@@jasonu3741 you're 100% right and most of that is what I tried getting at here. I think it's important to take the early journey into rank five 2 star gems for the magic find, resonance, ease of access, and just general total gem power on your account. Then PVE only players can stay here, or PVP players can move into 3/5+ gems for resonance. The good part about 3/5 gems is most are same cost as 2/5, or within maybe 4k plat so it's an easy early buy with no real lost value. My personal strategy is to take 3/5s to rank 3 and for the rank 4 upgrade moving them up to 4 or 5 star depending on plat cost of that gem. I plan on leaving my gems at rank 3 until I get a couple, then moving them all from 3 to 4 slowly at the same time. It's hard to immediately recommend a 4/5 just due to many f2p players I assume might not have enough time to farm 12 unbound gems every day, so the road to affording a 4/5 will take most much longer but a 3/5 is much easier to hit without any future loss when you eventually want to upgrade to 4/5 or 5/5. I haven't yet mathed the resonance per platinum cost, so thank you for sharing! But at face value I'd hope everyone can see how inefficient it gets rank 6-10 on 1 star or 2 star gems, and anybody caring about resonance should leave at rank 5 and focus on getting 3/5+ gems from that point since the total gem power per resonance is much lower, and there's no need to even take a x/5 to rank 5+ even in the short term if what you care about is resonance for PVP
This is helpful. However, as someone who has grinded from the beginning I think I'd take a slightly different route than what you're saying here. No 2 star upgrading - not even 1 star. If you had been playing from the beginning and just got your 12 gems every day - assuming you can sell them all for 400 (I know this is only for merged servers but keeping a number simple is easiest) you'd have 730k platinum just from that. Adding in at least another 50k plat (this is a guess). With that platinum, the free gems you get each week, you could easily have all 6 5 star gems slot filled and at at least rank 2 which would bring you to 840 resonance. Just one upgrade beyond that, which wouldn't be all that hard, would get you to around 930 resonance. Now, this is assuming you only had rank 2 5 star gems. However, with all that platinum, you'll likely find really good prices on 3 stars or maybe chance upon a 3 or 4 star with your free gems. This puts you over 1k in the 6 month time period with a lot of potential to upgrade. Assuming you can earn about 120 plat or so a month you should have no problem getting your gems to rank 3 - 1300-1400 resonance within another month from now. Just seems like the way to go to not hault your progression. Just my two cents.
Makes sense to me, definitely someone with the time to grind all their normal gems could take another path for sure. My method is definitely for the average F2P player, and a good thing with the starting at 1 and 2 star gems is you don't lose any value considering they're all at gem power value anyway and you can eventually feed them into a x/5 for an immediate rank 2 or 3, at no value loss since the gem power is the same you put into the 1 or 2 stars. One thing to consider is my method helps give you incremental power too, so for someone wanting to participate in different pvp activities you'll have a bit more power. One thing I considered was the cost of x/5 gems over time, and even now most 3/5 are on par with 2/5 cost, I could even see 4/5s dropping too since a player only needs a single 4/5 or 5/5 copy then will only need 2/5s for the duplicates. Of course it's a gamble and 3/5+ prices could go higher when you're ready to replace your lower star gems but I thought it was a worthwhile risk

Nice video, but I must correct you a bit. Using embers for eternal legendary crest is only the second best option for their usage. As you were complaining about nothing to do with the runes, then i'm about to give you one thing to do with them. And since you have acumulated so many, this method will help you for a long time. As you probably know, in average, one leg crest is worth 3 gem power. So when you buy that, it will cost you 18 * 22 / 3 = 132 embers per GP. But when you use embers to convert ati runes from other runes, it will cost you 15 * 7 = 105 embers per gem power. So you see, this is 20% more effective, but normally you will run out of runes. If you claim all the possible rare crests, you get 35 of them per week, converting the runes you get from there, will cost you 120 embers. Hmm, its funny, yes? You get 120 bonus embers if you run crests.
You're definitely not wrong, since using embers to convert runes is definitely more consistent gem power, and quicker, but in the long run the legendary crest will benefit you more if you want to raise resonance. Especially since at a certain point (that i've already reached) is if you want to start running 5 stars for resonance, the reason you can't upgrade them isn't going to be gem power, but obtaining the duplicates since you can realistically only do so with platinum. Now someone that can farm the 12 unbound gems every day and has a good selling market for them, they could actually be short on gem power. Or someone going for 1* and 2* gems past rank 5 would find more use converting runes, but that would be a PVE only focused player. I kind of want to remake this to further explain the strategy for each type of player, since your gem setup as a F2P is entirely based on that

Blizzard need to allow players to salvage 5 skill ranked skill charms if they can't/don't want to sell them on the market. I have an uprated to 5 skill charm which I can't sell cos all the skills only have 2%, so I would lose 500 platinum to make it into a skill stone and not be able to sell. A big waste of platinum.
I think I know what you mean, sorry if I don't understand properly. With charms, ranking it up to 5 will always have five skills at 2%, it will never roll higher by ranking the charm up. When you imbue a skill stone onto a charm, it randomly picks 1 of the 5 skills, and then it separately rolls between 2% - 10% bonus at that time. If you're just looking to sell skill stones, you want to look for desirable skills of course but it really only matters to get at least 1 useful skill, but it will always be 2% when you sell it.
@@kras5785 Oic, I thought if all the skills are 2% on the stone, then that's what you get when you roll them. I still think 500 platinum is a bit too high to change them, I would rather salvage it and get maybe a bit of platinum instead of sell on the market. I have put a 2 DH skilled stone on for sale but just didn't sell in a week,. It's sat in my chest now, no use to anyone.
Definitely a struggle for me as well since the server merge. You can still usually sell for 1500-2000 if at least one good skill is on it. I like to try and look through all class skill stones to see which class whales seem to buying more for
For some people, the fun is in the grind, or even being able to see how close you can get to spenders without spending yourself. But definitely if you stop having fun, no reason to keep playing. And who knows, maybe some updates soon can make everything way more fun
No where near impossible. I did it, and plenty of others with more time than me are even further ahead completely f2p. It all just depends how much time you play and being smart with what you're buying. It took me about 5 months from when I started, and I hadn't received a single x/5 drop until about 4.5 months in. Granted, I did get a lucky bound 4/5 frozen heart which definitely helped, but I had the platinum saved for a 3/5 of a less desired gem of my choice.
You can do it bro, just keep on grinding and don't focus on x/5 gems until you get rank 5 two stars in all slots, and you might even get a random lucky drop before you reach that goal

