The Hudson Valley in the summer is absolutely beautifu; it's lush, green with mountains, which lends to some of the most spectacular vistas. The hiking is abundant, too.
I love how you guys present your sponsorships. Usually it's the part of a video I just skip with other youtubers, but you guys make it so funny and entertaining! Your creativity is on point.
From the Beaches and Warm sun of Miami to the snow in Hudson Valley. Truly and Endless Adventure. The wildlife out there and of course that cool tiny home was pretty cool. That toilet bowl seemed like an ANGRY monster!
If you ever get a chance to see a copy of Monica Randell's book Phantoms of the Hudson Valley, check it out. It's about the many abandoned mansions in the Hudson River Valley. You saw one on that little island but, it is by no means the only one. Maybe you could check some of them out in the future. You probably won't be able to go inside them but, it would be cool to document them before they completely crumble to dust. As a West-Coaster, the Hudson Valley seems a magical place to me. Glad you brought us along.
The lower Hudson Valley is NOT Upstate! It's just considered "up the river from NYC". Upstate is waaaay north of Cold Spring, generally once you get to Columbia, Greene, and Delaware counties. Where you guys were staying and visiting is really just considered to be a pleasant day trip on Metro North from NYC. Most of us that live in the city are super familiar with the areas you visited, and they are so much fun year around!
Pamela Masters I agree with Pamela Masters. I’m a native New Yorker. I was born on Long Island and now live in the foothills of the Adirondacks. The Hudson Valley is NOT considered Upstate NY. I lived in Rhinebeck, Red Hook, and Millbrook. The CIA is in Hyde Park, NY which is just north of the city of Poughkeepsie. They were all beautiful places, but they are not “upstate”. They are about and hour and a half south of Albany (which is where “Upstate” begins. There are rolling hills there, but definitely no mountains. The mountains start about 3 hours north of the Hudson Valley. Regardless, the area is beautiful. I’d move back there in a blink if I could. I’m glad you enjoyed Part of our beautiful state. If you really want to see some scenery, go visit the High Peaks area of the Adirondacks. It’s stunning.
Y'all sound like Michiganders debating where "up north" begins. For the record, our Upper Peninsula is not up north. It is simply the UP. Also for the record, up north is anywhere between Mt. Pleasant and the Mackinac Bridge. According to me, at least. hehe
When we lived in NYC we used to take long weekends in the Hudson Valley all the time in all seasons. Two more small towns I would suggest visiting the next time you are in NYS_ Cooperstown and Corning. Both quaint towns with major attractions. Cooperstown the Baseball Hall of fame and many other attractions and corning hast the Glassworks factory and museum. both great day trips.
I grew up in the Hudson Valley but never really appreciated it and couldn’t wait to leave....now I find every excuse to go back - thank you for featuring it in your amazing travels! 💕
So I found you searching for Istanbul ideas and we ended up trying the cafe you enjoyed breakfast at numerous times! And today I’m looking for something to do tomorrow near our house and I stumble across you again. How wild we took your Istanbul recommendation and now one I’m our own backyard?! ❤️
We used to go up there in the winter with our plastic sleds to find the best places to slide down. Then afterwards drive around and find amazing diners with hot soup. Love upstate NY.❤️
The Hudson Valley is beautiful--as is so much of New York State. Too bad you couldn't have passed through in summer or even fall. You miss a lot of the beauty of the area by visiting in winter when trees are bare and the ground is covered with snow. But it's nice to go along on your journey anyway, and it looks like you enjoyed it--and that's the important thing.
My partner Christelle from the USA said that the first castle she ever saw was in the UK a few weeks ago with me, at least we now know that there is at least 1 castle in USA, even if a ruin....
Always wondered where Angry Orchard was made. I did not know the Hudson Valley had so many places to visit. Thanks for showing the nice tribute to Anthony Bourdain. Boy, that Tiny House was sure sunny and bright!
Great video, I lived in the mid-Hudson Valley for 13 years. It is absolutely gorgeous up there and I miss parts of it. When you get to Rochester make sure you hunt down a local food favorite called "The Garbage Plate", there are several restaurants that serve it so it shouldn't be hard to find.
Next time you get near upstate NY you have to go to the Lake George area. I would suggest before the summer season begins. The area is really nice too, Glen Falls, Saratoga.
Love that tiny house! I'm excited to see Rochester! I hope you made it to Jines and the Dinosaur BBQ. I live south east of Rochester, in the Finger Lakes Region. Great place to visit in the summer for water activities or the fall for wine. So many breweries and fun places to visit. If you haven't been to FLX before, consider it! Another great area to visit is the northern part of NY. The Ausable Chasm and Natural Stones Bridges and Cave are awesome - stay at the Pine Tree Motel & Cabins (the cabins are adorable) and eat at the Black Bear Cafe - classic Adirondack vacay. I'd be happy to share some great places on the FLX too if you come back this way.
Rained the day we hit the CIA as well. Had snacks in the cafe/coffee shop and it was delish! Didn't know about the Tavern, maybe next time! Love tagging along on your adventures!
Awwwwww...y'all should stop and check out the finger lakes area sometime...lots of hiking, beautiful waterfalls and amazing wineries!!! (Watkins Glen is the best!!)
Nice aerial shot of Bannerman Castle. Took a tour out there in the Fall and it was great. The Hudson Highlands is a great place and you picked one of the nicer towns (Cold Spring). Too bad you did not get a chance to explore more. There is actually an historic park in Cold Spring called the West Point Foundry complete with the ruins of an early 19th century iron works factory that made canons used in the civil war. Oh well, next time!
Great video! Great views! All that food looked very yummy; especially the burger! I'm glad I can stay in the warm whilst you get to explore the cold - what a wonderful service you both provide! ;)
I’m sure I’ve definitely tried that brand of cider before in the UK and it’s amazing! So I agree with Eric’s happy face 😂 I love the winter and snow adventures you’re having and the food looks amazing and unlike any other! I need a good burger, something different from all the Christmas food I’ve eaten recently! The toilet also made me laugh! Never in my life have I saw that 😂😂 can’t wait for your next video!
I can't believe you were in my hometown of Hyde Park!! Fun fact the Culinary used to be a monastery. St. Andrews on the Hudson. Have fun in the rest of NY
This is so crazy, I was watching this video and I was like I have seen this tiny house before. Another UA-cam family I watch stayed there before. The Frey Life stayed there and did a tour of it back in May of 2018. That was so funny that I happened to see your video on staying in a tiny house! Hope you enjoyed your stay as much as they did?!
That's so cool, you guys are planning on visiting Rochester. Would be awesome if we bump into each other. There are lots of cool restaurants/bars like Tapas 177, Gate House, Trata, Red Fern(Vegan) and NOX cocktail lounge(great cocktails), Daily refresher (they have great whiskies)
I know! It’s awesome that they’re coming to Rochester! Love the recommendations @chethana ! I would recommend those too! Along with Iron Smoke Distillery!
First of all, love you guys! You are my favorite adventurers! I just gotta know what kind of backpack is your brown leather one, Allison? I've been looking all over for one and I saw yours and it was like Angel's started singing and now I have to have that one! I love it!
I love you guys anyways but... This is the most excited I've seen you in months. I wanted to be there. I'm so jealous of the food and antics haha. Hee. Keep having fun guys. Best wishes from OZ.
Another great episode, I've noticed you use your cutlery like we do in Europe rather than the awkward 'swapping hands' method that Americans seem to favour, do you think you have changed much because of your travels in other ways too?
Love watching your show we can take a trip and never leave the farm so to speak. Hey if near Syracuse you guys should try out The Hercules Candy Company, I watch them on UA-cam and they are a hoot. They allow ya in to watch them make the chocolates/ribbon candy/peanut brittle etc. I'm too far away and old lol to make the trip but it's just a suggestion.
OMG I live in the Hudson Valley. The Culinary Institute OF AMERICA is in Hyde Park, NY along with some historical sites such as Vanderbilt Mansion and President Roosevelts house a little bit north from the Culinary. I love Cold Spring such a cute town and their is a restaurant there that I went to a lot and have the best burgers amongst other yummy food. I can't believe I can't think of the name. Also , if you ever get back to the Hudson Valley visit the cute town of Rhinebeck which is about 20 miutes more north of the culinary on Rout 9. The Dutchess County Fair comes there towards the end of August, of course due to the virus it was closed for 2020 and don't know if it will happen in 2021. I wish I had know about your channel when you came here. Come bac again sometime.
I have a nice fully well supplied 35 ft 5th wheel camper I spend alot if summertime in.tiny home living is fun..lots storage an you weed out what you really dont need.alrhough I have full plumbing on my site not a toilet like that.where does it go?

