Say it louder for the people in the back! You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, so many people lost their jobs through the pandemic and now we’re lying Instacart solely for their income. This is why it’s so sad when shoppers are treated unfairly. They are truly working hard and doing the work yet Instacart has no regard.💛

“Instacart doesn’t care about us.” Yes that’s every job though there’s a line from Malcom in the Middle that has stuck with me, "I'll tell you what they're going to pay you, they're going to pay you what all jobs pay, less than you're worth and just enough to keep you crawling back for more."

@JEN-on-the-GO! Jen speak to your IC contact and ask them to get rid of the priority list. All it does for the shopper is put items out of sequence in regards to aisle location. If they don't get rid of priority items don't push them all at the top of the list. Put them on the list according to location and just add a note "priority item". Would make the shop for the shopper that much smother.

I do instacart just enough not to loose my account. The reason is most Carter's (like you) set the bar so high that I seriously need to be in the right state of mind to even do it. Everyone get all the gig apps like she keeps mentioning (no matter how long the wait list is) trust me Instacart is by far the toughest (I have over 400 shops). Door dash is popping now but later it might be something else, also with other gig apps your not dreading the 1:45am rating check. Great job Jen love your videos.

Jen you are so sweet giving all this information. I was so excited to get started with IC only to find out that’s it’s a terrible company to work with. I waited on the waiting list for 4 months ( for one of my side gigs) The job itself isn’t bad the customer service and the pay is, they expect a lot of you for such little pay. I’m in management the #1 thing I do is treat my staff with respect it goes such a long way they are humans and so are the Shoppers. They have no live support if you are having trouble on an order they want you to chat via text, the rating system is completely one sided and unfair it’s ridiculous. I will be putting it on the back burner and continue to work my other side gigs on the side. They should hire you to work for their Corporation they could use the professional help. Thanks for sharing 😎

You are so sweet and thank you so much for your support. Yes, it’s a tough platform because the support is so minimal. I make about $800.00 a week in Las Vegas. That’s with batch pay and app customer tips. Doesn’t include cash tips. I NEVER do double or triple batches. I only do single. Overall I’m very happy being a shopper. Sometimes I do wait 20 minutes in between shopping orders waiting for a batch to accept but at that dollar amount every week, I’m not complaining.

I finally got onto the GrubHub platform. I know it’s only been 1 day and 13 deliveries, but I appreciate the way they go about recruitment. When I tried to sign up, the app said they are no longer accepting applications. They put me on a wait list. I thought I would never get off of it. But just recently I was cleared to work. And I must say, I like their approach. They actually prioritize drivers who schedule themselves on shifts. That completely makes sense. With DoorDash, the map pretty much always has a shaded color, meaning nearly almost at any time u can work without scheduling. Now why should drivers who schedule themselves be competing vis a vis those that don’t? So far, of all the gig apps I have tried, GrubHub is my favorite. Not just cuz of Jen on the go, but because I have done Instacart, it is truly my very least favorite gig platform. I have about 2,000 deliveries combined at this point, and I have never even received an email about being deactivated on food delivery. But then I hate shopping even for myself, so why would I like shopping for others? I’m going to get myself a little beater car, and deliver with reckless abandon. Finally, copper is exploding, ***COPX***Cheers Jen!

I’m in Maryland and I feel like the last few weeks the batches I see are low paying with a lot of items... like 50 -60 items and you’re lucky if that batch pays $20 bucks. I e made a new rule for me, I won’t even go unless I can get it done in under an hour and get at least $15-20 bucks and I’m a 5 ⭐️ . Thank god I started DoorDash it’s been a savior. So many of the batches are insulting and honestly I’ve only been with Instacart a few months and I’ve never seen anything higher than $50 something and it disappears within seconds. Faster than I could swipe for it. It’s bad. There was a Sams Club batch the other day for $7 and .01¢ for a tip. Just awful. Again DoorDash has been a huge savior to me and it’s much easier. My highest paid batch was $20 something... many would literally not survive in my area from solely IC.

