I spent $50 on a bundle to run 40 legendary crests. I got ONE 2/5 star gem. I ALSO saved those runes and crafted a 1-5 star gem and got a ONE star gem.. the problem isn’t so much getting it for free, it’s how stupidly impossible the odds are of getting one for free compared to how easy it is to get if your wallet is fat enough. And even then, you might not even get anything of value for your spending.
That’s rng for you. I got a 4/5 star from a crest I got from battle pass. From the other 25-30 leg crests best I got was two 2/5 gems. I’m ok with this. It’s rng. Odds are stated.

So 320 Fading Ambers each week, that means 320/18 = 17 FAs. You need 22 FAs to roll once. YOU NEED 2 WEEKS TO CRAFT 1. You see the level of grind here???
Well. That just mean that diablo 2 and 3 are 1000 times better and you don't need to go through this shit. 0 reason to even play this game. And don't keep your hopes up for diablo 4 because it's been confirmed that it will follow in the footsteps of the super successful diablo immoral.

tbh the only way i can see this game viable for free to play is removing the Ember caps . so if u actually Grind it u can buy as many as u want. takes work but it makes the chances much higher.
Well, I didn´t want to play this game just becuse how hostile it is against players and I thought I can´t get anyhting without money. Buuut, this changes everything - I am capable to play F2P mobile games without actually paying anything and still have fun. And this is Diablo, so I will give it a chance. Plus you can find something similiar in Falout 76 with legendary weapons and gear. Took me insane amount of time till I got what I needed - so this is probably something similiar. I recommend my latest video that just sent live that lets you get free legendary crests (that translates to legendary gems). For a patient player line you this will be a perfect part of your rotation to min/max F2P
the odds of you getting a 5/5 gem with fa runes is it'll take 60 years of capping every week. if you want to actually get a good bit of gems without paying, farm NORMAL gems by playing in a 4/4 party, then selling them for ~300 platinum each to establish a base amount of investing currency, then flip gems on the market as the prices swell towards sunday push day. so long as the game isn't dead you should be able to accumulate vast amounts of platinum far faster than you would be able to by rolling FA runes.
Paying player every day getting so many legendary gym with spending money didn't get any five star gym and you hope to gain five star by only 2 or 3 try in month out of 1 chance out of/2,200 time good luck see you after 10 year 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The chances of getting a good 5-star one is a bit too low to be honest, but I guess it's better than nothing for now. Though I think I'll be fine with my 1 and 2 star gems for the meantime since they're a lot easier to get and I think they're also a bit easier to upgrade than the 5-star ones. Not too sure on that though, need to learn a bit more about gems. Thanks for the tip!
Upgraded 1 and 2 star gems are quite good and, as you mentioned, wayyyyy cheaper to upgrade. The odds for the 5 star gems are in line with odds for top end “characters” in gocha games like Genshin impact. Again, a shock to non mobile games, but I don’t think many mobile pros are shocked.
Yup, definitely no surprise there. It's been that way for years for a lot of games. I gotta admit that it may be a bit of a flawed system, in the sense that it could ruin the game if it gets out of hand, but it is what it is. Just gotta enjoy the game itself for its mechanics and overall gameplay instead of constantly whining about the whales. Personally, I'm having fun with the game right now even with $0 spent, but I might get the battle pass soon just for the skin and extra loot though. I don't plan on spending thousands just for an in-game gem haha.
With the odd of ~4.5% of getting anything from 2/5-5/5 star, it would take about 9 months in general to see one. Which you won't be able to upgrade past a certain rank as you will need a copy of it. Which means, for a F2P player, we are better off getting a normal 2 star or 1 star gem rather than one of the ?/5 ones, as we will be able to upgrade it further.
Focus on mainly 1/2 star. But if you do get some 5* they will be tremendously better before you need to increase their rank using a second gem of the same type. (Rank 3) you can also just save up plat to buy a cheaper one off market. And use it as the feeder. That boost alone for a 5* is better then a rank 10 1*
9 month compare to thousands of Dollars? I think thats a fair Deal :) i Play f2p too and got 2 x 5star (with 2/3 real Stars) Out of the monthly hilt crest. I use this to Upgrade my 1/2 Stars for Higher tiers. Thats the only way to get 50% Magic find for free with my necro with useful gems.
320 embers per week. => 17.8 FA runes. => You will still need 4.2 FA Runs or 76 embers for ONE craft. So it is not even one legendary crest per week with the chance of roughly 5% to get a 5 star gem that is as weak as an easily upgraded 1/2 star. Only problem: You won't ever have the gem power to upgrade this 5-star to anything that is better than your 1/2 stars. So the only sensical option is to sell them for plat (if someone would even pay the lowest price) and then buy 1 stars/2 stars for the plat for fodder.
people already know about the FA runes the problem is that there is a capped amount of dust u can get per week so that f2p players can never ever catch up to p2w players they cap how much u can get so that if u do want to catch up u have to pay

It is not cost-effective to craft FA runes. You would be a lot better if you craft Ati runes (for 15 embers, instead of 18) and from them craft 1 and 2-star gems. Basically if you are a F2P player (or one who only pays for the Battle Pass - which is moderately profitable) I suggest to forget completely about 5-star gems. Just focus on 2-star ones and try to level up them as best as possible. 95% of the crafting will be only to get Gem Power, so it doesn't really matter what you craft or what drops for you. My calculations say that you are guaranteed to grind 32 gem power per month this way, which is equivalent to a 5-star gem (46 if you buy the Battle Pass). A lot better than getting a crappy 2/5 star gem after 6 months of grinding (as Peter Peterson proved here: ua-cam.com/video/bk_5pFWB96s/v-deo.html&lc=UgyHMdR_WC9G7j0LkBB4AaABAg).
crafting is not really worth it. 3.375% to get a 2/5 5star gem where if u do crest run, you have 4.5% chance. and the number of FA to craft a random gem and a eternal crest is the same.
This is the only way to "Farm" tradeable Leg Gems. It does have a cap as you have noted with the Embers. Runes: trade 7 and get 1 star leg gem- sells for 750 to 1200 plat on market.. Trade 28 and get 2 star Leg Gem sells for 2500+ plat Trade 22 and get random star gem, which could net you the "Big One".., or not. The "Big One" 5 Star Leg Gems sells for 250k-500k plat on the market. Soooo.. If you have about 1.5 M Plat you can buy what you want in 5 star Gems for all 6 you need. It seems to me that you can get there quicker by having an intent to "Farm" for Platinum rather than Farm for the "RNG".. ;-) In other words use the untradeable gems and sell the tradable ones and stockpile that Platinum.

