    Excellent. My right side is stiffer than the left. In face there's a stiffness in my lower back right side from hip up to waist or thereabouts. Any idea what muscle is causing this.
    BTW, I have two slipped disc's in my neck affecting, you guessed it, my right side.

      the state of muscles is a reflection of how you move habitually, so it's not really that important to know which ones are tight, weak, etc. Knowing which muscles are tight, or weak, and addressing muscles through stretching or strengthening won't really change the underlying conditions (habitual movement patterns) that lead to the state of muscles in a long term. A real mission is to discover your habitual movement patterns in your daily activities that contribute to your current conditions, then retrain movement patterns and integrate more efficient patterns so you can change the underlying conditions. All my videos, thus focus on helping people pay attention to their body and movement patterns, and retrain movement patterns. What did you discover from this and other videos about your habitual movement pattern?

    I am getting some interesting results from doing these. I love doing the two that are on the floor as I can feel my spine relaxing.
    Do I have to do all seven of these? Or just do two or three of the ones I like. Also the ones on the floor I can do for about half an hour!

      I will try to keep this short.
      I've had insomnia for a year after a physiotherapist did a chiropractic adjustment on my neck.
      If any therapist touches my neck or I do exercise my insomnia gets worse. I went to an osteopath and they that I needs to release my back and sternum, which seemed bazaar to me.
      Anyway I've done your videos. Probably spent 2-hours on the first day. It feels like a self massage and my insomnia is getting better.

    Hello,Taro.
    Should we just do one of these movements and stick to it, or should we do all in sequence, one each day, or how we should do them?.

    Instantly got more neck pain. Doing something wrong?

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Рік тому +4

      One of the core principles here is to distribute movement and effort evenly throughout the whole body. Many people move from neck much more and over work the area repetitively. So my guess is thats probably what happened. As I mentioned in the video, please keep movements slow and small and pay close attention to your body not my body. Unless you move very slowly through a small range, you are likely to use your habitual patterns. Its about retraining movement patterns and nervous system and learning to move differently. It is about quality not quantity. This is NOT a stretching exercise. This is movement retraining, meaning this requires focused attention to your body. Getting pain means you are getting feedback so you can change the way you move. My suggestion is to do much much less (slower and less range). Once you improve movement patterns and quality, the range will increase without effort. Thats how you know you are doing right:)

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  Рік тому +1

      it's quite possible you are doing a bit too much and moving too much from your lower back. If you're feeling mostly in your mid back, that's okay, but if it's your neck or lower back, which is quite common as many are used to move from those areas, try moving much more slowly through a much smaller range. It might be a good idea to visit #1 of this series.
