I've decided to keep a pinned comment on things that I'm aware have been changed for the free to play experience since this video was made, and edit it as new things come to my attention. I may eventually do a seperate video on all these if enough changes occur, but until then, I'll compile them here: -Rules determining which enchants can be applied to low level gear have been completely reworked, and many more enchants may be available for you to experiment with -Players starting at level 10 are now able to use Skyriding, and players at level 20 can also swap to static flight, allowing flight for free to play characters -Warbands now allow transfer of items across other characters on your account, but unlocking more than 1 tab costs more gold than a free to play character can hold. You can still unlock 1 tab as free to play, but it will cost your entire gold cap of 1000 gold. Tabs unlocked while subscribed will still be accessible when the sub expires. I still consider it against the spirit of the challenge to transfer items from subscription characters, and so advise against it if you're in it for the challenge, though I'd encourage it if you just want to have some free to play fun and have previously deposited items in the bank -Zones, Dungeons, Transmogs from Dragonflight are now available for free to play characters -Evoker is now an available class for free to play -Item levels for gear, in general, has been moved around in many different areas, such as blue gear rising from ilvl 61 to ilvl 84, and the ilvl 87 warforged pieces up to ilvl 89. This could potentially have changed the balance between socketed TBC gear, and warforged WoD gear
@@uneasyexpression3016 the cap is actually unchanged, but for some reason, there's a cap of 999g, 99s, 99c on warbank withdrawals. You can withdraw that from the bank and kill a humanoid npc to get a copper drop to cap it up to 1k
thats the thing, right? the whole f2p environment is untouched by the meta gaming that's ruining the full game so much. Doing something like this gives you a chance to actually explore and figure things out again

You know, the Starter Edition wasnt always like this, infact, back in Cataclysm (where f2p WoW launched) you were only restricted to the starter Zones of each race like Orcs' Durotar and Northern Barrens. And Gold Cap was only 10G, and you could only que up 5 dungeons. Now it actually has a ton more content to do. Thanks to that overhaul, lvl20s can legit have access to one of the most braindead stuff and OP things that can break the game (IE-Twinking). Compared to now, back in Shadowland's pre-patch, the Heart of Azeroth neck was available to lvl20s and it was mechanically broken, as it had stats of a lvl 50+ item, imagine a Caster with 800+ INT on a lvl 20. It's so wild and gnarly.
ok looking at the settings for dynamiccam, here's the values I use for the important parts: Horizontal Offset: 0.5 Camera Over Shoulder Offset Adjust shoulder offset according to zoom level - ON 0.8 no offset when below this zoom level 1.2 Real offset when above this zoom level Vertical Pitch: ON 0.18 Pitch (on ground) 0 Pitch (flying) 0 Down Scale 0 Smart Pivot Cutoff Distance Target Focus: Enemy Target - OFF Interaction Target (NPCs) - ON 1 Horizontal Strength 0.75 Vertical Strength Head Tracking: OFF Immersion is almost entirely self explanatory toggles for its settings
and if you wanna get even more hands on with polishing it, swimming tends to get a little iffy with the camera using dynamic pitch, so i set up a custom situation setting using the following events: MOUNT_JOURNAL_USABILITY_CHANGED, SPELL_UPDATE_USABLE and the following condition return IsSwimming() and the only effect is to override the dynamic pitch settings with something less awkward
Well all the being able to play tbc dungeons and every other expansion at 20 is definitely a game changer especially mixed with gear scaling lol. Used to be very limited to what you could get for gear now it’s crazy how many options there is

It might be easier for you on RP servers, if you're seeking help from players with subscription. TRP lets you put a note on your character, where people will whisper trial accounts if they jump in front of them.
Its a good idea, lots of bored people on the realm, so at least it allows you to communicate on a platform that's active, thus bypassing blizzards restriction and allowing you to seek assistance from other players. Esp to run content you can't solo for year like strat

Unlike those who think us Rper's are just sex-crazed freaks, this person is 110% right. My server is one of the most active, and one of the friendliest in my opinion. TRP makes it easier to get an idea of people and what they're doing. I make profiles for my alts that don't I RP on.

