My Giro FF saved my teeth at Oletta few years ago when I hit a stump going down and flipped over bars face first. Don’t really care what other people think or say I’m riding FF all the time. Great vid.
I fell on my face once and that's all it took to realize that it's worth having! Fell on my face again with one on and felt so much better than the last and was able to laugh it off!
Currently riding a Parachute, it is a winner: by far the most comfortable and breathable full face I've ever ridden. Even compared to Fox Proframe which feels far more warm and less breathable but feels excellent compared to other DH lids. (I was deciding between these two a month ago). The most recent Bell equivalent isn't bad either, but removable chinbars are overrated: You don't need to remove the chinbar on the Parachute because it's so breathable in the first place.
You know it's funny how peole always have to have an opinion on what other people use but even though they've never tried one or maybe even crashed into some with their grill first have no clue what could happen. I was never able to wear a fullface helmet on my dirtbike because I couldnt breathe well but after smashing my face into the cross bar (yes I had a pad on it too) that I couldn't eat much for a while i learned to love them. Now I dont have one for mtn biking but that is what I am thinking about doing soon. Good review man I subscribed because of it. Thx for posting!!
Spot on man! In the end, wear what ever fit your comfort to risk ratio and let other wear what ever they want. Unfortunately, if you're in the US this one has become rather hard to come across, while it has all the proper Euro certification it isn't CPSC certified which means a lot of retailers have stopped carrying them, liability issues I guess. And thanks for the support with the channel, much appreciated.
BlindstuffMTB no problem man I like yoyr approach on things its a lot like mine. As mybkids would say "That's kind of scary..." I noticed this helmet wasn't available like you said but it seems that their other helmets are. Just thought that was odd. Lol
Hi from England, great videos man, just ordered one of these, looks more suitable to the trails I'm riding compared to the Fox Proframe I have which I think is a bit over the top for general trail riding. Bonus for me in finding your reviews on this helmet is that your other videos look great too, right, I'm off to watch some more of your vids. Keep up the good work, you got another sub here!
Glad to hear you've found the video useful and enjoyed the rest of the content, the support on the channel is much appreciated! I've never fully ridden with the Proframe but I've tried it on in stores, I think I agree with your assessment, the Proframe feels like a step up toward a full DH helmet.
8 years have passed and I think this one is still a one way road if you pedal up as well as downhill. A great enduro helmet. Light, airy, comfortable and protective. What is there not to like? Well, its the looks you get from other cyclists, wearing openfaces when you wear it going uphill. But I dont care, it rocks my boat so there. And I get to keep my teeth if I fall on the rocks.
I bought the same helmet a few weeks ago based on your recommendation. I had tried out the Bell Super 3R but found the ratchet fit system on it to be very flimsy. I returned one and got another one and had the same issue so I went with the Parachute. There certainly is no comparison in terms of comfort vs. an open face but after falling on my chin a couple of times I decided to go full face too. I only ride open face at Amelia which is all easy or slightly intermediate IMHO. Markham, VK and Oleta, I go with the Parachute. VERY well ventilated for a full face and I definitely feel more confident. My only complaints are the D buckles (wish it was just a snap in buckle) and my overbrow vision is a little impaired with the helmet coming down a little too low on my forehead. Neither of those are a big deal and the added protection is well worth it. The ratchet system on it isn't as strong as I would like it to be either (my open face is a Cannondale with a bulletproof ratchet system that doesn't stop tightening until it strangles my head) and the ratchet system isn't padded like my Cannondale helmet but again, not that big a deal. Though for the price they should pad it. Overall very comfortable, well ventilated and I forget it's a full face once I'm locked in on a trail. That's the best you could hope for for a helmet like this.
Glad to hear you're happy with the purchase; as you can probably tell I don't really make many videos or comments endorsing products as I think its kinda of a big responsibility. I agree on the padding, more DH oriented helmets have more padding, but I also think that makes them warmer, bare bones design kinda helps the weight and airflow. I still think its a matter of evaluating trade-offs; a full-face for trail riding isn't for everyone, but for some people the trade-off just makes sense. I also noticed the overbrow vision, but it ended up being a good thing as it helped me look further up and in consequence further down the trail.
