Unfortunately, I had a stroke and lost mobility on my right side, which had been my strongest and dominant side all my life. My therapist recently told me that they were going to try a new therapy that I would enjoy, and when she said, "Garding in small spaces and house plant potting. " I couldn't have been happier. Thanks for keeping me company while I was in the hospital. And, continuing to give me hope that I will one day be able to grow my own foods and cook in my kitchen again. GOD BLESS YOU ❤
Continued progress in PT. 😊
Aw thanks for sharing your story with me. I will pray for a quick recovery!
There is nothing better and healing than getting your hands dirty! Sending prayers for your recovery. God bless you, Debbie Lavigne 😊
Prayers the Lord blesses you with a full recovery ❤
Fellow stroke survivor here. Got use of my hand and fingers from prepping food and cooking. I know how you feel. We got this!!!!!😊😊😊😊
I love it when your mom and dad help in the garden! Such a lovely family ❤
Me too! They are amazing and I hope to be like them when I grow up :)
So do I. I lost my Dad when I was 28 and was devastated. He was my buddy and helped me in my garden.

I’m sorry for your loss. ❤🙏🏻
Becky, Your father reminded me of a young kid with a new toy. The twinkle in his eyes and the smile on his face while showing the clam digger was priceless. 😃😃😃
I absolutely love how Josh is so supportive of all of Becky's efforts. They are a great team! I have been enjoying seeing them on camera together with some of their projects lately. What a lovely couple!
SERIOUSLY I JUST LOVE YOUR MOM AND DAD !!!! GOD BLESSED YOU WELL
If you number your beds it will be easier to keep track of each year. This will help to know where to rotate your crops. Metal house number on each corner
I made my first plant sale today ❤🎉 $12 has never felt so good. I sold my Cherokee purple sprouts and striped roma sprouts. Up potted twice so the root system should be strong and their bounty should be plentiful. Being a single mom is finally looking brighter and thank you for all these videos making me feel capable of things I never dreamed possible
You go girl!
This is amazing! It is proof of concept! I am so excited for you!
Oh, so sweet! 😊
I know girl. I planted my very first garden this year. It's all thanks to Becky.
Same Becky
Becky just an idea the next time you plant potatoes. I am 80 years old and my dad taught me to cut the seed potatoes where they will have 2 eyes(not plant potatoes whole), you won’t need as many potatoes and it will save you money. Also I am sure it was fun to have the clam digger, but dad just made a long trench 4 inches deep and planted the potatoes 12 inches apart(no digging individual holes) and that is how I plant my potatoes to this day. God bless your wonderful parents and Josh for helping in the garden.
I was going to suggest chitting the potatoes as well. Need to leave the cuts to 'heal' for a bit before planting, though, so they don't rot.
I agree that’s how my dad planted potatoes!
I was about to say the same
That digger was more trouble than it ws worth, a trench would be much easier, didn't seem comfortable for Dad's back either. Anyway why have your parents work in the cold rain, I am their age and would have said I will help but not in this weather, no planting is that important surely.
I use to plant them whole. I have now planted them the way you mentioned. Excited to see the results
I saw someone put a bowl of beer in their raised bed and the slugs are drawn to it. Worked like a dream.
It works and you can use cheap beer. They aren't picky.
My husband is a big beer drinker. And he would pour all his done cans in a big glass jar keep in fridge and when it was full he'd dump in a certain part of our yard kept them at bay. While working the soil.
The beer works great in a pie tin. Until they are all gone carry a pail with salt water with you and just drop them in and put the beer out for the ones left over. Good luck!
That's what we do in Texas, along the perimeter of the house to keep them away
Mine are so big they stretch the front of their bodies in there, enjoy the open bar, and back their butts back out. I’ve watched it. 🤪
Who thinks Becky needs a garden wagon? LOL ❤
l might just need to break down and get one this year
@@AcreHomesteadI thought you had one at your last house?
Nope :)
I finally bought one. Game changer. Love it.
I thought they bought a side by side a couple years ago???
Way to Go Dad!!!! Best Idea for planting potatoes with a clam digger! Genius our friend! Just love when your loving parents come to help! You are all so Blessed! Thank you Josh!!!
give the slugs to your chickens! They love em!