Best damage by a long shot at low levels is probably Resto Shaman. They're so broken. You don't even have to heal because you chain lightning everything to death before your tank can take damage.
I remember leveling a blood DK and i was wondering how the healer had more dmg than me, it was close but it just said “28000 chain lightning” and i was just shocked literally
@@zaxor9057 healers do nutty damage at low levels. holy priests can clean sweep dungeons at lvl 10-15 or so by just clicking holy nova over and over again
I’m aiming to try being more active on UA-cam but this video In particular was a colossal effort, I’ll definitely be doing more videos of this style, but how often I can do them depends on what kind of project it’s about. Pros and cons of the classes, who it's easiest to solo stuff with, etc. I would love some info like that to help guide my class choice when I try f2p wow again. I also realize this is selfish, but just throwing an idea out there.
It's crazy to think that Hardcore WoW started as someone just like this who wanted to play the game differently and I can honestly see you stumbling upon something EVEN better than hardcore but for the retail community. I'm broke because I have a mortgage to pay off for the next 30 years. At least my car's paid off. But playing WoW without a subscription is a lot less stressful as well. I can just chill instead of stressing out about getting 370 item level gear for the new Kobold Khaos dungeon in Titanfarts or whatever to help Elune find the Cheeseburger of Domination so she/her can defeat Ghur'xurg'alax the Evil

Fun tip about the i50 restriction on some enchants. They still work if you use them on scaling gear such as heirlooms, if you enchant them before lv17 while they're still under i50.
I played level 20s for 2 years or so and prior to Dragonflight, it was a thriving community of Twinks, RPers and generally lovely people. Needless to say, it's missed.

