The crash is caused by Prophets cape, so be weary of that
My game crashed, but I didn't have that item.
@@internal-scream1031 I would add a bug report on the discord for that
Thanks
I was in the discord theorycrafting chat right as people were figuring out how to make the battery and robomando consistently spawn, only one or two people had actually unlocked him. It was awesome to watch in real time! Crazy how fast the community figured all this out
I didn't join the discord until after I made the video that would have made unlocking him so much easier lmao, I just found the battery and tried everything till I got it
@@KieranPlaysAlotsuper impressive that you found it on your own! The hints for what to do are found by taking the survivors' passenger IDs from their logs, reversing them, and reading the as hexadecimal character codes. The most notable ones are "temple" "elder" "ceramics" "fragile" "easydoesit" "volcano" "tactsubterra" "fortyfour" "half_time" and "deah_end"
Hoo boy I have no clue how I lucked into it then cause I didn't know any of that lmao
people being smart on the ror discord? impossible
The fact that this is real just proves how much thought went into this game
I was wondering what the battery was for, I thought I found some teleporter looking thing it might go into but this is still cool! thank you, would have never guessed otherwise lol
I've been informed this was an ongoing puzzle that I just kind of lucked into lmao, tricky stuff to figure out
thankes! your the only person i found that has a giude
I couldn't find a single guide around so I thought I'd share
thanks so much man
i had a 5 hour run yesterday trying to figure out where the strange battery was used but couldnt figure anything out other than it needed to go with some sort of stage 4 interactable
Of course, turns out there were a bunch of hidden clues and codes but I just spent 26 hours testing things till I figured it out lmao
I found this on my own today!!! Like most, I found the battery first and was wondering how the hell to use it. Thanks to exploring as a drone in multiplayer the other day, and knowing about the hidden dancing golems on the final stage as a veteran ROR1 player, I found the equipment storage chest. I lucked out on finding robomando and seeing the "1 battery" prompt, so at first I thought I was supposed to loop to get the battery there, but it of course didn't work because he didn't spawn. I guess I also lucked out that I entered stage 4 at the correct time on my second run with the battery! Didn't know about some of the extra requirements like drizzle and rainstorm being required. You definitely don't need to enter the 3rd teleporter at exactly 22:00, any time after will work.
Robomando seems like a character built to speed through the game, you don't have to kill any enemies to move on besides the bosses. Seems like a really great support character as well through the re-wire ability. Golden Gun seems fantastic on him since you rarely spend money.
Nice! I also went to see the dancing golems and figured the battery would be the equipment needed, good to know it doesn’t need to be exactly 22, I think I just lucked out with doing it and then upping difficulty, it’s interesting how much his item value is different from everything elses
So if you beat the game as robomando it plays Hit it son (the dancing golem song) in the credits!
I know I had to sit through the whole credits it was so funky I love it
thank you kieranplaysalot for telling me How to use Strange Battery Risk of Rain Returns (Robomando Secret 16th Character) i am very glad for this information
Now i wonder what his eding quote is. Only one way to find out. And thank for this guide
It’s a pretty good one honestly, best of luck!
So uh...I found the robomando body somewhere on a stage in a random run just saying it required a battery...which I then couldn't find because of the shenanigans you have to do here lol.
When I saw it was a special equipment, I was hoping you'd get it from your drop pod at the start like in RoR2, but I was sad to see it was not the case. Thanks for this guide! It'd be an insane achievement to win on Monsoon with him, seeing as how his moveset looks to be just Commando but way worse...although the "re-wire" looks interesting
Finding the body but not the battery is a first, I’ve played a bit with him and wile his move set is definitely a meme his ability to infinitely repair drones makes him super easy to start rolling with if he can get lucky
found the body before knowing about the battery as well, it was in one of the hive cluster variations. doubt i'd have figured out the battery part without this video though
i was so sad when i found out Rex wasn't in the game 😞
RIP rex, the realist :'
Rex is my most played character so i was hurt too 😭
Lets hope for RoRR DLC Expansions to add them in 🙏
thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Fun part of it is, I never turned difficulty to drizzle, so i never even found battery, but found this lil guy just chilling on the forth location
The mystery fella
if you die while holding the battery in the rainstorm run, do you have to repeat the entire process?
On one of the variations of hive cluster theres a spot that needs a battery
That’s the fella yup
i followed every step but it didnt teleport me to the map with the robomando area, ive zoomed out and cant find it
So looking at the timer when you leave, just before the 22min mark, the difficulty ticked over from hard to very hard, and presumably the chime finished by the time it ticked over. This might mean you must start stage 5 on very hard, which is not the 22min mark for drizzle. This may mean anyone attempting on drizzle has a longer wait to start stage 5, could be worth testing.
That’s possible though the fact that the battery only exists on drizzle makes me think the difficulty switching is intentionally done like this to make the secret more elusive
If I die on the run after delivering the battery to the chest before I unlock robocommando do I have to deliver the battery again? Not seeing the chest on my second run after delivering it once.
