I loved Ronnie's phrase 'the normal people' because I get sick of hearing high and mighty politicians calling us 'ordinary people' or 'working people' (those politicians do not know what work is). For someone who says he is no good at public speaking, this is an excellent and refreshing speech from Ronnie.

That's what politics should be about : Community level, through listening to people, and negotiating and changing.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is not only the greatest snooker player there will ever be. He's not only one of the greatest sportsmen there will ever be. He is also a great person. He's not perfect - because no one is perfect. But he has suffered his own troubles and come out the other side and, seemingly, found happiness and a purpose in life. I wish him, and - of course - Faiza, well.
The more independent MPs in parliament the better. It would pull the rug from underneath the lobbyists for a start with the party whip nonsense forcing MPs to vote against the interests of their constituents as well as their conscience.

Love this - I've sent a couple of Labour canvassers away with a flea in their ear, citing what's happened to Faiza as the best example of what's wrong with Labour as it is, though I'm in another part of the country and will tactically vote Labour. (The second one at least knew who I was talking about and agreed with me.) I'm Labour. Faiza's Labour. Starmer's idea of Labour I don't recognise. Most important thing is to consign the disgusting tories to the dustbin of history - but I'll be rooting for Faiza and Leanne Mohammed all the way - amazing women and voices I want to hear in parliament - they give me hope for a better future.