And you know they are organic slugs. 😀
I was yelling give em to the chickens! Lol
I think I’m capable of climbing in the Himalayas at 73, needing 2 years for getting ready! Most people would say no way, I always think the impossible❤🦋🙏🏻
Suggestion, use a permanent marker and mark measurements on side of clam digger, so you can see depth and not have to guess.
Great suggestion! I always forget to do simple things like that, and it can be such a help!
You know you live in the Pacific Northwest when you do things like this in rain or shine 😂😂!
Yes and without and umbrella lol
Try living in Scotland 😂we can literally have 4 seasons in 1 days
Or in Manchester UK, it's either raining or raining heavily l😂
In fact it was 70 degrees here in the North of England 2 hours ago .....now it's hailstones. I don't understand our weather 😂
To the West of Washington lies the Pacific Ocean for those that don't know 😂😂
At least they had the good sense to come in after a heavy downpour to take hot showers and a change of clothes 🍈💯
I know I've said it before, but have to say it again, you are so BLESSED to have parents who are healthy and enjoy helping you❤❤❤. I love the potato digger your dad gifted you, and the trellis Josh put up for you.
Becky's literally the only one I get giddy seeing on my subscription timeline! 🎉 Thank you, Becky, for making space in your life for us and welcoming us so sweetly ❤ You make me strive to build a better life for myself and my family 🤗
Same. I look forward to the notifications 🎉
Wow thanks for your kind words
I agree! I also look foward to the veggie boys and a stable life. The veggie boys recommended by Becky & a stable life recommended by Andrew from the veggie boys. I learn so much watching these videos. Wholesome, hardworking people whom I highly admire and love❤
Becky inspires me to cook more from scratch. Most of my cooking now is from scratch.
I love the 'All hands on deck' attitude from your parents and Josh. Everyone worked so hard and there's nothing quite so satisfying as a warm shower, clean dry clothes and some good food after working out in the rain. You will all sleep well tonight lol. I love watching you grow and harvest your food, I don't have a green thumb at all but I love to watch yours lol.
How blessed you are to have a mom and dad and a husband to help you!
Those slugs will crawl right back - I'm usually all for being nice to the wildlife but you gotta collect them in a bag/jar and throw that in the trash otherwise you'll just collect the same slugs next week
Loved this ! You have the best parents, so pleasant and helpful ! But, then again, THEY have the best daughter too ! :) Thanks for today!
Thank you so much!
Glory in your spirit. So nice to see a family working happily together. Great potato digger idea!
One thing I learned while working in a kitchen is, I wear small, form fitting latex gloves under my garden gloves when I'm working with anything that can get them wet. It keeps your hands dry and much warmer. You can wear them over your garden gloves as well. It's a little overkill, but your hands won't be cold and wet while playing g in the garden.
You can soak the cluster of onion starts in a pot of water for about 10-20 minutes before starting to separate them. The dirt just melts away which makes separating each start easier. 😊
Chickens will eat the slugs. The floor in your grow room you could just paint i know you were talking about flooring but with watering you spill some water. Love watching you work with your parents. There is nothing like family. Thank you for taking us with you on your planting journey.
Your parents are amazing. I can’t even imagine having a family like yours. Thank you for bringing us along.
Becky you and your family are such a sweet treasure! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives❤
Becky yeeting the slugs over the fence was great 😂
I cracked up when she did it!
I would have done the same too.
Just love your parents! I am helping my daughter this weekend. Family is everything.
I do too! I hope to be like them when I grow up!
@@AcreHomestead/ you will be too.
BEST PARENTS AWARD!
Love watching your parents helping you. My parents always came and helped us with projects and now I am blessed to be able to help my children with projects. ❤️❤️❤️
How blessed to have your parents helping. They are so precious!
You can cut seed potatoes in order to increase the volume. Just make sure each piece has at least 2 eyes.
Hi Becky, so much was accomplished in the garden. Josh is a treasure. ❣️ I love how he and your parents are so supportive of you. 🤗
Wow. 500 views in 4 mins. Go Becky Go! I love it!
Aw thanks so much for your support!
I know I could never have a garden like this cause two minutes in the cold rain and I would be done 😂
Love when we are in your garden. But then again I love it when we are in your kitchen cooking also! Just love watching you!! ❤❤❤
Love videos with your parents. They’re adorable!
Its good to see your parents again. What a blessing your parents are to come over and give a helping hand so much to you! Cherish them while you can!
You are so so blessed to have a village!
