MCA was such an issue for me that I've vowed to never have an MCA system in my collection. But, I'm happy for you if you've managed to make it work :-)

Man this is all I wanted for my PS/1

I wonder if the card works on a Model 80 with a memory expansion card because then there are additional memory access cycles on the bus.

The amplified output made sense back in 1990, when there were a lot of passive computer speakers available. Today, they make absolutely no sense. Those type of passive speakers were never very good to begin with, and today, nobody (well, very few) would choose to use them. So a line level output would be a big upgrade.

The really bad thing about these PS/2 machines is when you go for a LPT1 dac you will experience lot's of noise from the bus
...really a bad grizzeling sound.... hopefully this MCA Soundcard is better and compatible to my PS/2

seems that this thing has also some noise problems... don't know why...these machines were super expensive and they have so much problems with noise of the powerlines...strange....

Hi! I’m the creator of this card. The unamplified output is rather noise free as Dag Erik explains in the video but the amplifier on the board adds some noise for some reason. Not entirely sure why it happens, I must have made a mistake when I designed the PCB layout. However, as long as you use the unamplified output it’s fine.

thx! I think I wait for the unamplified line-out version on the back.
If this is not planned I will checkout if this is compatible to my 486-SLC2 (Model 56?) and place an order.

Yeah, no wonders the audio is noisy with this design... This monstrosity makes even Creative cards layout look half decent :D

Why do you say that about the design? When using the internal line out i get better quality than my ISA Sound Blaster Pro.

@@RetroErik No wonders, line out bypasses all the analog circuitry. It's truly poorly designed, violates a lot of standards. I've attended a couple of classes about designing boards at college and know a little about it. At least the chips are not sticking out from the top of the board like on other design...
