    Great...so many differences in so little time. Love this vid. Well explained as always. I'm unable to have my left hand on head right now so just had it on my shoulder instead. Also, so everytime that DING goes re subscribe I am reminded of an airline with announcements...I used to say that it would be amazing if there might be an airline devoted to Feldenkrais. Tables and stools with seatbelts NICELY spaced. :)

    This movement caused a lot of pain in my legs that slowly spread to my lower back as I was finding a position to sit to reduce my leg pain. Why is that so?

    Funny PT just showed me this for nerve gliding. Do you have a video for muscle at very top of one thigh at front (tight)? Also same side in back just on side of sacrum? Thx 🙏

      Here's my suggested videos for you:
      ua-cam.com/video/rP1VNeRiAp0/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/WSLAHtcynCA/v-deo.html
      While these videos might help you with tight hip flexors, I'd like you to think a bit deeper, and think why those muscles (any muscles) became tight in the first place and why they stay tight. Muscle weakness similarly. Why muscles become affected? And, why stretching, massaging often have temporary effects? My movement teaching challenges people to think beyond stretching and strengthening muscles, but to learn how to recognize their underlying conditions (root of their issues) and how they can change those conditions so they can improve their conditions for a long time.

      Thanks so much Taro. Agree with finding why and have some idea. I’ve had chronic issues with SI joint on opposite side for 20+ yrs incl two fusions and periformis release surgery. Also my leg on same side is few cm longer. PT says compensation for many yrs and sleeping on now painful/tight side as part of this. I’m trying to undo or peel back to find what’s happening but it’s hard and I’m tired and burnt out from too many yrs of dealing with it. Also trying to reduce pain drugs (I’ve tried all natural options but my system is very sensitive.) My PT also says my muscles are guarding or hyper-vigilant. I’m ready to give up. Trying pelvic floor therapy next.

    I work with Clients who are elderly and some of them can't raise their arms high enough to interlace the fingers on the top of the head. Are there any other options for the arm position? Thank you for you work 🙂🙏

    I understand that we need to rewire our nervous system, but to do that wouldn't we need to do a bit of practice to make that happen? What I mean is that even though we may feel that a practice is on the spot to help us out, we might need to practice it for some time to get brain on board.

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Рік тому +2

      absolutely! Consistent practice leads to many many repetitions, which are needed for new habitual patterns to be integrated. Repetitions done without attention and awareness however can lead to strengthening habitual patterns.
