Your example about math class really resonated with me. I personally attended a small christian school that had a small number of kids in my math class. The majority were pretty gifted in Math ( i felt ). When asking a question, I too would be in a situation where I still would not see the solution but would not ask more questions after seeing the annoyed look on my teacher's face. I was always so embarrassed which ultimately led me to dropping out of school.

Love the mugs! Social anxiety is something I experienced as a younger person, definitely as a school age person. Gradually dealt with it, and now that I’m retired, it’s miraculously gone! I think I worry much less now especially about what others think about me. I realize that nobody cared about that as much as I it was exaggerated by my anxiety. Benefit of aging. I’m grateful. Evolving and learning sometimes is reasier

Kami, I completely relate to everything you said about your social anxiety, especially with how it relates to how your learned (or didn't learn) math. You have helped me to realize that social anxiety probably caused my fear and hatred of math as well. I was always to scared/shy/embarrassed to ask for help and never wanted the attention of not knowing what I was doing.

I Love the socializing in small town cafes. I even provided "Hartford diner mugs" for the break room at Dyno Nobel here in Simsbury, Ct. There used to be a counter in every pharmacy. Yet another reason to avoid big box chains. People

Thanks for talking about this Kami!
I'm a big believer that (especially for naturally shy/quiet types) you have to have a loving, accepting, environment at home where you feel like you can have fun in order to be able to go out into the big world without seeing others as above you, judging you. It's kind of like you need to feel like you're on a team first who has your back. I got social anxiety as a teenager, thought it was normal teen stuff but it wasn't, I thought every little thing I did was looked down on by everyone (even though most people had apparently just thought I was "cute" (gross). But honestly, I was going home to an empty house most of the time, and looking back on it knowing the kind of personality I have no wonder I was so anxious.

What a great way to teach them communication skills, hard work, dedication, responsibility, and in such a unique way. We can all learn from this, and come up with our own spin on this.

I wonder if Kami is a Reflector? Have you ever looked up Human Design systems? It’s an interesting and fun map of individuals based on birth data. It helped me with my social anxiety a ton. It doesn’t require “belief” more of a map to take or leave how you choose. Kinda like Myers Briggs.

I can definitely relate with your feelings of social anxiety. A lot of it I think has to do with my insecurities growing up hard of hearing. I never have been able to make the connections in math either. I still deal with these anxieties and insecurities in my 30s. Thank you for sharing this and helping others feel less alone. ❤

Don’t hate me, but I think you should do a deep dive on fractions. I was the same with math. I can remember not understanding that we were memorizing our multiplication tables. It was never explained that we were just memorizing. I kept trying to ask what the function meant and was told I need resource classes. Idk. The teacher was a bitter bitch too. I wish I had just been a bitch right back, second grade regrets. I think it’s inspiring that you’re talking about all of this so openly. My husband says that everyone feels the level of anxiety you described and has just learned to “harness” it. I need to harness my anxiety. Nah, BABE, but thanxx. Then again, is he right?!?!?

Thank you sharing. I have suffered through this social anxiety for a long time. I have used meditation to help me (at least twice a day). Again thank you for sharing! We are not alone and continue to improve our social interactions.

Kami, I so absolutely identify with all you were reading about social anxiety. It has really helped me to have someone in my life who brings meaning to my life and makes me feel like I count and what I think and say count. I still struggle with it, but wow, I can tell I've worked through a lot of it as well. My self talk has really changed. I'm also almost 50 and I think age is helping, too! And on another note, you have such a pretty face. You should definitely get a pixie cut! Check out Scarlett Johansson's short hairstyles. I can totally see you rocking that 💗

Yes, I too struggle with social anxiety and really just anxiety in general. It's funny that we both married really out-going, friendly, more aggressive, assertive people. It has never really gone away for me (I'm 58) but one just learns to fake it! haha

Did you do a vector line design or pixel? Can't imagine why someone would say they couldn't go bigger unless that's the biggest they could go without selling you a distorted image. With Vector there is no limit on the size.

Kami! Maybe try therapy, for your social anxiety. Also, I know medication works for some people. There are many resources you can take advantage of to get help if that's something you would be interested in.

Cold houses give me social anxiety. Need to be at least 73° Facebook gives me social anxiety. I hate to have to go on it so I deleted my account. Patreon and $20 cups give me social anxiety. Can’t believe that cat of yours if I tried shaking hands with any of our cats they would scratch the heck out of my arm from my elbow to the tips of my fingers.

Baxter State Park has age rules on getting to the top of Katahdin. Rainier wasn't old enough to go beyond the treeline in order to summit because he was too young, so they decided as a family that they would all stop and summit at the treeline with Rainier.
