thank you for sharing these tips about picking a team and finding a good team fit, Harshibar! My biggest hope is that I can befriend one or two people on my new team. In the past, being around inspiring people helped me feel motivated and put things in perspective too. Congrats on completing a half-marathon (*fist bump*)!!
I remember this was the book that was recommended by a girl who was giving interview in that day at Adobe and I had further round a day after I went through it I thought I would have known it in my college days I could crack it early. I did well at my interview n got finally selected at Adobe. It's amazing 😊
I 100% agree on team being super important. I've actually been on the same team for almost 5 years because I knew what I wanted in a team/work environment. One filter question I had when interviewing with teams is whether they ate together at lunch and if not then why not. And I only knew to ask that question because I had interned on a team where we didn't eat lunch together and it wasn't the best experience. *I asked this question to companies that provide free food where it's more likely that people will eat together at lunch
What a great tip! 💡 At the previous startup I worked at, we ate lunch every day and it really helped us bond as a team and thus, work better together. I wonder how companies can maintain that team culture even while remote?
@@harshibar We've had a bunch of fun virtual events (doing puzzles, trivia, games, giving fun presentations about random stuff), but I think at this point a lot of people (me included) have "zoom fatigue" and so we haven't really had any bonding experiences in a while. I think a weekly boba delivery would be good for morale 😋
Another great video! You covered few important things that are often given less importance. All the best on your product journey and hopefully you will land with a bunch of offers.
@@harshibar This is a hidden secret that you have mentioned in your video and kudos to you for that! It is so important to look for what team you will be working with. Prestige is something that often people fall for. Big names, influence, etc. Secondly, a good salary = a good job is often a great misconception. More than anything else, it is the bunch of people whom you will be working with that is something of prime importance and one of the reasons why people say they hate their job. Thank you again for bringing that up :)

Bullshit, if you are priviledged enough to be selective about where you work by getting multiple offers sure, duh chose where you think you will fit better in but most people just want a job, and we would work anywhere as long as no abuse, etc.

Ah, that makes sense. I'd never say no to weekly boba! 🧋
I'd prefer not to eat together. I am an introvert

Thank you! 🙏 and yeah, I think things like prestige and salary are important, but definitely not as much as the people you’ll be working with :)
