Depending on the age of the kids they may like more of a high speed brasher. If they found a stock TRX-4 boring consider going with a brushless motor in one - much faster and the drive train is pretty stout to handle it. The bone of the driveshaft rubs on the diff outdrive cup? I took a glance at our buggy but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Have you tried contacting Losi about this and letting them know? -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Brett, it's all over YT and Instagram... Including my own Lasernut. That stock shaft just can't handle the bigger tires. Techno works, but takes some modification to make it fit.
Looks cool aside from the rear tire that sticks way out past the body 🤔 I like that it's 4s and independent suspension. Still like my Rock Rey though and this looks like it is similar size 👍
People keep breaking the drive shafts. I barely ran 3 packs before my first breakage. the drive shaft grinding against the wheel hub when turning might be the culprit, but also why are people breaking the rear? Been definitely babying this truck as it breaks often :(
Can you put on regular 2.2 tires and say vanquish wheels or do you need 3.0 tires/rims on the inside for clearance? I am not a fan of 2.2/3.0 stuff because of tire availability. Looks like a super fun vehicle though. How is the durability for you guys running it out there? There are no carpet/clay tracks by me so the U4RC stuff is right up my alley...just put out and make an improvised track in nature!
This is what i want. Is there a tougher one thou? preferably on amazon or something? Or will this do. just want to do some off road and on road stuff at the park. This thing looks like a beast. But those parts did fall off.
Mine runs hot on the standard 12t pinion (90C) and even hotter with the 14t pinion (110C+). I'm using spektrum's smart 3s 5000mah 50c and 100c lipos. Why got the esc thermal detection when only the motor get's hot? :C Car must be in flames when using 4s.
Wow, 110C is way too hot! Are you sure there is no binding in the drivetrain anywhere that might add friction to the system? The thermal protection will activate, even for only the motor, because at 110C the motor magnets will experience permanent, irreversible damage. -Brett
I’m thinking about purchasing this buggy soon, do you think I could swap out the stock system and put in a castle ESC and 3800kv SCT brushless motor system only because I’ve noticed one of my RC buddy is always trying to race me and I hate losing?
Man I really want to do a kit, but these RTR are so damn cool and hundreds less. I just put together a rock crawler build and the damn thing is 800 bucks.
Have you compared the Losi Lasernut Tenacity against the Traxxas E-Revo VXL Brushless, or have any thoughts on a comparison RTR RC to the E-Revo? I have the E-Revo, and I'm looking for something that is comparable or slightly better than it.
If you already have the E-Revo 2.0, it's tough to find a comparable vehicle to that go-anywhere brute performance. The Lasernut is great, but it's 4S, smaller, lighter, less powerful, and probably less capable than the wide and low stance of the E-Revo. I like the Lasernut too, but I'm not sure if it's going to live up to your expectations. -Brett
Hi Brett, I have a question about the Lasernut. I'm trying to find some replacement tires for it and I'm not sure what to get or what will fit. Stock tires are in general good but not good on rocks. I was able to fit these on my TRX4 and I couldn't climb anything. Also the stock wheels look great but the hex is very delicate. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Yeah you bet. I believe the Lasernut uses standard 2.2" Rock Crawler tires and wheels, so you can use any within that category, including glue style, or beadlocks. Here are our categories: 2.2" Wheels: www.amainhobbies.com/2.2-wheels-tires-wheels-rock-crawlers/c9918 2.2" Tires: www.amainhobbies.com/2.2-tires-tires-wheels-rock-crawlers/c9926 Something to keep in mind: Most rock crawlers are slow pokin' and thusly, not effected by heavy metal beadlock wheels. Your Lasernut on the other hand is a high performance machine and extra wheel heft will add some strain to your motor, and likely increase motor temps. It may be an issue, or it may not be, but if do go with heavy metal wheels, watch those motor temps. -Brett
