Back in the day, EVERYONE had Americas Greatest Hits Album. They had such a unique sound. Also check out "You Can Do Magic" by them, from a different album.
Sadly it’s because music isn’t as prevalent among kids. Everyone had friends who played piano ,guitar ,harmonica etc, also in our youth not being original was looked down on. Making your own sound was how musicians shone. There are many great young musicians out there I wish music companies would nurture their talents instead of sampling and propping up the mediocre ☮️
I didn’t know MJ did this song in his own version. I went and listened to it as from your reference. Great reaction Ace, it’s always great to learn and listen vicariously from reactors to open other perspectives ✌🏽
My thoughts on your question. I don't think it's wrong for musicians today to explore technology as it improves, but it's important to remember it can at times make the human being lazy. Back then, it was such a different time for song writers. IMO -The creativity hasn't really changed for today's musicians, I think they are just as creative, it's just that the older bands had to pull magic out of thin air, or else nothing was going to happen. The musicians/writers of today are not challenged to be as creative because of the access of technology. Hit a button and a loop starts, if they don't want to make it unique, they might think, "why change it"? Edited to say: I checked out House with no name, it was awesome! Thank for recommending it. Much love to you and the channel.
I would love you to react to 'Cathedral - Crosby Stills and Nash'. The lyrics are unbelievable good. For me, one of the best 10 Songs ever made, especially because of the lyrics.
My brother gave me this album for Christmas 1 year. It was my favorite album at the time. Probably more because he gave it to me but I really really like america
Michael Jackson was known to rip off other artists work and put a twist on it. This is one of America’s best known hit single though they have other good ones that you have yet to react to!
It is certainly no crime to remake or sample a past song. But it seems to be so common now that it substitutes for actual songwriting and creativity. In film, TV, and music, we seem to have fall into a revisionist era.
I just believe that for some reason the songwriters of more recent times have a harder time tapping deep into their souls and hearts. It could be a product of mass mechanization and the computer age replacing humanity. I don't know.
@@bearballin Sounds right. When I was going to school, taking music or band wasn't compulsory, but it was really encouraged. Our concert band wasn't that hot, but our stage band, which I was also in, sounded pretty good.
Borrowing and referencing music from prior times has been going on forever and ever, and it always will. Technology has shaped it all along and technology changes, even more rapidly today than ever before. Therefore the way that people reference prior music and culture changes right along with it. To me, the creativity factor never changes from generation to generation, it just takes different forms.
It's about a heroin trip. One summer in the 80s at 32n'e street naval base open park area they gave a FREE concert to anyone who could get on base. Awesome show This song is 50+ years old. HB

Unfortunately we did not have that album back in the 70’s. We had it in 8 track baby! 😉 😂 I remember it well. 😂👍👍👍👍
Ventura Highway was always my favorite lol.
I love all the early 70's tunes. Jr high years for me

I'm 69 and I miss Michael too! I love this song too!
Please listen to Ventura Highway by America. Or Sister Golden Hair. All big hits for them. Good times and great memories!
We sang the song over and over again, you have to, you can't help it when I was about 15 😊. We loved It.
In folk music, singers would take old folk songs and redo them to fit the new times. Maybe this was a continuation of that tradition.
This song was released in 1971 in the UK and in 1972 in the USA.

The new generation....yes to all of the above!
More America out there for you to listen to.
Wow! I didn’t know that about MJ. Janet Jackson ALSO sampled America! Ventura Highway! That’s wild!
America is iconic!
Dan Vasc covered MJ's Smooth Criminal. It's a fun one!

Happy New Year
The Horse is a vehicle riding out in the desert
You made me find out who came up with this song first 😀 America in 1972, Michael Jackson 30 years after them.

Ozzy - "Never Know Why" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

BUT WHEN YOU HEAR THE ORIGINALLLL ACE, IT BLOWS YOUR MIND😮, I SEE THAT ALLLLLL THE TIME WITH YOUNGER REACTORS💯😊
Next time you listen, pay attention to the rhythm. It's literally the cadence of a walking horse.
You can talk MJ all day with me. Lol. I forgot about this song. Not my favorite but i do love the " la la las."
I think it's often in honor of the song they cover. The Beastie Boys sampled heavily and it was sometimes convenience but mostly in honor I believe.

You do know, that's exactly why. Plus you have musicians and producers who never studied music theory and music composition.

It's fine to use Great songs to remake new ones. 😊 What a banger of a song 🔥

Music today sucks. Period.
Instead of La La's Michael should have used his patented Hee Hee's..
This is obviously not a "sample". Michael Jackson had permission and used the music but he created his own lyrics and of course renamed the song.

Yes, it’s lazy.
Got a bit derailed, don't you think? Between Michael and La La comparatives (cupled with a belch) it was time to move on.
Adios.
