Just spotted this issue with my 1.4 sxi, thanks for the heads-up. Will try this out!
Thanks for this video I thought I had a major problem coz of the oil leak tried this fixed in 10 mins 15 quid
Awesome. Same problem on a tigra twintop and was pulling my hair out from where it leaks. Nice one.
Just got charged £36 to get this done and it fixed the problem
Great video! Thanks for the help:)
Thank you . I have same engine and oil leak around that area , I also have oil leaks around the other side of the engine but I got some of the cleaner you were using and I intend to crack down on all oil leaks , thank you for the video.
eonutz thank you good luck
I have an oil leak on my 2012 Astra, will check tomorrow if that's what causing it.... If it turns out to be right I'll owe u few pints 🍺🍺 my friend 😁
excellent video thanks
Cleaning first works well.
Same problem with my1.4 sxi thanks
Same situation happened in mine Astra.
Thanks.
Honestly, the head has been pissing oil out of the head so I had to do this, change the rocker gasket and attempt to clean the oil ways in the cover. Not the greatest engine.....
Watch in x2 speed.
The first problem I had with the astra was the pressure switch leaking oil
I was looking for this. Have the same issue. Dunno how to clean Old oils. Tried one but it atill stays. Thanks for video.
Hi please use brake cleaner en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brake_cleaner
Mine is leaking and I have been so worried I will try this for sure
Great Video! Solved one issue for me but the other is the crankshaft seal and im struggling without impact driver any tips of video recommendations please
hi have you used the crankshaft locking tool,
@@MustangMotors Hi thank you for the response. No I haven't would you be able to send me a link to pick one up or order online please.
Thanks again

This car also has rocker cover gasket leaks. There is oil all over the exhaust heat shield
I have the same engine. When unscrewing the oil filling cap, the cap lifts up by its own, instead of being sucked down onto the engine opening. Is this positive pressure inside the valve gasket normal? I thought inside the valve gasket there is a negative pressure.
Hi it can be PCV valve www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254052368616
Hi thanks for video. Would you think genuine or lucas would be better choice?
Hi I do prefer genuine but Lucas is cheaper choice.
Me going to open hood later today and me wishes this to be the solution to my bromplem
dont use more break cleaner on rubber surface !
Same on Corsa D 1.2. Thank you for the info. What is this called please, I am not engine savvy but wish to be
It’s called engine oil pressure switch
you sure it's not the rocker cover gasket too? you got oil everywhere!
Hello mate, thanks for this vid, I've got a 08 astra van 1.4 petrol, started leaking oil, couldnt see where from, will now check my pressure switch .
Would the leak cause the oil to fall onto and cover the left hand side cross member? Not getting any puddles in floor but cross member always soaked in oil .
When running hot the oil light flickers too when stationery. Stops when moving.
Appreciate any reply and you posting this vid. Cheers
Tan Coyer hi mate, what I do is clean and inspect the leak area with engine on idle. On axle stand safely. Did you mean left hand side passenger side?
@@MustangMotors Hello mate, I meant the right hand drivers side, but its on the left looking in the engine bay , didnt think lol
Im gonna hopefully get a switch tomorrow, im sure its that the more i look,
its due a service too so i'll change it see how it goes, then during service check everything else is ok once its up in the air.
I have a corsa D 2007 and I have topped up almost 6-8 litres of engine oil. Could this be the issue?
Hi if you have a engine oil leak then yes 👍 or if you haven’t then the engine is burning engine oil either from PCV valve etc
I have just replaced mine and it's still leaking out if the connection end ( not the thread ) any ideas ?
What it new, you can claim warranty
What is the part called ??
Hi, i got astra 2009 1.6 , came some smoke in the same area, i think is oil smoke , but after is starts to heat up , the smoke is stop. Is happening to someone, solution is the video? Thanks
Yes if you disconnect the oil pressure sensor wiring you will find oil in the connector, it indicated you have a leak and smoke is from the oil burning in exhaust manifold
Probably a stupid question but what causes it to go in the first place?
Chrissy boy Rapper hi there, I think it’s age of the vehicle.
Oh I see, thank you
@@chrissyboyrapper3427 From what I can gather the diaphragm fails due to either age and/or excess pressure ;) Another one of mine just failed on a vauxhall astra :( and only yesterday I was driving at high rpm in third gear so I suppose that high pressure could be the cause of it.
Hi mate, my car oil leakage brought me to this video. I have Astra G 1.8 and its leaking oil as well from engine, should it be the switch problem?
Hi mate have you checked the oil leak! Where is the oil leaking from?