Lasernut Update. Hi Brett, here is what I ended up doing with my Lasernut. I replaced all the diff cases and an axle/hub kit with Vitavon. Pricey but it's bullet proof now (no hard bashing ever on this - Typhon for that). With the Castle sct combo 2400kv power is so smooth. I put G8 2.2 tires on it with Proline wheels. Putting 500k fluid in the rear locks it up nicely for low speed traction on New England trails (way different than CA) but still runs good at higher speed. This is still one of my favorite rc's. Thanks for the videos, I've been enjoying them. Thanks for all the great info helping me get going in RC. I'm totally in now with most purchases from AMain. Crazy sales this past Christmas season. Keep up the great work!
Hey Roberto. The Losi Rock Rey is very similar to the Lasernut; take a look: www.amainhobbies.com/losi-rock-rey-1-10-4wd-rtr-electric-rock-racer-blue-los03009t2/p581371 -Brett
They're both great vehicles but it depends on if you want an independent rear suspension, or a solid axle, and which looks the best to you. Both are great options, and I don't think you'll be disappointed with either choice. -Brett
They are breaking so many driveshafts that Losi have run out of warranty replacements (Sept2020) and centre diffs are stripping. They look great but I'll pass for now till Losi gets these sorted.
Hey Brett! Keep up the good work buddy! I have an opinion question for you that I'd really appreciate your input on. I'm looking for one do-it-all, all-around all-terrain basher. I've kind of narrowed my list down to a Lasernut, a 1/10 Maxx, a 1/7 Mojave V2, or a Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0. If you had to have one RC to do it all, what would you choose? I know these aren't all direct or even that close of competitors to each other, but these are the ones that I'm most interested in. I live in the Milwaukee, WI area just fyi. I've been in the hobby on and off for roughly 20 years (just turned 34 today), owned a bunch of stuff mostly Traxxas, such as E-Maxx's, Stampedes, Slash's, but also some Losi and Team Associated stuff. I most recently just sold my 2 trucks, an E-Revo 2.0 and UDR to fund my next RC purchase. That's some background. I considered an X-Maxx as well so maybe add that to the list of possibilities. I really like the new Spektrum smart technology such as transmitter telemetry with battery fuel gauge, and I love stuff with LED lighting kits (such as Lasernut and SBR 2.0, or the Maxx optional kit). I want something that looks awesome, is fun and capable both on and off road, is durable and reliable, and generally gravitate towards models with special features like the aforementioned LED lighting kits, battery telemetry, self- righting, AVC/TSM, etc. That's why I'm pretty much considering Lasernut / Maxx / X-Maxx / SBR 2.0 / Mojave. Just really wondering your opinion, if you had to choose one of those for your only all-around RC, what would it be and why? Thank you so much for reading and for your time in advance, it's much appreciated!
Hey Michael. Those are some great vehicles you're looking at! Personally, I'd probably go with the Mojave or SBR for their size and extra power. And between them, I'd pick the Mojave over the SBR for it's simple and easy to work on chassis. I'm not a fan of working on bottom-loader vehicles like the SBR, SRR or UDR, but that's just my nit-picky bias. Someone else out there probably prefers working on them.. you never know. I hope my two cents have helped. You have a good decision to make, and they're all fun choices! -Brett
Maxx. I have broke 4 front axle shafts before even drawing the first battery. Weak design. Had to upgrade to the Techno shafts to even get a mild run out of it.
Will the Tenacity DB Pro rear wing fit on the Lasernut, If I decide to swap it out for the spare tire? If so can you please send me a link? Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
@@AMain_Hobbies I was checking out the DB Pro, and that wing looked really close to having the same mounts as on the Lasernut! I mean really close... do you know if there's a define difference, or they just don't make one specific to the Lasernut yet?
@@alecsimmons1120 I'm not really sure. The two cars are so similar in design and parts used, you may be able to add the DB Pro mount to the Lasernut and use the wing that way. But i'm not sure 100%. -Brett