I meant padding in the area opposite of where you turn the wheel to tighten the fit on the back. It's kind of sharp plastic and it scrapes my scalp a little when I put it on (I have a shaved head). The padding on the interior of the helmet is just fine, it's that plastic piece where you tighten it. My Cannondale helmet has soft rubber padding there so slips on easy and cushions my scalp when I tighten it down. No big deal. Love the helmet and love that it's kind of rare around here too.
Lasted for 3 years. Double D clipping is now tarnished for no reason especially it was chrome-plated. Gel linning fell apart, glued twice. The worst part is the internal stripes. Soft, internal material is covered by external "sweat-proof" plastic cover. It was very soft at the very beginning, but over time it cracked in many places and have sharp edges. Not to comfy to put it on and ride. Probably will buy some other brand if I still will be riding.
I have that helmet as well, but in a different color configuration. Oddly enough I've used it only once when riding my atv at a park that requires helmets...probably not the smartest idea since it's not DOT certified. I did notice how comfortable it is to wear since it is super light, and does breath so well.
Great review, I think this is the one I'll go for. I wish I was wearing this two weeks ago when I face planted on some tree roots from height and spent the evening in A&E having head and neck CT scans (luckily only a broken nose) and having my right eyebrow/forehead stitched back together. I suspect I'll get some comments for using a full face for trail riding,, I'll just have to show them my scars. Thanks for posting.
Sorry to hear you took a tumble, but its good that the only damage was a nose and stitches, I took a pretty big one when I used to race motorcycles and remember the stress of going through all the stuff you're mentioning not knowing if I had messed myself up or not. Worry not about what others tell you about the helmet, I used to get a lot of odd comments, interestingly nowadays I usually get more "what helmet is that" than anything else. Glad you found the video useful!
Very handy review. I currently ride with a Bluegrass Goldeneyes & I've been looking for a full face lid. The Goldeneyes & the Parachute appear to be the same helmet plus the chin guard so that's great. The Goldeneyes is the first helmet I've had that doesn't give me killer brain ache.
They are the same company indeed. Only difference I could notice between both helmets, chinbar aside, is the retaining mechanism for the helmet is held in place differently
Thanks Ryan, the switchblades seems like a really cool helmet as well, I like the fact that it kinda looks like a trial helmet without the chinbar installed.
yeah man! I did subscribed at your channel coz you are delivering great content. Very nice YT bike you have. Switchblade and Chronicle are my only helmet and so far they pretty work well.
It's cool to see a full face helmet that accommodates both googles and shades. I prefer to wear shades on the way up and googles on the way down. Cool video! 🤘
Thanks Shawn, the Parachute is a great helmet, I've been very happy with it for a long time now; they have unfortunately become harder to find in the US now. I wore goggles on my CO DH trip and they felt great, that flexibility your mentioning is great to me as for my everyday rides I just wear shades.
nice review, i got one to and i like to add that you can remove the chin guard, it's just 4 ellen screws, the straps reconnect back with two of the screws, BUT!! it's not design to work like that and the warranty will not hold if you crash like that. but I do agree with you that if you want one with a removable chin guard then buy the Bell Super
+Itzik Jani thanks! You're correct about that, however, the holding mechanism for the buckle doesn't hold on all that well without the bar inserts, I would personally not wear it without the bar, it looks like a normal helmet would be safer. I took my old parachute apart to see if it was usable like a "bluegrass golden eyes" but the fastening mechanism is completely different
After smashing my mouth into a fallen tree trunk hidden in the shrubs I'm seriously considering this or the NEW Troy Lee Designs STAGE helmet. Having to drink everything though a straw suck's literally..get it ..big time . Great review
Its super tough! Hope you're feeling better. This helmet has since become super hard to find in the US unfortunately, there are rumors that MET is coming back early next year, but nothing confirmed. I'm still using this one and the Bell super DH depending on the situation.
