Special thank you to Sam, Yemane, and Michael.
Today was a little bit of a random day in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, searching for delicious Ethiopian food. I first met up with Sam, and he took me a little outside of town, an area known for their meat. We asked some locals around, and found a local meat restaurant that everyone agreed was the best in the city.
Dulet - Dulet is an Ethiopian food of minced up raw organs, sauteed in Ethiopian spiced butter. It’s incredibly delicious. The the man sitting next to me ordered shekla tibs, a pan of sliced meat fried and served in a charcoal clay pan. It was very chewy, but tasty.
Total price - 230 ETB ($8.31) including drinks
Tej - Tej is traditional Ethiopian honey wine, and after asking, some people told us there was a local Ethiopian bar just down the road. It was quite an Ethiopian cultural experience.
Price - 9 ETB ($0.33) per cup
El Shaday Restaurant - Finally, we returned to Addis Ababa, in the center of the city, and searched out an Ethiopian food that I had desperately wanted to eat - called Tihlo. It’s a dish from Tigray, very rare to find in Addis Ababa, and even the friends I was eating with, who are all Ethiopian, had never heard of it, or tried it. So it was a first for all of us. Turned out to be incredibly delicious, and now one of my favorite new Ethiopian dishes.
Price - 80 ETB ($2.89)
Thank you for watching this unique Ethiopian food tour in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

Manish Singh rajput. That is soo true and he never talk mention any politics he is just foodie and he sticks with that
I work at a family shelter which tends to serve many Ethiopian families throughout the year. The mom's have taught me how to cook the foods, and also have shared their culture with me. It's the best food in the world, and I even prefer it to American food. I can cook it pretty well now, and even the mom's continue to teach new dishes to me. PLUS -- Traditionally made Ethiopian coffee is like nothing America can ever offer! Fortunately, we have many Ethiopian markets and restaurants here in Seattle.😄
I am from Seattle! I have hit up some awesome Ethiopia "deli/markets" but would like to explore more... what is your favorite dish and places you can recommend? My father actually lives in Addis. His favorite dish is the thibs? Sp
Jessica H I’m in Seattle too, I love Ahadu restaurant. There’s also Enat very close by. And near 125th and Lake City Way there’s a little store called Senait where you can get green coffee to roast yourself, injera, teff flour, and all the unusual spices that you can’t find anywhere else. If you’re interested in the food the lady there is really helpful.
Where is this shelter?
Bernadette Rocha where is the shelter?
Thats very comendable but its outrageous that a scumbag like this can go to a country that people starve to death in to do a food review show. They eat what is afforded to them...this is exploitation in its purest form. It shows how much some people really care.
I didn't know that Ethiopians are cute and have sweet smiles .. look friendly 😀
Greetings from Indonesia
Ethiopian people seem so friendly. They have a sweet smile. :-)

I'm impressed by the fact that he appreciates everything he eats
To be fair everything looked amazing. Even the raw offal.
Extra Spicy Please Yes I agree. No matter where he goes he likes everything. I would love to be like him.
There wasn't "raw offal"
lol, its first thing he ate, dont get mad, its in my culture too
it's called respect and opening up your pallet instead of eating meat and potatoes every day
Ethiopians are so beautiful, the men are so handsome and the women are gorgeous!! their skin just beautiful. We are the children of God.
Self obsessed much 🙄
@Adlin Kujur I don’t think she’s Ethiopian. She has an American name
Adlin Kujur they are the children of god. Ethiopia is the first cradle of civilization.
Biniam Gaming my name is Ahrabia John but my grandad is Ethiopian. Having an American name does not mean your not Ethiopian. I am a black woman still smh
Are u Italian
Wow my ethnicity is Bangladeshi although I've never been Bangladesh as I'm British, however ethiopia looks amazing. Such amazing humble people, they have awesome kind hearts 😊
Os Etíopes são realmente pessoas simples e muito calorosas👌👌👌 já testemunhei em algumas das minhas viagens a Addis