I had horrible luck with my laser nut. It came in leds not working, Sway bars were missing hardware in the box, front wheel had fallen off in the box and then on the first run it snap a drive shaft while driving around my front lawn and then on the 2nd charge after swapping out the shafts for tekno shafts i stripped out a rear wheel and then when taking the front wheel off i was able to spin the nut inside the wheel stripping another wheel.. But after about 250 in upgrades as all replacement parts are mostly on back order the car is now amazing... But that was the worst RTR experience of my life...

@@covermchone99 If we can we definitely will!
-Brett
So badass looking and love the scale bfgs
I'm so happy u reviewing the losiiii yipeee
Nice looking Buggy but until Losi improves its spares support they wont be getting my money, I have a Tenacity DB pro which has sat on a shelf for 9 months now awaiting spares but hey why make spares when you can sell new models at 500 bucks, I don't need another paperweight thanks
Andrew Killion same thing but with arrma and. Losi so no more for me me only traxxas they get us parts fast or we go and pick it up I ha ve so many losi and arrmas and traxxas but I agreee with you they don’t
@@r3versekyvak608 Agreed We need to stop buying the latest product until they support the products they already have, customers do not return once they have lost confidence in a brand. My DB pro is a nice looking buggy and currently that is all it is. Perhaps youtube reviewers should mention this when recommending new products such as this?
Andrew Killion my super Baja Rey and a DB pro my traxxas I have all there cars because fast easy spares are available and fast shipping and company S like mip make parts which last forever for traxxas they should because a beginner is gonna get a losi buggy and then they hate the hobby cause it doesn’t come for months I have a order worth 1000 dollars I orders it last year 2019 in September
I have never had problems with parts availability with my arrma trucks
Mojave RC ya not that bad with arrma but traxxas is better it takes over. A month to foke
I'm loving my Lasernut despite some early reliability concerns. It's only my second car and it's waaaaay more capable than my Rustler 4x4 VXL. Fast and stable! Lots of upgrades planned, both big and small.
How’s it holding up
@@brainiacproductions357 Hah. Bad day to ask. Broke another front drive shaft today! I had a rear diff bearing go a while back, that was a mess.
I wouldn’t say bad, really, but it’s an ongoing project. Very tempted by the nice Vitavon upgrades! :)
I’m sure that upgrade will make a big improvement. Glad to hear you that you enjoy it though!
I love it! Very capable in my book!
Definitely the best looking RC car on the market. It can jump too!
I had a Lasernut. I really liked it. I broke a piece from doing a little bashing.
I like how you also included km/hr
Any good for sand. I would be using on the beach. And is it waterproof for saltwater?
PLEASE PLEASE do a unboxing and review of the losi super baja Rey 2.0 and vs them PLEASE
Ran my rtr straight outta the box, like 5 times on very simple terrain and my front dif is shot. PLEASE. Tell me the Tenacity parts are the same and available. Part numbers would be a plus. Not upset, yet. But time will tell. Was Hella impressed up to this point. Thank you for your input.
The diff gears should be the same. The exploded diagram is saying these gears are for the front diff: www.amainhobbies.com/losi-tenacity-differential-gear-set-w-hardware-los232029/p637297?r=0
Hope that helps! Thanks for letting us know.
-Brett
Just noticed that package includes only two small planet gears when the differential requires four. You may need two packages...
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Expecting more problems with this, I ordered 8 replacement packages at $12 a package, well, $11.99 plus tax from a local hobby shop. Being a man of my word and always supporting the locals I paid for them all... even though ALL 4 planet gears were in each package. You informed me and I just informed you. No harm done. Thanks for helping me out and we've all just learned a little more.
DO IT IN THE DIRT! Peace. Lol
@@lazy986 You are correct! Thanks for the tip. We're working on updating our photos. Hopefully you don't have any more issues after this!
-Brett
Didn't need to see another review of the 'nut, but watched for the jokes, and jokes there were :D
Curious if you had any wear on the axles from the axles rubbing on the outdrive cups? I hear that this is an issue. Please comment.
Been definitely babying this truck as it breaks often :(
Its on my list to get!
I'd like to see this list!
-Brett
Hi, how long does the battery last, how many minutes ?
This deserves a Megalodon Blake Wilkey Edition Proline body
Can you put on regular 2.2 tires and say vanquish wheels or do you need 3.0 tires/rims on the inside for clearance? I am not a fan of 2.2/3.0 stuff because of tire availability. Looks like a super fun vehicle though. How is the durability for you guys running it out there? There are no carpet/clay tracks by me so the U4RC stuff is right up my alley...just put out and make an improvised track in nature!
We tried it with some generic 2.2 crawler wheels/tires and there is some slight rubbing but I think it could be doable with a wider hub.
-Brett
Very cool. What is the total vehicle weight, including a typical 3s battery?
Still awaiting Horizon CS to respond on my issues with this car.
Awh man! What issues are you having?
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Same here - Horizon never responded to my email either. Broken dogbone, haven't been able to drive it since the day I got it. 😭🙁👎
This is what i want.
Is there a tougher one thou? preferably on amazon or something?
Or will this do. just want to do some off road and on road stuff at the park.
This thing looks like a beast. But those parts did fall off.
Cool video ! I do not understand why Losi did not include a motor fan or real leds ???
Mine runs hot on the standard 12t pinion (90C) and even hotter with the 14t pinion (110C+). I'm using spektrum's smart 3s 5000mah 50c and 100c lipos. Why got the esc thermal detection when only the motor get's hot? :C Car must be in flames when using 4s.
Wow, 110C is way too hot! Are you sure there is no binding in the drivetrain anywhere that might add friction to the system? The thermal protection will activate, even for only the motor, because at 110C the motor magnets will experience permanent, irreversible damage.
-Brett
Really cool buggy.
Lovely Lazer 🌰...👍😁
Not sure about this but could I put those wheels on my 3s arrma senton???
Its funny how some people review this and say it has a 50 foot turning radius and that it sits to low for the big tires
I’m thinking about purchasing this buggy soon, do you think I could swap out the stock system and put in a castle ESC and 3800kv SCT brushless motor system only because I’ve noticed one of my RC buddy is always trying to race me and I hate losing?
Yes, the electronics are upgradeable but the 4S system included is pretty nice.
-Brett
-Brett
Can you turn the lights off without unplugging the wires?
Hello, if you were to give 2 pros and cons to lasernaut and dbpro while puttig them aginst eachother what would they be?
They're the same car pretty much; the Lasernut features more scale details and is 4S ready; the DB Pro has fewer scale details and is 3S ready.
Here are our categories:
2.2" Wheels: www.amainhobbies.com/2.2-wheels-tires-wheels-rock-crawlers/c9918
2.2" Tires: www.amainhobbies.com/2.2-tires-tires-wheels-rock-crawlers/c9926
Something to keep in mind: Most rock crawlers are slow pokin' and thusly, not effected by heavy metal beadlock wheels. Your Lasernut on the other hand is a high performance machine and extra wheel heft will add some strain to your motor, and likely increase motor temps. It may be an issue, or it may not be, but if do go with heavy metal wheels, watch those motor temps.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Thank you!
Hi Brett 👋 love your videos you are a natural ✨ one question which other losi buggy about the same size as the lasernut could u recommend.
Hey Roberto. The Losi Rock Rey is very similar to the Lasernut; take a look: www.amainhobbies.com/losi-rock-rey-1-10-4wd-rtr-electric-rock-racer-blue-los03009t2/p581371

