The haircut thing drives me nuts, even though I go like 5 times per year. I've gotten into the habit of creating a new identity (name, address, email, phone number) every time I go in. It's all a bit of a tradeoff and what you're willing to share for what you get. A couple of points: - For me it wouldn't matter what phone OS I use as I run propitiatory apps for works so it has to be either iOS or Android with Google Playstore - At least with Android, un-used apps get privileges taken away after a certain time period - I can't see how having Bluetooth connectivity constantly on allows data harvesting as you generally have to input a code to connect to another unknown device for the first time? - I like free cheeseburgers from the maccas app, but hate their order machines as they're constantly out of paper 😂🤣
Part of it is the bluetooth ID of your phone can be tracked possible even to the point they know which places in the store you stop to look at something on a shelf etc. They can also connect the bluetooth ID with your phone number from other places and accounts etc etc🤬
@@michaelcummings7246 Ok, they might be able to see your BT ID, however again, they'd need to enter a pairing code to be able to connect with your device. Maybe it's something to do with how your BT is setup?

I am not an expert on data privacy, but I am glad to hear that what I have been doing was the correct thing. As a rule of thumb: whatever the platforms WANT ME TO DO, I do the opposite. So if they keep nagging me to install the app, I don't. I go to youtube or fakebook via a browser. I have more control over ads and everything, so yeah. And I also tend to switch off the bluetooth or wifi when I am not actively using them. Just today I found out the DPD was sending me messages which I was not receiving (yesterday), until I turned my mobile data on. I don't know, are SMS too expensive? How does it differ whether I receive a message with wifi/data or SMS?
@OklopnikSilni right, I hear ya. Just what's the point sending messages people don't receive? LOL. Yeah, majority have all their data turned on all the time and complain the battery doesn't last for a week like in the past. And some get hacked on top of that.