I never thought of Ethiopia as foodie place or even a place to visit but it's on the bucket list after seeing these videos! Ethiopia seems a wonderful place, great food, beautiful people, and such beautiful smiles! Thank you Mark, much love from Micronesia!
I see a Mark Wiens notification, I click the video. No questions asked...
Konglomerant agree my notification stays on lol.
Konglomerant I was on the bus heading to work when I got the notification and screamed out loud "YASSSSSSS!" 😂😂😂
EBONY WRIGHT ORLY?
The Real Frisco Yup sure did lol....best thing about it was someone else was watching it too lol....#TeamMarkWiens #FoodLoversInNYC
EBONY WRIGHT Lol! I hear ya! 👍
i'm looking at all the thumbs down and sure there are tons of uploads on youtube that deserve thumbs down but not this guy. mark wiens is hands-down an awesome, honest to goodness, good person. even if the food is not what interests me, it takes a lot of work to film, edit and upload one of these videos. it deserves a thumbs up. period. ty for keeping the world on top of the food culture. the guy wearing the suit jacket working at the butchery at the beginining had me laughing lol. oh man and that dish, tihlo, looks soooo good. i'm not at marks level of spicy but wow...he just makes it look all so yummy. i doubt i'll be able to find it in nyc. great video. ty!
Thank you very much for your amazing support.
You said that so well. I'd love to know why these people choose to tick the thumb down instead of thumbs up or nothing at all. They must have quite sad lives being negative. I'm all for looking at the positive side of everything. I drive my family nuts sometimes with the whole positive side to any situation, person, place or anything really.
I think some Ethiopians are stupid, the Thumbs down is not for mark but regarding the last food he eat from the Tigray people -unfortunate but defiantly political.
Amy Rivers I think a lot of the thumbs down comes from Somalis for political reasons 😂
@@niskamo6971 so much unnecessary hate in our world.
This is my fav video of yours only because I love Ethiopian food, I love seeing how they cook it, the traditional way.
Very impressed interesting
Hi Mark, thank you for opening my eyes to Ethiopian food, tomorrow I will go try some of it here in Israel where we have many people who came from Ethiopia. Keep up your wonderful work, Love and Shalom to you and your family 😘
The amount of beautiful, good-looking people in Ethiopia is crazy, everyone is gorgeous basically!
germankiwigal why do you have to point that out, because you're surprised. Only white people can be good looking in this racist world.
Starlet GT what’s wrong with you
shut up idiot
Says the white guy. *rolls eyes*
Starlet GT, lol, are you actually assuming my race? Idiot.
I flew into Addis in 96 from Egypt, Sudan was a no go at that time. I was travelling with other Aussies and Kiwis and the first thing they did was head to Pizza-hut. Total disrespect for the culture. The whole point of travelling is to meet and respect the people and share their food.
Another amazing vid Mark...keep em coming bro.
Hey Mark weins, I'm from Ethiopia. I just wanted to comment that this trip might have been tough to handle but thank you for always staying positive through out your journey.

You've inspired us Mark. Ethiopian food is now high up on our bucket list. It looks absolutely amazing.
You’re very respectful and mindful. I like your positive energy!!
Lol I have never ever seen anyone so positive and happy. Please could you make a video on what keeps you going and if you could try to diversify your content by combining food with advice. So as you are eating your plethora of multi cultural food, you give us advice with life etc. Please consider this!
Yet another first class video, Mark - well done! Your African food tour is definitely ranking high as one of my favorites. 👍🏽👍🏽
The one dish at the end eating with stick dipping meat sauce it's like cheese sauce dip.
Just by looking at it, it looks really awesome 👏😀
Thanks Mark. You really the best taking us to see such precious foods
Strength to Strength... Your videos keep getting better and better every time I watch them! Just Awesome!!! Thank you and God Bless you and your Family!!
Such good looking people in Ethiopia. Yummy looking food too Just added it to my bucket list!!!
I love how positive and smiley Mark is. A truly humble and appreciative person. As someone who has been watching Mark Wiens’ videos for a long time, I admire how humble and how much love he has for the food and the people. I love how he isn’t afraid to try new things and isn’t afraid to tread into places that aren’t of the best conditions. May good fortune and blessings only come your way for a long, long time Mark!
oh please he is fake smiling. for the views and the opinions are generally fake too. don't fall for the smile. stopped watching because he won't tell us the truth. he loves everything which just can't be

I cant take it! Your description of this food is so detailed and graphic (in a good way) that I need to try it now.
That last meal, telho (I think), looked awesome. I would love to try that one. I liked when he called the skewers “Ethiopian chopsticks” because I was thinking that they reminded me of chopsticks.
Omg ,,Seeing mark Weins introducing Ethiopian dish and smiling.....
*****its priceless *****

Mark,
I just happened upon your videos a short time ago, and watching you enjoying another culinary food adventure never fails to make me salivate as you go wide eye'd into every bite. Outstanding!!
i love his spirit and his nature too for eating with happiness
Mark, you are always so happy and smiling throughout your videos! It's refreshing and contagious! I hope you continue to love doing what you do! Wish you the best. =)
He just makes me smile. I wish I felt that good all the time.
Ethiopian people are so beautiful. The culture is incredibly rich.
Those Ethiopian chop sticks are cool!
Yes no need to struggle 🤣
Louis Lark
looks like chop sticks, but they use it like a normal stick, kinda weird
@eliran789 what's weird? It's much easier than a chopstick.
Sam LSD
they can use a stick with one sharp edge and not two, but the food maybe held better with two sharp edges
Maybe it's to keep the dumplings from slipping and falling? have you thought about that? or you are just trying to be negative and know it all?
Thanks Mark i miss my adiss abeba hope next summer i will be in their hurayyy.
Freaking awesome! Thanks for taking us with you Mark! Super cool! Love the bar and out of the way restaurants! Well done!
Just a note of appreciation for your videos and what a motivation and inspiration on how the world should be. Loving and sharing.
I gotta stop watching this channel on an empty stomach 😄!
While there are a lot of authentic Ethiopian restaurants in the Washington DC area because of the large Ethiopian population, we wish we can visit Ethiopia some day to experience your journey! 😄👍 We're glad to know Kategna that we tried here is the name of a popular restaurant there! We think you went to that restaurant four years ago? 😋 Safe travels! ❤️

When the ladies ran out lmaoooo 😂
Ethiopian women are shy and down to earth and also humble.
Mengpeng Shush.. I’m tired of everyone calling every female they see beautiful
They are shy because he’s a foreigner. If he was Ethiopian, they wouldn’t care.
Sean _ haha
I love when everyone in the video reacts to Mark's yummy face
the guide was really hungry 😂 and looks either bored/tired or just negative to be honest, you can get so many fun and positive people to show you around mark Ethiopians are very friendly and hospitable
