Jeremy Corbyn's independent election campaign to stop Starmer winning London stronghold

- Can Corbyn keep his seat? We visited Islington North to meet the man who has spent 40 years representing this part of London. Is his loyal following enough to beat Labour on July 4th, or has Keir Starmer purged him from parliament in a way Tony Blair never did?

Should Corbyn have founded a new left-wing party when he was suspended from Labour?
I don't think parties are the way forward, they used to be a good idea when we were less connected but now we have the internet, social media and decentralised news, independent candidates can collaborate just as easily without forming something that can become what it seeks to defeat.
Without party politics, it would be possible to work with people like Galloway on foreign policy where he's excellent but ignore him on domestic issues where he is a bigot.
The ANC ended apartheid but Andrew feinstein ended up leaving because they became corrupt.
Denouncing Israel as an aprtheid state and proposing nationalisation of crucial UK industries should be in the founding charter of any such party
Yes or teamed up with George Galloway.
There is one. Workers party. For goodness sake no more sectarianism.
@@joyvinansky8448 Galloway is very socially conservative. They couldn't work together.
Go Corbyn! Thanks Declassified for the very informative video!
Fingers crossed for Corbyn. England needs him in parliament. Vote Independent or Green wherever you live in the UK. Send a message that Billionaires and Corporationa are not Kings to be bowed down to. Send a message that you are not slaves to Billionaires.
Don’t vote Green they’re part of wef
A vote for Jeremy Corbyn is a vote for honesty and decency...
Despite Corbyn's appalling treatment, as party leader, of leftist Labour members who were, like him, falsely accused of anti-semitism?
A vote for Jeremy Corbyn is a vote for dishonesty and intolerance.

I will NEVER vote 4 Labour ever again - not after what they did to JC (& their BS 'foreign policy’ !) u did the right thing Jez ❤ people of this constituency PLS PLS PLS VOTE JC 🙏🏼 as that kid said "he is the most honest politician we’ve ever had" ❤️❤️❤️
I wish Jeremy was my MP
Love you Jeremy Corbyn. Justice & Equality for the British people. Britain only works for the rich.
Peace, justice and dignity for the Palestinans and Gaza. May God sustain you. Heaven belongs to the peacemakers and those who fight for justice.
Left and Right politics are dead.
I will never ever vote Labour. I was hounded out of the party for giving a talk to our CLP about my experiences living and working in the West Bank. Labour is a racist party.
WISHING JEREMY CORBYN AND ISLINGTON VERY BEST VICTORY.
EVEN ENGLAND AND HUMANITY NEEDS JEREMY CORBYN IN PARLIAMENT AND GOVERNANCE
C'mon Jeremy Corbyn as an Independent is awesome. Lets Vote him in! ❤🍉
Authoritarian Kier Starmer is very insecure. His moral foundations are fragile.
-fragile- * non-existent
Sir Keir Starmer is yet to be democratically elected. How can he be authoritarian?
@@user-cp7gh8zj6bSir Keir Starmer hasn’t been democratically elected. How can he be authoritarian?

I cannot imagine Jeremy Corbyn losing. If i was in Islington, he would have my vote. I just hope that Kier Slimer's labour loses big time.
They are 25 points ahead of the Tories in the polls but Corbyn should win his constituency…maybe
I don’t care what others think, I will always support Mr Corbyn, because I’ve always admired him, regardless, he is an incredible man and politician, and very likeable as well, and down to earth. I don’t live in Islington or even London, so I won’t be able to vote for him, but I support him 100% whole-heartedly. Best of luck, Jeremy - and also thanks to this journalist Matt Kennard, he is also outstanding. The voice of honesty (like Jeremy).
Well said! He always had my vote for the very reasons you stated
Absolutely agree
He supports terrorism though ?
I wish he would come to Warrington ❤ I voted for him when he last ran for PM❤
Let's go Jeremy!!!
Good look to JC , a decent man, my two kids and my ex wife who live in the area are all voting for JC.
#unseatWes #GetStarmerOUT
Vote Independent.
I wish Jeremy and his supporters all the best on Thursday if I lived in that area I would vote for Jeremy I would never vote Labour again after what they did to Jeremy and to the people in this country who badly needed a real Labour government with real Labour values and that is what Jeremy stood for god bless Jeremy ❤
Same here! It is In no small part that starmer and his accomplices denied us the supportive government JC could have created and inflicted 5 more years of misery on us with the cons! He did it for his own power hungry interests and nothing more!!

