      You've had yours for a few months now still like it? I'm looking for fun trail rigs for my kids and I and was looking at crawlers and other stuff..we had axial and trx4's in the past.. younger kids get bored with them easy. Im wondering if these would be worth a look and if I can turn it down (throttle end point maybe) what are your thoughts if you don't mind?

    • @longrider8265
      @longrider8265 3 роки тому

      For kids I would go with something with more bash survivability. I love my Lazernut but would say is more of a racer / gravel runner than a jumper / bashed. Depending on the age of the kids they may like more of a high speed brasher. If they found a stock TRX-4 boring consider going with a brushless motor in one - much faster and the drive train is pretty stout to handle it. The two speed transmission means you can ‘run’ in high and still crawl in low - great for a do all trail truck. I’ve never been much of a basher but am debating a Maxx myself. I have a trx-4 on brushless and its great. Lazernut wont crawl or do slow stuff well but great fun on a fast dirt trail.

      @@longrider8265 thanks for the info. I've been in the rc hobby since the clodbuster and bruiser first came out..lol and ive had all of them give or take .. im not a basher either and like scale stuff a little more than just going fast..but you know how kids are ..first question is usually "how fast is it" .. trx4 sports on 3s were plenty fast and I might look into them again.. take a summit 1/10 make it closer to stampede size keep the 2 speed trans selectable lockers and make it run on 1 battery id buy 5 myself lol the twin hammers is still to this day one of my favorite all round vehicles but you know... Discontinued.

  • @iramonnig882

    I picked up the blue one. I recommend swapping out the front steering with the Ten SCTE one. The steering posts wont work (metric vs SAE) but its ok as the stockers work fine. This removed ALL of the steering slop. Dropped in the Castle MMX & 1800kv, Futaba R334SBS & 4PM, MKS 500oz servo, SCTE Fr/Rr TiNi shock shafts, 1.8 shock pistons, 50w F/60w R shock oil, replaced steering bushing with bearings, installed aluminum front & rear chassis braces (rear required modification to fit), removed upper plastic chassis brace, Lunsford titanium turnbuckles, and placed all lights on Ch3 switch from Apex RC. Reliability hasn't been an issue but with all the TEN platforms available, its easy to get parts if I do break stuff. I did purchase (4) more tire/wheels because they are so great.
    The ground clearance and ability to scale tough obstacles with sensored operation & then still run 25-30mph is fantastic. It helps that the Lasernut is a good looking vehicle.

    Great video and review !!! This helped me decide to go get one. About 15 packs in, doing trail runs, the rear diff went. First off, Losi support has been excellent and sent out parts immediately. On UA-cam others have had diff issues. My failed it seemed like due to the case not being able to support the pinion bearing. That got loose and munched the case. I replaced both front and rear bearings with Losi TEN SCTE 3.0 diffs. All has been fine over the last dozen packs driving it hard. My recommendation for buyers is to wait for v2. My 2 cents. Thanks!

      @@BigJim5754 Hi James, I want to add this, the Lasernut is by far the RC I use most. I have about 300 packs through it since November. Looking at my Spektrum 4S battery I can see that it has been charged 90 times. I mostly run 3S on trail so 300+ is a real number. Vitavon has made an aluminum rear diff housing for the Lasernut. I have it on order. It isn't a basher so the Traxxas is for that. On trail in New England the Lasernut goes everywhere. Fyi: I have a Typhon which I think is a great alternative to the Lasernut. It's bullet proof and needs mods out of the box. Upgrading the transmitter was nice for me, I added an AVC reciever so it's easier to do speed runs. It will do anything with the right tires. I have Proline Avengers for pavement, stock is good offroad and jumping it 50 plus feet, and buggy tires to make it handle on dirt. Hope this helps!

      @@loum7008 Thanx! I've spent several days reading/watching stuff bout the Lasernut and other rc's trying to figure my 1st purchase. Not any racing yet (not even sure if/where theres a track near me) but I have a nice park and railroad tracks with fire roads right next to me so I'll be "bashing" mostly I think. I've almost come full circle back to Lasernut and just excpet I'll be upgrading some stuff like the Diff u mentioned. Good way to learn repairing I guess lol. Kinda also looking at the Kratons or maybe a rock rey 1/8. So many fun looking choices!

    • @loum7008
      @loum7008 3 роки тому +2

      @@BigJim5754 Cool! I do take the Lasernut on the railbeds near my house. Works great. I do have a Kraton 6s V5 which is awesome too. I put the Infraction, Lasernut and Typhon on a Spectrum DX5C transmitter. That is a great upgrade although the DX3 with the Lasernut is probably the best rtr transmitter out there. I have a Traxxas TQi for my TRX4 and that's good too. The Traxxas Slash Ultimate looks like great choice too. I ended up getting different RCs for different uses. I did just get an Arrma Bigrock. Inexpensive and tough. It just hangs in the air. 85 percent of the time that RC is doing backflips. If you think of it post back what you end up picking up. I'd like to hear what you think of whatever that ends up being!