I'm not gonna lie, I totally thought you were single and that Angel and Ricardo were maybe your roommates and that you basically spent every weekend roadtripping it with them to crazy awesome places. I gotta figure out how to travel more for this sport. My wife loves to travel, but she also loves to do things she wants to when we do travel...so we go to places like, I dunno, not mountain biking destinations. Maybe I can get that to change... You're awesome man, keep it up. Sorry I'm flooding you with comments.
Hahaha that would be an awesome setup, but not the case. We usually find ways to travel with significant others on some trips and solo on other trips. I also take my bike on a lot of family trips and scour through trailforks just to get one day of riding in. Its doable, but no doubt an effort.
great video, I personally have different helmets for different types of riding. But it's always good to do you and let the haters hate. Remember it's your head, again great video topic!! Live-Life-Loud!!
Great review! New to this channel. I've been looking for a full face helmet that is light and breathable. I'm looking at the Super 3R but this helmet seems to be better. Would you happen to know a U.S dealer that sells this helmet? Enjoying your channel so far. Thanks!

I wear this helmet while riding from the city to the trail which is about 6 miles of paved road. I personally don't mind it, but I do get a bunch of weird looks hahaha. Don't understand what someone may have to say negatively about someone else's helmet choice unless it's to say they're using something not safe.
I wear the POC VPD Air, really comfortable soft pad, I think its a very good balance between pedaling ability and protection for the kind of riding we have here. I'll do a review on them once I get to about 6 months using them. Most of the negative comments come from people who don't agree with a full-face for our kind of riding, which is completely OK, but I've always found funny that it doesn't affect them at all and they still feel the need to opine. Mostly stuff like its pointless to ride with a full face, or its too hot, or it looks stupid, etc.
Thanks Noah! Definitely a personal choice, some people just hate and others, like me, feel they're a must. If you're thinking about it, try to borrow one of a buddy, but be warned, if you try a DH helmet and pedal, you will hate it hahaha, helmets like the Met Parachute and Super 3R are significantly more breathable.
I have the Pro Frame. it is bulkier, but still very light, and the ventilation is superb. Zero "hot breath" problems when pedalling uphill. Highly recommended.
lol thanks man! Yes for NC, haven't done any plans for SC. I was supposed to be there a couple of weeks ago but plans fell through last minute, I expect to make it to Asheville in early July.
BlindstuffMTB Asheville is definitely worth the trip! I rode pisgah and DuPont last year in May and it was amazing! Went with three of my buddies and we had a hell of a time! We stayed in a cabin for almost a week and then extended the trip over to pigeon forge! Such a beautiful area. One of these days we'll have to get together and hit the trails. I rode two laps at pinehurst this morning
Yeah, having teeth is nice lol! I used to get a lot more weird looks, I'd say nowadays we see a lot more people wearing full-face helmets around here. In the end, figure out what you want to wear and go for it, I would say, if you are going with a full-face, make sure to get one with proper ventilation. I've worn the Bell Transfer 9 for example and the heat gets insane while pedaling.
Ha! From Miami also and shopping around for a full face helmet also. Been lucky with my face so far after 10 years of Oleta, VK and the occasional Markham run. Great review Blindstuff!
My Giro FF saved my teeth at Oletta few years ago when I hit a stump going down and flipped over bars face first. Don’t really care what other people think or say I’m riding FF all the time. Great vid.

We've all been there at one point or another.
I think when you ride high speed in the woods between trees rocks and other stuffs you need a fullface.
Currently riding a Parachute, it is a winner: by far the most comfortable and breathable full face I've ever ridden. Even compared to Fox Proframe which feels far more warm and less breathable but feels excellent compared to other DH lids. (I was deciding between these two a month ago).

BlindstuffMTB
Same company I believe. The helmets have the same rear adjustment mechanism, same googles clip & certainly the 2/3rds of the same vents.
They are the same company indeed. Only difference I could notice between both helmets, chinbar aside, is the retaining mechanism for the helmet is held in place differently
BlindstuffMTB cheers mate. Sticking one of those on my Xmas list 😂
Very nice review man, I ride the Giro Switchblade and yeah most of the time I ride with the chin bar on unless its really hot in California.