Hi Brett one question I have the lasernut got a smart battery 3s could I still charge it on the smart charger s1100
@@robertoverdejo6310 Yes, that will work fine. The S1100 can charge up to a 6S LiPo.
-Brett
Thanks Brett you the best 👍 beginners questions 😆 lol
The Tenacity chassis was great when Losi started it but it just keeps getting better.
What would you recommend, the lazernut or rock rey?
They're both great vehicles but it depends on if you want an independent rear suspension, or a solid axle, and which looks the best to you. Both are great options, and I don't think you'll be disappointed with either choice.
-Brett
Super Rock Rey 2.0✔️
It just jumps up!!! I’m dying lol
They are breaking so many driveshafts that Losi have run out of warranty replacements (Sept2020) and centre diffs are stripping.
They look great but I'll pass for now till Losi gets these sorted.
Stripped a rear diff and centre diff TWICE on mine in about 4 hours of running
Cool buggy. Hope its better than the rock rey, which always is breaking.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Thanks so much Brett! Definitely helps!
What Winch ? Broke the same part for the bumper support
What is the part number? I dont see a full break down parts list ?
There is a fake plastic winch that sits on the front for looks. For that support piece, the one we broke is included in parts bag LOS231054.

Thank you for the quick reply
Brett I should of placed my comment What Winch? LOL Thank you for the Part number I Appreciate it very much .
I have this, bought it Monday night fairly new. Broke the steering linkage. Can this do donuts in dirt?
Oh no! That should be an easy fix though. For donuts, i'm not sure. I imagine it would but we didn't try that.
-Brett
nice i want one
1000 $ for you.
What do you recommend, the Traxxas MAXX or the Losi Lasernut?
No, there is no wing mount. You could fabricate something to work though.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies I was checking out the DB Pro, and that wing looked really close to having the same mounts as on the Lasernut! I mean really close... do you know if there's a define difference, or they just don't make one specific to the Lasernut yet?
@@alecsimmons1120 I'm not really sure. The two cars are so similar in design and parts used, you may be able to add the DB Pro mount to the Lasernut and use the wing that way. But i'm not sure 100%.

Hey buddy how are you need you advice just bought the redcat big wheels rer12485 to put on my lasernut could u help me i need to know what size wheel nut and hex I need

How do I replace the rear sway bar?
when are you going to fit the Traxxas Maxx wide kit and the Traxxas cvd's

I would of named it the... Juggle Nutts!!