    Have you compared the Losi Lasernut Tenacity against the Traxxas E-Revo VXL Brushless, or have any thoughts on a comparison RTR RC to the E-Revo? I have the E-Revo, and I'm looking for something that is comparable or slightly better than it.

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  3 роки тому +1

      If you already have the E-Revo 2.0, it's tough to find a comparable vehicle to that go-anywhere brute performance. The Lasernut is great, but it's 4S, smaller, lighter, less powerful, and probably less capable than the wide and low stance of the E-Revo. I like the Lasernut too, but I'm not sure if it's going to live up to your expectations.

    Hi Brett, I have a question about the Lasernut. I'm trying to find some replacement tires for it and I'm not sure what to get or what will fit. Stock tires are in general good but not good on rocks. I was able to fit these on my TRX4 and I couldn't climb anything. Also the stock wheels look great but the hex is very delicate. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  3 роки тому

      Yeah you bet. I believe the Lasernut uses standard 2.2" Rock Crawler tires and wheels, so you can use any within that category, including glue style, or beadlocks. Here are our categories:
      2.2" Wheels: www.amainhobbies.com/2.2-wheels-tires-wheels-rock-crawlers/c9918
      2.2" Tires: www.amainhobbies.com/2.2-tires-tires-wheels-rock-crawlers/c9926
      Something to keep in mind: Most rock crawlers are slow pokin' and thusly, not effected by heavy metal beadlock wheels. Your Lasernut on the other hand is a high performance machine and extra wheel heft will add some strain to your motor, and likely increase motor temps. It may be an issue, or it may not be, but if do go with heavy metal wheels, watch those motor temps.

      Lasernut Update. Hi Brett, here is what I ended up doing with my Lasernut. I replaced all the diff cases and an axle/hub kit with Vitavon. Pricey but it's bullet proof now (no hard bashing ever on this - Typhon for that). With the Castle sct combo 2400kv power is so smooth. I put G8 2.2 tires on it with Proline wheels. Putting 500k fluid in the rear locks it up nicely for low speed traction on New England trails (way different than CA) but still runs good at higher speed. This is still one of my favorite rc's. Thanks for the videos, I've been enjoying them. Thanks for all the great info helping me get going in RC. I'm totally in now with most purchases from AMain. Crazy sales this past Christmas season. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Brett! Keep up the good work buddy!
    I have an opinion question for you that I'd really appreciate your input on. I'm looking for one do-it-all, all-around all-terrain basher. I've kind of narrowed my list down to a Lasernut, a 1/10 Maxx, a 1/7 Mojave V2, or a Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0. If you had to have one RC to do it all, what would you choose? I know these aren't all direct or even that close of competitors to each other, but these are the ones that I'm most interested in. I live in the Milwaukee, WI area just fyi. I've been in the hobby on and off for roughly 20 years (just turned 34 today), owned a bunch of stuff mostly Traxxas, such as E-Maxx's, Stampedes, Slash's, but also some Losi and Team Associated stuff. I most recently just sold my 2 trucks, an E-Revo 2.0 and UDR to fund my next RC purchase. That's some background. I considered an X-Maxx as well so maybe add that to the list of possibilities. I really like the new Spektrum smart technology such as transmitter telemetry with battery fuel gauge, and I love stuff with LED lighting kits (such as Lasernut and SBR 2.0, or the Maxx optional kit). I want something that looks awesome, is fun and capable both on and off road, is durable and reliable, and generally gravitate towards models with special features like the aforementioned LED lighting kits, battery telemetry, self- righting, AVC/TSM, etc. That's why I'm pretty much considering Lasernut / Maxx / X-Maxx / SBR 2.0 / Mojave. Just really wondering your opinion, if you had to choose one of those for your only all-around RC, what would it be and why? Thank you so much for reading and for your time in advance, it's much appreciated!

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Michael. Those are some great vehicles you're looking at! Personally, I'd probably go with the Mojave or SBR for their size and extra power. And between them, I'd pick the Mojave over the SBR for it's simple and easy to work on chassis. I'm not a fan of working on bottom-loader vehicles like the SBR, SRR or UDR, but that's just my nit-picky bias. Someone else out there probably prefers working on them.. you never know. I hope my two cents have helped. You have a good decision to make, and they're all fun choices!
