Matera is not underrated, it's the 2019 european capital of culture, this brought there a lot of tourists and people generally appreciate the city :). Actually as an apulian I think Matera is a bit overrated but it's just my opinion. I prefer cities like Alberobello, Ostuni and Lecce to make 3 typicall examples
In high school I got to go on a school trip to Italy, and we did Assisi, Florence, and Rome. Though I loved both Florence and Rome, Assisi captured my heart completely, because it’s just this gorgeous medieval town in the hills. Great video!
I spent a month in Italy and researched for six months prior. How did I never hear of Matera??? Stunning! And THANK YOU for leaving your little bloops and funny bits in your vlog. Not only are those moments entertaining but they make you guys all the more relatable.
Love these videos guys especially the Venice and Rome. My wife and i had our honeymoon there in September this year. Brought back lovely memories. You guys ate your croissants in the same cafe in Venice as us just up from our hotel. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Scotland😊😊🏴
Matera and the city of Lecce were my wife and I's favorite cities in southern Italy. I am so glad to see that you got down there to visit. Any way, we both love watching your videos.
The video is perfect. The music, just as great. Because of it, Matera has made it to my bucket list. You guys keep it natural and funny. Never a dull moment 😊
Anja Lukner when we were in Italy 2 years ago, we drove from Tuscany to Croatia, so we drove through Slovenia. It was so beautiful. We hope to visit someday & spend some time there.
I've been absolutely in love with Italy and your experiences there. As far as I am concerned, you guys should just stay in Italy until it's time to head home for Christmas. there is just SO MUCH of Italy that is breathtakingly beautiful, like this town. I would dearly LOVE to see the ruins @ Pompeii!
We fell in love with many cities and towns. I'd suggest Spello and Orvieto in Umbria (I didn't double-check to see if you've already been). Also Sulmona in Abruzzo. Guardiagrele has amazing cheese balls.
My beautiful daughter took me to Italia this April for my 61st birthday. We first went to Roma then Positano we ended our stay in Napoli. I have to say Positano is absolutely gorgeous. Honestly even with the touristy aspect of it ROME is my favorite. The food was amazing there’s so much history and beauty there. You must go see ROME. Thank you for sharing your travels.
Great video guys. My wife and I were in Italy back in September. We loved staying in the hill towns in Tuscany/Umbria region (Montisi and Civita di Bagnoregio).
Lived there for three years. Didn't make it south, but feel in love with Sirmione, Italy. A small town that was near our home. Riding the ferry around Lake Garda was so beautiful.
Ahhhh I’m so excited to watch your next video!!! I’ve booked a secret trip next year for my family and I to stay in a Trullo house in Alberobello 😃 Just this week I’ve been looking what places of interest to visit around the area and Matera came up, I really can’t wait to go now after watching this. Take care x
We are traveling to Matera with EF Tours summer 2022 and this is one of the stops I’m most excited about after seeing your video. Thank you so much for sharing!
Great video. I’m from southern Italy heritage, if you are on your way to Sicily, my recommendation is Caulonia. Don’t plan for hours but if you need a quick break, it’s beautiful. 👍
I am new to your channel. I am 54 years old. If I followed my heart and ate like this, I would be 400 lbs. Enjoy being young you guys. I am actually thinish but I would not be if I didn't just eat veg. Have fun. What a great adventure!
Loved the intro music. Walking around cities and towns trying to get lost was my favourite thing to do when I was in Europe. Matera is now on my bucket list. Thank you for taking us along
I went to Matera in 2017 August. It is one of the most beautiful city I have seen. Good choice for trip. And love your traveling videos. ☺️❤️ By the way I like video about the time when you visited my country Latvia. 🥰
I can't wait to watch your Sicily videos! It's one of my favorite places! I especially loved Ragusa, and Taoromina. Bam Bar in Taoromina has amazing granita and brioche.