I meant upstate

Hudson Valley New York Is a Winter Wonderland.
Finger Lakes!!! Hike Watkins Glen. Wineries. Hike Buttermilk in Ithaca. Taughannock Falls. So gorgeous!
Glad you came to the Hudson Valley. I live right around where you were and it is a beautiful area of NY.
Honestly, the room high windows make it feel 3x larger , it's amazing!
Nice, I live in the Hudson Valley! Beautiful place!
"job's a good'n" .. never heard it before but immediately picked up what you put down AND had a chuckle! love this channel!
A quick jaunt up breakneck would have gotten you warm. Some of the most tranquil views of the river valley.

Love Hudson Valley...thanks so much!
We’re in an Airbnb in High Falls our old neighborhood. Thanks for coming to our neck of the world. We’re tucked in bed with the wood stove crankin.

The eggsplotion was so satisfying
Happy Holidays Eric and Allison. I have enjoyed your travel vlogs for a year now.
note to the world, there are countless more things to see and do in NY than just NYC.
i like the little glass house but i wouldn't fancy using that toilet

I love Cold Spring - live in Connecticut, so not far distant. Hike in the area. CIA wonderful! The tours are so interesting.

Definitely weirdest toilet ever 🤭 i mean what happened if it's overloaded then when it starts to spin, it went outside the bowl 😂
The weight of your deposit makes the foil stuff go down so no worries about spillage. Well, unless one has abnormally large deposits. LOL
