[Elite Dangerous: Odyssey] First Odyssey Mission!

What else is a Billionaire Elite Trader, who is a Rear Admiral in the Federal Navy, who just got back from a couple years in the Black, supposed to do for fun around here? Assassination Mission, obviously!
I've been out of Elite for a while, but recently started getting back into it. And then Odyssey went on sale! I wasn't real keen on it (FPS mechanics? In MY Elite?!?) But turns out, it's pretty fun! I have a lot to learn, mats to gather, grinds to grind, but so far so good!
After I did the initial training mission, I figured I'd do something I don't normally do, since it's All New! Come along and see how it works out!

(The on foot/combat stuff starts about half-way through) Being the first time, I made tons of mistakes (that whole shield thing. That whole suit charge thing), and didn't even have some things mapped (grenades, for example). But I thought it was a good first run, and it shows off a decent amount of the kind of thing you can expect to be doing on a combat orientated On Foot mission.

(I have been having some weird 'why would my character even consider this mission?' thoughts. Like...he wouldn't do that, nor does he need to! LoL. But I am definitely not going to make a new PC! lol)

ya know, I do have another 'account' for elite. It was Free on Epic a few years back. If Odyssey is on sale there as well...I could start a new guy. They actually have it setup where you don't even need a ship to get started! There is literally a space taxi service to take you places, and there are 'conflict zones' that apparently when you take the quest, you just launch an instance right there and you're off and fighting. (I'm going to mess with that here shortly) however. I will say that unless they give you like a million credits, you're not going to have any gear. In this video, while nothing is upgraded, it is a 150,000 cr suit, the shotgun there was ... 90K, the sniper rifle is 150K and even the plasma pistol was like 40 or 60K IIRC. So...not sure how much fun it would be in just the basic flight suit and pistol. .... Intriguing, captain.

So it is on sale at Epic. So that is a possibility if I want to do a 'criminal/mercenary/pirate' playthrough. But, oh...the grind! You'd have to get a ship eventually, and engineer it, and all that, in order to get money and the engineering for your suits and guns. I did just do some Taxi Rides, hopped 55LY out and back (to unlock one of the Od Engineers) and that was not exactly cheap: about 60K credits! So, for a totally new player, not sure how they are to make decent money quickly. I'm sure there are the ways. But I really like my fleet of ships and my 'money is no problem' bank balance! Not to mention all the faction & engineer rep, mats gathered, upgrades and mods, etc.