What is good for one people is good for all peoples. From Spain, I wish Jeremy Corbyn luck and success. ✌🏽
I really hope Jezza and Faiza win their seats.
& Andrew Feinstein defeats the Brylcreem poster boy in his own constituency.
Mr Corbyn is a decent, prepared, HONEST Member of Parliament. Very few MPs are anything like him, all self-serving careerists.
I cancelled my Labour membership soon after Mr Corbyn was suspended.
Being an MP is not a job for him, rather it's a CALLING, a VOCATION. Period.
I wish I lived in Islington North so I could vote for him.
Failing that, I will be canvassing for him this week and next week.
❤
Jeremy Corbyn has worked hard for the people of Islington. It is now for the people of Islington to get him reelected.
I know they have Corbyn behind in the polls but that's okay - He was always going to start from behind but i'm confident he'll win this seat as the word spreads and the volunteers descend on Islington.
JC for islington north vote independent don’t give starmer a mandate give him accountability
Last time in Glastonbury people across the world watched his popularity when the crowd sang joyfully OH JEREMY CORBIN 🎶 no politician ever had such gesture of appreciation.
We need him back as PM.
And it was an absolute echo chamber. The public rejected him in two general elections
@@jamescooke6032 rejected Labour. Now as independent it may change. 🤞
@@VeronicaAlessandrello well... He won't be in goverment if he wins now or have any real power. If people wanted corbyn they should have voted for him in the last two elections!
@jamescooke6032 The corrupt, billionaire owned media lied and smeared him to get their billionaire loving barsteward, Johnson, into power.
@jamescooke6032 The Labour vote was 40% and 32% in those two elections. It just didn't translate into seats. The Tory vote was 40% in 2019 which resulted in a majority of seats.
Jeremy would have been a better prime minister than a shifty starmer.
You mean kid starver 😎
@@belfastaWhat do you mean? 🤔
Corbyn would never had been prime minister because he was so unelectable.
I'm very worried that Jeremy could lose his seat to labour because his constituents don't realise he has left.
The icing on the cake would be to see Starmer lose to independent!!...
Please please please Islington North, vote for JC...
Corbyn stayed loyal to Labour way to long. I've never understood why. Anyway I hope he wins.
I really wish Jeremy would start his own party, right now I hope he is re elected as we need Starmer to be held to account.
@sophie333c: For what, his refusal to call a ceasefire because Hamas had no intention in favour of one but instead supported a temporary pause in hostilities to allow aid for the victims of the conflict in Gaza that was backed by the UN Security Council? 🤔
@@stevenpaulgoulding No, it’s not about Gaza, it’s the fact that Starmer is a compulsive liar, and backstabber. You can’t trust him, he is a puppet for the WEF etc, also he can’t tell the difference between a man and woman!
Jeremy Corbin - an honest voice in politics. Very rare
Honest? He'd be campaigning for the election of the most right-wing Labour government in its history were it not for being kicked out of the party. Hardly honest.
Come on Jeremy!!💪💪
I couldn't agree more with the young mans' words: "one of the very few honest politicians left". Vote INDEPENDENT to re-elect JEREMY CORBYN.
You do realise that, if Corbyn hadn't been kicked out of Labour, he'd be campaigning for Starmer/Streeting/Reeves et al right now?
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx I imagine he would be campaigning to represent his constituents and, true to his well-established record of defying the party line, making principled stands in parliament and seeking to influence policy.
@@celt456 Campaigning to elect a Starmer-led Labour government, the most right wing in its history (and that's saying something). What changes to Labour policy in government has Jeremy Corbyn achieved?
I, too, am no fan of this right-wing Labour administration - I am no longer a member of the party, accordingly.
It isn't always easy to see the direct influence of different views expressed in parliamentary debates, or the way in which they shift public opinion and voting behavior, But, it is always a powerful statement when a politician speaks against their own party and it brings the issue into public awareness. Also, alliances with others in the party on the left can be effective (the small number of far-right Tories, for example, have had a huge influence on their direction, to the point of the most ugly of policies being enacted).
Importantly, Jeremy's constituents speak highly of the way he works tirelessly to represent them and it would have been easier to be elected to continue to serve them as a Labour candidate.
I don't hold a view about whether Jeremy should, or shouldn't, have stood as an Independent earlier. I expect he would have thought through the 'pro's and cons' and I respect his right to arrive at a decision that he felt best at the time. What is of interest to me is now. Now, he stands as an Independent and I wish his campaign all the very best.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xxWhat about the most right-wing government in history since 2010?