@@MustangMotors Hi mate i have cleaned the oil and drove for a while just to chcek it the oil leaks come again on engine so i could know that. But it seems to me i didn't see oil after cleaning it i am still working on it to check if the leakage exist, and where it is from
Is this the same part for Astra 1.4 Sri turbo can’t seem to find it
Hi it’s non turbocharged only
hi mate , my corsa d 1.4 was misfiring i have checked it on computer it says o2 sensor i changed them but after few days back to the same , went to garage they said that because of the leaking , they changed the oil pressure switch in few days back the same , it really nightmare . any idea whats the problem ? thanks
hi when you checked on the computer did it say misfiring on any cylinder? and have you still got engine oil leak from the oil pressure switch?
@@MustangMotors it says O2 sensor 1 O2 sensor 2 with about 10 deferent faults but everything is fine only the miss fire and spending too much petrol + white smoke
By the way i replace both sensors new genuine cost me £190
@@alial-azawi7852 I am sorry I don't think I can help you, you have already change o2 sensors. I don't want to mislead you into replacing other parts. can you try your local garage
@@MustangMotors hi sorry not the op but my astra H 1.6 low oil level light comes on every 2-3 weeks. Ive changed oil, done an engine Flush, change oil filters, new rocker cover. Don't see any visible oil coming out of the sensor or rocker cover gasket... However when I did remove the engine light on the dash with my obd2 reader it did say it had misfiring cylinders. However no light has reappeared on my dash since....apart from this oil light level every 2-3 weeks...
Sorry can u tell me what’s the part is called that u took out and put back in
Shumon Ali hi there Oil pressure switch Part no 55354325 genuine & SOB835 Lucas
Mustang Motors thank u very much also can u tell me if I have to drain the oil out to do this or can I just take it out and put it back on.thanks
Shumon Ali hi no you don’t need to drain the oil, just check and top up if necessary.
Good video, the location of the switch the same for an Astra J?
Tyrese T yes it is all sensor are on that side
@@MustangMotors are you able to make a video for a astra j or maybe a link or picture or a schem.
@@963hzz2 what engine size do you have?
@@MustangMotors Astra J 1.6 petrol
Probably noob question, but: Do I need to empty oil from engine to do this?
Hi no you don’t need to do that, Just check and top up the engine oil if necessary.
@@MustangMotors Thanks. My new-old astra with z14exp used about 2l of oil in its first 400-500 km and i need to find out if IT leaked or was burned. I will check this place first.
Would this be the same parts for a 1.4 Corsa ?
yes with the Z14XEP engines
Hi mate.
My Astra is A14XER.
Would it be the same oil leak problem?
hi yes its same mate
@@MustangMotors thanks
I have astra 1.6 that has oil leak. Does this apply on that engine as well?
B O O M hi yes it’s same, does your car have that oil pressure sensor?
@@MustangMotors Thats what i too wonder. I bought astra few days ago and missed to check oil. Drow it around 50 miles and home at my friend mechanic we discovered that there was almost no any oil left in car and that oil filter havent been changed in years. We flushed the engine and filled it with new motor oil. But there is also leaking going on somewhere. It is Astra 2004 Caravan with 1.6 engine.
B O O M you will need to top up engine oil up to level max, and basically open bonnet and start the engine and see if there are any leaks on the floor. If there are no signs of external oil leaks then it may be head gasket.
What do you think of "engine oil stop leak"? Does that work?
B O O M you can try that alternative, it really depends until engine is fully diagnosed. Firstly you must get your car checked under the car safely, for any oil leaks.
I have the same car and each 2 weeks the oil goes from full to empty
Hope this cure the problem
Hello there. I'm thinking of doing this on my astra. Do you know if you have to drain the oil to do the oil pressure switch or can you just replace the switch without draining the oil ?
Thanks
siraj mahmood hi there no you don’t need to drain engine oil, just check the engine oil level after you done the job.
no, you get about a teaspoon worh of oil puring out when tou take the swith off. hold a rag underneath to catch, its at the top of the engine so oil doesnt really sit there much.
Timing chain has been noisy will this fix it?
mr_lifeline hi will help to prevent oil pressure and oil leak, have you got leak? If you have change this 1st then the noise!
Mustang Motors cheers!
It doesn’t have a timing chain.
@@gutworm686 yes it does
I have a 1.4 Astra as well and I have noticed some oil in a few parts on the engine. I have also noticed oil on the under part, right below the belt area(looking from under the car. Could this be a major issue?
Also, do you have a video for the cambelt change, ac compressor change for the same 1.4 model?
Thanks
hi sorry no I haven't got those videos, yes its a major issue in long run.
song name
B. Vladimir sorry I don’t know, I will start to update the song names in future videos
brake cleaner will eat everything made of rubber.
hi, thanks for the video. My Corsa D (same engine) started to leak oil overnight, I suspect it is this same issue. Did your leak start suddenly or was it gradual?
Thanks
Hal hi it was gradually
@@MustangMotors My mechanic just called to confirm it was the oil switch. It happened all of a sudden, there was an oil puddle under my car when I went to pick it up after work, but my house's parking lot was clean. Weird.
Hal yes it’s common on this engine. Now you should be all good for years
@@MustangMotors I hope so. Thanks.
Thanks.
