction was Seth Rollins back in 2014 and 2015, the amount of thirsty girls that would go up to Rollins back then at fan signings.
That’s something you don’t see and hear anymore, loud female reactions.
Love this comment, because I remember noticing that too rewatching those old Raws. They even made exclusive Cena merch for the women. You can see them wearing that pink Chain gang hottie 54 shirt.
The females love big men today u got a bunch of cruiser weights doing flips
You know what’s funny? I remember those days and it was Batista, Cena and Randy Orton getting screams from teenage girls and college girls while their moms would be screaming for HBK 😂
Hey kinda has that but yes
The neckbeards drove them all away
To think in his first year he was close to getting fired a spontaneous freestyle rap on a wwe tourbus saved his career. He wasn't 1st choice in the Famous OVW Class to be face of the company and look what he accomplished incredible. He may be the 4th biggest name in WWE history behind Hogan,Austin and Rock.
It’s really a shame that we can’t get Edge vs John Cena during this retirement tour. 😢
Funny thing about Cena is that he was creepily right about Austin Theory in their feud when he (Cena) told him essentially
“ You’re in a tight spot kid, if you lose to me you’ll go no where and if you beat me it’ll mean nothing” and boy oh boy was he spot on!
honestly a shit thing for cena to say. always hated how he downplayed his opponents instead of building them up. sure wwe is to blame for not capitalizing on theory but its not like cena made their job easy during those promos.
@@Darrakkii Cena never lied though, if you have to tell someone to lower their game to make someone else look good then that guy's not worth it. CM Punk never had issues on the mic with Cena.
John Cena is definitely headlining the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame
No next year forsure!
Nah 2025 will be the year it just makes sense since it's his last full year wrestling.
@@jordanlovett443 no Bray might be headlining this year
@@HikarusukeShindou Bray Wyatt should headline first
Call me crazy; but I thought Cena already retired.
None,he's a part timer! Same as Undertaker & Triple H were in the 2010s prior to retirement for both legends!
Full time yes since 2017 basically after that been part time
Didn't he past 😅
Let's hope Cena gets as good of a last run as Sting had in AEW.
Lmfao What? Stings AEW run was lukewarm at best. 😂
If Cena is really retiring. How many so called wrestling retirements have proven to be BS?
L take @@FunkSwaggMusiK
@@FunkSwaggMusiKExactly. AEW had NO BUSINESS whatsoever to put a 60 + plus year old wrestler in a unbeaten streak. Where did Darby go after Sting's retirement? Who did he put over?
I feel so old, been watching Cena since mid 03, till now like bruh.
I've watched his debut in '02. I'm right there with you.
been watching him since 2010😂
Remember him and Orton debuting in those horrible trunks they used to wear Lol
Same i started watching him in 2009.
Love him or hate him, John Cena has had an amazing career and is a sure fire hall of famer. He is 100% loyal to the company and has been at the top longer than anyone else. His final year is going to be very interesting and I am very curious to see who will be the final opponent for Cena's retirement match, hopefully it will be Randy Orton. 2025 is going to be a hell of a ride
Cena's retirement is gonna be the "I'm moving on from wrestling" moment for the kids of the mid 2000's. We went through this with Austin & Rock, now this generation is going to go through this with the Ruthless Aggression & PG eras.
It's been that way since John left for Hollywood 5 years ago
Eh, a lot of those people have kids who are now fans. So they may not the fans they were growing up but they’ll probably still watch every now and then with their kids
I know the plan is Rock and Cody for Mania 41. But I wouldn't be against them pivoting to Cena and Cody instead.
And I would have Cena win next year's Rumble. I mean why not? Plus it would be a huge accolade for Cena to have on his way out. Not only being the second man ever since Stone Cold to win three Rumble matches, but the first man ever to win three Rumbles across three separate decades. The 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.