Thanks again for the info and updates. I’ve not watched all your vids, but several. I am a new shopper, maybe done 12 deliveries or so. ( And within the short time have been asked for three selfie‘s from Instacart already ) My experience thus far has been fine. Certainly made rookie mistakes.
It seems you’ve unwittingly become a spokesperson for us shoppers. I appreciate it. Your genuine concern for others ( shoppers and all involved ) is apparent. Your desire to see what is honest and fair is also apparent. Maybe you should start your own “Instacart” :)
I will say that it is Not Okay for shoppers to fear being deactivated because they give a poor rating to chat support. Whatever the reason is that someone would leave a poor rating, it should be kept private ... between the shopper giving it, and higher-ups in the Instacart company. Why ask for us to rate them if we fear being penalized?
Anyway, my two cents. Now I must head out to my real job :)

Hi Nancy and thank you so much for your comment and support. The more shoppers know, the more they can keep their accounts safe. I agree with you about Chat support. I've heard from several agents say they deactivate shoppers, even though they are not authorized to do so. There is always a work around so IC shoppers just need to be aware and careful with this. Have a great weekend!💛

  • @hilda3632
    @hilda3632 3 роки тому +1

I’m in the San Diego area. I see batches all the time but not as many as before. I tend to only work on weekends since I have a full time job. I’ve been working for Instacart for about 2 years now and have always seen this trend. In general, business slows down on weekdays and picks back up on weekends. Also slows on “cold and rainy” days (our kind of cold at least 😂). And also slows down during months after Christmas. Picks back up around April and May. Lots of batches in the summer. Busiest time though is around the holidays.
California is also going through changes because of the new app based drivers law that just passed. Instacart is now paying California based shoppers at least 120% of the minimum wage, which is $14 in my area and $.30 per mile driven. Every week on Thursday, I’ve been getting an adjustment on my income from the week prior to make up for the % and mileage. Since I only work about 10-15 hours a week, my greatest increase has been about $100. But the more you work, the greater your adjustment.
You no are right about Instacart being over saturated with shoppers. At one point, my referral bonus was at $1500, now it is at $25. That leads me to believe that loads of people were hired when the bonus was that high.

Now it’s happening to me and I’m a five star, I am in Los Angeles I do have a 3% cancellation rate and I literally have to drive over to a store and walk through it and see if I can get a batch while I’m standing in the store or in the parking lot. Meanwhile I see team shoppers still shopping one girl told me her and her husband make $500 a day. I guess they’re both InstaCart shoppers and they swap phones and he goes and delivers while she continue shopping. I am seeing mom is with their little kids and they’re doing batches meanwhile I’m just by myself doing it the legit way I am getting nothing. I mean I’m seeing a couple batches here and there but they’re all 19 miles away and triples. I did get a decent one today I started late because I’ve lost the momentum so I started around 1:30 PM and I got a double for $48.22 items and the customer tipped more so I have $51 and then that’s it I’m sitting here in the parking lot in the hot sun because now we can’t go parkDown the street in shade we have to sit in the hot parking lot just to maybe get a batch. How is that going to work during the summertime they want us to sit in our hot cars in black paved parking lots? Thanks Instacart

I once cancelled a batch because my phone lost service and I even went to the att store near fb supermarket and found out the cell tower around here had a problem and it wouldn’t be fixed for at least a few hours. So I had no choice to cancel. And care said they will contact the customer and let them know that the shopper cancelled. And I was like wait, why? Cant you just put it back and let another shopper take it for them. Care said no, it doesn’t go back right away. I felt terrible that I bailed on the customer and they might have to wait hours more because I canceled but I had no choice, my phone had no service. So maybe that’s why they are not punishing for canceling a batch. I think when you do, it causes the customer to wait again before their batch is out back out. There seems to be some kind of turn around time

Hi Jen! Great info, I repost a lot of your videos on the FB Southern California IC page 😊 I’m in Hawaii taking a break and seeing a ton of comments on the southern California board about people not seeing any batches whatsoever. So I’m a little nervous about going home. But I’m also signed up with door Dash and GrubHub and Amazon flex so on days that suck with Instacart I just turn on door Dash and GrubHub. I haven’t tried the Amazon flex yet I need to do it. One day I was dropping off groceries and I saw on Amazon flex girl walking by and she laughed and said I used to do Instacart but then I got smart. She said Amazon flex is so much easier. But I’m not into the miles that they put on their cars. I have counseled batches and not been penalized for it so I better be careful now. In my area in Los Angeles you need to swipe pretty fast to get a good one so sometimes you don’t see all the details and you wind up wanting to cancel. But I’m going to have to be really careful now. But thanks for all the tips, you’re the best!