Thanks Ryan, the switchblades seems like a really cool helmet as well, I like the fact that it kinda looks like a trial helmet without the chinbar installed.

You have to unfasten the DD rings to put the helmet on or take it off.
What's the ideal size to go for if You're inbetween sizes. I have 55cm cirm and I'm not sure if I'll pick Small or Medium. Very nice review indeed.
Hey Manuel, I've unfortunately never done any size testing, I'd love to help, but I'd rather tell you I don't know before giving you bad advice.
Well appreciated your honest reply Mate. Trying to find a local shop for trial fit, hopefully I'll find one nearby. Thanks very much.

nice one! really considering this one for my next helmet. :)
Thanks! You'll thoroughly enjoy it if you do get it.
I have been thinking about a full face helmet for road biking because when you fall you inevitably hit your chin or face not so much your head.
great video, I personally have different helmets for different types of riding. But it's always good to do you and let the haters hate. Remember it's your head, again great video topic!! Live-Life-Loud!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The Super 3R it is!
What kind of cam setup do you have where it constantly doesnt point to the trail?
This was a chesty + gimbal + hero 4. Nowadays I'm mostly running a Hero 8 on my helmet chinbar.
Would it be weird to wear this while on the road or paved trails? I literally am just getting started in biking and know almost nothing..
I wear this helmet while riding from the city to the trail which is about 6 miles of paved road. I personally don't mind it, but I do get a bunch of weird looks hahaha. You should be getting a helmet that makes YOU comfortable, doesn't really matter much what others think.

Taylor Albaugh Chain Reaction has them
Gotta wear what makes you safe, F the haters
Hey man good review, also where is that trail?
Thanks Jose. Virginia Key in Miami. In this video there's sections from Long and Winding road, Tom Sawyer & Highway to Hell.
Hi Sir! How about between MET MCR vs Leatte DBX 3.0? pls help. Thank u! God bless!
Hey Jonathan, I'm sorry but I have no experience with those helmets. I cant help you unfortunately
On a slightly related topic, I see you wear knee pads. What kind? I ordered some IXS Flow pads but had to return them as the Large were too tight and re-ordered them in XL. I have a feeling they won't fit right either. I'm also kinda curious as to what negative comments you've gotten on riding with a full face? Don't understand what someone may have to say negatively about someone else's helmet choice unless it's to say they're using something not safe.
I wear the POC VPD Air, really comfortable soft pad, I think its a very good balance between pedaling ability and protection for the kind of riding we have here. I'll do a review on them once I get to about 6 months using them.
Most of the negative comments come from people who don't agree with a full-face for our kind of riding, which is completely OK, but I've always found funny that it doesn't affect them at all and they still feel the need to opine. Great video made me want a full face helmet.
Have you used the fox proframe yet?
I have not, I've worn one and it feels like a bulkier helmet than the MET (different concept), but I've never fully ridden with it.
I have the Pro Frame. it is bulkier, but still very light, and the ventilation is superb. Zero "hot breath" problems when pedalling uphill. Highly recommended.
I use my met helmet for xc trail riding I love it more then my reg xc helmet.
I keep hearing nothing but great comments from everyone about this helmet. MET really did a great job.
What glasses/goggles do you wear with this helmet?
Ekuso Haven I wear oakley flak 2.0 glasses for XC and some wherever oakley goggles for park.
Link to order please.
👍 📹
What ever makes you feel good
is probably the best thing for you 😄.
love your videos
"What ever makes you feel good" Exactly!
Thanks Yaron!
Good job 👍
Thanks!
I like your video 👍👍
well im a real person an i enjoyed it... LOL any plans for the Carolina's?
lol thanks man!
Can you remove the visor or is this not possible ?
I'm from Miami as well and I want to get one, people tell me I'm crazy lol and I'm like listen I don't want to loose any teeth! lol
Thanks Diego. Glad you found it useful!
Я тоже купил такой, после падения на лицо. Защитить надо лицо. Я по городу езжу
can't stand motorcross style buckle thank god they are becoming a thing of the past.
You get used to them, but the new Parachute doesn't have one. They updated it.