I’m currently doing this. I have a level 20 demon Hunter ilvl87, full epics etc. My overall goal is to finish every quest in the game. Currently I’m at 4608 quest completed with Wrath and Cata the only expansions I haven’t done yet. At the time of writing this comment I’m grinding on Ogres in Nagrand for Kurenai reputation for the mounts. My account isn’t linked, it’s just full f2p. I’m on Moon Guard if you ever need tank or dps, I’m always down for dungeon grinding. (Nulltrial) I’m also down for any dungeons outside of the queue. Still haven’t finished a few of them. Edit: ah man I’m currently working on my bfa enchanting. I have to grind deep sea satin and tide spray linen to make epic bracers with tailoring, then disenchant for veiled crystals. To get max enchanting I have to get like 2k deepsea satin.
Can i ask what's your current collection status? how many mounts,pets, achievements, reputations and other things you managed to get on lvl 20 im really interested to know how far can you take it
@@mates9816 okay I’m home now, here are just some random things. I’ve been playing for 4 months so I haven’t gotten super deep. 5040 quest, 364 achievements, 107 mounts, 58 pets, 75 toys, 53 heirlooms, 44 completed leather transmog sets. 15 exalted reputations. Not sure what else to put atm
I love things like this! As someone who's currently levelling their own 'challenge character' but in a slightly different spirit, I found this video really informative. My character is locked at 59 and completing all quests/collecting all transmog & achievements from each expansion before moving on. Thank you for the video.
Great video, this definitely brought back memories for me. Your video reminded me of all the weird shit and painful grinds f2p had to do for +2 dps! When I was 11 or so I had no way to pay for a subscription, but was determined to play WoW anyway so I racked up a disgusting amount of time on the free to play mode. I remember stealthing all the way to Stranglethorn and camping Gurubashi Arena for the heirloom, among various other insane tasks. I ended up eventually buying a subscription and playing for many more years, but free to play will always be nostalgic.
I miss playing level 20 FTP twinks. Full gemmed ret pala and also had a boomkin with the epic Foam Spittle Staff from killing murlocs in westfall always hoping the green item would drop and upgrade to epic. This was I think in BFA
BiS is TRIPLE ROLL WoD Dungeon gear, first epic roll, second socket roll, third leech (BiS but avoidance and speed can roll too) its disgustingly rare, I have an absolute shameful amount of hours on my 10 Monk twink, and I have 2 peices triple rolled w/ leech or speed. Also have a set of socketed speed gear, you run extremely fast and can roll a dungeon in sub 4 minutes lol. I had to put it down because the high and chase for those triples consumed my life. Any-hoo, back to WoW Classic Hardcore consuming my life now 😂
I don't really dabble in classic much, besides it needs a sub to play which I'm currently short 1 of. My buddy @NOHITJEROME does tons of classic, though, and told me he wants to do more videos like this one, so you might like to keep an eye on his channel as well
I mean I'll be honest I did this years ago when the free to play model was first introduced, but it's wonderful seeing other players take part in the same fun. I used a hunter for my experience and it was pretty good.
Got an I-lvl 75 level 20 SV hunter and those dungeon bosses never stood a chance. Having a pet for tanking that's easy to heal is really great and I got lucky with a weapon on I-lvl 87. I haven't yet found a dungeon I couldn't solo. Even Stratholme is fairly easy although I gotta dismiss my pet for the boss that's using a mind control but at where I'm at, I out-gear that boss, luckily. I wanted to try the sword from the Strat final boss but it's not on the loot table for me. Btw., I'm also farming WoD mission table for those 5 gold each gear tokens you can keep in your bank for when you need gold again. The mission table doesn't provide nearly as much gold as back in WoD, but it's still worth while and I like these passive mechanics. And I wanna buy the mog mount next time I buy game time. Also, I think we could reach the mechanar in TBC with the darkmoon cannon toy via those pipe-things, but haven't tried, yet. interestingly, I also found the TBC-socket-gear and WF-gear combination to be my favorite. Thanks for confirming that to me by siming (at least for you paladin). Also, when all this is done and I got gear I'm really happy with... I'm really looking forward to doing old quest content like I originally intended to :D THanks for making this video. I thought I was alone with farming all this stuff on a basically worthless trial account :D
Nice video! My favourite time to twink was late legion doing speed sets, you could run insanely fast permanently, it always threw people if you hopped into any content running at that speed
i mean, i like the tavern and the reservists/torch bearer sections, and it was cool having molten core be hidden underneath it all, but everything else is confusingly laid out, and drags for longer than it deserves to. It's not AS bad now that there's a map, but the map we did get isn't incredibly helpful since its so segmented.
everything leading up to getting enchants shouldn't take all too long at all, It's really the enchanting that sucks all the time away, especially if you know from the start what to aim for, and go for Warforged gear instead of wasting as much time as I did in TBC

I know that I am a little late to the party but you absolutely can solo strathholm. It does take a long time but it is very possible because there are no insta-kill macanics. I ran the dugeon on a lvl20 to make sure and I could did it without dieing. Great video otherwise!

i dont have a wow sub......but 50cents a day is nothing, im down for the sub, i just refuse to pay for a new expansion in addition to a sub. so i only play classic if i do sub
i did this like 10 times back in the day in Vanilla-BC I was in hischool I didn't have anyway to pay for my membership so I would make new trial accounts over and over... back then you only got 10 days to play too so once you hit the 10 you had to make a new ACC or get a membership you could type in channel and public though but no PSTS or trades or mail/auction house.
the amount of time you used on this you could just have paid for 1 subscription and then farmed materials and sold for gold to then use the gold to buy the game time for the rest of your play time...
How is this a lot better than the latest paid version? You can combine lot of expansions into your gameplay when your trial as i can see wow… Retail version is only last expansion content.

