This is the music they made that most people never hear and they should ! The main stream music they made is amazing but the other tracks like this one is beautiful ! 2020 and I’m here !
Ronnie died the day after my birthday almost 20 years before my time, but I still consider him one of my personal heros. I have grown up on Lynyrd Skynyrd's music. I love them. The music world lost a valuable family member when they lost Ronnie. I know that he will never be forgotten. RIP Ronnie
Lyrics Well I've been ridin' a winning horse for a long, long time Sometimes I wonder is this the end of the line No one should take advantage of who they are No man has got it made If he thinks he does, he's wrong Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday I've seen it happen so many times, so many times before Some man got so much money he doesn't worry no more Or he's got such a pretty woman that'll treat him fine Well my friend has been a fool It happens everytime Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday I'm not tryin' to preach to no one, to no one at all I've seen so many of my good friends just rise to fall 'Cause they got so much money or a woman so fine Well my friends have all been fools, it happens every time Every mother's son better hear what I say Every mother's son will rise and fall someday What I say What I say Oh, every mother's son will rise and fall someday
I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I've been a Skynyrd fan since 1976 and this is one of my favorite songs! It's a TOTAL mystery why this gets no airplay. The lyrics are GREAT. John L.
Damn Billy Powell makes that piano look easy! These guys took it to a whole new level! So much soul in every one of their songs. Every time these guys played live, they were tight and dead on balls accurate! One of the greatest, if not the greatest to ever play. They are responsible for the transition of music for that time period. There will never be another like them! Fly on Freebird!
I still remember the good old days riding around in the truck on dirt roads drinking cold beer and relaxing to the great stories by Ronnie Van Zant and the boys.
All you hear on the radio is " Sweet Home & Free Bird " This band had so much to offer in the rock n roll experience . Take a few moments to listen to the rest of the music . These guys had it all together . Very well written and all together . Skynyrd had it . ROCK ON !
In 1975 in the Pearl River Swamp,in Southeast Louisiana, the fish were sizzling, the Beer was cold, the southern girls were adding their sweet touch to make the evening as pleasant as they knew how!The stereo consist of an 8-Track wired up to an old Dodge truck,Lynyrd Skynyrd, by all means was the Southern Rock, rising up,spreading through the Cypress trees, floating over the river, creating an atmosphere of pease, and serenity for the Simple Man...
+Nolan Pierce Thanks for those words . They sure paint a picture of serenity that we should all strive for . I wasn't born in 1975 but sure sounds like a good time. Love these guys
fucking sounds like heaven Bro!! We were doing pretty much the same thing on the Banks of the Chattahoochee River over here in Atlanta.....lots of drugs and booze too!!
i play the song almost every time i play guitar....skynyrd has helped me in so many ways to deal with life,,..emotionally and morally. ...i'll never let skynyrd touch the ground !! seen em in atlanta in 87 johnny van zant wouldnt sing free bird ... miss you' ...your gone and left me here....with your wispers of encouragement...
LS was best with 2 guitars! Nothing against Ed King or Steve Gaines, both were awesome guitarists but Collins & Rossington were magic together and lost little or nothing when forced to go it alone. This song proves it!! Highly underrated!
This song is a great message but also celebrates the pure joy of two great guitar players. Gary Rossington is simply Gary and Allan Collins is at his best on his finest solo. I’m 65 and still love this song as much as in 1976. If there is a medium to play it it will be great for another 50 years.
Steve Gaines was an immense talent but I think some of LS best stuff was with 2 guitars. Allen on the strat and Gary on the Les Paul are a perfect compliment to one another. They had it all!! Billy sounds aesome on this song, too!
God, this song helped me through a real tough time when I was 16. I feel such a kinship to the guys in Skynyrd. I partied with in Statesboro GA 5 nights before the plane crash.
This song is from the album nothin fancy which I love so much and have had since high school. I still play it all the time, never get tired of it. They made some incredible music. Miss and love these guys so much. So much talent !!!!!! 🤘🏼💀🤘🏼. 🔥. 🤘🏼💀🤘🏼 Absolute fire 🔥🔥🔥
Just want to thank my parents and older friends for teaching me what true music is about, even in my fourties(I'm 42) you just can't outdo this music!!!!
God took Ronnie early so he could put him into his choir of angels along with all the other great singers that lost their lives at an early age. Imagine if Ronnie was still around they would have had made so many more great songs and rock would probley still be raw with emotion and alive today. R.I.P. Ronnie
This shows your character ... behind every good Man is a good Mama....You my Friend are a product of your Mamas raising and She did a wonderful job :) May you rise higher always :):)
Vickie Lynne Thank You Vickie , I had the best mom in the world , She loved everybody and the sweetest woman you could ever meet and your right she taught me how to be a gentleman ,again thank you very much because i was blessed to have a mother like her .