The only other method to grind plat that I can see is flipping charms into skill stones for 500 plat and selling for 2500 max. so if you can gain 6k plat per day in a perfect world.., it could make the grind at least possible. But in all reality the rent on those stones are gonna be ruff for a F2P player.. in other words upgrading 5 star gems is a career in itself. may as well upgrade 2 stars and by that time D4 will be here.. lol thanks for the content
No one was saying you cant get the 5 stars for free. The claim is the time vs money argument. And trying to get a 5 star to full rank for one piece of gear is impossible as the game will be shut down well before you would be able to farm the mats for it. This video is very disengenous trying to make DI seem more f2p friendly. I play the game, and even I call BS on this video. Your about as disengenous as Wyatt Cheng when he said you cant purchase gear in the cash shop. And even if you do somehow magically get a 5 star to rank 10 you can not awaken gear as a f2p player. A major difference betwee DI and most other gacha games (excluding big names like SE and Nintendo cause they are just as bad as DI) In most gacha games you can farm the exact same currency you can buy. THis means if you are smart with your summons and wait for the really good banners you can do just fine as a ftp player. Most gacha games also have a reasonable pity system that ftp players can reach. This game is 100% not f2p friendly unless your just logging in for a casual brainless grind (which is what I do) This video is also pretty big clickbait as your process for gettign 5 star gems is also not realistic. Remember 25$ gets p2w player 10 chances to get a 5 star, 2 weeks of grinding gets you less than that. So for those who came to this video. Yes technically you can get a 5 star gem, but your chances of winning the lottery or a sweepstake where you enter for free is MUCH HIGHER. Unless your just gonna brainless grind this game, I suggest you stay away. IT is not worth competing. And even if you get a 5 star gem. You will never have any chance against a p2w player even if you are a superior player.
Do you have to be able to get a 5/5 gem to rank 10 in order to be F2P friendly? I personally don’t expect to get one to 10 and I’m ok with that. Everyone can pick their tolerance threshold. Getting 1 star gems to 10 isn’t bad. I found getting a ?/5 to rank 4 or 5 is plausible. Beyond that I probably wouldn’t personally push. However I feel my power will be plenty strong at those levels.
@@LeeroyGaming F2P friendly would be that a free player can obtain what a paid player can obtain with self control and smart decisions. For example in Gacha games. If a f2p players summons on every banner then they are making an active choice to not save for the best banners. However if a free player only summons on the banners they care about they know what is in the banner and know the odds. Nothing in a good f2p friendly gacha game is locked behind a paywall. And when that happens communities (both paid and f2p) in those games usually make it very clear they do not agree with it. Diablo's gems are not f2p friendly because of the difference between a 1 star and 5 star gem at rank 10. If it was just one then that wouldnt be a problem. But you are talking about f2p player having rank 10 1 or 2 star gems after months (close to half a year) of grinding while paid players can have rank 10 5 star gems in all pieces of their gear. This difference in damage leads to mutiple issues that are not f2p friendly. Here they are. First PVP. PVP will be so unbalanced that most new players will try it and jump out. Heavy p2w PVP never does very well. And this is gonna be a dead aspect of the game. Now add this into the immortals. The only way to be an immortal will be to spend lots of money and only join a clan filled with people who do the same. This is already becoming an issue on my server Black Abyss. So there is one aspect of the game I will never have a chance at. Next rift runs. We are already seeing Whales exclude non whales in rift runs becuase they want everyone to run full 10 crest runs. And most of all awakening. There is no way to awaken your gear as f2p. So if you want that extra ability on your gear you need 1000 of the premium currency to get them. The only part of Diablo Immortal that is f2p friendly is the campaign. And if people like you continue to sugar coat it instead of calling out the company then the game is not going to last. This game is not f2p friendly. And again NO BODY said that 5 star gems are impossible to achieve, nor that the game should be 100% free. What is being said is that the amount of grinding needed to be done on a f2p player is unnacceptable. And as a person who plays many gacha games and f2ps a few of them, I will tell you how Diablo can become f2p friendly and its very easy. Allow for the premuim currency, those orbs to be farmable in game. Of course you limit them so that players who pay have a reason to pay. This solves all the problems. Then f2p players must decide, do they purchase the crest or save for awakening their gear. At this point f2p players do not have an option and it is not up to them to decide. So why don't you stop sugar coating this problem and acting like the game is f2p friendly. It isn't, as f2p players do not even get an chance to decide on either getting a crest or saving for awakening. On top of that it isn't even low spender friendly. I would be more than will to be a low spender maybe 20-30$ a month on the game but that will not even put a dent in getting me geared up. Also just because the monetization is very bad and it is not f2p friendly doesnt mean it cant be. It means it isnt and we should all push for them to fix these problems. Then the game will last multiple years. As a person who enjoys Diablo Immortal I want these problems fixed. But all it takes is a few youtubers talking about how its not a big deal for blizzard to say "see we are f2p friendly." And as for making a video showing that, well that I dont have a problem with. But your whole intro where you misquoted what people said acting like everyone was confused and "oh look you can get 5 star gems" Thats where my issue is.

