Paddling the Jacks Fork River in MO (Buck Hollow to Junction Ferry)

- On May 10th, my fiance, Kenzie, and I, paddled 38 miles down the Jacks Fork River from Buck Hollow to its confluence with the Current River at Junction Ferry. Throughout our journey we explored many natural springs, caves, and dolomite bluffs. We also witnessed countless quantities (well kenzie actually did try to count them) of wildlife ranging from Bald Eagles to River Otters and hundreds of Turtles. I was truly amazed by how stunning this landscape/river was and cannot believe how few people know about its existence. This video represents my best attempts to encapsulate the serenity we experienced whilst paddling downriver.
*Note: Two Rivers is the name of the campground at the confluence of the Current River and Jacks Fork. Not Junction Ferry as I mentioned incorrectly in the video.

Such a beautiful stretch of river. I've only got to do it once
Well done, Sir...enjoyed! Stay Safe!
Absolutely stunning, has to be the best one yet!
Junction ferry... Oh, you mean Two Rivers! What a fabulous stretch of river. I love the wildlife on Jacks Fork, although the bluffs at Buck Hollow are pretty great.
God I miss this stuff. Used to do Jacks Fork, Black River, or Current river, one or more of 'em, every summer.
I’ve never done the black river… is it in Mo? Would you recommend it? The current and jacks fork truly are little pieces of paradise
@@palmerbowles1631 I like it, it's generally middling difficulty other than a few spots, which have likely changed since I was last there.
I only did Jack's as a kid, did Current a LOT and Black River a good number of times. Haven't been since the Shut-Ins got damaged or whatever.
Im glad this was a recomended video. Thats some beautiful scenery!!
Aw thanks! I appreciate that. The landscape speaks for itself :)
Fun
Video! Happy Floating.
Hey you two! I had a friend send me a link to this video. I had no idea you were making such neat videos. Well done! (I miss you both!) 🙂
We miss you too, Dave! Thanks for the compliment… it’s something fun to do in my free time I guess :)
Enjoyed the video thanks for sharing! Appreciate your work.
Thank you!!
Gotta do jam up cave when you are up on that stretch of river.
Nice trip 😊
6:11 I presume that was for a Samsqwench. Did yall have any luck?
Haha, no luck unfortunately
According to my Missouri DNR friend the Jacks Fork has one of the highest concentrations of cottonmouths in the southern part of the state. Beautiful area with many awesome rivers - the Current, the Eleven Point being two others. I have enjoyed all of them over the years
Oh yikes… I did not realize the concentration of cottonmouths was so high 😬 it is a beautiful corner of the country though. I’m looking forward to paddling some more rivers there soon!
@@palmerbowles1631 they generally don’t bother you. The worst part imo is nightime, watch where you put your feet.😂
That stretch of river is where I saw my first and only rattlesnake in the wild.
Beautiful piece of filmmaking.
Thank you! I definitely gave it my best :)
Fantástico
Subbed! That river looks amazing!
Thank you! The river is truly a hidden gem! You should definitely check it out :)
Cool trip ❤
Thanks Josh!
Nice video, I live just a mile south of Jam Up Cave.
Oh wow! That's got to be a beautiful area to live in
Great video
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Also, when you are guys tying the knot??? I didn't realize you two were engaged!
Haha yes! Mid May this year!
The River definitely has a potential to be dangerous from flooding without much warning
That definitely makes sense… Seems like the area has a high runoff rate
Is the water cold?
It's definitely one of the colder rivers in the midwest since it runs off so many underground springs but all in all not too bad. If you're good with cold water the main river is definitely swimmable but it was too cold for me to want to swim though we did have cloudy weather. The springs themselves are definitely too cold for swimming :)
ty for the reply!
Jack's Fork runs into the Current at Two Rivers.
Aw yes, my bad. Not sure why I thought it was called Junction Ferry. Thanks for the heads up - I added a note to the description in case anyone is mislead.
Any Bigfoot problems?
Not that I can recall haha. Have there been reports of big foot problems in the area?
@@palmerbowles1631 I haven't been seeing them Since I quit drinking 😅
