    I think the fortune should have been priced the same as the prospector, they're both industry ships from the same manufacturer built on the same chassis with different beam types.

    In my opinion, with regards to combat, internal cargo or external cargo makes zero difference because you're probably dying either way.

    I've been doing salvage as my main source of income since the Vulture dropped in 3.18. I melted my Vulture to try the Fortune and I have to say I really like it. If I turn on auto eject before I leave my hangar I can salvage 27 SCU without getting out of my seat (12 external, 13 in buffer + 2 printed but not ejected). Having to EVA to put 4 on rear cargo grid is no big deal, it only takes maybe a minute. As for the scraping speed, yes the Fortune is slower but it's not half the speed as most people seem to think. I haven't timed it but after almost 2 years of scraping in my Vulture I think I have a pretty good feel for it. I think it maybe because the Vulture's beams overlap and are competing for the same material and are therefore less efficient. I wish I had of paid more attention to the cSCU/s and the % of material when I had my Vulture. I'm sure some bright spark will figure it out.

      Yeah but I have yet to see a video where people actually space the beams apart to where they slightly overlap on the vulture for a test comparison between the two for a speed comparison.

      It’s 40% slower, and the cross section and emission debuffs are an npc/pirate player magnet, mid fortune.

    Pairing the Fortune with the Polaris has been easier than with the Vulture in my experience. Also hoping the Fortune becomes available for rental to introduce players to salvage gameplay.

    I can land both the Fortune and a Hull A inside the Polaris hangar. I fly out into the black and park the Polaris. I then do salvage run with the Fortune offloading into the Polaris. When I get done, I fly the Polaris withing relative ferry distance and load up the Hull A to ferry the cargo to sell. Can't do that with the Vulture.

    The fortune and great for bunkers, put a empty box on the side for bunker farming, and you can salvage ships left at bunkers. I am only using it to do bunkers

    I love both MISC and Drake aesthetics for different reasons, but the Fortune feels like it cheated the design, it's hollow rather than realistic. So while they're approximately as capable as each other, the Vulture passes the sniff test, and the Fortune feels like a game ship. So I prefer the Vulture purely on design.
    But in addition the Vulture can carry an STV or other small vehicle, and that tips it well over.

    Thank you for telling people to try first! Also bringing up mudding systems is important to help people know they shouldn't buy outright based on the ships as they are now.

    After 10 hours in the ship I am a huge fan of the Fortune over the Vulture. The convenience all the way down to the look just works better for me. I was even doing cargo hauling on the way out to the area to salvage and back and forth which credits was just rolling in. Me and a few friends put two of these in a Polaris and then it really got crazy. Most fun I have had in a while salvaging and thats even when we did a full Reclaimer, it was a better experience than that. CIG is still missing that larger salvager mark you know bigger than these two but smaller than the Reclaimer so when they finally do that we can all revisit BUT. FORTUNE ALL THE WAY FOR ME!

      I use it in a Polaris too - but almost never for salvage really - it just makes a really excellent support ship taking boxes and people to and from the Polaris - particularly around UGFs.

      Was not a fan of the Fortune when it first came out (same price as a Vulture but with one less salvage head) but now prefer the Fortune. It fits easily into a Polaris hangar. It can fit alongside a Prospector in the Polaris for mixed salvage / mining. The Fortune interior is well done - it shows that this is a more recent ship than the Vulture. Fitting an abrade scraper to the Fortune makes a difference to salvage speed. Have used the Fortune for hauling missions; it can hold 4-SCU boxes (8-SCU boxes do not attach / fit).

    Huzzah! Senpais noticed me! Truthfully, I think the vulture would be better solo, and the fortune is definitely for group play. If you get a group of 2 to 3 people, you can have one in a Zeus or C1 something that has a tractor beam that can bring stuff inside and one to two fortunes. Me and my friends tried it with a vulture in the past, and it was such a headache transferring from the vulture to the Taurus. Now, with the fortune, you can just pick it off the side as it auto ejects. It should be amazing for that person in the cargo hauler.

    • @UraiTheSmoke
      @UraiTheSmoke 12 годин тому

      Why was the vulture hard in a group? Can someone come inside the back and got the boxes while the pilot keeps working?

    • @Tybbles
      @Tybbles 10 годин тому

      @UraiTheSmoke sure if the vulture stops what it's doing and doesn't move for a minute here and there, but if it's going hard on salvage, it's going to be moving around alot and doing it only with two people transferring it from the vulture to a cargo ship is not the easiest, which I can attest to. If you get a third person to just sit in the bottom of the vulture slinging boxes out so they can be picked up it would alleviate some of the issues but then there's a possibility of losing cargo if someone's not paying attention. While I don't mind being that third person in the bottom of a vulture I wouldn't consider that riveting gameplay and you're still doing it with two ships when you could be having two fortunes one person in each and a cargo hauler following behind plucking from the sides without stopping. In my opinion, the fortune is the more optimized ship for running with a crew, as long as things are running correctly, of course. God knows if you'll get lucky and have a good server or a ship that doesn't disappear, etc. etc.

  • @schyzwytz
    @schyzwytz День тому

    I think the reason it's such a hard comparison is how similar the ships are - in the best way possible. It really feels like you have a choice when picking your first salvage ship, and it's not just a binary 'better vs worse' choice. I wanna see more ships like this in the game!