And they could build a story of Cena wanting that elusive 17th world title win, but also Cody wanting to prove and solidify himself as Cena's true successor as THE top guy in the company. That can easily headline a Mania.
Said the same thing.
I would be shocked if whatever show WWE does for John Cena’s retirement it isn’t in Boston.
The December show should be called In Your House : Farewell Cena or In Your House : End of an Era
In Your House: You Won’t C Him After This.
IYH: We Can't See Him
John Cena gained another fan in me in 2006 since then I have been hooked as a fan I was 11 to the point I’ll go to school wearing his arm bands and wrist bands when it was black with the silver logo on them and Friday when it was color clothes day I would wear short pants, sneakers and with the same arm bands and wrist bands pretending to be Cena and now 29 years old I’m still proud to be a fan so this final ride is definitely gonna be sad to watch especially when it’s over. The most make a wish wishes ever granted and 16 time world champion a career filled with classic matches a first ballot hall of famer.
How about one more shot at a John Cena/Brock Lesnar match?...
The 'F-5' VS. the 'F-U', one more time.
2002 2025 cena had one hell of a ride his legacy is pretty much secure future hall of fame.
his legacy has been sealed since for over a decade already
I will also throw in LA Knight into the mix to go up against John Cena in his farewell tour
Personally, if we’re talking about matches Cena needs to have during this retirement tour, I’d love to see one more Cena/Rollins match and one more Cena/Owens match. The trilogy he had had with Owens in 2015 was awesome, as was the match he had with Rollins at SummerSlam that same year.
It been a long time since solomonster talk about John Cena for more than 10 minutes.
I would like to see Orton vs. Cena at Wrestlemania or SummerSlam. You could then tell the Title Chase story with #17 at the other PLE between these 2 events
Yeah Cena from September 2014 to May 2017 was his experimental move set era.
Cena’s main moves were
The FU/AA
The STFU/STF
The 5 Knuckle Shuffle (which looking back they never changed the name for that even when they went PG as a 5 Knuckle Shuffle is slang for wanking)
The hip toss
Drop kick
The jumping shoulder barge
the Suplex
And the move he does to set up the 5 Knuckle Shuffle
So Cena had 8 moves of doom, not 5.
But from September 2014 to May 2017 Cena was experimenting with different moves so you started seeing him do moves like
The Hurricurana
The Code Red
And others that I forget
Don't forget that Springboard Stunner
The end of the era
Cena and Orton wrestled on SmackDown in 2017
Boy we have been waiting for your opinion on this topic
Cena to me is the greatest top guy in the history of wrestling he might not of had the peak of hogan or Austin but he did it longer, never let any reaction bother him, never embarrassed the company and wasn’t difficult backstage and very rarely politicked to go over somebody. Cena also never forgot wrestling even when he got big he always found time no matter how busy he was to wrestle or make an appearance and even now he’s gonna do 30 to 40 shows for his retirement tour he doesn’t need to do that he could very easily go out at mania the biggest show possible but he loves this shit
Imo he needs 1 more match with the likes of AJ Styles, Randy Orton, CM Punk, and Rey Mysterio.
He needs to face LA Knight and Logan Paul.
And maybe 1 more match with the likes of Lashley, Sheamus, Kevin Owens, Miz, and Carlito.
His last Mania opponent should be Orton as they’ve never had a 1 on 1 at Mania.
I really hope people that say John Cena is the “Goat” really listened to what Solomonster said here and that’s about John Cena’s legacy not being as strong as Austin, Rock and Hogan. Cena was good at being the company guy but he pales in comparison to the top guys before him.
Calling foul on your claim that “Cena cooked The Rock on the mic” during their feud. WWE had to have Rock “write notes on his arm” to give Cena an in on the promo front. Anyone claiming that was not part of the work and was “a legit shoot” and “Rock was legit pissed at Cena” are deluding themselves. They had to handicap Rock on the mic for Cena to “match up” with him there.
Agreeded rock was doing cena bad!!
