Happiness is a choice no matter where you live. I had a friend tell me that she was done with my perpetual poverty. I laughed. I wasn't on any kind of government assistance and I worked the jobs that I wanted (and still do) and lived within my means. We have what we need and pretty much what we want and I have peace. That's what matters.
I worked with people from Mexico and all around the world for 28 years, and to be perfectly honest that was my best years. They taught me so much about life. And, they were always sincerely interested and concerned about the people around them. They all greeted me with a smile every day. If I ever needs help they were there.
I spent a week down in Bahia De Los Angeles 25+ years ago doing volunteer work with sea turtles. At that time the only electricity in town was when they ran the town generator. There was one local restaurant. We were a ways outside of town at a government run research center. We slept on cots under an open palapa right on the beach. It was an incredible experience. Spent our days taking care of the turtle tanks, finding food for the turtles and helping visiting scientists with their research. Happy Adventures!

I can’t believe I just spent an hour on a Friday afternoon watching this entire video… which was awesome; But I have no greater love than Mexico! And it’s because of the people who ARE so very happy and friendly. if you think Baja is great, you need to go to Cozumel! You have never seen happier, friendlier, people and (so so many roaming dogs!) loved your music choices throughout, which made me feel like I was in Cozumel again too. Great work Carolyn. Stay safe-

I loved this video. Had some length and satisfied my need for a good dollop of your Mexican journey. I have had experiences in MX and always saw the kindness and happiness of the people. It didn't take me long to not see poverty, but a different lifestyle, one that met their needs in a different way than in the USA. I despise the consumerism that is the way of life in the states. After years of working corporate, I finally found my old hippie happiness by getting rid of all the shit I owned and became a nomad. I have always wished for a little driftwood shack on the sea in Mexico. I could see myself in many of the places you have traveled to on this trip. Hello Carolyn. Such a great video! The veggie soup looked awesome. You are so spot on about "stuff" and people wanting more. I've never understood it. Happiness to me is nature. The trees the lake the birds....I love playing and camping. My extra money goes to children. School supplies, lunch money, clothes. Seems like you are having so much fun in Mexico! Loved your video Carolyn. Just wanted to let you know your 'corn' tortillas were made with Maseca. There was a bag of it to the right of the women who was collecting the tortillas off the conveyer belt. You can buy this stuff almost anywhere in Tucson AZ where I come from. If you got a tortillas press, you can easily make your own. Also, you can make tamales out of the same stuff. The 'real' tamales are made of fresh ground corn; green corn tamales. They also have 'organic' non-gmo corn masa flour if you want better quality. Love you my friend. ❤
Good for you Carolynn! Maybe people that put you down for being in an Rv have not the guts to do what you do, so they shouldn't take their boring lives out on you! Starlink! My brother and his wife use Starlink in rural bush Alaska where you have to fly in only! They had another service and were paying about $175 USD a month. Starlink has a higher initial cost but as long is it’s operational for a while you will save money in the long run.
I love your videos. I would never be brave enough to do what you do. Kinda living vicariously through you. I may not always agree with your opinions, but that’s ok. We are adults here and, all ideas should be welcomed. Keep up your journeys and be careful out there.
I disagree with you on many things,( that doesn’t matter) but you’re right on about how Americans are so caught up in the system of buying to be happy. We are just used work and consume. I loved this episode and you and I are in total agreement in this area. “Society “ by Eddy Vedder , is a perfect song for this episode.
Carolyn, your comments on Mexican happiness versus American anger really struck home with me. I have had the same experience when travelling to the poorer countries. But it also really hit me when I had been at a conference in London a few years after 9/11 and came back to the U.S. where everything was FEAR, ANGER, HATRED, UNFRIENDLINESS, PARANOIA - maybe rightfully so at the time, but it sure was palpable and I wanted to leave again. Also, the New York airport and busses, etc. were shabby and it sure didn't seem we had much to brag about in this wonderful capitalist society. I was embarrassed and felt bad for foreigners who would come to my country.
Although you say you need the solitude, your joy and happiness exude out of you among your friends/fellow travelers. I can feel the lightness of the culture there. So many wonderful shots like the sunset 2/3 into the video as backdrop to your van..So funny, your "por favor" and "gracias" both at the same time getting your tortillas - nothing like freshly hand made! Thanks for the glimpse into your travels!