Theoretically yes, and I prolly could’ve asked a friend for help, but I wanted to keep in the spirit of the restrictions, which includes limited chat functionality, so if it wasn’t from someone I could reach in the narrow limits of f2p chat, I didn’t want to solicit help, which is why all the help I got in this was from strangers I met in the dungeon finder
I actually have that on my main, but since it doesn't count as a toybox item (why blizz...) I couldn't use it on my trial and didn't wanna bother farming a limited time event item for the possibility of a trinket that might not even be any good. I mean, to show I'm not just tooting my own horn, I actually forgot about the cannon when I made the video, but there were other darkmoon faire items I willingly opted out of for that reason, so I'm not a TOTAL fraud!
I do this all the time when I get bored of the endgame. My level 20 twink, a windwalker monk, can solo every dungeon I have access to, and is fully decked in ilvl 87 versa/mastery gear.
Going through the enchants lately, It seems one of the patches between when this video was made and now changed the rules for item levels required to apply enchants to gear. So the section of this video talking about the best enchants MAY be out of date, and I'd encourage you to do your own experimentation if you're looking to do this yourself
Awesome video had a similar journey make 29 xpoff characters for my original heirlooms which were just sitting in the bank and locking each in a different chromie time. Played for change of pace but became a wow lite super fun I even made bags for expansion specific. I love your video awesome

Dude i did this back in 2008 when my account got bugged rolling from the tbc > wotlk upgrade, it became a wotlk account but couldnt download the wotlk files for whatever reason at the time. Left my in a 3 month limbo of trial account spamming.. Back when they were 10 days each haha, 10 hotmail accounts later I finally got my main account back working haha. This just gave me the ultimate nostalgia trip, love the vid man! The things I used to do just to play with my friends ay, WoW was social media before social media lol
I thought you will eventually switch to prot paladin, when farming for the rune blade, because Rammstein is sooo mich easier as a prot paladin. And aren't there ring enchants in BFA too? But a veeeery good video, loved it! And if you want to gear another toon, you can queue for bgs, look for level 20 pimps and check the armory from those characters. It helped me a lot, too! :)

Damn. I stopped playing WoW in 2010, a few weeks into Cataclysm. I think this kind of insane grinding would break me these days. And i was the second player on our server "Cult of the damned" who got the fast purple protodrake, after 2 years of grinding the seasonal events. Would have been the first but because of rng i missed one item from the christmas event and i had to wait another full year for the event to come back. I think it was one of the random mask drops. And there still was just one person before me because it was such a grindfest. I cant even imagine doing this today. And when Cataclysm dropped the purple drake was obsolete because of the new faster flying skill. They should have upgraded the purple protodrake accordingly. I mean you had to grind for at least a full year for that thing. And for that you got the fastest mount in the game. Until Cataclysm.

It's a combination of DynamicCam, and Immersion addons. I don't know the settings off the top of my head, but theyre pretty easy to customize

Free to play twinking has been big for a long time. Recently however its less popular since they removed the level 20 bracket in pvp.

@@TheWideMurloc Would be cool to see some different classes at lvl 20 bracket, but not as in depth. Just level to 20, and compare how they are at the start of 20 vs when they get some alright gear. Pros and cons of the classes, who it's easiest to solo stuff with, etc. I would love some info like that to help guide my class choice when I try f2p wow again. I also realize this is selfish, but just throwing an idea out there.

It's crazy to think that Hardcore WoW started as someone just like this who wanted to play the game differently and I can honestly see you stumbling upon something EVEN better than hardcore but for the retail community. THIS is truly an awesome video and idea my friend, pulled me away from my transmog runs to watch the whole thing

Fun tip about the i50 restriction on some enchants.
They still work if you use them on scaling gear such as heirlooms, if you enchant them before lv17 while they're still under i50.

