  • Project complete! It was hard work getting to the point of planting but this last stage was actually the easiest bit.

Amazing Job. Love the way you choose the laurel speciemen shown on a earlier vid. Great insight on plants and where to use them best. As for the road. Best decision ever, to put a hedge there. Soft lush greenery against pollutet air, noise reduction and finally something for bees in terms of laurel. (Excuse my humble english, I'm native german)
I'm following your channel for quite some time now and I'm totally impressed. Keep up the good work!

Great stuff! We've been making a few changes to our front garden and were considering putting a hedge along the wall. However, as the wall is about 4ft high it would take many years before the hedge was tall enough to provide any form of privacy. It didn't even cross my mind to look at buying a well established hedge, which (although may cost more) would saves us many years of waiting! Time to start Googling! Thanks again, James & Monica

Thanks guys. Yeah they have worked really well and although our wall is
shorter than yours, I just couldn't bear waiting 4-5 years. For once
my impatience has paid off! Looking forward to seeing how to bushes out
over the summer. Good luck hedge hunting!

Love it! I'm planting a 25m Leylandii boundary in about a month. An online nursery wants £350 for 75 x 2-3ft plants, and theyll hit 6ft within a couple of years. Now i've got to make sure I keep them trimmed :)

I'm doing the same at the moment but with little Portuguese laura 1-2 ftl. These plants grow very fast and pretty hardy. I grew one in the garden and clipped it into a tree. It's now 2 metres after 4 yrs. Grown from a 25cm cutting too.

Where did you buy them from? From my search, I'm finding these laurels are more expensive than fencing. E.g. the cheapest I found was on eBay 4-5ft £43 per plant, excluding delivery.

So six years later, how do your Laurel hedge doing? would you do a follow-up video?
I find it interesting, because you have used really mature plants (almost like someone have dug out his established edge and offered it for sale), and from what I have heard, some landscaping experts always say that it is better of for a newly planted hedge to start with "smaller" plants so that they will mature and get to their full size while planted in their "final home" rather than having mature plants which needs a ton of food and water to climate again to a new location.

Catchy headline, "Plant and Instant Hedge"....but before (whenever that was) you get around to finally saying what hedge, I was too bored to continue - save all the angst and such for the rest of the video and get to the frickin' point as soon as the thing starts. Time is important to most of us and you are wasting it on anything and everything other than the name of the hedge plant promised by the 'tease' headline

    • @TheRestorationCouple
