Hi, great video by the way. How well did these end up working as I might do the same. Did it stop the snow? Did they hold up good after all these years? thanks
If you have an actual metal roof, you can attach snow guards to RIBS. These are field made panels, that are about 3 feet long. So they are easy and cheap to replaces. Besides that, snow guard works like a valve in your faucet. It compresses sealant down, and sealant works as a gasket, not letting water in (even if you totally ignore sealing properties of the caulk).
+William Guamam price per square foot of snow guards? :) ... If you mean ice belt - I think it's better to price per linear foot. I'd say $40-45 / ln ft is fair without snowguards.
+coolflatroof I hear You , all about what the customer wants??? In Canada snow guards do not stand "A" chance!! And tin roofs with higher pitch's ?? You would swear there is nothing stopping it ...BUT! RETENTION BARS....PERIOD!! Because when SNOW SLIDES , TONS!!! PEOPLE!!
+Dan Carroll has nothing to do with what customer wants. Ice belts are made of thin aluminum and are only 3 feet long and are held by 5-6 smooth roofing nails. They are also like 2.5 feet wide... So if we put retention bars on ribs, snow would pull out bars together with panels
Snow guards and retention bars together ' work well 'in some areas .Retention bars act to slow down the rush of snow over a walkway' or beside your neighbors house. They are screwed in to the strapping and trusts? never nailed ??? Also electric heat line cable works well 'but costly ?? It really has it's pros and cons...? on tin roofs ......? But as You must know ' Snow and Ice have a way with roofs...
Ice dams as a result of problem roof snow is a major problem and sometimes a very costly one. If you can prevent the snow from accumulating on the roof you can prevent an ice dam from forming. Only the first 6' to 8' back from the roof edge needs to be cleared of snow. The MinnSNOWta Roof Razor will allow you to remove this snow safely, easily and from the ground. The Roof Razor is not a roof rake. Visit www.MinnSNOWtaOnline.com/p/video-gallery to watch our videos of this revolutionary snow removal tool in use.
Last year with the big snow we sold several thousand. This tool is revolutionary. In a few years the traditional roof rake will no longer be produced. Watch our product videos at www.MinnSNOWtaOnline.com/p/video-gallery.
No it doesn't! These are 4 foot long panels and idea was to hold as much snow back as possible. Hence snow guards are low and in straight line. If these panels went all the way up, then staggered is the right way, but not on short snow belt panels

Great tips, easy to understand. Thank you.
What snow guards do you recommend? I'd love to order some today.
I've been getting the clear snow guards from SnowBlox ... 3 inch wide
No way would I put screws though my metal roof that I just spent 34 grand on.

A few thousand screws are what is holding your metal roof on my friend. Am I wrong??
Not enough sealant. Look at SnowJax installation video!

retention bars are better by far
+Dan Carroll retention bars require proper mounting surface. these ice belt panels are not proper mounting surface!

Again, you are doing it wrong! It needs to be in a staggered pattern. FAIL. #manzier