I’m currently doing this. I have a level 20 demon Hunter ilvl87, full epics etc. My overall goal is to finish every quest in the game. Currently I’m at 4608 quest completed with Wrath and Cata the only expansions I haven’t done yet. At the time of writing this comment I’m grinding on Ogres in Nagrand for Kurenai reputation for the mounts. My account isn’t linked, it’s just full f2p. I’m on Moon Guard if you ever need tank or dps, I’m always down for dungeon grinding. (Nulltrial) I’m also down for any dungeons outside of the queue. Still haven’t finished a few of them.
Edit: ah man I’m currently working on my bfa enchanting. I have to grind deep sea satin and tide spray linen to make epic bracers with tailoring, then disenchant for veiled crystals. To get max enchanting I have to get like 2k deepsea satin.

5040 quest, 364 achievements, 107 mounts, 58 pets, 75 toys, 53 heirlooms, 44 completed leather transmog sets. 15 exalted reputations.

I love things like this! As someone who's currently levelling their own 'challenge character' but in a slightly different spirit, I found this video really informative. My character is locked at 59 and completing all quests/collecting all transmog & achievements from each expansion before moving on. Thank you for the video.

Great video, this definitely brought back memories for me. Your video reminded me of all the weird shit and painful grinds f2p had to do for +2 dps! When I was 11 or so I had no way to pay for a subscription, but was determined to play WoW anyway so I racked up a disgusting amount of time on the free to play mode. I remember stealthing all the way to Stranglethorn and camping Gurubashi Arena for the heirloom, among various other insane tasks. I ended up eventually buying a subscription and playing for many more years, but free to play will always be nostalgic.
I miss playing level 20 FTP twinks. Full gemmed ret pala and also had a boomkin with the epic Foam Spittle Staff from killing murlocs in westfall always hoping the green item would drop and upgrade to epic. This was I think in BFA
i laughed so hard at the grind bar that popped up when you were on the rail on your mount. My favorite video to watch in a long time!
BiS is TRIPLE ROLL WoD Dungeon gear, first epic roll, second socket roll, third leech (BiS but avoidance and speed can roll too) its disgustingly rare, I have an absolute shameful amount of hours on my 10 Monk twink, and I have 2 peices triple rolled w/ leech or speed.
Also have a set of socketed speed gear, you run extremely fast and can roll a dungeon in sub 4 minutes lol. I had to put it down because the high and chase for those triples consumed my life. Any-hoo, back to WoW Classic Hardcore consuming my life now 😂
Can you go thru classic wow journey to make a level 19 or 29 twink or 25 on SOD?
I don't really dabble in classic much, besides it needs a sub to play which I'm currently short 1 of.

Hello, I twink. With the gravity well toy and the goblin glider you can almost fly. I use it to get to certain dungeons for gear.
I mean I'll be honest I did this years ago when the free to play model was first introduced, but it's wonderful seeing other players take part in the same fun. I used a hunter for my experience and it was pretty good.
Got an I-lvl 75 level 20 SV hunter and those dungeon bosses never stood a chance. Having a pet for tanking that's easy to heal is really great and I got lucky with a weapon on I-lvl 87. I haven't yet found a dungeon I couldn't solo. Even Stratholme is fairly easy although I gotta dismiss my pet for the boss that's using a mind control but at where I'm at, I out-gear that boss, luckily. I wanted to try the sword from the Strat final boss but it's not on the loot table for me.
Btw., I'm also farming WoD mission table for those 5 gold each gear tokens you can keep in your bank for when you need gold again. The mission table doesn't provide nearly as much gold as back in WoD, but it's still worth while and I like these passive mechanics. And I wanna buy the mog mount next time I buy game time.
Also, I think we could reach the mechanar in TBC with the darkmoon cannon toy via those pipe-things, but haven't tried, yet.
interestingly, I also found the TBC-socket-gear and WF-gear combination to be my favorite. Thanks for confirming that to me by siming (at least for you paladin).
Also, when all this is done and I got gear I'm really happy with... I'm really looking forward to doing old quest content like I originally intended to :D