Lucky girl. I hope you are really enjoying that. Yes, currently and especially in the last week or so the batches in California are almost nonexistent. So many shoppers are talking about it and so many shoppers have reached out to me letting me know that this is happening and if there is a fix. I believe it’s oversaturation as Instacart hired way too many shoppers. Not enough demand and too much supply. Also the new shoppers are given access to priority batches. It is good that you have other apps running because a true gig worker does not rely on one app. Pls keep me posted! 💛

Instacart has started putting accounts on hold for 24hrs for non delivery to customer that are hand to customer deliveries. You go through the steps, try to message and call customer, wait 20 minutes, contract support to let them know. Support contacts customer and gets no response. Support knows you followed the steps to the T and customer is not responding. This is not the shoppers fault but they are still putting accounts on hold. Ridiculous.

Jen, a thousand well wishes and good fortunes in 2021 to you. Sigh, okay I'll keep this short(I can already see it's very long as I come up to edit and I apologize 😂😂)
I received a deactivation letter email yesterday about an order not being delivered that's what this is about and I thought I would reach out to you with my story as I prepare my response in the email that I will send them pretty quickly because times have taken as you know with these things 🙂🙂🙂
🤦🤦🤦 I'll preface by saying as a shopper I take responsibility for my actions. I've read the service agreements and as you have stated I consider it a privilege to work for instacart...but to the point.
I am a shopper residing in Houston Texas....this week the weather predictions were for sleet and cold conditions here in Texas and having been through some icy weather throughout the years I assumed things will be a little hectic... but to but to be honest having been through hurricanes floods I was pretty much meh you're not overly worried about it as I think most were in this state....
millions of of Texans would go on to lose power , lose running water, lose the ability to shower, lose the ability to have electricity, lose the ability to use our toilets after a few days, run out of food and not being able to take showers or even use the toilet.
..I don't want you to take pity on me there's people that have had it a lot worse but like yourself I feel very passionate and I care a lot about the customers and instacart..
. I think that instacart instacart support and shoppers ans the customers, and the stores did the best that they could given the chaos... I know that we were criticized( I say we meaning Inst cart) for being open during this week when sites such as doordash favor and others had shut down .... but I know and I can look at the service in securden we as instacart shoppers provided during this disaster might have been enough for them not to starve to death
but I think there was no way instacart could foresee store closings and store hour changes which happened many times over the week... stores would sometimes change hours twice in a day or just close given whatever situation they were in... so there were a plethora of batches that had no chance of being fulfilled or that were available during times stores might be closed it was a mess.
there was just a lot of craziness going on and we just did the best that we could.
I can only speculate and look at my records this week as far as I can see there wasn't an order that wasn't delivere.....
in my nine month instacart career anytime order I had delivered was missing a bag I left in the car or had them placed at the house next door... I always had instacart support call me, right even contact them to let them know I was rectifying the issue and we worked it out.
and you can go back on my comments and customers even mention that how I brought the missing item back and this was three or four times in a nine months span of course those were never lifted from the archives on my record but I just thought I'd let you know that anyways)....
🕺🕺🕺🕺so if I type to you while also assembling my dispute which I am trying to make is concise and as aesthetically pleasing providing pictures providing receipts providing GPS map coordinates for all the deliveries I've done this weekand even throwing my journal log up there to provide them with everything I've done this week.....
I just wonder if it's even going to be seen by a real person who sees it even knows about Texas and if any of that even matters 🥺 again I don't want you to feel sorry for me and I at the end of the day I'm responsible for my actions if I missed a delivery or didn't get it to the right person but I don't know I just don't know.
I am very curious about a first time instacart customer (which was included on a three batch order the ones that I usually don't take, but given the suffering and given what I've gone through I did take this three batch order)
this first time instacart customer who had ordered just three huge things of water which weren't available at the store...however I did manage to get water for them....as I do with all my customers including this customer I was very communicative about the grocery store issues scarcity and it's not like I really had to bring any of this up people know what's going on obviously but that's what I did ....🤔🤔🤔🤔 but this one never replied with anything giving all my responses given all of my pictures given all of my texts as well as my heartfelt apology that I wasn't able to get their original items it really bothers me when I can't get customers everything that they wanted especially once or suffering during this disaster......
unlike all the other customers this week regarding any replacements or refunds(which were more than I have ever done in my entire instacart career )
given the total depletion of supply at these stores given the weather or anything like that which was very very prevalent given the chaos.
people were very understanding and pretty much whatever they had put on their list we redid the whole thing in a lot of cases and people were very nice about it and grateful to be getting anything at all.
With people freezing to death in their houses, sleeping in their cars, with no power no internet no hope it was survival mode..with no running water in water not being available anywhere I made the decision not to cancel the order and get whatever water I could for that person.
in this three order batch against my spider-sense judgment that something felt not right(and this was because it was a first time order and I had received no response whatsoever unlike everybody else given The replacements the refunds the chaos at the stores)
and like on all other orders I got whatever water I could and people were very appreciative but I never heard anything back from this customer who was a first time customer and that just kind of struck me as odd.🤔🤔🤔🤔
    lol🦸🦸🦸
I think we all have that instacart shopper spider-sense when there's something not right on orders, having said...the cause of my deactivation according to the email which was for an order not being delivered might not have even been that delivery but trying to be a detective it just seems like the most likely culprit if in fact it was not me who made the error I don't see it as far as looking over everything but I know that we all make mistakes but if I did make a mistake I take responsibility but honestly we were just trying to do the best that we could given the chaos.
that it might not have been that order that's the only thing I can think of but I feel like I've got nothing to hide and I did nothing wrong as far as I can tell and I just hope that whoever reads my dispute letter will understand that the disaster that has been Texas this week.
I did the best I could to communicate with that first time customer order with the water. I heard nothing. I even left a little note about it (the fact that I couldn't get the type of water that they wanted but I did get the only water available which was I think you know a six pack limited by the store) with my thank you card and I have a feeling that might have been the the order that possibly said the order wasn't delivered maybe because it wasn't the water that they had requested or maybe somebody took it I don't really hold much stock in orders disappearing from where I deliver but people are desperate out here and I honestly I don't blame them I understand.
Whatever happened, I just feel dejected and not very hopeful about the outcome after I submit the dispute because I know how it goes with deactivations and I understand...as I close I will say once again as I do in my thank you notes to my customers 1,000 well wishes and good fortunes to you in 2021 Thanks Jen. Travis