Great video! What an interesting city! The food looked great! That dog barking was way YIKES! So many lols in this episode too. PS Sorry I missed all but the last couple of minutes of your last live chat; seeing parents and podcasting all day today! I'll be there next time! :)
In the 17th and 18th centuries, pastry was made by noon. Still today in some southern cities of Italy you can buy pastries from ancient convent. It's a tradition that Spain left when they ruled those regions. Ciao da Bologna 😉
Merry Christmas you guys. Found your vids a couple of months ago ago and you are super professional yet give something of yourselves which makes me appreciate you even more. Merry Christmas and happy travels. Ian x ps looking forward to what 2020 brings.
Love your avant garde approach. Go to Lucca just east of Pisa. You've whetted my appetite for Matera. Now subscribing (as well as Nate & Kara and Simon Wilson) and following you world travellers!
I stayed in Italy for two weeks this summer in the town of Amelia! The surrounding towns are BEAUTIFUL and so few tourists but my favourite was Perugia. As much as I love the smaller towns, I always look for livability and Perugia, although it has the feel of small village old Italy, is somewhere I could see myself living.
I had a really nice trip to Naples about twenty years fifteen years ago and visited Vesuvius, Pompey and Herculaneum which are really phenomenal. I drove down the coast to Amalfi and also Paestum which has three famous Greek temples that are really stunning. Paestum was a Greek town and religious centre in Southern Italy and the Amalfi coast is very famous. I did not get to Metera which is a shame but you have reminded me that I should visit. Thanks as always for another wonderful video.
Hi! Were you guys there before the flooding then? We are in Bari for a few months and wanted to go visit this week, but heard it was still a mess from flooding in November. Thanks!
Great footage of Matera! Whilst you are in Alberobelo, make sure you go to Polignano A Mare...on the sea just 3k away..Amazing cliffs and a sick historic center.
We are lucky enough to have visited Italy twice but I’m embarrassed to say we have never hear of Matera. We absolutely love history so will definitely pop this on this list for next time! Great video BTW. 😊
The bread, Altamura, was credited by Horace as the best in the world, nourishing the Roman legions before long campaigns. I can't wait to try some there, but until then, I'll be VERY happy with the schiacciata in Toscano.
You all should try granita and brioche in Sicily for breakfast and arancini for lunch. My wife and I love the cities of Syracuse and Erice. We lived in Sicily for three years and enjoyed it so much.
In the cave homes, animals such horses and donkeys were their unique heating! By the way, you should check out Trieste, in the North East of Italy, right after Venice. If you do, let me know since I can show you around giving you a full free historical tour!
OMG! The new James Bond movie trailer has just been dropped! Matera was featured in the first 20 or 30 sec. I'm happy that you were able to feature this little sleepy town before it will be exposed to tourists/James Bond fans. The town is very beautiful.

“Italy’s most beautiful city.” You could say that about a LOT of places in Italy. Which is why Italy is so awesome.
Went to Italy in April. Loved Florence. I could live in a farmhouse in Tuscany for the rest of my life and be content
Most underrated city in Italy. And still unknown to the most. Definitely worth visiting if ever travelling to the near Puglia Region
It used to be underrated but it's one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy now
In high school I got to go on a school trip to Italy, and we did Assisi, Florence, and Rome. Though I loved both Florence and Rome, Assisi captured my heart completely, because it’s just this gorgeous medieval town in the hills. Great video!

Wow, I had never heard of Matera. Thank you. Love learning something new with your videos.
Italy must be a dream for two foodies. The food in Italy is the real religion, just don't tell the Pope
Indeed The French think they are the best but Italian Peasant food is best
He knows it it's his heritage 😇😇!!
Don't worry, he already knows. On Sunday lots of Italians (especially women) don't attend mass because they are busy preparing Sunday's lunch 😁
In Italy almost nobody cares about the pope.
@@thetemptedvida8650 che vivi ancora nel medioevo te ?
Italy is a wonderland
You have to go and visit the North, in the high mountains cities and villages.
