The Farmer X is the most complete SAX for the size it is. It is a realistic and usable knife without the bulk you get with any celidor variant with the same amount of tools. The alw/reamer/punch is in itself a multitool.
I love this model it’s definitely my favourite, just the right amount of tools it’s really well made and tough really tough I’ve tried other pocket knives and I hate when you pull the blade out and it rattles side to side when you apply pressure you definitely don’t get that with this knife tight fitting well tuned really superior build quality on this the back springs are nice and tight, I love this model the saw, scissors, the Alox scales, it’s so compact I go everywhere with it.
Hi from Calgary Alberta. I agree completely that Farmer X Alox is near perfect. I do however compliment it in my Alpaka Hub pouch with Knipex Cobra XS 4” pliers, a Gerber Dime (for needle nose pliers, tweezers and a small precision blade), a Zebra mini telescoping ballpoint pen and a NiteCore Tini2 500 lumen torch. For me, I now feel I’ve completed my EDC.
@@SlipjointSawyer I'm a big SAK fan (not collector, as such), as I also have a 58mm Manager clipped into my laptop bag, and a 58mm Minichamp Alox (designed, as you know, in the 1930s for pharmacists and med students) clipped into my toiletries travel kit. Thanks for your videos - I'm always keen to learn more...
Love them! I’ve had plenty in the past, but I don’t currently have any Victorinox in my collection. I need to remedy that. Good stuff as always, Matt! 👊🏻
I ended up going with a Hiker instead of a Farmer as my first Victorinox (as much as I liked how the farmer felt). The proper Philips screwdriver is what swung it - it’s a lot less likely to damage the screw head, and will easily reach any recessed screws compared to the one on the tip of the Farmer. Perhaps using the combo tool from the Bantam to replace both the can & bottle opener would free up space for a screwdriver 🤔
Hey Matt, Love this one, I’ve got the Farmer but the addition of the scissors is great. Big fan of the Alox, just a bit more robust feel. Love the custom compact, Dan’s work is stunning. Think the Farmer X is a fantastic edc option. On a side note, are you ready for the Sharp Show? We’ve got tickets and accommodation sorted and looking forward to going. 😀 Another fantastic review, thanks brother 😎👍🏻
I find it counter-intuitive that the nail nick on these scissors appears on the wrong side. On the 'usual ' side, it would still be perfectly accessible, making it in line with most other SAKs.
I have the Pioneer X and the Compact. The Compact has to be the best EDC urban carry around. I chose the Pioneer X over the Farmer X because I didn't fancy the extra weight of the saw. I wouldn't use it enough. But I can see for someone more outdoors than me would love it.
Farmer x is superb and a lovely EDC and I tried it for a few months I do like a set of plus scales and corkscrew for storage though, so I go Companion 91mm and mini screwdriver day to day, and a huntsman with fireant when in the field
Great reviews! Another star knife. I love the pioneer range. Just for clarity: you said the blade length was 3 and 3/4 inch. I know you meant 2 and 3/4. I only mention this because it matters legally in the uk. This definitely is a legal knife and I’m sure most people realise that. Thanks again. Great knife. 👍
I can certainly see that one being useful, but it'll take a hell of a lot to divorce me from my 84mm Tinker lol. But then, an EDC is a very personal thing. Especially when it comes to knives.
I know that the flathead, blade and can opener are thicker than regular 91mm models, but does that also apply to the scissors and saw, or are they the same as the Huntsman?
I currently carry a compact but am considering replacing it with either the pioneer x or the farmer x in the alox versions as I don’t tend to use the scale tools!
I Know it’s not another Victorinox 😂. I think you have an obsession. I do like the alox. I lost the toothpick today from my one and only Victorinox knife. I’m totally bummed about that. That one cool. I will get one in alox eventually.
I EDC the hiker or the huntsman. The Farmer X reminds me alot of a huntsman lite. You loose a few tools score some slimness and tool chunk. Its a fantastic tool though as i have a,huntsman its role would fit the same niche.
Wish they would make a two layer 91mm alox with the big knife and scissors. Would much rather a smaller tool than including saws and can openers personally!
Didn’t know that the blades were thicker on the Alox model. As for favourite, I’m still loving the Compact at the moment. That and the Mini Champ. Great review, thanks for sharing 😁🫡
I really like the Farmer X. For me the Alox knives are over priced. Wish they made the same tool configuration in the less expensive plastic scale knives. You can almost buy two Fieldmaster's or Huntsman's for the price of one Farmer X.
Old Soldier's are the best 93mm Alox. maybe not the best tool set but the most heavy duty and the walk and talk is day and night different to current 93mm Alox stuff
I've had my Farmer X for about three years now, and I love that knife. Thanks for your thoughts on it, buddy!
Thanks David

"The Farmer X is the most complete SAX for the size it is."
No, that would be the Ranger, or even the Fieldmaster or Huntsman.
I can't stab a tank to death.
That is not a good selling point.

I also have the Pioneer X and want to get a Farmer x as well, it's on my short list. 👍Thanks for sharing, take care my friend and Cheers!
Thanks, Toad 🐸🙏🏼
I would choose the Farmer X over the Pioneer, just for the additional sawblade. Not for the office, but whenever your outdoors. Thank you Matt.
Good choice! Thanks Jeroen

Nice review 👌 Can see the appeal, great knife. Hard to justify £50 spend when i have a huntsman, camper, tinker, bantam alox and solo alox.
Understandable, but if you pull the trigger, you'll know why 👀🔥
No doubt, thanks for your reply.

That would be a great idea 👀
I wish Victorinox would make a Champion version of the 93mm Alox.
That would be excellent
A great tool. What do you reckon to the idea of replacing the wood saw for the metal saw/file?
I like it

I can’t think of a better option to date.👍 I can’t believe you’ve done this!!!!!
You and me both!
My FX has been my EDC for about 2 years now. The reamer is fantastic at 'drilling' holes in wood. Good camping tool.
Amazing thank you for watching
I like the Farmer X however, I wish the awl had the sewing eye.
That would be a great mod to do 👀
Now that’s a beauty!
Happy Friday to you.
Cheers, RW

Would vote for Alox Bantam. Absolutely brilliant in every sense of the word

84mm is king. Wish there were still scissors in that size
I know that the flathead, blade and can opener are thicker than regular 91mm models, but does that also apply to the scissors and saw, or are they the same as the Huntsman?
Exactly the same
My Farmer X is Great.
Pioneer Alox X is my most used SAK but realy fancy one of these.
Same with me along with the compact

Yes the blades are slightly thicker and more solid feeling overall on the alox models.

MAD scales