Only just heard this song for the very first time today (5/12/2018) off LS album Gimme Back My Bullets from '76. Now I've been a loyal Skynyrd listener since I bought their compilation double album LP 'Gold & Platinum' in 1980 when I was 17 - oh btw I'm a Kiwi (New Zealander). However I have to say I am soo embarrassed that I hadn't heard 'Every Mother's Son' before. Please excuse me while I give myself the biggest uppercut of my life. BOOOOF! Please allow me tell y'all a wee story 'bout my life ya might be interested in. About that year of 1980 I was in the last year of my high school education, 6th Form. I was quite good at sport and was both the athletics & cross country champion all through-out high school and played rugby in the 1st XV team in 1980. My grades were ok - bit in the middle. Favorite subject was English and that year I studied the novel 'The Catcher In The Rye' authored by J.D. Salinger (USA). Loved studying the novel and author and I scored well in tests on it/him. I was fortunate to have a high school sweetheart who just so happened to be a country girl - and I was a city slicker. All our class mates teased us and we absolutely loved every minute of it. However all the farmers in the district where my girl lived detested me because I was a city slicker. Her parents were ok with me, though her dad was naturally very protective of his daughter and when our relationship began breaking down he gave me his sermon and I felt very guilty that I wasn't good enough for his daughter. Our relationship ended after only 10 months. When I entered the work force as an apprentice truck mechanic I bought my first motorcycle. It wasn't too long before I discovered that motorcycles would be my new next and greatest love in my life. I served my time of 8,000 hours in my apprenticeship and then left and began working at a local export meat freezing works. My sporting career took off and I was an accomplished marathon runner, triathlete, and road cyclist. I met my high school sweetheart again around 1986, we enjoyed each others company before I discovered the flame had burnt out. She left New Zealand and traveled over to Australia where she married, and had children. In 1990 at the age of 26 I had my near-death motorcycle accident that instantly amputated my left leg at the knee. Over a few days I contacted septicemia (blood poisoning) and in order to save my life, my entire left leg, hip joint, and left side of my pelvis was amputated. It was a massive operation and it was during it I had my near-death experience. I spent a total of 101 days in hospital. I continued my sporting career and became a New Zealand Disabled Swimming Champion in the S9 category at the New Zealand Disabled Sporting Championships in 1993 - I won 5 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals and broke 5 New Zealand records. In 1994 I set the World's Fastest Time for an A.K.A. (above knee amputee) using crutches on my one good right leg over the Marathon. My time of 5 hours 58 minutes 13 seconds beat the existing time of 6 hours 22 minutes by 23 minutes. It was my greatest sporting achievement in my life. My time remained unbeaten for 19 years. I completed 6 half and 6 full Marathons on crutches from 1992 - 1998. However such demanding physical performances take their toll and in 2010 I had my good right leg hip joint replaced. Currently I am still exercising and riding my mountain bike. My family mean everything to me. After the death of my son, mum, dad, and brother-in-law over an 18 month period in 2011, my life fell apart and I had no energy. I have suffered from clinical depression now for 35 years. Thankfully I am not manic. I have suffered from chronic stump nerve pain ever since my left leg was fully amputated - so that's 28 years - it is controlled by a cocktail of the strongest legally G.P. prescribed pain meds, acupuncture, exercise, and a healthy diet. When my energy levels began to return in 2014 I made the decision to return to wearing my prosthesis. I am also 'wearing in' my brand new prosthesis (artificial leg) - it has 3 joints - hip, knee, and ankle. I am termed a 'hemipelvectomy' and very few can wear a prosthesis as it is so physically & mentally challenging. I am 55 and loving life with my wife of 13 years. We are inseparable. If you have read this I want to thank you and wish you all the very best life can offer you. I would also like to thank Lynyrd Skynyrd for helping me to enjoy their music and gain some form of therapy I guess.
This is the shit here people. Oct. 20, 1977 was the day the music died for me. We'll never see the likes them again. You'd be hard pressed to find a band with more talent than Ronnie, Steve, Allen, Leon, Gary, Al, Ricky,Bob,Artimus,Billy,Kooper, and Dowd. These guys made ever lasting music. There was the core and then there are those who many may have forgotten. No one should ever underestimate the contributions of Al Kooper and the incomparable Ed King. Ed is Lynyrd Skynyrd as much as anyone. RIP
One of the greatest songs ever ! You have to listen to all Skynyrd songs to find any better...People said "Clapton is GOD"....Down south we feel the same way about Ronnie Van Zant..............
Bluesjan.. I believe you're right. They had just done the tour with the Who so seems very possible. This is one of the best vids ever.. no overdub or sync to the studio version and the actual video mix is one that doesn't suck. Thank you for this.
This was Skynyrd at their lean and mean best. Ed King had left and Steve Gaines had not yet joined. Ronnie singing, Allen and Gary on guitars, Leon on bass, Billy on keyboard and Artimus on drums. It don't get any better boys!!

Lyrics
Well I've been ridin' a winning horse for a long, long time
Sometimes I wonder is this the end of the line
No one should take advantage of who they are
No man has got it made
If he thinks he does, he's wrong
Every mother's son better hear what I say
Every mother's son will rise and fall someday
I've seen it happen so many times, so many times before
Some man got so much money he doesn't worry no more
Or he's got such a pretty woman that'll treat him fine
Well my friend has been a fool
It happens everytime
Every mother's son better hear what I say
Every mother's son will rise and fall someday
I'm not tryin' to preach to no one, to no one at all
I've seen so many of my good friends just rise to fall
'Cause they got so much money or a woman so fine
Well my friends have all been fools, it happens every time
Every mother's son better hear what I say
Every mother's son will rise and fall someday
What I say
What I say
Oh, every mother's son will rise and fall someday
