Unlike other boxers,Inoue does not aim for a decision, but fights for KO.
Naturally, he enters his opponent's territory,
so there is a risk of being hit by a bullet. But
Inoue was not hit by a bullet except for the first
    round down .
Other boxers would be hit by many bullets if they
aim for KO in every match.
People who watch fighters who always outbox
each other may not understand this.
Inoue has said before: "If I want to win by decision,
I can win without getting punched.
But the fans don't want to see that,so I'm going
to take the risk and go for KO."
This is the mentality of a special fighter.

Nery is not some no-name, guys. He is someone “big”. From Wikipedia:
“Luis Esteban Nery Hernández (born December 12, 1994) is a Mexican professional boxer. He is a two-weight world champion, having held the WBC and Ring magazine bantamweight titles between 2017 and 2018, and the WBC super bantamweight title from 2020 to May 2021. As of April 2024, Nery is ranked as the world's third best super bantamweight by BoxRec,[1] TBRB,[2] ESPN,[3] and fifth best by The Ring.[4]”

Luis Nery was not a nobody. He was a two-weight world champion, was 35-1, and ranked by ESPN as #3 at super bantamweight/ 122 pounds going into this fight. This was Naoya Inoue's third fight at 122. His first was against Stephen Fulton where Inoue collected the WBC and WBO super bantamweight belts from Fulton. His second fight at 122 was against Marlon Tapales, where Inoue gained the WBA, IBF, and Ring championship belts.
Some background info, Nery was banned for life to box in Japan. In 2017 he beat Japanese Boxer Shinsuke Yamanaka at 118 pounds, but his drug test came back positive for a banned substance. In 2018, they had a rematch. Nery won again, but he was 5 pounds overweight at the official weigh-in. So the Japan Boxing Commission banned him for life from boxing in Japan, however, they decided to lift the ban to allow him to fight Inoue. I'm guessing they prayed for revenge, and they got it, though, that first round knockdown of Inoue probably gave them heart attacks.

Nah it’s all love mookie bro! By 20lbs I meant their walk around weights, inoue has filled into his body nearly as much as possibly and and he’s 30-31 right now, David made his intentions clear of going to 140 since he’s getting too big for 135. Tank started at 130 whereas inoue started at 106. Inoue is a generational talent no doubt, he’s building out a beautiful legacy for himself but I do believe it would be a mistake to go up 2-3 weight classes at this point in his career but an opinion is an opinion! Much love for the reactions. If you guys get the chance to learn the bad bloods between Nery and Japan, it's another good react content for the build up for Inoue vs Nery. If someone were to tell you that there is an active fighter currently that has scored more 10-8 rounds than 9-10 rounds during their career up to this point, most people would think that is absurd. That is Naoya Inoue. While he may not be getting more popular talents into his resume, he has been able to make it up by keeping relevancy and even scored highly in many people's p4p ranking for years due to his activity and sheer domination. After his Fulton fight, I actually sympathized a lot with the idea of Inoue going up to the 135 division and fighting the more popular talents up there. But after seeing how tall of an order that is, I can understand why Inoue would rather stay and campaign the rest of his career at 122 - 130. During Inoue's fight against Fulton and Tapales, he rehydrated in both fight night as 132lbs and 135lbs. This is very telling about Inoue's body frame as he said in the past that his walkaround weight is 135lbs. While the fighters at the 135 division are able to rehydrate anywhere between 140-150lbs, so you can see the huge weight discrepancy had Inoue just straight up jump from 122 to the 135 division. I'm not saying it's impossible for Inoue to win fights at 135 or even 135+, but you can start to see how insane it would be for Inoue to not only fight at 135lbs, but to also compete against the likes of Tank Davis and Shakur Stevenson while hoping he retains his speed and power at those weight classes. Inoue has stated in the past that at the age of 35 is where he MAY stop boxing, but if he feels like he can keep going then we may see him going towards 130 to possible, I hope at most, 140.

Beautiful. Now that the monster has been knocked down....a deeper country has been revealed to him. He's been tested. And he answered the test with flying colours. Great for his ego, the necessary physical and emotional adjustments for he knows he's getting older and so very many answers that don't need to wait for the next bout to address.

What they mean by 20 pounds is that there’s a difference in frame. Tank started his career at 125 while Inoue started at 108. Fast forward 10 years where their body is now done growing and they’re just filling in what their body naturally is, tank has fought at 140 with no problem while Inoue is JUST NOW reaching 122. If Inoue was not 31 years old and he was still growing, we could be hopeful that he could still grow into 135. But it’s not realistic. Tank is just naturally too big for him. Inoue could get heavier of course he’d just be a “bloated up” 122 pounder cause his frame won’t change.

Tank started at 135# and the Monster started at 108#. The weight difference between the 2 fighters when each started out as pros is 27#. I think that is what one of your commenters were making a reference to.
I hope Inoue is going to retire with his final fight being against Tank. That in my mind would be epic. In the meantime, Inoue is going to work his way through Feather and Super Feather weight before landing in the Lightweight division in 2027/2028.
Both fighters are well versed in boxing and the real difference between the 2: Inoue is a volume puncher and Tank is an economical puncher.

He is already a 2 division champ, I believe for him to get the biggest fights is to MOVE to the US and fight in the US.he could still represent Japan. Jimmy Lennon Jr pronounces his last name the best EeeNoAaa. But about the big money fights he'll move up in weigh but more as be gets older naturally

It’s not that he has to gain weight. Dude walks at 140 lol so he can fight at 135 if he really wants to. But the problem is, the guys that fight at 135 walks at around 160 lol. So come fight night, inoue would only gain back at 140 while the other guy would probably be 155-160 like Haney and Garcia lol. If Inoue fights Tank there would have to be a rehydration clause so Tank can’t gain more than 140. Then It would be a fair fight cause tank did the same to Ryan. Don’t think this fight will ever happen tho cus Inoue already said 126 would be his limit plus Tank has moved up to 140 already and he’s getting old don’t think he can drop back down to Inoues weight

  • @WhiteLight249

Tank is number # 1 to me… if Tank and inoue is at the same weight and fight, i know Tank can take more blow than Inoue.

I like Tank but he dont even fight guys with belts in his own division to unify. He is not going for Legacy he is going for payday which is unfortunate. He is not risking his (0) loss unless its 100M payday.

When smaller guys weigh in their body fat percentage is around 4% so people want Inoue to pack on 10 pounds of muscle just like that 🤣🤣 you go and pack on 10 pounds of muscle not fat muscle see how long it takes. He said last fight he has trouble rehydrating to his target goal, he ain't putting on no 10 pounds

Inoue would have to take out Shakuar first to make a statement. Fulton was ok. The most realistic fight that happens next is Shakuar and Haney @135. It would be good too if Garcia and Teo get to the weight class. And then the ultimate test would be Tank! Imagine clearing those names at 135. It’s a money fight for everyone. If they really wanted they can all make weight to 135.

@@ahmedelmi8512 He will make it. I was 103lbs 16-18 years of age. At 20-28 115lbs-125lbs and 29-40s 125lbs-160lbs. I prefer to be 138-140 it’s where I perform at my best and more balance. He will be trading his speed for power. If he goes above 135 lbs that I don’t think he will make it. Too much weight on his frame.

Those guys are weightbully. Monster can fight 135 no problem but get KO if thats what you want to see an unfare advantage.