  • @nathanstenabaugh1290
    @nathanstenabaugh1290 День тому

    I think the Fortunes advantage will depend on having friends. I think in combo with a friend with a Zeus who can pluck cargo right off the Fortune with its rear cargo tractor beam you’ll see it shine as team gameplay.
    Fortunately I have no friends in game so keeping my vulture makes the most sense. Now if only I could get the windfall paint on it everything would be perfect.

    I love the idea of mobile bases, and right now that means using the Polaris as a base of operations. From what I can see it is possible to fit a vulture in the Polaris, but it is a bit tight and it essentially fills the hangar. From what I've seen, it looks like it should be possible to fit two MISC ships in the hangar: Fortune, Prospector or Hull A. The idea of being able to mix and match these ships to do industrial operations with a group of friends seems like it would be a lot of fun. And unloading a Polaris full of salvage sounds a lot more enjoyable than trying to empty a reclaimer. I like the logistics of getting multiple ships working together, so the fortune seems really exciting, though I am leaning towards buying it in game.

    In my opinion, the main reason to get a Fortune & not a Vulture comes down to:
    Ease of use. MISC aesthetics compared to Drake, i prefer the MISC ones personally, as well as the Auto-eject function / Separated Cargo.
    To me personally the 2 main things that Made me get one are:
    No Ladder that i have to go down every few minutes to .....
    2 Salvage Stations = meaning i can craft 2 things YeY
    And the Auto-Eject function -> all mean that i have to get out of the seat Less.
    All in all it makes for a more enjoyable gameplay. Its like the Mole Solo vs the Prospector Solo mining - The ladder is a deal breaker for most people. I am one of them & i am not ashamed to admit it.
    I would love to see a Size 2 head on the Fortune & since there are 2 salvage stations on it, a larger internal buffer. 1 small Salvage Station = 13 SCU buffer.
    2 Should be 2x13 each - for a total of 26 SCU buffer & a 12 SCU spacing on the outside + the 4 in the cargo -> Then this will make you choose carefully between the 2 ships. There will be actualy Pros & Cons to each ship.
    Even if the salvage head gets a buff - it will still be around 75% of the speed of the 2 salvage Heads on the Vulture.
    Do you want the faster salvaging speeds on the Vulture? & its potential for Munching (if that comes) in the future? The faster speed it has in flight?
    Or do you want the Fortune with its bigger Salvage Buffer & separated cargo and ease of use features?
    Only then do i feel like the Fortune would be worth its money.
    At the moment its just a 100-120$ Ship with what it currently has.

  • @essentialasa
    @essentialasa День тому +1

    If the Fortune had 9 SCU on each side and a 19 SCU buffer I'd choose it over the Vulture because it could carry more in one trip without leaving the seat or ship. It would match the Vulture's off grid performance while still being slower to get there. As is i can fill the Vulture to the brim in the same time or less than it takes to fill the grid and buffer on the Fortune. Add to that the high emissions and i have to ask what the benefit is. It's not even more convenient to unload. They're pretty equal in this regard except the fortune will require a few extra small steps.

  • @PetrosSanctus
    @PetrosSanctus 9 годин тому

    I feel the Fortune needs more carrying capacity (official capacity as we all know loose cargo will damage your ship) to balance against the Vulture's speed and if anything, the Vulture should get a bigger Quant tank as it needs to jump more. At the moment it doesn't feel they're quite on par. The Fortune seems to be slightly on the losing end, so it really becomes a matter of which is more pleasant to the eye for you and if dislike stairs.
    Peace ✌🏻

    I prefer the more linear design of the fortune, straight out of the seat to walk along one floor to the dispensers/cargo lift is much more preferable than using a ladder constantly (that has on occasion trapped me). It's also slightly smaller so will fit more comfortably on my Ironclad, Liberator and possibly the endeavor hangar. I am also thinking of getting the Odyssey ccu from my BMM which it can also fit.

    I picked up the Fortune with store credit, and it's... OK. It's not bad, but for me it's just a bit worse than the Vulture. It doesn't fly as well, it's *much* slower to gather materials, and the auto-deploy doesn't really buy you enough to make up for that. It's not a "mistake" to pick, and if you just despise getting up and unloading the bay once on a trip, then it's OK - but in terms of getting a full payload into the ship and onto the cargo elevator, it's just that bit less good than the Vulture.

    As a competitor to the Vulture in the game as it currently exists, the Fortune is inferior in almost every way. Now, if somehow ground salvage becomes a profitable thing, maybe the Fortune could compete. People keep glossing over the slower speed of salvaging as if the auto box conveyors make up for that speed -- it doesn't even come REMOTELY close. I mean, you could argue that some players would prefer to never ever leave their seats and continue hull scraping, but they're going to be doing that for HOURS in the Fortune.
    I'm surprised the salvage head of the Fortune doesn't have a slightly higher speed multiplier (like the Reclaimer does) to make up for *some* of the speed difference.
    Also, the Fortune doesn't seem to have hull munching considered in the actual ship model as far as I can see. That either means that the hoovering of hull dust is the final form that hull munching is going to take, or the Fortune might lose that ability in the future.
    I should add, I'm a person who loves MISC ships. I had already melted my Vulture to buy the Fortune, assuming it would be mostly equivalent. It's just clearly not competitive. I tried it. It's unbelievably slow (compared to the Vulture) to try to make in-game money with. It would need to be *significantly* cheaper in-game. Like, 2/3 the price of the Vulture at most to justify. It's not really even a preference thing -- this ship is an in-game money making tool, and it's just worse.
