- I wanted to learn how to put a better finish on metal so I decided go teach myself how to powder coat. I am new at this and learning more every time I do it, so go easy on me. I like powder coating a lot better than paint it is much more durable and has a nice finishing look.

You are proof that you can match the big commercial manufacturers with your own finesse!

Awesome :) I thought it was a more complicated process :). Your movie makes me want to try it myself :)
He ignored several key phases of the operation either cause he did not know about them or was to lazy to do them.. But hey this is Y/T your PI rating exceeds the needs to follow standardized codes ..
Awesome video as always Jimbo!!!
Thanks for watching Zach, Jimbo!
Great vid thanks for posting this. What 'paint' did you use for the clear ones?
I didn't realize how easy it is to powder coat. The holders look great Jimbo!
Thanks for watching, Jimbo!
CT moog harbor freight pc guns are actually decent. Their powders suck however.
Cured powder coating adheres best to a sand blasted finish. It gives the part some tooth for the plastic to hold onto.
Great setup really! If you every want more color options try Prismatic powders out! They offer over 6,500 colors 😁.
thanks for watching Ace, I will! Jimbo!
Hey Jimbo great video any ideas of a type of powder coating system to use for steel gates and fencing??
Exterior durable kind of pure polyesters powder
Thanks for sharing that Jimbo! Just wondering, how many different color options do you have for your holders?
Thanks for watching Tim, Those are the colors i'm going with. Stick (red), Mig (chome), tig (blue), angel grinder (orange), And plasma (army green). Jimbo!
Awesome video I like the oven set up. Which power cost machine did you get? I like the blue. Can you only power coat steel?
Welding Junkie you can powdercoat anything that can become electrically charged and will withstand 400degrees for 20-30 minutes. This includes some plastics.
Hello Jimbo. Thanks for the new video. One more time I have learned something new. I have one doubt. I presume that you use DC. Do you connect the positive pole to the powder coat or to the part to be painted?
Thanks for watching, Jimbo!
do you have bottles for each color?
No Rustprotection (Primer) in General , powdering direct over metal ?
These are pretty slick. I'd love to order a pair but the shipping and customs charges are ridiculous.
Really easy
Thanks for watching Edgar, Jimbo!
where did u get the gun and colours from..im guna do that...keep up the work jimbo .i enjoy the videos
Thanks for watching J Hood, Eastwood.com Jimbo!
What Powder Coating system are you using in this video?
Hey Jim, try hot flocking the part. Heat it to 300, then shoot it. Place back in the oven for 10 min. Shut the oven off and let it cool in the oven. You get a better shine in my experience. Nice job!!!
Thanks for watching and your advise, Jimbo!
Should have added, love your channel, I can relate to your projects!
Great is he.
who?
JIMBO!
Hello. Why heat up?
Hey Jimbo,
big fan all the way from Australia. Really want one of you magnetic tig torch holders but your website says it doesn’t send to my part of the world, is there something we can do to make this happen please.
Thanks for watching Anthony, Yes i can, But shipping and customs are a nightmare!! Shipping is around or over $100. Jimbo!
JIMBO'S GARAGE well that’s a bummer, really wanted a piece of JG in my garage
The 20 minute time is suppose to start when the metal temperature is up to 400, not the oven temperature. You should really be curing them around 40 minutes or so in the oven. Also, if you move your ground clip to each part you will have an easier time getting coverage since there is powder on your rack that it can’t ground through.
Thanks for watching and your advise, Jimbo!
DC is right. The timer starts once the powder flows out. Any less and you run the risk of it flaking off. You really cant over cure PC on steel. Cast aluminum is a different animal all together. Outgassing can be a huge PITA.
400 degrees celsius or fahrenheit??
It's very nice jimbo ..... how I want to oder .... I want buy 2 set. ... I'm from Malaysia
Thanks for watching, You can go to my website, Jimbo's garage.com
I understand all that, but what about the tiny piece that's touching the hook? How does that part get coated? Or does it stay bare?
Thanks for watching, In my case the hook is bent over just 1/8'' so yes that part does not get coated, but the magnet base covers it. Jimbo!
JIMBO'S GARAGE oh ok, i guess i should just try it instead of overthinking it.
Its mostly 20 min depending on powder and when your part hit 400° F
Is that the Eastwood powder coat system?
Thanks for watching Edward, Yes it is. Jimbo!
The cheap shitty one from horrible freight works just as good. ;-)
How many hours in a day ? I think Jimbo either has a big hidden crew or found a way to get 40 hr days
2:08 You omitted several key parts of the process prior to coating and fouled the work are by touching it with your bare hands..