Tourmalines, Sapphires, Citrine, Topaz and Aquamarine's still sell for 400 plat though
12 unbound gems per day
84 unbound gems per week
336 unbound gems per month
selling at 400 plat each gets you 134,400 plat after the 15% Auction House cut thats 114,240 plat per month.
that allows me to buy a 4 star gem per month (Zwenson, Frozen heart, Chipped, Howlers Call, Pheonix Ash) BSJ and Bile are far too expensive
getting a 4 star gem to rank 2 only requires 50 gem fragments and nets you 180 resonance
getting a 1 star gem to rank 10 requires 201 gem fragments and nets you 150 resonance
getting a 2 star gem to rank 5 requires 81 gem fragments and nets you 150 resonance
This makes saving up to buy a 4 star gem per month the most effecient way to increase resonance even if you account for the 80-90k plat spent on the initial gem (divide the gem price by the cost of your average 1 star on your server) so in your case if the cost of 1 gem fragment is 900 plat
1* to rank 10 = 180,900 (900x 201)
2* to rank 5 = 72,900 (900x 81)
4* to rank 2 = 45,000 (900x 50) + 85,000 (avg 4*) = 130,000
This means the 1* is costing you 1206 plat per 1 resonance
This means the 2* is costing you 486 plat per 1 resonance
This means the 4* is costing you 722 plat per 1 resonance
now the kicker is the 1* value is has capped out, the 2* value is cut in half after rank 5 and the 4* Value doubles after rank 2
so lets look at a rank 3 4* gem vs the rank 6 2*
2* to rank 5 = 94,000 (900 x 105)
4* to rank 3 = 67,500 (900x 75) + 40,000 (2* duplicate) = 107,500
This means the 2* is costing you 3,133 plat per resonance (+30 resonance for 94,000plat)
This means the 4* is costing you 1,194 plat per resonance (+90 resonance for 107,500 plat)
and then theres the fact to even hit 1k resonance you need a 3*+ gem to begin with as you cap out at 900 resonance without it (not counting putting gems inside gems which would be pointless as F2P)
Its better to save up and buy the 4* with 1* and 2* gems at rank 5 used as your Magic find place holders then any other path.

@@kras5785 ya looked at it yesterday on my server and computed, still 1* gems are more cheaper
@@jeromekevinmenor2757 nice part about that is you can always buy the good deal 1* gems as you get the platinum too, not needing to save up 30k+ for each chunk of gem power!
i thought it was maybe a bit easy but this is impossible for solo player like me. Maybe this game is just one time hype then i will be deleting it until im done.
It's sat in my chest now, no use to anyone.
and f2p, how come you have orbs?
Great question! They're leftover from the Halloween cosmetic on my character that my wife gifted for me
Decent advices bro though the progress u make without buyng bundles in this game is insignificant. Dont waste your time animore with it.
Thank you! I definitely see what you mean, but I don't mind the grind right now and not many other games I feel like playing currently
No one buy skill stone in my server
Definitely a struggle for me as well since the server merge. You can still usually sell for 1500-2000 if at least one good skill is on it. I like to try and look through all class skill stones to see which class whales seem to buying more for
all this is a waste of time just have a lil fun and move on. that is how you win this game
For some people, the fun is in the grind, or even being able to see how close you can get to spenders without spending yourself. But definitely if you stop having fun, no reason to keep playing. And who knows, maybe some updates soon can make everything way more fun
I think this vid. Is for the views only.its impossible for the f2p
I really like your replied bro. Thanks a lot .noted with thanks ....
@@vhanreinoagravio7966 any time! I'm always happy to help 🙂
You have no idea of what you're talking about!!
why ur charatcer look liek that
This game is a joke.... Thank God I only played few months and spent less than 100 on.. I started watching UA-cam for tips tricks and just abunch people complaining about having to pay to get anywhere.... ill keep up with news about game but until shit changes I'm just a spectator waiting on diablo 4 !!
I definitely see what you mean, the grind is not for everyone and for anybody really into pvp it can be disheartening for sure. You basically have to accept your best chance in pvp is a support build unless you grind hard or spend a lot of money.
Blizzard has shown slight improvements over time for f2p, but I don't expect anything too drastic unless the player base drops off harder
I agree if enough stop playing it will force them to change or reap the losses and move on ! Its still got along one to go b4 ill step back in ! I just play D2R and pvp to pass till D4 !! Lol
@@1BigDaDo I never got a chance to play other Diablo games, I might have to check them out when I get the time. Definitely any updates to improve F2P players I'll go over right away on my channel so I'll be one of the first to let you know!
@Julian Yeah I'm sure if someone is trying to push max BG rank or participate in Rite of Exile PVP can be rough then, but for sure playing casually is still enjoyable. Sometimes there'll be high res players, but sometimes you still win and that feels great. And if you lose, it's no big deal because you can't win every game.