You said that being there makes you want to move to Mexico. I think that’s a good idea. Spend a year or two there and immerse yourself completely in the culture. It would be an experience of a lifetime. A few weeks isn’t enough time.
You are so right Carolyn! Life is not about stuff, material things. Its about experiences, learning, simplification, and spending time with people you care about. I feel exactly the same way. Id rather have less stuff and more experiences than a bunch of stuff and an emptiness and unfulfilled journeys. My philosophy...Less is More. Those who criticize and complain to you are indeed miserable people. They are not happy unless they bring others down. Sad sad existence they must be in. Also I have heard from time to time that some people create AI programs that do nothing but go onto threads and say hurtful things to get the masses riled up. Bots of utube. Ty for carrying us along on your trip in Mexico. I have enjoyed your videos.
"If life isn't an adventure, you're doing it wrong!" ~ Carolyn's RV Life That sounds like a mighty fine t-shirt or bumper sticker. Also, I am so sorry to learn that so many people thought it was appropriate to unload a bevy of anger and judgment on you for doing your own thing. It says a lot more about them than it does about you.
Your words about being materialistic, are so true!! I like nice things, but not expensive things!! I'm happy with my little lot and grateful, for what i have!!!❤

It’s not on this video, but one of your videos I saw you battling ticks. I’m not sure in your research or if anyone has ever suggested Cedarcide. I live in Kentucky. I found it to be one of the best things to battle ticks for my dog and myself. You could also spray your motorhome down with it your bedding carpet, etc. really enjoy your videos. Your inspirational you’re on a lot of the same wavelength. I’m on politically and more stay safe. Stay free. Stay kind.
"Be happy with what you have" is a small town or farm thing, we have it here too! (usa) but you have to look for it to see it cause small town and farm folk are not spouting all kinds of nonsense, they are just happily living their lives : ) so that kinda happiness goes unnoticed by the masses who have forgotten it!
The shrimp and fish and eggs are good for you! I would love that. If the menu is in English you know you are in a tourist place. Plan - Don't try to go shopping on a Sunday! I am surprised even the groc store was open. Hope you will keep Sadie on a leash. Coyotes can get them even on a leash but not as easily. So glad you are enjoying Baja!
We are here in Baja, having a great time in our Skoolie, 100 percent with you. Living a frugal happy life with neighbors who appreciate what they have. Some areas of Mexico have problems, big problems, but that is not all Mexico.
Carolyn, you have the right outlook at life. I'm so sick of commercialism and materialism. I'm sick of the whoever dies with the most toys wins attitude. In my 65 years, I have experienced that poor people are much kinder than rich people. Glad you are having a wonderful time. Enjoy! Safe travels Carolyn.👍😁
Happiness come with in no matter what life throws at us . Mine over matter . I realize change what can and you can't worry about what can't. Live to be happy with what type of life style you choose ❤
I love watching women RV travelers, it's so much fun to watch you and your experiences. And yes it is so very sad how so many Americans always need more stuff and don't like the simple life, but what ever were all on our own path right? All I can say is you gals ROCK!!!! ❤
You hit the hammer on the head with your comments about happiness. Add in a whole industry that's been created that profits off of keeping people aggrieved about things that have no impact on their daily lives, and it's a miracle that there's any content, well adjusted people in this coutnry.
You've got that right about our system based on wants and consumerism/consumption and the general lack of happiness and contentment. I have travelled throughout Baja and parts of Asia (India, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand) and never have I found people more friendly and happy and welcoming than there. Walking through villages I have repeatedly been invited into people's homes to share a bit of food or tea and invited to talk in schools, visit with village elders and religious elders in Bali and have had almost an entire small village gather to talk while I rested. Contrast that to the US where I invited two guys into my home for dinner at the end of their walk across America and they said that not once had anyone invited them into their home during their entire journey.
Totally agree with you Carolyn you're on the path that works for you if your happy and you know it, clap your hands! So glad the cops and military helped you. there's a measles problem occurring in other parts of the world, so if there's no threats of measles, stick around in the Baha! Last thing you need is to get sick! You owe nothing to your detractors Carolyn, what you owe is to yourself and your level of happiness. So Happy for you!