As that's what it takes to make life easier for all. Josh & your parents are just wonderful humans! Obviously, you are too. I will keep praying for you all! God bless!
My parents are the same, they help me or rather, do the gardening in my garden. A blessing i am so grateful for
When are we going to see the little guy out helping you in the garden? Who watches him when you all are out in the garden? Lots of progress done today and your parents are so sweet and helpful, you are truly blessed with a beautiful family.
I was wondering the same thing. Would be cute to see him todderling about the garden, Should be walking by now right?
She doesn't want to share him online. She has a nanny. People are so invasive. He's a child who can't consent to being online.
Your parents are godsends. What a blessing to be able to share this day of planting with them!
After watching your garden journey for over 2 years now, i decided that this year is the year i want to try and garden myself. I was a little scared to be honest but you know what.. if i don't try, i will grow nothing. Hopefully in 2024 i will be able to harvest something i grew myself. Thats te goal!
It warms my heart seeing your parents and Josh tag teaming the garden chores. with you. ❤
You are so blessed to have such wonderful parents!!
Your Mom making sure to bury the worm. She's so cute!❤ And your dad was so clever finding the tool to save his back! I love your folks so much, lovely people.
I cant help myself but to smile and wave each time i ser your folks!!
Happy planting!!!!
Aw same! They are such a blessing! I hope to be like them when I grow up!
😂 the clam digger is brilliant 😂 your dad loves it 😂❤
It was so cute how excited your dad was about his clam digger! 😆
I’m so impressed that your parents are helping! They’re the best! My mom didn’t like to sweat……YOU ARE BLESSED!!! I can’t wait to see your garden flourishing! It’s going to be EPIC!!!! I have 2 GreenStalks……enjoy all of your blessings!!!❤❤❤
It's so much fun to see everyone having fun together, and planting a grocery store!
I learned from Martha Steward that the best time to plant is when it rains. So I always wait for a rainy day to plant.
I hope to be as amazing as they are one day :)
@@AcreHomestead I believe you're already there!!
@@AcreHomestead I don't know how to comment in the proper place but my Daddy grew a huge vegetable garden and he always direct planted peanuts (none of the transplanting peanuts)
Your mom is the best. So cute!!!
Your folks remind me of mine (rest their souls) they were always so supportive of me and a bonus was they were super fun people!
Congrats on the newest addition to your fam!
It's so nice seeing Becky in the garden planting again. It's so nice seeing Becky's parents in the garden with her once again❤❤👍 your dad is so excited for his new planting tool❤ it's so refreshing to see Josh also working in the garden👍
Clever Dad tools are the best 🎉
Hi Becky, It is so lovely to see your mom and dad helping you planting. So much family love 🥰
I use the square door gardening method (I only have a 4’x4’ bed) and it’s so amazing how much you can plant in a small space :)
Maybe a post hole digger would be a good potato tool as well? Your family and you are such a joy to watch
I was thinking the same thing and actually think it’d work even better.
I just saw your Rhubarb on your way put to your raised beds.
I've tried growing Rhubarb years ago to no avail. Two years ago an Amish lady told me where to plant it and not only has it came back two years in a row, but it is beautiful and huge.
I wish I could include a picture of my Rhubarb.
Happy potatoes planting today.
Next year if you haven't been getting rain before you plant potatoes, use your irrigation system to water the bed you decide to use.
Family gardening time absolutely precious ❤
Becky…you are living your best life and I love it as much as you do. X
Becky I write on my seed packet bow many seeds per square foot. But you can also write it down in your spreadsheet by adding an additional column.
Good tip!
Becky, Your Mom and Dad are the sweetest people. They help you in such a loving way. I just love to see them in your videos, Josh too!!!! I'm sure you appreciate whenever they help, because you are so sweet like they're. Enjoy your day 😊😊
I feel like you needed to rake all the fertilizer into the soil. It's just sitting on the top.
Hi Becky! And all the early birds! Wishing you all a lovely week from Eastern Canada. Clam digging is very popular here. I use my feet to feel for them in the sand. But I don't recommend that technique for the novice clamer lol.
Thank you! You too!
I really loved today's video. I'm a fan of your mom's rain hat 🤠 😂
The garden is looking awesome. I really really enjoy your plant related videos. ❤❤
Love seeing you with the parents and hubby! What troopers to work in the rain!