Any idea what the rainbow outline just to the left of the chest that you initially put the battery in is about I keep seeing it but no idea what to do with it
Its a skin for mercenary!
I got it just by having merc, should work if you have him
So outa curiosity, after you put the battery in the first chest on the final stage, do you HAVE to find Robomando on the NEXT run? Or just in any run after that in general?
Gotta be the next run as far as I'm aware
this plays out like a "mew is under the truck" conspiracy but the comments are all backing it up, I may try it out tomorrow
I swear an uncle of mine works there and Robomando got coffee with him and everything, they took pictures!!!
I just tried some testing (unintentional was trying to speedrun 2nd phase and died)
Your progress is saved even if u die in your first run,
You can do it on drizzle
Good to know!
Wish i knew this after over 10 attempts.
Battlefield-level of an Easter Egg
Great, time to unlock the peacekeeper for Bandit
the battery spawns on drizzle even if you use artifact of command
Yup, I suppose I should’ve specified it works with command as well, always on drizzle
I'm going to be honest, I haven't seen the chest for it, but I have gotten it plenty of times from the urn on stage 5
You've got to get it from the Urn and then put it in the chest under the final stage, that teleports it to the second stage in your next run
@@KieranPlaysAlot I see I see, thanks for the info
I found that battery b4, and immediately throw it away cuz it was trashy, I don't remember how I got it in the past
@@Ant_Redstone yeah you got it from the urn on stage 5 lol
@@KieranPlaysAlotmy power cut out as I was fighting the stage 2 boss with the battery on me. Do I have to redo the first part, or will it still be in the red chest on stage 2?
cool man was wondering what it went to
You got it!
@@KieranPlaysAlot i accidentally found it the first time
What happens if you die before reaching the bot on the second run after you picked up the battery from the chest you sent off previously? Do you need to restart entirely? or can you retry on try the same difficulty you died at and pick up the battery again for another go at it?
Gotta go back to drizzle and try again
@@KieranPlaysAlot so you gotta start over? Figured. Bummer.
COOL
VERY
I died with to find the battery equipped in stage 3, but now I can't find the Stage 2 chest in the next run after that... does that mean I have to reobtain the battery?
I believe so yes
If you don’t immediately go for the battery chest in the next run, does it not show up again?
It seems like it
Good question! I'm only aware that it shows up next run, I'm not sure I'll have to do some testing
it will randomly show up, regardless if you have the battery or not
if you die after when trying to charge the teleporter at 22 minutes does that reset your progress or can you just get the chest on stage 2 again?
Not sure! That's yet to be thoroughly tested though the increased difficulty has me imagine you have to do it next run
No you have to git the battery again
I'm assuming if you die on the second run, on your way to the robomando to put the battery in, you have to do the drizzle run again? Because I died lol
Rip, seems so
same
damn that sucks
@@KieranPlaysAlot
For the time you teleport it has to be between 22:00 and 22:59, not exactly on 22 thankfully
That's super helpful to know
what if its 24.00+ (help)
Died just before I could teleport to stage 4.
Do I have to do everything all over again?
Sadly I think ya might
this didnt work for me, I didnt find the battery on the second stage afterwords
Gotta search a wile
Couple of questions. I was trying this today and accidentally picked drizzle on the second run and I still got the battery on the second stage is that normal ?? Also I died while trying to wait for 22mins (my wife was talking to me and I lost concentration) do I need to do all the steps all over again ??
You get the battery but the little guy doesn't spawn on stage four, you'll probably have to do it over again, took me a bunch of tries myself
@@KieranPlaysAlot oh ok I will do it again then bump up the difficulty
If you die while trying to get to robotmando do you have to restart at step 1 again?
As far as I’ve seen it looks like that’s the case, though I’ve not tested thoroughly
Great thanks :))
@@KieranPlaysAlot
I found robomando, but I've never picked up the battery or even played on drizzle before.
I haven't unlocked him, I just found him sitting on stage 3 of my run and wondered "what's this thing that says it costs 1 battery?"
Why can't I find the box in Stage 2? I followed everything. Or I made a mistake and may have opened the box before but didn't know what it was. Now I'll just do it and I won't find the box.
It’s a big map, try zooming out your camera
how to zoom out ? can do it?
@@autoone4784 It's in settings, camera zoom.
If you die, you have to deliver the battery again?
Yes
my question is what if you die after changing the difficulty. If I don't get a good response then I'll answer the question in 3 days
You have to get the battery again
@@KieranPlaysAlot :( sobbing, crying, i suck at this game
does the level you find him on have to be magma barracks?
No just that number level I've also found him in the hive

I accidentally killed him.