My favourite time to twink was late legion doing speed sets, you could run insanely fast permanently, it always threw people if you hopped into any content running at that speed

i mean, i like the tavern and the reservists/torch bearer sections, and it was cool having molten core be hidden underneath it all, but everything else is confusingly laid out, and drags for longer than it deserves to.
It's not AS bad now that there's a map, but the map we did get isn't incredibly helpful since its so segmented.
with your newfound knowledge how long would it take to create a twink like this? ie if i wanted to make a hunter level 20
everything leading up to getting enchants shouldn't take all too long at all, It's really the enchanting that sucks all the time away, especially if you know from the start what to aim for, and go for Warforged gear instead of wasting as much time as I did in TBC

I know that I am a little late to the party but you absolutely can solo strathholm. It does take a long time but it is very possible because there are no insta-kill macanics. I ran the dugeon on a lvl20 to make sure and I could did it without dieing. Great video otherwise!
Meanwhile, you can play FF14 for free without any restriction up until lvl70 giving you few hundreds of hours of actually good content :3

i did this like 10 times back in the day in Vanilla-BC I was in hischool I didn't have anyway to pay for my membership so I would make new trial accounts over and over... back then you only got 10 days to play too so once you hit the 10 you had to make a new ACC or get a membership you could type in channel and public though but no PSTS or trades or mail/auction house.
the amount of time you used on this you could just have paid for 1 subscription and then farmed materials and sold for gold to then use the gold to buy the game time for the rest of your play time...
How is this a lot better than the latest paid version? You can combine lot of expansions into your gameplay when your trial as i can see wow…
Retail version is only last expansion content.

yeah warriors have always had the roughest time with soloing. They just fundamentally have very little in the way of panic utility or self healing

You can reach TBC dungeons in the sky via darkmoon cannon toy. Done it on my hunter years ago while farming twink gear.
I actually have that on my main, but since it doesn't count as a toybox item (why blizz...) I couldn't use it on my trial and didn't wanna bother farming a limited time event item for the possibility of a trinket that might not even be any good.
I mean, to show I'm not just tooting my own horn, I actually forgot about the cannon when I made the video, but there were other darkmoon faire items I willingly opted out of for that reason, so I'm not a TOTAL fraud!

I do this all the time when I get bored of the endgame. My level 20 twink, a windwalker monk, can solo every dungeon I have access to, and is fully decked in ilvl 87 versa/mastery gear.

Going through the enchants lately, It seems one of the patches between when this video was made and now changed the rules for item levels required to apply enchants to gear.
So the section of this video talking about the best enchants MAY be out of date, and I'd encourage you to do your own experimentation if you're looking to do this yourself

Awesome video had a similar journey make 29 xpoff characters for my original heirlooms which were just sitting in the bank and locking each in a different chromie time. Played for change of pace but became a wow lite super fun I even made bags for expansion specific. I love your video awesome

Dude i did this back in 2008 when my account got bugged rolling from the tbc > wotlk upgrade, it became a wotlk account but couldnt download the wotlk files for whatever reason at the time. Left my in a 3 month limbo of trial account spamming.. Back when they were 10 days each haha, 10 hotmail accounts later I finally got my main account back working haha. This just gave me the ultimate nostalgia trip, love the vid man! The things I used to do just to play with my friends ay, WoW was social media before social media lol

I thought you will eventually switch to prot paladin, when farming for the rune blade, because Rammstein is sooo mich easier as a prot paladin.

Damn. I stopped playing WoW in 2010, a few weeks into Cataclysm. I think this kind of insane grinding would break me these days.
And i was the second player on our server "Cult of the damned" who got the fast purple protodrake, after 2 years of grinding the seasonal events. Would have been the first but because of rng i missed one item from the christmas event and i had to wait another full year for the event to come back. I think it was one of the random mask drops. And there still was just one person before me because it was such a grindfest. I cant even imagine doing this today. And when Cataclysm dropped the purple drake was obsolete because of the new faster flying skill. They should have upgraded the purple protodrake accordingly. I mean you had to grind for at least a full year for that thing. And for that you got the fastest mount in the game. Until Cataclysm.
This guy sure went out of his way to get his money's worth out of a free game.