Your greater right comment makes no sense. Greater gain no benefits for the main character if other characters use legendary crests… being “left out” makes no sense. Greater rifts are basically an easy gameplay added to a /luck roll and are easy on purpose. You don’t even lose your crests if you fail (and it’s super hard to fail). So your point there is incorrect… and then you stop listing things that aren’t fair as you say campaign is not unfair. So to recap: you made one valid point (pvp), one false/irrelevant point (g rifts), and one pro-F2P point. So your record is 1-1-1. …… very passionate viewpoint, but this games p2w mechanic will only impact you as much as you let it.
@@LeeroyGaming you completely missed my point on grifts. You need to do a grift 66 times to try and craft one 5 star gem with a 3% chance. Grifts take let’s say 3-5 mins so that so anywhere from 198-330 mins or 3.3-5.5 hours for one gem. And the point I made is one I’ve already seen in game. Just today was the 3rd time I saw someone recruiting 10 crest runs only. So if I am seeing it happen (and yes he kicked someone for not running 10 crests) how is that point incorrect? Because it’s strange how something I’ve actually already seen happen a couple of times is incorrect. I’m not theorizing here it already happened.

people are to focused on the gems , you dont need them to play Diablo ,they probably make you godlike strong but you can be very strong too with the crafted 1-2 star gems and its strong enough to play lvl 60+ just look at the leaderboards , all of them have 1 or 2 star legends
You're better off as F2P getting ATI and buying 2 star legendaries for upgrades and then selling gems to buy 1 stars in the auction house for fodder. This will get you up to a respectable 1k resonance. FA's are so rare to drop a 5 you are screwing yourself.

You need ati runes to craft a specific legendary gem. You combine the ati runes with the other weird runes to craft different specific gems. So if you have loads backed up you could use them to craft some cheap 1* gems to then upgrade your main ones
They basically brought back rune words. You can craft all of the 1 and 2 star legendary gems (and use them to equip or to break down for feeder material). You get plenty of these through playing the regular content in the game :)
18x22=396. 396/8=49.5 so that mean you need 50 runs and limit is 200 per weak that mean 200/8= 25 runs a weak( no more cuz is no point if you not gonna get any stuff from it) that mean you have spend 2 weeks farming rift to get 1 gem that you can sell on market. it's bit to long in my opinion and cost of crafting gems should be bit leat especially its random and dropping 1 star trash just like in my case
Might wanna tell people the truth there bud. The chance of getting a 5 star gem from trading 22 fa runes for the random unbound gem is less than 0.005 percent. Also, IF you get a 5 star to drop, it will only ever be a 2 of 5 star gem. You will never get 3, 4 or 5 out of 5 stars with this method.
Mate the fading emebers are capped. you can only make enough for 1 roll ever 1.5 weeks. If you do the math you'll realise this method takes years to get one 5* on average.
0,045% chance to create a 5\5 gem, with 36 annual attempts without paying anything !!!!!!!!! So I'm 52, maybe 50 years from now .............................

@@LeeroyGaming this is what he also thought. You cannot upgrade for example A "white gem" drops (5/5) at say two stars or say five, can be upgraded in level but cannot be upgraded in star rank. It can however be leveled up to 10. This is why he had been chasing a 5/5 five star gem to be upgraded to level 10 and where the insane power comes from. His "spend for science" is an amazing stream idea that is always at 20k and up viewers. Also when upgrading gem level do not use "auto fill" for gems as it will destroy gems even of a higher level. The dust and lower gems to upgrade these are more then a few hundred each. Just mind blowing. Keep up the awesome vids man !

It takes runes to gamble for a gem. So you have to choose between severely reducing your ability to upgrade gems or a minuscule chance for a higher level gem…. Even if you get a 5 star as a F2P, the upgrade requirements are crazy.
The biggest issue is that f2p players don't even have the chances to craft this once a week. Your weekly cap is appx 240 embers per week. And you need 396 to get enough FA runes for a chance at a 5 star
True, but free is free. There’s other ways too. Can buy one legendary gem with hilts a week. Sell inbound gems on ah and use profits to buy gems on ah. Many different way to earn for free. It won’t be 100 a month, but you can early 5-10 a month if you work at it.

Leeroy you explained quite well. the issue here is the caps. to convert the dust into FA runes, you have to divide the 22 needed runes by 18 dust price per rune; that alone brings you to 396 Dust cost per 1 time random cast. as mentioned in your video your weekly cap is 200 direct farmed and + 120 bonus which means you can at max, have a 320 Dust income per week. so the 396 Dust cost for crafting 1 time random gem is already more than 1 week of farming, with fully maxed out gain; that being said, you then also have those drop chances giving you a 95% chance for it to suck ass and be just as bad as when you just crafted 1 star and 2 star gem right away. so it's a massive loss you take in the long run, since it's very likely to be bad quality, and you can only do 2 in 3 weeks at max, meaning you get pretty much no real chance on hitting those 5% better quality consistantly.
now, here is how to do it better: craft as many 1 star gems as possible dirctly, both from direct recepie and 7 FA rune recepie (which you can do much more frequent with just 126 dust per craft; your chances of getting a better gem on the other recipe are countered by you being able to craft 2-3 times per week, giving you much more gems overall. those aren't tradable; trade the other gems, you dropped, if you really need to swap them up on the market for getting any 2 star gems. going above 2 star you'd again sit there for several month just farming to get the needed amounts; level up your gems that you wear, on 1 star until they cap out. go with fully leveled 1 star gems into the next higher tier with 2 star gems, once you have that. you're overall power will be much more reliable and faster achieved.
the real chance for a 5 star gem from the recepie with 22 FA runes is not even 1 % it actually is 1% from the 4,5%, which is more like 0,00045; that in percent is a 0,045% chance for an actual 5 Star on crafting the recepie at max 2 times every 3 weeks giving you a total of 36 tries(= 54 weeks divided by 3 is 18, times 2 is 36) PER YEAR!!! 36*0,00045 = 0,0162 chance or 1,62% chance for a whole year of doing the recepie to actually get a 5 Star gem. in the same time you can have 17'280 Dust (54*320) crafted into 1 star gems = (17280/126=) 137,14... gems of low quality, over the same time of 1 year. 140 gems put into use compared to a 1,6% chance of having one single 5 Star gem after a whole year of farming every week to max capacity, is a huge difference!!
now we got no real data on that, but the 137 gems of low quality should also raise the pity counter for dropping a higher quality gem whenever you do run a legendary crest from hilt trader and battle pass. but that can't be confirmed to be sure, it's only an esitmate; even if that might not kick in, you still get a whole 100 extra gems compared to doing the 5 star random chance craft. (137-36='101)
Lol also, this proves that the game is pay to win. You are capped being free to play while pay to win is not. And still the gems cannot be placed on the market. The gap between paying players and free to pay will widen over time.

