      Check the dipstick to see if the oil has mixed with the water if it did them it’s your head gasket

      I've had it both compression and block tested and I'm sure it's not the head. I also have an oil leak around that area somewhere and it finally drips around the cat. So I'm assuming it may be the cause of the oil leak along side of oil in the coolant. Thanks for the reply.

      Graham was it the oil cooler in the end - if not what was it (I got similar coolant in oil issue in my 2005 Barina)

    You're a wizard man. I had to pull my O2 sensor to get the exhaust out for the life of me. I couldn't get it to maneuver out with it in there still

    Great video, thanks.
    My 2009 Astra Elite 1.8 z18xer hasn’t the sludgy waters in the expansion tank.
    I’ve even bought another tank that I periodically clean and swap out.
    Butter definitely gonna do this now.
    Was going to get a new cooler but might just do the gaskets instead now.

    One note... In these cars with A/C, you can just take the cooling fan out and you will have plenty of room to get the manifold + front cat assembly out with no problem. There are 6mm (if I remember right) bolts at the top corners of the fan and the bottom just sits on little hangers. Remember to unplug the fan and then disconnect the fan plug wires (bottom left/driver's side) and the A/C wires (bottom right/passenger side) from the fan housing before lifting. Also, be careful not to damage the radiator.

    • @g_a_bofficial
      @g_a_bofficial  2 роки тому

      There is no need to remove the radiator.

    My Vectra was in the garage to have rocker cover gasket changed yesterday. He said the oil cooler is weeping. Said it'd cost £1,200 to fit a replacement. Roughly what should a garage be charging to replace the seals please? I can source a housing if it has warped, just wanted how many hours labour you'd think.

      Mine the manifold seems impossible to remove. All bolts came out, lift it up touch the air conditioner pipe. going down the gap is too small. The designed is not for replacement. Opel Astra. Never buy Opal/GM again.

    3:21 6:31 just for reference there's no power steering pump on that area ...that's the water pump housing
    Replacing the metal pipes is not really needed nor suggested by anyone unless damaged...as for reference too that is actually a heat exchanger but is always improperly called by everyone oil cooler

    • @iamasmurf1122
      @iamasmurf1122 3 місяці тому

      Remove front grill …three bolts along front gives you just enough to lift front metal part to get intake pipe out .. two bolts up top … under thd car disconnect fan wiring plug .. lift out assembly … one more small wire connected via a plug .. and you’d done