You believe that Conspiracy Theory 😂
Cena’s main run as WWE’s top guy lasted 9 years and 2 months from June 2005 to August 2014.
Hogan’s main run as WWE’s top guy lasted 8 years and 3 months from January 1984 to April 1992.
Austin’s main run as WWE’s top guy only lasted 5 years from April 1997 to March 2002, basically that was the entire Attitude Era.
Rock’s main run as WWE’s co top guy only lasted 3 years and 9 months (almost 4 years) from November 1998 to August 2002.
We forget how short Austin and Rock’s main runs were, especially Rock’s because Rock was only 32 years old in 2004 when he went to Hollywood full time. So Rock spent his prime wrestling years in Hollywood and not it in WWE.
When Stone Cold returned in late 2000, was Rock more over than Stone Cold?
Solo monster your the goat
Thank you buddy
Cena is probably among the big 5 in terms of WWE legacies, along with Hogan, Austin, Rock & Taker
History will definitely look fondly at John Cena. He was definitely not my favorite to say the least but there is no question that no matter what and it didnt always work this man put the dedication and time in to give everything he had. The reality is his particular style does not lend itself to helping make new stars at an advanced age. We saw that with the Austin Theory match. Perhaps knowing he is on a goodbye tour he can pull at at least some bangers but I am expecting a greatest hits tour. The last US Title run he had I think was a little too late to use his star power to make new stars. If you are expecting some young guys to get that much over on him I just dont see it.
Cena and Punk the BEST promos i have ever seen, so influentials
I want wwe to give a IC title reign before he retire
here's another name for John's farewell tour uncle Howdy, and the reason why I say that is because of John's history with Bray Wyatt just a thought! Great video by the way, keep up the good work
Cena vs Orton is more like Triple H vs The Rock than Rock vs Austin
I say Austin vs. Triple H
Has @TheSolomonster talked about the 4th part of who killed WCW yet? I love his take on all things wrestling!❤
Him and LeBron James potentially retiring next year will be the end of a lot of sports childhoods for millennials
The older millennials grew up during the Michael Jordan era in basketball. For wrestling they grew up with Shawn Michaels/Bret Hart/Austin/Rock in the New Generation and Attitude eras.
He is more like Kobe Bryant than LJ
@@lancethefilmguy9392 Yep
@@lancethefilmguy9392 Alot of Iverson fans during that period too.
LOL Was just talking to my mother's homecare worker. How great would it be if Orton and Cena have one final match, Orton puts Cena in a headlock and Cena madly starts tapping and Randy's like "...I've been trying that for 20 years, and it never worked!" XD
Actually, the rock destroyed Cena on the mic back 2011.
You sure?
I wasn’t really watching when he was coming up. But his impact was huge. Face of the company for 10 plus years. Definitely one of best of all time
Randy vs Cena at Wrestlemania as they've never had a 1v1 at Mania. Punk vs Cena at money in the bank a perfect time for one last Cena vs Punk match.
Let’s just forget The Undertaker’s one time appearance in the Deadman gimmick in Saudi Arabia recently 😂
For me. The main matches I’d book for Cena
Raw on Netflix: Cena and Punk vs Rollins and Reigns (I think Roman needs to be on Raw)
WrestleMaina 41, Cody vs Cena
Retirement match. Punk as World Heavyweight champion vs Cena. Cena wins and breaks the record on his last match
John Cena wins his 17th Championship in his final match
December of 2025 WWE will have a show at The Garden it's right after Christmas
Normally it's a house show but I'm sure WWE can air a Special Event on that day on Netflix or Peacock
It's a shame we just never got the heel turn. He was already a great heel when he debuted. Missed opportunity.