Technically you did get lucky. 2 stars are a 20% drop rate and you for 1/3 so 33% drop rate… so you got quite lucky :) I did 10 legendary crests today and they were all 1 star. Rng gods giveth and they taketh away.
that is nice, getting one 5/5 for "free" after many hours of playing, but what to do with it? actually best thing is to sell it if its even tradeable, you will never be able to get as many gems as you need to fully upgrade it with free to play
I got two Zwenson's Haunting 5/5 star gems in my free-to-play account both on elder rift drops with one eternal legendary gem equipped. One on my Necro and one on my Demon Hunter. Guess im super lucky 😀
You are farming so much to play agaisnt the odds of 0.05% of getting a 5 star gem... when p2w players play that odds everysingle time they want by paying
People focus too much on odds for 5/5. 2/5, 3/5, and 4/5 odds are much better and relatively close on power. I was the #1 pvp necro for season 1 and I had one 4/5, and two 3/5 . Then two one star and some 2 star gems. Nothing close to maxed out except for one rank 10 one star. Perspective is important….
True. But the awakening bonuses aren’t that insane. Normally 10% to dmg or cooldown or health to a summon etc, AND requires level 10 gems. I.e. harder for F2P to get and not that big of a deal to miss.
Getting a 1 star from this method is demoralizing. It takes you over a week to roll once and it’s mostly one star. I could just just roll for the 1 star for only 7 fa runes. Instead of 22.
So you need 18*22=396 embers to roll once. You need to roll on average 20 times for a 5 star (?/5). So it’ll take you roughly 25 weeks to get one. Am I doing this right?
I’m a bit tired as I write this but on average you are close. I’ve done the math on my drops and I have averaged “above average” luck. About one ?/5 per 15 or so “rolls”

Yea very important distinction. Your stuff isn’t getting reset. Just new season pass gets added along with extra special on e-shop, new content for game (raids, quests, classes etc)

I really am saddened that they have made this game into nothing but a dam cash grab, honestly sickened by it. Loved Diablo, DII, & D3 I only played mildly as Witch Doctor, but still loved the trilogy.. Unfortunately I had waaay higher hopes than I should have - with this installment into the Diablo Saga. I knew it wouldn't be everything the same/what we were used to, but it feels like such an entire entity for the worse.. I'm not 1 of those losers saying ' Oh uninstall that crap. Such a waste of time. Etc. Etc. ' but I really came to the conclusion roughly the first week that there was no sense in me actually making a run for top players on the server since I'm not able to spend double, or single digit thousands of dollars on this game to even be in the running for top 250 players of the server smh.. Sadly I couldn't even afford to spend hundreds to a thousand on this at the moment.. BUT I COULD SPEND - Hundreds to thousands of HOURS on this game and already have spent a rough couple hundred hours on it already. Before I went off on my tangent, I was saying that I have made the decision to just coast back and not even really attempt pvp much since it's such a 1 sided affair, & the game as a whole isn't getting my full ambition towards it, as it should. When you know no matter how lucky on drops, how much you grind, how long you spend amassing Every & Any Things.. There's always going to be a 1 sided part to the entire game as a whole, & sad to say F2P got hit with the shittiest end of ANY stick that could have been pushed by Blizzard. What happened to pay $ for the game, & then grind your ass off to be the top dogs. That's just my $ .02 worth about it.
I got 4/5 at first try last week. I am using the gem and it was a mistake I believe because I will never be able to up it as F2P. Should have sold it...
Was it bound or unbound? Unless you got it through a purchased crest, it’s not traceable. However even a level 2 4/5 is more powerful than a 10/10 1 star gem so your most likely made the right decision to use it.
So if you Farm all Embers per week max out the FA runes (320 embers weekly max / 18 per craft of Fa rune = 17.7....) and for a Gem you need 22 to Craft it? Good Times :D You get blocked so hard in these Mobile Games just dont try to defend it it makes no sense^^ People are loosing their Hard earned Money to such Mechanics. Do you think the Chance of Crafting an 3/5 or 5/5 Gem is any Higher than using the Pay method? I doubt it!
It’s not about defending or not defending. I’m separating the quality of the game from the extra p2w mechanics. They are options and ppl shouldn’t be thinking they’ll get many extra benefits for free, but there are “some”. Think of them as Costco samples, you won’t keep yourself fed from them but it allows you to leech some power over time. Them be the rules of freeloaders. Free is free. And paid is paid.
But does that mean u CANT buy them from the market with ur platin?????? I always asumed that would be the main way.... Is that not possible FTP ???????

And of those 10 gems I got 3 5 stars… you heard it right, I had a 30% drop rate of what is statistically a 5% per crest chance. Lol was nuts. Happened just a few hrs ago.

Lol what a joke. Maybe 1 per week. 4 per month running about 20 to 30 rifts a week in group. This game makes me sad. I sunk in about 40 hour in ranked in the top 15 in the server on rifts and the grind is absured now.
If I were to do this that would mean that I would have the equivalent of having a total of six legendary crest. Three from crafting, and three from the game with a level one character. When you get introduced to Elder Rifts you get a legendary crest. Then you can get another from the hilts trader. And a third one from the battle pass. So within one month I would get around six chances at a five star legendary gem. I don't know if that would be better or it would be better to just get a two star legendary gem and sell them on the market to build up the platinum where I could afford a five star gem.
you cant sell any if the legendary gems you get on the market unless you buy the ETERNAL legendary crest off the cash shop with orbs. the crests you get with hilts, the battlepass, boon, prodigy path, shop bundles, or any other method excpet purchased with eternal orbs will not be sellable on the market. spend accordingly.
Thank you for making this vid! I already saw the crafting of the gems, but I didn't know the specific percentages until watching. What is your opinion on the hilts trading system? Idk if you already made a video about it but I am curious to know since I am having trouble deciding what to buy with the hilts I have from the battle pass so far. I completely understand why people think this game is pay to win, but as someone who grew up playing wizard101 and literally had to pay to play the pve in every zone, this game's pve is looking pretty sweet! Here’s the good news: many of the gems are good for many builds. Maybe not all best in slot but I’ve had no problem getting a variety of gems. You can also manually craft any 1 or 2 star gem
There is ONE question I have. I just upgraded my legendary gem, and the star rating did NOT go up, just something called ranking. Is there a way to upgrade the star level, or am I wasting my time upgrading a 2 star gem?
You have an opportunity to upgrade star ratings at certain points. For example, I believe you can upgrade a two star to a three star at rank four if I remember correctly. If you started with a gym at three star you would save those resources and obviously not need to go from 2 star to 3 star. To the best of my knowledge is all happens automatically. So there is no such thing as a rank 10 three star gem. All ranked 10 gems will be a five out of five star. The difference is that it will take a lot more to upgrade a natural three star gem to five star Dan one that you found as a rank one five star gem. I hope that makes sense