Oh Jeremy Corbyn Oh Jeremy Corbyn ❤ I hope this Thursday will bring victory to Jeremy and many of the independent people. Backstabber Starmer cannot be reward for how he treated decent people like Jeremy Corbyn ,he has ruined Labour for a lot of us.
But Blair did sack George Galloway. He was one of the most vocal, if not most, against the invasion and occupation. Still to this day the "Labour" party has not recognised their grotesque treatment of him.
Blair still maintains he was right to bend over for Dubya
Galloway is vile and supported wars and brutal dictatorships. Galloway is pro war on the other side.
Corbyn is different to Galloway.
Same with Ken Livingston 😊
Love Jeremy Corbyn.
I love JC and he is the reason I joined the labour party and I left when they kicked him out but unfortunately JC does not have the minerals to start his own party. JC is to kind hearted and he has too much integrity to fight in the gutter like the rest of the politicians.
Please share this everywhere!! The ordinary British people need him !!
Genuine honest guy, one true man for the people.
Corbyn , any time
Go Jeremy Corbyn!
He should have picked a different colour to red for his posters. Unfortunately, many people will see that as him being Labour.

Starmer can't get away with what he did to Corbyn and all of us.
Not even Blair stooped that low. He only left him on the backbenches.
@@lemsip207 remember all the energy they put into those two elections to keep Corbyn out of number 10. Why would they do all that just to hand the keys to starmer a few years later unless starmer is controlled opposition IE a Tory plant.
He should have stood when it was clear this was going to happen. He missed the bus and we are all screed now .
Were I in Islington north the man would have my vote already in the bag. How he maintained his steadfastness and disposition after all that’s been heaped on him is a miracle. The man’s a giant.
The more the merrier, split the Starmer vote
Stop labour having their own Rishi as a MP. Another millionaire wants enter the parliament to help privatise the NHS
The problem is the majority of Mr Corbyns supporters who would love to have him as their MP, don’t live in Islington North, and the recent telephone poll, albeit only 500 people, has put him second place to the Labour candidate.
Well they’ll soon realise their error because they will not be serviced by the Labour Candidate. The error will be learnt, when they need the MP to support them!!!
VOTE REFORM ❤💯❤💯❤
Corbyn will walk this, labours support will seriously decline this week, too many dangers from Labour.
The dead children don’t affect me like they used to.
The images. The videos. They still disturb and horrify, but not like they did in the beginning. Not anywhere close.
And, honestly, I hate it. I hate that that part of me has been stolen.
As much as I hated having my heart kicked around all day and having nightmares all night, I’d rather have that than this decreased sensitivity.
People should not become desensitized to such horrors. People should not become accustomed to decapitated babies and small, mangled bodies. To corpses run over by tanks. To body parts carried in plastic bags by loved ones.
These things should jar you. They should rattle you to your core. But they don’t anymore. Not here.
I held onto it for as long as I could. It felt like a solemn duty, to hold on to that part of me that still screamed with an appropriate mixture of grief and outrage at the latest tiny shredded body. But desensitization sets in whether you want it to or not. That’s how they create soldiers, after all.
I hate that these pricks have amputated that part of me, and I hate that I know it will never grow back. I have been permanently disfigured inside, mutated by atrocities, all the way down here safe in the Melbourne suburbs.
And I hate that this is happening all around the world to everyone else who’s kept their gaze fixed on Gaza. All around the world humanity is being mutated. All around the world something sacred is being stolen from the hearts of good people. All around the world people are finding callouses where there used to be tenderness.
And I want my tenderness back, god damn it. I want my tenderness back.
Give me back the nightmares. Give me back the tears. Give me back the dry retching over the toilet, and the shaking under the blankets. Give me back the collapsing onto the couch and not moving for several hours until my system can recover from what my eyes just saw.
I’ll take it. I’ll take it all back again. Just give me back that soft, tender part of myself that has been withered to dust by a live-streamed genocide.
I will take good care of it. I will feed it good things. I’ll give it plenty of sunshine, cupping it delicately in my hands by the window. I will take it for walks, and let it rejoice at the children running and playing, with their parts all together and their insides on the inside.
Don’t leave me hardened and darkened like a soldier. Give me back that soft, sacred part of myself that weeps at the corpses of children, so I can behold the world gently again.