Its unfortunate he couldnt get final matches with 3 of his biggest rivals during the beginning of his career. I would have loved Cena vs Angle,Cena vs Batista and Cena vs Edge 1 last time but 2 are retired and Edge left. One last Cena/Edge match would be cool if WWE/AEW were on working terms
Man one last fued with punk needs to happen. That mic battle is a must. He’s one of cenas all time rivals along with edge and Orton.
good video
Assuming we have a John Cena/Cody Rhodes match at 'WWE WrestleMania 41' for the WWE title:
Why would you have John Cena break Ric Flair's fake "16-time World title" record, though?...
To me, Ric Flair will always be the one worthy of recognition as being a 16-time World champion just because of anybody we're to exceed it & be a 17-time World champion, it just doesn't sound right.
Flair actually has 21 World titles but WWE Only recognized 16 tbh even if he does win 17 he breaks the record but he doesn't really break it
I would not do a legendary match like John Cena vs CM Punk on raw. I’d do a very complex face on raw instead. It would garner just as much views. Let them go out there and cut an insane promo like we know both of them can. BOTH their greatest assets despite being great wrestlers, is their mic work.
since edge is no longer in wwe and kurt angle is retired i think john cena's final opponent should be randy orton or cm punk. for me cena's greatest rivals were cm punk, edge , kurt angle and randy orton. i still remember that monday night raw match with cm punk and john cena where cena put his rumble victory on the line and then hits a hurricanrana on punk and hits him with the aa. they tore the roof off that match.
1st Netflix Cena vs Cody for the title
Randy Orton at Wrestlemania because its the 1 thing they never did, CM Punk at Money in the Bank because 15 year anniversary,
It would be 14 years not 15, but I still think I agree with you on those two.
I wish Edge was still in WWE cause it’s criminal that they’ll probably won’t wrestle again unless somehow both sides come to an agreement because Edge Vs Cena is a must for John’s retirement
Cena vs LA Knight. It's gottahappen in 2025.
the last cena orton match was on SD in i belive february 2017
Cena vs fatu would be magic as well
Cena turning heel won’t happen, this is about saying goodbye to John Cena, and nobody wants to boo John Cena when he’s retiring
Hogan had two runs!! Face & heel run..
both was amazing can’t say his NWO run didn’t stand out & changed the game
He should win the rumble and win number 17 at mania.
If they were to have Cena win another world title, I'd consider the Raw belt since he never held that version but maybe that's just me.
I am going to miss john
It would be so funny to see Cena the moment he retires anytime he came out as an announcer or a manager, hes dressed up in that A team music video outfit. silver hair and all.
For new opponents, I’d love to see him face Knight, Logan Paul, Gunther and Breakker
The MITB tickets were the same price at Toronto Maple Leaf tickets. Was not fun lmao
Man its bittersweet. I remember watching Thuganomics Cena as a kid lol
I giggle when Cole says Cena is the greatest of all time. No he’s not 😂😂
Randy isn't the last one but there's no way Randy isn't a part of the Farewell Tour
Mr Monster ,do you think he's body can handle the EC
Cena is my all time favorite. I’m dreading his retirement tour but excited as well. Wrestling will be missed without John Cena!
Cena should definitely be Inducted into the Hall of Fame next year.
11:57 on this note I wanna see heel Cena vs face Orton this WrestleMania
Don’t want to see Cena vs Punk or Cena vs Orton.
Top matches Cena vs Rhodes and Cena vs Roman again
John Cena should put over Austin Theory at WrestleMania 41.
Like him or Not ,he DId define a generation and deserves his flowers for that(even when we Shat on him as fans )
There's always a lot of divided discourse on Cena I understand there's people who just don't like him, his push, his style, etc. and there's nothing wrong with that.
Although when the discussion becomes about Him & Burials that's the part that kind of puzzles me. I mean did he win a lot ? & did he win matches that he shouldn't have? Yes absolutely. However is it really fair to blame Cena because creative doesn't know what to do with somebody after they do a program with him???? I mean you can definitely call him on things like Alex Riley and the Nexus but everything else just feels like a bit unfair
Yeah, I blame the WWE for the decade plus of Super Cena but not so much the actual guy. He didn't the drop ball, he ran with it for a very long time and not every wrestler can do that.