I spent $50 on a bundle to run 40 legendary crests. I got ONE 2/5 star gem. I ALSO saved those runes and crafted a 1-5 star gem and got a ONE star gem.. the problem isn’t so much getting it for free, it’s how stupidly impossible the odds are of getting one for free compared to how easy it is to get if your wallet is fat enough. And even then, you might not even get anything of value for your spending.
That’s rng for you. I got a 4/5 star from a crest I got from battle pass. From the other 25-30 leg crests best I got was two 2/5 gems. I’m ok with this. It’s rng. Odds are stated.

So 320 Fading Ambers each week, that means 320/18 = 17 FAs. You need 22 FAs to roll once. YOU NEED 2 WEEKS TO CRAFT 1. You see the level of grind here???

tbh the only way i can see this game viable for free to play is removing the Ember caps . so if u actually Grind it u can buy as many as u want. takes work but it makes the chances much higher.

Well, I didn´t want to play this game just becuse how hostile it is against players and I thought I can´t get anyhting without money.
Buuut, this changes everything - I am capable to play F2P mobile games without actually paying anything and still have fun. And this is Diablo, so I will give it a chance.
Plus you can find something similiar in Falout 76 with legendary weapons and gear. Took me insane amount of time till I got what I needed - so this is probably something similiar.

the odds of you getting a 5/5 gem with fa runes is it'll take 60 years of capping every week. if you want to actually get a good bit of gems without paying, farm NORMAL gems by playing in a 4/4 party, then selling them for ~300 platinum each to establish a base amount of investing currency, then flip gems on the market as the prices swell towards sunday push day. so long as the game isn't dead you should be able to accumulate vast amounts of platinum far faster than you would be able to by rolling FA runes.

The chances of getting a good 5-star one is a bit too low to be honest, but I guess it's better than nothing for now. Though I think I'll be fine with my 1 and 2 star gems for the meantime since they're a lot easier to get and I think they're also a bit easier to upgrade than the 5-star ones. Not too sure on that though, need to learn a bit more about gems. Thanks for the tip!
Upgraded 1 and 2 star gems are quite good and, as you mentioned, wayyyyy cheaper to upgrade. The odds for the 5 star gems are in line with odds for top end “characters” in gocha games like Genshin impact. Again, a shock to non mobile games, but I don’t think many mobile pros are shocked.
Yup, definitely no surprise there. It's been that way for years for a lot of games. I gotta admit that it may be a bit of a flawed system, in the sense that it could ruin the game if it gets out of hand, but it is what it is. Just gotta enjoy the game itself for its mechanics and overall gameplay instead of constantly whining about the whales. Personally, I'm having fun with the game right now even with $0 spent, but I might get the battle pass soon just for the skin and extra loot though. I don't plan on spending thousands just for an in-game gem haha.

With the odd of ~4.5% of getting anything from 2/5-5/5 star, it would take about 9 months in general to see one. Which you won't be able to upgrade past a certain rank as you will need a copy of it. Which means, for a F2P player, we are better off getting a normal 2 star or 1 star gem rather than one of the ?/5 ones, as we will be able to upgrade it further.
That is why most F2P players do focus on 1 and 2 star gems
Focus on mainly 1/2 star. But if you do get some 5* they will be tremendously better before you need to increase their rank using a second gem of the same type. (Rank 3) you can also just save up plat to buy a cheaper one off market. And use it as the feeder. That boost alone for a 5* is better then a rank 10 1*
9 month compare to thousands of Dollars? I think thats a fair Deal :) i Play f2p too and got 2 x 5star (with 2/3 real Stars) Out of the monthly hilt crest. I use this to Upgrade my 1/2 Stars for Higher tiers. Thats the only way to get 50% Magic find for free with my necro with useful gems.

320 embers per week. => 17.8 FA runes. => You will still need 4.2 FA Runs or 76 embers for ONE craft. So it is not even one legendary crest per week with the chance of roughly 5% to get a 5 star gem that is as weak as an easily upgraded 1/2 star. Only problem: You won't ever have the gem power to upgrade this 5-star to anything that is better than your 1/2 stars. So the only sensical option is to sell them for plat (if someone would even pay the lowest price) and then buy 1 stars/2 stars for the plat for fodder.
people already know about the FA runes the problem is that there is a capped amount of dust u can get per week so that f2p players can never ever catch up to p2w players they cap how much u can get so that if u do want to catch up u have to pay

