      No problem and these things have been solid! I have one downstairs and one upstairs. It’s great to be able to keep track of runtime. Also, I suggest setting a daytime schedule and a nighttime schedule to optimize energy consumption. We do that and also use geofence, so that the temperature automatically adjust when we’re both away to save energy. I will say that I used Nest prior to this and the T5 is so much better!

    Thank you for this video! Super helpful and educational.
    We just installed this thermostat today. We had an old school Honeywell that had the buttons. Only difference was ours has an O wire and an R. After install, I called tech support and it turns out I had set the unit to conventional instead of heat pump LOL. Oh well it works wonderfully. And the app, schedules, plus manual option at the thermostat itself make it worth the investment. What type of HVAC units do you have? This one works with our Goodman.

      Awesome! My two units are Carrier and I have two T5s. Be sure to check out geo-location if you haven’t already. I have it set to where when both my wife and I are away from home, it changes the temperature to save money. It works great!

    Just asking, is it possible to remove the old internal electrical components from the old thermostat and use it as part of your mounting hardware to prevent exposing the previous location, hopefully there won't be a need to paint? I don't know if its possible. Just asking.

    • @IrixGuy

      I took the lazy approach. Your best bet would be to use drywall repair, sand and then paint to make a professional installation :)

    Great video @IrixGuy's Adve and thanks for making this video. Question, how did you feel about those terminals for the wire? We are taking back the RTH9585WF because the terminals are a push plastic and broke off fairly easy. These ones look different, but plastic..

      There should be hidden wires behind the wall if your 3 wires was only connected to your furnace or something.

    My wife and I moved recently. Our new home had a smart thermostat. She hated the smart thermostat. I replaced it with a Honeywell basic thermostat that was a set it and forget it model with up/down arrows to change the themperature. No wifi, no bluetooth, just walk up to it, set it and forget it. Modern confusing technology is very annoying to some people.

      You can control the T5 from the display itself. My wife disliked it initially too but dollars saved trumps excess spend. We both have the Honeywell App installed with geo-fencing enabled, so it adjust the temperature to save energy while we are away from the house. Also, I set sleep and daytime temperature schedules. Our larger HVAC unit is the downstairs one, so during the day in the summer, I make the upstairs two degrees cooler. That results in less runtime for the larger and more expensive to operate downstairs HVAC in the summer. When bedtime hits, another schedule lowers the temperature to make it cooler for sleeping. That way we're not keeping it as cold 24x7. During the winter, the same is true except we set downstairs to be warmer than the upstairs. It's well worth it. Save a few utility bills, buy your wife some wine and flowers and then reinstall a smart thermostat like the Honeywell T5. Cook dinner and share those old utility bills (previous thermostat) with new utility bills (smart thermostat) and show her who was right =). #SmartHome #T5

    Too complicated, just give me on/off.

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  Рік тому +1

      That's the beauty of this smart thermostat.....no need to fiddle with on and off. I set schedules for sleep and daytime use and it has radically reduced my utility bills. The only "button" that I push is within the app when I switch from AC to Heat seasonally. I have thoroughly enjoyed these two thermostats and they have paid for themselves several times over, thanks to my utilities savings!