Let's be real, was A Ry really going places? And the Nexus were the Alliance 2.0
🖕 Cena. I wouldn't have given him a second thought had he not randomly popped up at MITB.
John Cena vs randy orton at wrestlemania 41 next year as John's last wrestlemania match is a great idea plus they came up from OVW john cena never wrestled for the IC title he won every title in WWE except that one I'd have cena win the Men's royal rumble match tying stone cold steve austin that could be interesting if john wants to do that.
Michael Cole should be the one who inducts cena in the hall of fame
Top Face CM Punk and Top Heel John Cena from 2011 to 2014 would have been the 2nd coming of Rock and Austin
John Cena should work against Homelander
Do you consider letting Sam punk being his first opponent in January for the Netflix opening shell plant the seed? They have Damien priests fidom for him to lose the belt. Let's Cena, have the belt the entire going away. Tour and not the last match, but close to the end of the going way tour. You have somebody newer like Braun. Breaker. Or Gunther Take the belt off Sina as of passing the Torch. Then have randy orton be his final last match before he retires spokennoise
Cena should do the G1
Cena and Gunther
Let his last match be for the title. Cena wins it and becomes a 17x champion. He forfeits it. And the title is the prize for the winner of the Royal Rumble.
Over the course of the following month is a tournament to determine the 6 participants for the Elimination Chamber. And the winner of the chamber faces the Champion at Wrestlemania 42
Okay, I have an idea for Wrestlemania. Hear me out: John Cena vs Randy Orton, John Cena's Dad On A Pole Match. Because every bloody time those two feud, Randy Orton beats the shit outta John Cena Sr. to get the heat. 🤣
He’s one of the top 4 when it comes to mt Rushmore in wwe both in ring and outside the ring can’t deny that.
@thejuansshiw6410 In the ring? Not even close, and this is coming from someone who grew up watching him since his debut.
@@Javi808 ok 👌 I’ll keep saying in the ring as much hate he gets, looking back his work wasn’t terrible the problem is that everyone expects all the guys to be a top technician when that style doesn’t sell well in WWE never has. The whole package and presentation matters why you think in ring technicians don’t become too stars most of the time because that’s all they offer so I say in ring and outside the ring everything all around. If he couldn’t work he wouldn’t have been the top guy.
@@thejuansshow6410 He was really sloppy and uncoordinated in his early years but he got better as the years went on, I’ll give him that. You can say he’s top 4 in the ring all you want but it doesn’t make it true, you sound delusional.
You are right about to be the top guy, presentation, and having the total package matters. I won’t deny he’s a legend and one of the biggest stars in WWE history but don’t make ridiculous statements that aren’t true.
Stone cold was a way better technical wrestler than John before the neck injury. If you disagree with that, you obviously haven’t watched his work before the injury.
@@Javi808 I’m not delusional 🤣 he got better overtime I’ll take that over someone staying the same his entire career and I’m not making the stone cold comparison I just hate that everyone expects everybody to be Kurt angle or Chris Benoit in the ring that’s all. Being truthful there is a ton of guys better in the ring than cena a ton but the notion that he doesn’t leave a legacy in the ring I just don’t agree with that. He’s part of some of the best matches in WWE history that has to mean something I think but hey I won’t hate on anyone not seeing him that way I’m a fan at the end of the day.
@@thejuansshow6410 I don’t expect everyone to be Kurt Angle or Chris Benoit, I just judge their in ring skill for what it is. John Cena has had great matches in his career, I’ll give him that. My sleeper pic for a match is seth rollins
Going to be the biggest WrestleMania of all time
It really is two bad Edge signed with AEW rather than re-sign with WWE, we could have gotten one last Edge/Cena match next year.
Isn't Edge signed with AEW til 2025