It is not cost-effective to craft FA runes. You would be a lot better if you craft Ati runes (for 15 embers, instead of 18) and from them craft 1 and 2-star gems. Basically if you are a F2P player (or one who only pays for the Battle Pass - which is moderately profitable) I suggest to forget completely about 5-star gems. Just focus on 2-star ones and try to level up them as best as possible. 95% of the crafting will be only to get Gem Power, so it doesn't really matter what you craft or what drops for you. My calculations say that you are guaranteed to grind 32 gem power per month this way, which is equivalent to a 5-star gem (46 if you buy the Battle Pass). A lot better than getting a crappy 2/5 star gem after 6 months of grinding (as Peter Peterson proved here: ua-cam.com/video/bk_5pFWB96s/v-deo.html&lc=UgyHMdR_WC9G7j0LkBB4AaABAg).
That’s a good point. In my new free to play beginners guide I also say this: if you’re free 2 play, focus on 1 and 2 star gems for the most part.
crafting is not really worth it. 3.375% to get a 2/5 5star gem where if u do crest run, you have 4.5% chance. and the number of FA to craft a random gem and a eternal crest is the same.
This is the only way to "Farm" tradeable Leg Gems. It does have a cap as you have noted with the Embers.
Runes:
trade 7 and get 1 star leg gem- sells for 750 to 1200 plat on market..
Trade 28 and get 2 star Leg Gem sells for 2500+ plat
Trade 22 and get random star gem, which could net you the "Big One".., or not.
The "Big One" 5 Star Leg Gems sells for 250k-500k plat on the market. Soooo..
If you have about 1.5 M Plat you can buy what you want in 5 star Gems for all 6 you need.
It seems to me that you can get there quicker by having an intent to "Farm" for Platinum rather than Farm for the "RNG".. ;-) In other words use the untradeable gems and sell the tradable ones and stockpile that Platinum.
Working the market is the most predictable way of getting gems I agree. Although I wish you could post more than 6 at a time

The only other method to grind plat that I can see is flipping charms into skill stones for 500 plat and selling for 2500 max. so if you can gain 6k plat per day in a perfect world.., it could make the grind at least possible. But in all reality the rent on those stones are gonna be ruff for a F2P player.. in other words upgrading 5 star gems is a career in itself. may as well upgrade 2 stars and by that time D4 will be here.. lol thanks for the content

Craft the crest and you can do a 10 banger more often. And a bonus ember that crafting a gem wouldn’t give.
Took 3 weeks to drop a 5star/2quality with embers. 1week with ten legendary crests. And a lucky 1day 3 legendary crest roll on my alt on the rift.
U would have to do 450 elder rift runs just to cap the personnel limit
No one was saying you cant get the 5 stars for free. The claim is the time vs money argument. And trying to get a 5 star to full rank for one piece of gear is impossible as the game will be shut down well before you would be able to farm the mats for it. This video is very disengenous trying to make DI seem more f2p friendly. I play the game, and even I call BS on this video. Your about as disengenous as Wyatt Cheng when he said you cant purchase gear in the cash shop. And even if you do somehow magically get a 5 star to rank 10 you can not awaken gear as a f2p player. A major difference betwee DI and most other gacha games (excluding big names like SE and Nintendo cause they are just as bad as DI) In most gacha games you can farm the exact same currency you can buy. THis means if you are smart with your summons and wait for the really good banners you can do just fine as a ftp player. Most gacha games also have a reasonable pity system that ftp players can reach. This game is 100% not f2p friendly unless your just logging in for a casual brainless grind (which is what I do) This video is also pretty big clickbait as your process for gettign 5 star gems is also not realistic. Remember 25$ gets p2w player 10 chances to get a 5 star, 2 weeks of grinding gets you less than that. So for those who came to this video. Yes technically you can get a 5 star gem, but your chances of winning the lottery or a sweepstake where you enter for free is MUCH HIGHER. Unless your just gonna brainless grind this game, I suggest you stay away. IT is not worth competing. And even if you get a 5 star gem. You will never have any chance against a p2w player even if you are a superior player.
Do you have to be able to get a 5/5 gem to rank 10 in order to be F2P friendly? I personally don’t expect to get one to 10 and I’m ok with that. Everyone can pick their tolerance threshold. Getting 1 star gems to 10 isn’t bad. I found getting a ?/5 to rank 4 or 5 is plausible. Beyond that I probably wouldn’t personally push. However I feel my power will be plenty strong at those levels.
@@LeeroyGaming F2P friendly would be that a free player can obtain what a paid player can obtain with self control and smart decisions. For example in Gacha games. If a f2p players summons on every banner then they are making an active choice to not save for the best banners. However if a free player only summons on the banners they care about they know what is in the banner and know the odds. Nothing in a good f2p friendly gacha game is locked behind a paywall. And when that happens communities (both paid and f2p) in those games usually make it very clear they do not agree with it. Diablo's gems are not f2p friendly because of the difference between a 1 star and 5 star gem at rank 10. If it was just one then that wouldnt be a problem. But you are talking about f2p player having rank 10 1 or 2 star gems after months (close to half a year) of grinding while paid players can have rank 10 5 star gems in all pieces of their gear. This difference in damage leads to mutiple issues that are not f2p friendly. Here they are. First PVP. PVP will be so unbalanced that most new players will try it and jump out. Heavy p2w PVP never does very well. And this is gonna be a dead aspect of the game. Now add this into the immortals. The only way to be an immortal will be to spend lots of money and only join a clan filled with people who do the same. This is already becoming an issue on my server Black Abyss. So there is one aspect of the game I will never have a chance at. Next rift runs. We are already seeing Whales exclude non whales in rift runs becuase they want everyone to run full 10 crest runs. And most of all awakening. There is no way to awaken your gear as f2p. So if you want that extra ability on your gear you need 1000 of the premium currency to get them. The only part of Diablo Immortal that is f2p friendly is the campaign. And if people like you continue to sugar coat it instead of calling out the company then the game is not going to last. This game is not f2p friendly. And again NO BODY said that 5 star gems are impossible to achieve, nor that the game should be 100% free. What is being said is that the amount of grinding needed to be done on a f2p player is unnacceptable. And as a person who plays many gacha games and f2ps a few of them, I will tell you how Diablo can become f2p friendly and its very easy. Allow for the premuim currency, those orbs to be farmable in game. Of course you limit them so that players who pay have a reason to pay. This solves all the problems. Then f2p players must decide, do they purchase the crest or save for awakening their gear. At this point f2p players do not have an option and it is not up to them to decide. So why don't you stop sugar coating this problem and acting like the game is f2p friendly. It isn't, as f2p players do not even get an chance to decide on either getting a crest or saving for awakening. On top of that it isn't even low spender friendly. I would be more than will to be a low spender maybe 20-30$ a month on the game but that will not even put a dent in getting me geared up. Also just because the monetization is very bad and it is not f2p friendly doesnt mean it cant be. It means it isnt and we should all push for them to fix these problems. Then the game will last multiple years. As a person who enjoys Diablo Immortal I want these problems fixed. But all it takes is a few youtubers talking about how its not a big deal for blizzard to say "see we are f2p friendly." And as for making a video showing that, well that I dont have a problem with. But your whole intro where you misquoted what people said acting like everyone was confused and "oh look you can get 5 star gems" Thats where my issue is.

