  • During a holiday in Sussex, I had been keeping an eye on the Spa Valley Railway, it not being a line I had previously visited. Diesel traction was initially advertised so I decided not to go but a last-minute change saw Caledonian Railway 812 class 828 back in service after repairs. In the end, I'm very glad I went as I had a great day, the line is nice and the volunteers were all extremely friendly. Plus, it was the first time I'd seen 828.
The video starts at Groombridge as BR Class 25 D7535 departs for Eridge. Moving to the footbridge immediately west of the station, we see 828 approaching the station, a sudden heavy shower having just passed. I then travelled behind D7535 to Tunbridge Wells West, the driver obviously not wanting to hang around! Finally, I captured 828's last uphill run to Tunbridge of the day.