What a wonderful observation, It makes so much sense, I remember when I was a child in the early 50's not having anything and we were happier.Yes consumerism has ruined us and our life. Thanks you for pointing that out, I has given me something I want to think about. Now you are in Baja I wonder how it would be in Old Mexico. hmmm thanks.
When haters spit out their hate . . . be grateful that you don’t live in their brain. It’s miserable in there. You have a beautiful spirit living in your brain. ❤️

Beautiful video, and your music choices are lovely too :)
Wanted to thank you for this great video, and sharing with us. 😊
Yes!!! Nature is where all the answers are! Thank you!
I agree totally with you about the materlism is US. I am a nomad and have nothing, and I am very happy and content!!!❤
Good for you Carolynn! Maybe people that put you down for being in an Rv have not the guts to do what you do, so they shouldn't take their boring lives out on you! I love your channel and you always go to some of the most interesting places. I love your dog Sadie she is so well manured and so beautiful!. The people you traveled with are so nice and cute together and ive been watching their channel. You work hard at making videos and i appreciate that. Gods Speed to you and Sadie in your next adventure s.
I totally appreciate your observations of the Mexican people. And your thoughts on happiness, materialism, and consumerism. Sadie is such a kick!!
Carolyn and you're buddy's being free is always hard. The heck with the Debby downers in the world. You're living the life I wish I could.Stay free.❤
I noticed the happiness in Cuba when I was there in ‘16. The people seemed joyful and layback.
Carolyn, you summarized American materialism perfectly; kudos to you. Continue being happy and being kind and living your best life!
"If life isn't an adventure, you're doing it wrong!" ~ Carolyn's RV Life
That sounds like a mighty fine t-shirt or bumper sticker.
Also, I am so sorry to learn that so many people thought it was appropriate to unload a bevy of anger and judgment on you for doing your own thing. It says a lot more about them than it does about you.
I haven’t watched you in a while, but I am LOVING this trip sooo much! Can’t wait to see more!!♥️
Mexico agrees with you. You are laughing a lot. I’m glad to see the light heartedness you are experiencing again.
Thank you so much!
Your words about being materialistic, are so true!! I like nice things, but not expensive things!! I'm happy with my little lot and grateful, for what i have!!!❤
Omg that was an awesome video!!! Love love all your adventures with Sadie❤❤
Im your age...31 foot class c...ok traveling in USA...I love Mexico and culture...afraid to do it alone...I subscribed to you...I'm assured I can find people like you to travel with for safety
It's amazing all the things you've shown us and tell us, you would think totally the worse if we listen to most news. So thank you for shining a light on the reality of Mexico and all the sweet people and their beauty.
Can't handy wait to see the next one. Blessings!
I love the tshirt idea! And that tortilla and avocado looked delicious.
You inspire me to step outside my norm, think deeper and put myself out there. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself and your life's journeys
I'm so glad!
It's reassuring to know others think the same way. Thank you Marilyn
YES! YES! YES! I love what you are saying.
Happiness come with in no matter what life throws at us . Mine over matter . I realize change what can and you can't worry about what can't. Live to be happy with what type of life style you choose ❤
What wonderful life lessons and reminders!! Thank you again for sharing Carolyn
Absolutely love this! Thank you for this video! Mexico reminds me of Costa Rica. So happy.
You are so right about being in a society of needing more and sadly of needing a way to pay for basic survival.
When haters spit out their hate . . .
be grateful that you don’t live in their brain.
It’s miserable in there.
You have a beautiful spirit living in your brain. ❤️
Great video Carolyn. Thank you for sharing your adventures in Mexico! Safe and Happy Travels to all of you.
Every day is a learning experience! Take it as it comes smile and keep keeping on!
Good for you!🎉
Always an adventure!!❤
Thank you for sharing this! ❤
You guys must love drama with your rigs! I would gladly pay to spend the night somewhere safe so I wouldn’t have to worry about getting stuck in the sand again! Peace of mind is priceless!
And boring! 😂 staying safe is good, avoiding experiences because of possibilities is boring.
Wow I just love your utube ! When you cut your hair !! Don’t you all love beaches sand ! Trust me I know how it is ! Be safe ! Have fun ! ❤Kerp great work ❤all you all