Your greater right comment makes no sense. Greater gain no benefits for the main character if other characters use legendary crests… being “left out” makes no sense. Greater rifts are basically an easy gameplay added to a /luck roll and are easy on purpose. You don’t even lose your crests if you fail (and it’s super hard to fail). So your point there is incorrect… and then you stop listing things that aren’t fair as you say campaign is not unfair.
So to recap: you made one valid point (pvp), one false/irrelevant point (g rifts), and one pro-F2P point. So your record is 1-1-1.

@@LeeroyGaming you completely missed my point on grifts. You need to do a grift 66 times to try and craft one 5 star gem with a 3% chance. Grifts take let’s say 3-5 mins so that so anywhere from 198-330 mins or 3.3-5.5 hours for one gem. And the point I made is one I’ve already seen in game. Just today was the 3rd time I saw someone recruiting 10 crest runs only. So if I am seeing it happen (and yes he kicked someone for not running 10 crests) how is that point incorrect? Because it’s strange how something I’ve actually already seen happen a couple of times is incorrect. I’m not theorizing here it already happened.

You're better off as F2P getting ATI and buying 2 star legendaries for upgrades and then selling gems to buy 1 stars in the auction house for fodder. This will get you up to a respectable 1k resonance. FA's are so rare to drop a 5 you are screwing yourself.

Whats the main use for the ATI runes? You can get a bunch of those also.
You need ati runes to craft a specific legendary gem. You combine the ati runes with the other weird runes to craft different specific gems. So if you have loads backed up you could use them to craft some cheap 1* gems to then upgrade your main ones
They basically brought back rune words. You can craft all of the 1 and 2 star legendary gems (and use them to equip or to break down for feeder material). You get plenty of these through playing the regular content in the game :)
18x22=396. 396/8=49.5 so that mean you need 50 runs and limit is 200 per weak that mean 200/8= 25 runs a weak( no more cuz is no point if you not gonna get any stuff from it) that mean you have spend 2 weeks farming rift to get 1 gem that you can sell on market. it's bit to long in my opinion and cost of crafting gems should be bit leat especially its random and dropping 1 star trash just like in my case

Might wanna tell people the truth there bud. The chance of getting a 5 star gem from trading 22 fa runes for the random unbound gem is less than 0.005 percent. Also, IF you get a 5 star to drop, it will only ever be a 2 of 5 star gem. You will never get 3, 4 or 5 out of 5 stars with this method.

A "white gem" drops (5/5) at say two stars or say five, can be upgraded in level but cannot be upgraded in star rank. It can however be leveled up to 10.
This is why he had been chasing a 5/5 five star gem to be upgraded to level 10 and where the insane power comes from.
His "spend for science" is an amazing stream idea that is always at 20k and up viewers.
Also when upgrading gem level do not use "auto fill" for gems as it will destroy gems even of a higher level. The dust and lower gems to upgrade these are more then a few hundred each. Just mind blowing.

It takes runes to gamble for a gem. So you have to choose between severely reducing your ability to upgrade gems or a minuscule chance for a higher level gem…. Even if you get a 5 star as a F2P, the upgrade requirements are crazy.
The runes you use to craft a random legendary are ONLY used for that. They aren't used to craft any other gems or upgrade anything.
The biggest issue is that f2p players don't even have the chances to craft this once a week. Your weekly cap is appx 240 embers per week. And you need 396 to get enough FA runes for a chance at a 5 star
True, but free is free. There’s other ways too. Can buy one legendary gem with hilts a week. Sell inbound gems on ah and use profits to buy gems on ah. Many different way to earn for free. It won’t be 100 a month, but you can early 5-10 a month if you work at it.

Leeroy you explained quite well. the issue here is the caps. to convert the dust into FA runes, you have to divide the 22 needed runes by 18 dust price per rune; that alone brings you to 396 Dust cost per 1 time random cast. as mentioned in your video your weekly cap is 200 direct farmed and + 120 bonus which means you can at max, have a 320 Dust income per week. so the 396 Dust cost for crafting 1 time random gem is already more than 1 week of farming, with fully maxed out gain; that being said, you then also have those drop chances giving you a 95% chance for it to suck ass and be just as bad as when you just crafted 1 star and 2 star gem right away. so it's a massive loss you take in the long run, since it's very likely to be bad quality, and you can only do 2 in 3 weeks at max, meaning you get pretty much no real chance on hitting those 5% better quality consistantly.
now, here is how to do it better: craft as many 1 star gems as possible dirctly, both from direct recepie and 7 FA rune recepie (which you can do much more frequent with just 126 dust per craft; your chances of getting a better gem on the other recipe are countered by you being able to craft 2-3 times per week, giving you much more gems overall. those aren't tradable; trade the other gems, you dropped, if you really need to swap them up on the market for getting any 2 star gems. going above 2 star you'd again sit there for several month just farming to get the needed amounts; level up your gems that you wear, on 1 star until they cap out. go with fully leveled 1 star gems into the next higher tier with 2 star gems, once you have that. you're overall power will be much more reliable and faster achieved.
the real chance for a 5 star gem from the recepie with 22 FA runes is not even 1 % it actually is 1% from the 4,5%, which is more like 0,00045; that in percent is a 0,045% chance for an actual 5 Star on crafting the recepie at max 2 times every 3 weeks giving you a total of 36 tries(= 54 weeks divided by 3 is 18, times 2 is 36) PER YEAR!!! 36*0,00045 = 0,0162 chance or 1,62% chance for a whole year of doing the recepie to actually get a 5 Star gem. in the same time you can have 17'280 Dust (54*320) crafted into 1 star gems = (17280/126=) 137,14... gems of low quality, over the same time of 1 year. 140 gems put into use compared to a 1,6% chance of having one single 5 Star gem after a whole year of farming every week to max capacity, is a huge difference!!
now we got no real data on that, but the 137 gems of low quality should also raise the pity counter for dropping a higher quality gem whenever you do run a legendary crest from hilt trader and battle pass. but that can't be confirmed to be sure, it's only an esitmate; even if that might not kick in, you still get a whole 100 extra gems compared to doing the 5 star random chance craft. (137-36='101)

