Hi Members! Here is Part 1 of Kayla. I show you how to measure for your prongs around the stone, how to make the Accordion prong strip using a FLAT NOSE plier, and then how to take it around the gemstone and weave the bale. This is most of it, but I will have more in Part 2 for finishing a gorgeous pendant using this technique.
I am using a Hydro Quartz gemstone (lab grown)... you can use any oval, round or teardrop shape stone cabochon for this wrap. I showed a Star Ruby in your Members post so you could see both a Faceted gemstone as well as a Cabochon.
My stone in this video is 3/4 inch long and 1/2 inch wide.
The wires I'm using to make the accordion prong is 13 inches off 20 gauge, round, soft copper wire. The main frame wire is 14 inches of 18 gauge, round, soft copper wire. The weaving wire is 28 gauge and you can have about 10 feet on-hand in a wire bobbin or main spool. We use about 3 to 4 feet for the bale weave, then we also use another couple of feet per side to tie the back wires up.
