- (23 Oct 2019) Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako welcomed visiting royals from all around the world Wednesday for a tea party at Tokyo's Imperial Palace.
The event was held a day after the emperor's enthronement ceremony.
The newly proclaimed Imperial couple were seen smiling, while greeting the arriving royals from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Most of the Imperial family members, including the abdicated Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko, were expected to join the party, according to Japanese Imperial Household Agency.
On Tuesday, Naruhito proclaimed his enthronement in an ancient palace ritual before 2,000 guests from around the world.

The Empress is still so gorgeous.
Her majesty the Empress seems happy around the danish crown prince couple!
Actually the Empress and Emperor have a very special relationship with the Dutch royals. In 2006, two years after Masako's stress disorder diagnosis, the then Queen Beatrix invited the family for a two-week holiday at her private estate, Het Loo Palace, in Apeldoorn. Many royal watchers speculated that Beatrix sympathised with Masako's condition given that her own husband, the late Prince Claus, suffered with severe depression. During the holiday the two families were pictured laughing and smiling together and Masako's daughter Aiko happily played with Maxima and Willem-Alexander's eldest daughter Catharina-Amalia. In 2013, Masako returned to the Netherlands to attend King Willem-Alexander's inauguration in Amsterdam after his wife Maxima called her and requested that she attend. Masako's parents also lived in the Hague for many years.
It's "Her Imperial Majesty the Empress"
The Empress is respected by the world!
@@jgp7591 I always knew there was a special bond between the two ladies, but did not quite know why. Many thanks for telling.
@@krishnasubhasanthi6535 The 'Imperial' address was dropped after 1945 and was formalised in 1947 in agreement with the Allied Powers.

Why king of bhutan bow? Seems they are at the same lavel now
As long as you are visitor in one country especially if it's Kingdom, it's still your responsibility to bow to the ruler.
a humble bhutan king
its a complicated answer , in the olden days protocol dictates that every one should bow to a emperor since he is the highest on the pecking order. now leaders king emperor are on equal footing so they should not. with his hrh king of bhutan he is just being humble. notice the queen of bhutan did not bow since its not on the protocol but hrh is just being humble.i hope i gave a decent answer
@@CristobalBDioag No it's not
He is just too humble and sweetheart....
He is a Royal Ruler of Nation ,he is snot supposed to Bow to another royal ruler unless he was a prince .......
Notice how King Carl Gustaf did bow to the emperor
Let's eat the rich. Except the emperor and empress. I like them.
And the Borbons??????
"Bourbons" !!!
And the Wales's ? :D
Japan's most hated Prince Akishino is about to attend his coronation in England. It is shameful and inappropriate for Japan. Because he doesn't speak English and has too many scandals.