I've done this 3 times so far. First two were 1 star, Third time was a 2 star. Haven't gotten lucky yet, but it's Diablo so just keep grinding!
Technically you did get lucky. 2 stars are a 20% drop rate and you for 1/3 so 33% drop rate… so you got quite lucky :) I did 10 legendary crests today and they were all 1 star. Rng gods giveth and they taketh away.

People focus too much on odds for 5/5. 2/5, 3/5, and 4/5 odds are much better and relatively close on power. I was the #1 pvp necro for season 1 and I had one 4/5, and two 3/5 . Then two one star and some 2 star gems. Nothing close to maxed out except for one rank 10 one star. Perspective is important….

True. But the awakening bonuses aren’t that insane. Normally 10% to dmg or cooldown or health to a summon etc, AND requires level 10 gems. I.e. harder for F2P to get and not that big of a deal to miss.

Getting a 1 star from this method is demoralizing. It takes you over a week to roll once and it’s mostly one star. I could just just roll for the 1 star for only 7 fa runes. Instead of 22.

So you need 18*22=396 embers to roll once. You need to roll on average 20 times for a 5 star (?/5). So it’ll take you roughly 25 weeks to get one. Am I doing this right?
I’m a bit tired as I write this but on average you are close. I’ve done the math on my drops and I have averaged “above average” luck. About one ?/5 per 15 or so “rolls”

I really am saddened that they have made this game into nothing but a dam cash grab, honestly sickened by it. Loved Diablo, DII, & D3 I only played mildly as Witch Doctor, but still loved the trilogy.. Unfortunately I had waaay higher hopes than I should have - with this installment into the Diablo Saga. I knew it wouldn't be everything the same/what we were used to, but it feels like such an entire entity for the worse.. I'm not 1 of those losers saying ' Oh uninstall that crap. Such a waste of time. Etc. Etc. ' but I really came to the conclusion roughly the first week that there was no sense in me actually making a run for top players on the server since I'm not able to spend double, or single digit thousands of dollars on this game to even be in the running for top 250 players of the server smh.. Sadly I couldn't even afford to spend hundreds to a thousand on this at the moment..
BUT I COULD SPEND - Hundreds to thousands of HOURS on this game and already have spent a rough couple hundred hours on it already. Before I went off on my tangent, I was saying that I have made the decision to just coast back and not even really attempt pvp much since it's such a 1 sided affair, & the game as a whole isn't getting my full ambition towards it, as it should. When you know no matter how lucky on drops, how much you grind, how long you spend amassing Every & Any Things.. There's always going to be a 1 sided part to the entire game as a whole, & sad to say F2P got hit with the shittiest end of ANY stick that could have been pushed by Blizzard. What happened to pay $ for the game, & then grind your ass off to be the top dogs. That's just my $ .02 worth about it.

Was it bound or unbound? Unless you got it through a purchased crest, it’s not traceable. However even a level 2 4/5 is more powerful than a 10/10 1 star gem so your most likely made the right decision to use it.

It’s not about defending or not defending. I’m separating the quality of the game from the extra p2w mechanics. They are options and ppl shouldn’t be thinking they’ll get many extra benefits for free, but there are “some”. Think of them as Costco samples, you won’t keep yourself fed from them but it allows you to leech some power over time. Them be the rules of freeloaders. Free is free. And paid is paid.

And of those 10 gems I got 3 5 stars… you heard it right, I had a 30% drop rate of what is statistically a 5% per crest chance. Lol was nuts. Happened just a few hrs ago.

Lol what a joke. Maybe 1 per week. 4 per month running about 20 to 30 rifts a week in group. This game makes me sad. I sunk in about 40 hour in ranked in the top 15 in the server on rifts and the grind is absured now.
If I were to do this that would mean that I would have the equivalent of having a total of six legendary crest. Three from crafting, and three from the game with a level one character. When you get introduced to Elder Rifts you get a legendary crest. Then you can get another from the hilts trader. And a third one from the battle pass. So within one month I would get around six chances at a five star legendary gem. I don't know if that would be better or it would be better to just get a two star legendary gem and sell them on the market to build up the platinum where I could afford a five star gem.
For 1/2 star gems just craft them directly. They use different runes you can get from playing
you cant sell any if the legendary gems you get on the market unless you buy the ETERNAL legendary crest off the cash shop with orbs. the crests you get with hilts, the battlepass, boon, prodigy path, shop bundles, or any other method excpet purchased with eternal orbs will not be sellable on the market. spend accordingly.

I completely understand why people think this game is pay to win, but as someone who grew up playing wizard101 and literally had to pay to play the pve in every zone, this game's pve is looking pretty sweet! Here’s the good news: many of the gems are good for many builds. Maybe not all best in slot but I’ve had no problem getting a variety of gems. You can also manually craft any 1 or 2 star gem
There is ONE question I have. I just upgraded my legendary gem, and the star rating did NOT go up, just something called ranking. Is there a way to upgrade the star level, or am I wasting my time upgrading a 2 star gem?
You have an opportunity to upgrade star ratings at certain points. For example, I believe you can upgrade a two star to a three star at rank four if I remember correctly. If you started with a gym at three star you would save those resources and obviously not need to go from 2 star to 3 star. To the best of my knowledge is all happens automatically. So there is no such thing as a rank 10 three star gem. All ranked 10 gems will be a five out of five star. The difference is that it will take a lot more to upgrade a natural three star gem to five star Dan one that you found as a rank one five star gem. I hope that makes sense