Becky don’t forget your yard truck, you can drive all the soil down! Garden is looking AMAZING
Exciting to watch y’all all working in your garden. All your family show amazing servants hearts. ❤
I’m so jealous since I don’t have the space for any kind of real gardening. I’m just getting some herbs and flowers going in my pots in my tiny patio. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you! ❤
Cynthia-- praying for your recovery. I had a stroke& every little bit of exercise & movement helps. I can garden again!!!. Becky, your dads idea to plant tators is fantastic. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon😮I 😮
Oooh can’t wait to see the fun colored cauliflowers! That’ll be fun haha
So sweet that your parents came and helped 💚
I just love your parents. They are so innovative and fun! Who would have ever considered using a clam digger for potatoes? Love it!
Your parents are adorable - love them! You are a lucky girl!
Love your parents. Your dad is so funny with that clam digger. Is great that you have such a great relationship with your parents. Love and cherish them well.
give the slugs to the chickens. I keep forgetting to plant cilantro.
I am so excited to see you and your fiolks planting together.
I can't wait to see you direct seed the carrots and plant the cabbage, cauliflowers, & broccoli.
Josh's trellisses look great. Your dad's tool is amazing!
Yes, we can hear Josh! Great mom & dad Becky! I love them 💗 God bless you all and ☦️ many prayers 🙏🏻 ❤️ Nurse Judi in Scottsdale and E Minister 🙏🏻 ♥️ 💖 💙 💕
Wow, Becky you make gardening look like so much fun, LOL! I am a veggie gardener also and sometimes you persevere and other days you give in for another day. Your parents are amazing people.
I love seeing how your family comes and helps in your garden, it very heartwarming.❤
Hi Becky! Have a wonderful day and thank you for keeping hope in my heart. You’ll never know how much it means to me to watch your videos. My late sister would have adored you, and I am so grateful you stream. You’ve truly helped my heart start to heal.
You are so welcome! Thanks for your kind words :) It's an honor to be a part of your life
Please pass on love from my family to yours!
Well i fell in love with the garden stalk so my birthday present is TWO of them and I feel so blessed. I feel so thankful that i found you on UA-cam. I watch it every day. Have a blessed day my friend !!!!!
Idea- 1 person use the clam digger, a second person puts the potato in the hole, then empty the dirt back into the hole on top of the potato instead of emptying it onto where you are going to put the next hole.
You and your family are amazing gardeners. I would love to see your parent’s garden.
The perfect tool. A clam digger. Double usage for clams and potatoe planting. Love ❤️ it
I saw on another channel where she uses copper tape on the top edges of her beds. It prevents slugs . They won’t go over the copper tape.
What fun your sweet parents are!!!! Jean Colorado USA
I plant with my Daddy too. My Momma was the one to can it all up, but we lost her in 2015. One of our therapies was learning how to can the 2015 harvest. We have done it ever since. My Daddy is 82 now and I know, if things go like the universe plans, then I'll be doing it by myself one day...I am learning ALL I can from his knowledge.
@karmenmiles Sorry for your loss. Maybe you can teach someone in the younger generation how rewarding gardening is? And canning, too. Then you won’t need to do it alone when Dad passes.
You have the garden of my dreams!! I love that your family also helps as willingly as they do. I am making my first raised bed this year 🤞🏻🤞🏻. You are an inspiration!
You're parents are sooo amazing, you're so lucky to have them ❤ they're just so wholesome and just good people!
Aw thanks! I hope to be like them one day :)
Always good seeing Mom and Dad!!🥰
Love the clam...aka potato digger!! Brilliant!! Good job Dad!!!
I got the seeding square last year and it is so helpful in small gardens! I put my leeks in the garden today and did a direct sow on my celery. This weekend,
I'm gonna put my zucchini and acorn squash in my garden,
How blessed you are to have fit active mum and dad that are such a great help They are so cute too. Love from Australia
My mom loved gardening. We lost my mom in 2015. She wanted to have some tomatoes and cucumbers. We had started building her a couple of raised beds. But she was in an accident that took her life. Seeing your mom and dad helping reminds me our my parents worked side by side in a garden. You and your parents are inspirational.
Been watching you all morning. Glad to see you and your parents!!
I never started flowers inside. My gardens were huge, crazy, wild and beautiful! Toss those zinnia seeds on the soil. They will grow like crazy!