Good morning Travis and happy Monday. Sorry about my delay in response and getting back to you. Sometimes I miss comments because I receive so many and it’s hard to scroll back. I’m glad I took the time to scroll back this morning though.
I am so sorry that you were going through this. Reading this is disheartening and perplexing. I know you were not playing the victim role here but you were advocating for yourself which is what you should do. Texas has been in devastation and anything that happened in the last couple weeks in Texas should be automatically forgiven from Instacart. Instacart is showing shoppers who they are time after time after time. They do not place value on morality. Their motto is greed and speed. I would not have high hopes if I were you and getting a response back from trust and safety. I do recommend though pushing this as far as you can and possibly seeking legal counsel to figure out your options here. You can also try contacting Instacart through their Instagram page. And I would do this daily. Go to their Twitter page and make a comment on Twitter as well. The fact that you were deactivated through this tragedy is unconscionable. On a sidenote, I am working on a pretty cool project project that will help gig workers in the future. I’m not in a position to disclose this as of yet but the announcement will be made soon. Please hang tough and continue to be hopeful and have faith. Stay on this.. I will say an extra prayer for you. Not having resolve is incredibly unsettling and anxiety provoking.💛

Thank God I reached out and say hi to all my “customers”.
Welp. Spend 10 minuets talking to chat support.
Got the order canceled with no consequences...and no “mark” on my record for that.
So a $30 batch became a $5 batch because it was a double order....and the other person just wanted some rice😑
That 2nd person agreed that was messed up and was understanding why “I took so long to get his rice”.
He thanked me for not canceling his little order despite the ordeal I went thru.