Impressive! But yeah if you kill him how are you gonna play as him! *Covers Acrid with tarp*
ive found the battery on very easy
Very easy is in drizzle mode yeah
Why do you have everything but mercenary
I spent so long testing this after I found the secret under the ship I forgot to beat the game
What does the scepter do with Robomando?
It has a 20% chance to double the item
@@Rxtboii That's awesome. 20% more items.
Just checked and it's (OVER-WIRE) a 20% chance to "double output" which I assume means 2 items and maybe 2 drones
shit is like a cod zombies easter egg
Bro I swear it’s real trust me my cousins dog did it by accident
This feels like it should be fake yk
Feels like the kind of thing someone would make up in an elaborate ruse like L is real in Mario 64
I feel like that is the point 😁
@@KieranPlaysAlot "you can now play as robomando"
Hi there, dude. I have a question. Do you think that at this moment ror r has broken awfull balance and is too, TOO hard? I am playing this game everyday, i ve played different metroidvanias/roguelites, but i can't beat this game on the easiest difficulty, because i do 0 damage and everything is oneshoting me. Beating dead cells 5 cell was eazier than this.
Nah, I grew up failing horribly at the first risk of rain and this game is no harder than that, the thing is that this game is a platformer first and foremost, you won't beat it with the skills you train in other rouglites, It's important to practice positioning and dodging over dealing damage and remembering that with each death you can learn a little more. The rain is harsh. You Will Die.
@@KieranPlaysAlotsame i first played ror almost a decade ago, the difficulty scaling is so much more than ror2
I will say that having played RoR and RoRR for the first time relatively close together, Returns feels harder in general, but maybe that's just because the enemy AI is now much more cheese-proof. Being able to start with a character other than Commando is a godsend, though, because I hate Commando. (I spent my first few days in RoR grinding mostly the first level until I could get 40 drones and unlock Engineer, at which point I could begin the game for real.) Also it's super nice of RoRR to let you keep your progress on Drizzle mode, since RoR wiped almost everything achieved in Drizzle when you closed the game. I'd say it's more accessible, but slightly more difficult.
A bit of advice for just getting a first win, if you're willing to go the easy route: Acrid is great if you make proper use of his damage-over-time abilities, I've won almost every run with him (and Artifact of Sacrifice... not sure how much difference that makes. Not enough for me to easy win as other characters). If you don't have him yet, use Huntress until you do.
This game is fundamentally much harder than Risk of Rain 2 because it's 2d so you've less room to dodge and you have to walk towards your enemy to begin attacking in their direction (usually), which adds commitment to attacks. However I don't think it's unfair at all.
The key to beating this game is to go FAST, because the longer you take the harder it gets. Here's a few tips:
• Only buy a few things (for stage 1, seriously just get like 3 items). There is absolutely no reason to take 10 minutes to clear an entire stage, because you will get far more items, way faster in the later stages. Sometimes, if I'm falling behind because I took too long in a previous stage, I'll instantly start the boss on the next stage and only buy chests right next to the teleporter.
• Run past enemies. You should only be killing enemies if you need the money or you can take them out really fast. If you've a lot of money, you should absolutely be skipping enemies to find the teleporter/chests. Playing multiplayer will help develop this habit because you're forced to compete for loot.
• And finally, zoom your screen out in the game's settings so you can see much further. I like to use 1.25x zoom & 2x HUD scale.
TL;DR: Speed is key.
Good luck!
I got no problem with the difficult in RORR (Beside the Eletric elites with they buged range...), but i have around 300 hours of RoR1
Somethings i think is worth knowing to git gud:
• You need to know how some enemy works and how to dodge they attacks, and some times, just leave them behind because its not worth kill every single enemy in the map.
• Dont waste TOO much time in the same stage, the difficult increase over time, and you WILL die because you expend 15 minutes in stage 1 for just 4 items.
• And always remember to use what you have, i often play with friends that have a Skill/item/equipment that could saved him, but he didnt usedit and die.
and i tried to not use google translate to write, sorry if something is weird to read, im trying xD
I mean thanks for the Tutorial, but I can't even get to stage 4 on easy with Artifact of command,
how am I supposed to do all this
Gotta learn how to platform, dodge and take your time. I believe in you! I had a lot of practice with the original
You can use the game rule to set your damage taken to 10℅, for the sake of ease when unlocking a complicated easter egg like this. It does take away the challenge of the game but well.. If you're desperate why not
Get Classified Access Codes
ultimate meme
God Tier Little Guy
Can he be used in multiplayer??
Absolutely! I’d even go as far to say it’s the main place it’s playable considering it’s terrible attacks and mobility are only made up for by its unlimited access to drones and chests
Robomando crashed my game and I didnt get the achievement or the unlock

I looked up strange battery because I was curious what it did, and this was the first result. Why did you have to spoil the character in the title? I would've loved to discover this for myself, but since you put "robomando secret 16th character" in the title I don't get to, and anyone else who looks it up either will also get spoiled. Why would you ever put something like that in the title?