I just had my first MIA customer upon delivery ...on a "must hand groceries to the customer." I spent 30mins waiting, numerous calls, even instacart support couldn't get ahold of customer. IC provided a bump for waiting and will pay me for the order I shopped...but wants me to take time to return the items. This was a fairly larger order $130. Told IC I don't have time to return it this weekend as I've a family event. IC said I can return at a later date of my choosing?? Huh? I highly doubt the grocery store will accept the order with all this produce if I can't return it till next week or so. If I can't get this to be returned will I get in trouble?

    • @JENontheGO
      @JENontheGO  3 роки тому +2

When a customer is missing and the groceries are not deliverable, you will not be able to return the groceries back to the store. Most grocery stores don’t even except returns. This is not a possibility. All you can do is keep the groceries or donate them. Shoppers do this all the time. You can’t stress about this as was not your fault. There’s nothing you can do if the store won’t take these groceries back. When I accidentally left a full bag of groceries in my trunk, I simply told chat support the store store is likely not going to take them back and he told me to dispose of the groceries. Don’t worry, you will be fine. I would just let chat support know that you can’t take these grocery items back. 💛

They are new to us so raising prices that fast after trying to real in these small towns would have a negative affect on ppl needing the service. They barely tip now ans thats why. 1. The buy-one-get-one-free thing always trips me up, I didn't know IC was particular about that. I have to be very careful.
Sometimes the customer wants two boxes of cookies and when it's a BOGO sale, I don't know if to then pick 4 boxes or just two. I don't bother telling the customer about it, because it's best that they don't know they might be getting something I might end up putting back on the shelf.
    2. I helped a customer buy some drinks from a different store because they didn't have it in the store they picked on IC. It was a one time thing and I just figured I was going above and beyond, I've certainly been lucky enough to still be on the app.

Los Angeles Here, the problem is in LA the market is unbelievable saturated with shoppers, I mean half of them shouldn’t have been hired to begin with, you go to any grocery store from any chain that you could think of and more than half of the people inside are instacart shoppers, and worse at all... most Latinos, Easter Europeans and Middle East all co-shopping.
So yes there is not enough demand for everyone to make money, not even at a 5 stars, now at 5 stars I still see batches compared to others because I’m sure there is other metrics that most people know nothing about that are taken into account when sending batches to shoppers, maybe speed, maybe an AI check how you communicate with the customer, and well... maybe one day I’ll share this with you Jen but there is actually two metrics that I know as a fact they affect you but I never ever see them mentioned in any video from anyone, so at this time because I need to see batches to make money i won’t share what those two metrics are because obviously I’m not putting myself out of business, but once I get my regular manager job back I’ll share it with you so people that stay doing instacart can improve what batches they see.
def only doing Instacart until my workplace is allowed to open back once the pandemic is sorted out, so I have no intention in doing this for any longer once I get my night club manager job back.

I downloaded the app and for three days after that, I was seeing 10-15 batches. I was getting notifications almost every 30 minutes on new batches. I started with help from my cousin who has done this for 2 years now with 5 star ratings, by my side. While I was on my fist batch, my cousin suggested me to contact them because the batches are far from my location. The agent switched my locations and after that, I've had no batches available on my screen. I talked to 18 different agents now and none of them have answers. I'm not sure what to do. I'm on day 6 with no batches available.

If the store has self-service ring up for your order.. I always use that.. I can be in control and I can see exactly what's being run up and make sure that it's done correctly.. it's hard to monitor that all the time with the person working the register and sometimes I can give you an attitude if you have to go back and make sure that they ring it up properly.. so I like being in control and taking care of the whole process from the shopping to finally ringing up the products and the delivery.

Jen lots to talk about but first thing I will say is be friendly to the store workers even if they’re having a bad day and for crying out loud learn your store. After watching your videos I’ve made it a priority to build rapport with the store workers and the two most common complaint is that shoppers don’t know where anything is at so they rely on workers to help them shop their list in almost its entire ready and the second complaint that I’m hearing very commonly whether it be Ralph’s or Costco or whatever is that shoppers are straight up rude because they don’t think they’re going to be caught at the store workers are reporting them to their manager. The last thing Instacart wants is for stores not to want to do business so they will unfortunately keep coming up with new protocol to appease their grocery partners even if that hurts some of us good ones. The best advice I can give Are those two things

Hi Sondra. Yes, I agree with your son! While Instacart publicly states they are trying to resolve the BOT issue, the reality is they simply are not! They only care that these orders are getting taken care of, not not necessarily who is taking care of them. Instacart should be shamed of them self though because often times the bot users are not certified Shoppers with background checks. Shoppers just need to get creative and work around them. That’s all. Thank you for sharing.💛

Hi, sorry for disappearing it’s been a crazy week, real quick, not sure if you mention it on the video, I skimmed through it, Shoppers moving in/out of CA(or sh who used to shop in CA and have a CA zone as primary) will not see batches because of the prop 22 thingy in CA that sort of enforces guaranteed earnings for CA shoppers. Quick fix chatting in with support (should get transferred to the prop 22 chat) and updating your zone, for rest of the states the zone has no effect anymore, app pulls batches solely by the gps.
There’s a new “soft ban” for shoppers who cancel a whole batch after having moved to check out, this implies that it was due to a sh personal emergency (no customer or Instacart reason to cancel if you’ve already paid for an order) this is to avoid fraud, scams and in good will terms to “give sh time to deal with the emergency and return the items to the store”.
Don’t have much time, leave your questions here :)
    Have a good day!

The passage of Prop 22 in CA is triggering Instacart to change its algorithm. If shoppers are averaging more than 15 hours a week, Instacart is required to offer a healthcare subsidy. Mine in jan was over $600. The subsidy is per quarter. After that initial healthcare subsidy was offered to me, I began to see zero batches, or batches that were very low pay/high mileage. Now I am seeing random, average batches, but the income level I have been at with instacart for the past 3 years has gone from great to almost non existent in a matter of weeks. I think they are over hiring in order to spread the batches so thin to avoid having to pay the subsidy. For reference, I have a 5 star rating and have never had a negative incident, like a missing batch or anything like that, so I know that isn't the reason.

Hi Brianna! This is so interesting and I believe you just could’ve hit the nail on the head. Wow. Instacart knows exactly what it is doing. Shoppers need to start looking at other gigs for the revenue streams. This isn’t to put fear in anyone, but it has been weeks since shoppers have not been seeing batches in California and instead of shoppers trying to fight this they just need to find another source of income. I cancel batches from time to time if I accidentally accept a high paying batch that happens to have a low tip as I don't want to risk my rating but I don't hit start shopping. First verify there legally 21 and not intoxicated then proceed to take a photo of the customers ID the side that has the barcode make sure its not blurry an the whole barcode is in clear view. Use a second phone once your in your car and take a photo of the picture with the barcode then use your phone to scan the barcode once you have internet again to finish the batch. Delete the photo once you complete the batch. This 100% works when your in these rare situations. 😉

Here’s a better one. Ask the customer to use their wifi so you can do it the correct way.

@@jimmoulton9038 an if they say no to using there wifi then you can't finish the batch buddy many people won't want to give you there wifi password so you can complete your batch as its not there problem its yours.

Also I read the instacart contract and read this: after signing up you have 45 days to begin services after you complete a batch you now have 75 days to complete another one and if you don't they deactivate your account. So you can't take a 3 month vacation without taking a batch lol

As always love you video ! Just wondering Have you researched this Cover that is suppose to help you if your account gets deactivated ? My understanding is you pay so much a month. Just wanted to know if you have done any research on it.

Hi Vicki, thank you so much for your comment and support. Funny you should say that, Kover has reached out to me twice asking me to promote them for monetary payment. I have refused both times. Here is why. Kover is selling a service for their gain. So far, I have not heard of kover helping one single shopper get their accounts reactivated after they have been deactivated. In fact, shoppers are angry that they have paid money for Kover to no avail. I know they do other things that they claim like sell supplemental insurance. But in my opinion insurance isn’t needed, help with reactivation‘s is, and this isn’t happening. I am simply not comfortable promoting a product to the viewers on this channel that I can’t fully stand behind. This doesn’t mean I’m right, but ethically it doesn’t feel right to me. 💛

There could be, I have yet to find it. I will definitely update people if I feel comfortable and promoting something that I know for sure actually works.💛
