My husband and two friends of ours are coming to Jamaica in January. I want to do an Airbnb they want resort. Do u have information I could use to inform them that an Airbnb is a safe option
And thank you so much for your video. You have been mor informative then any othe videos I’ve seen
I found it to be a good thing to put your phone & keys in a diaper & roll it up & seal it. No one wants to touch a diaper that looks like it was used 😆
😂 interesting tip! Thank you!
2.
Order JMD before travelling to Jamaica.
Pay in JMD when in Jamaica.
Why? It will improve the JMD standing within the global economy, thereby making our currency stronger.
How is this done? I bank with Navy Federal
Seriously, who are the people who hit the "Unlike" Button to these VLOGS? What's NOT to like?
They might have hit it by mistake.
Some people are just miserable.
another good tip is to have a copy of your passport, ID, travel doc, etc printed out or on a zip drive. :)
For Canadians I suggest not to use US Dollars, the exchange rate is way better to use Jamaican dollars. Your money will go further.
as with most countries
The instrumental that kicked in at the "cat calling" segment was perfectly installed for that moment 🤣👏🏿👏🏿
When buying things on roadside fruits; foods; souvenirs, etc., - pay z vendors a little extra. If there's more than 1 vendor at the location, I usually spread the purchase n let > 1 benefit.
same here that is true compassion. great tip!
They're called chartered taxis. Those are the ones you hire to transport you and anyone else in your party.
Can you hear my husband and I laughing our heads off! That story of your windshield wiper admirer is HILARIOUS!!
It's a pity u don't hv more videos I could binge watch. I'm a jamaican who still lives here I really really enjoy your videos. I don't go out a lot even b4 covid so I don't know a lot, so I've learned a lot abt my country from u. The irony of it all though, u lived here for 6 yrs going on 7 years and I hv lived here my whole life, 37 years and don't even know half of wat u know about my own country. Such a joy watching your videos always. Hope things work out for u so your kids can go to public school (or private if that's what your kids prefer) just so they become more acquainted with life/culture as a teenager in Jamaica👍🏾⚘
Thank you for the support and your feedback! Glad you find them interesting and useful! I wish I could do more videos too, maybe one day I'll find a way to do that.
you dont need to know much about your country because you live and survive there. a foreigner will always look for differences ,usually initially to complain about
🥳🥳🥳listen up folks...💚💛🇯🇲
This lady know Jamaica more than how I know my island and I was born there
I laughed so much at the guy telling you not to bring your husband 😄😄 good tips overall. Some ppl don't realize that it's not really a big deal if men call compliment you on the street in the Caribbean. Smile, no thanks and keep moving. Most of them are just bored anyway... I'm from the Caribbean
As someone who travels to Jamaica regularly, these are GREAT TIPS (most of which I learned from experience). Copy of your Documents is a FANTASTIC Tip.
I use a small backpack when I visit Jamaica. Carry it everywhere. Hard to misplace. Never carry a wallet in my pockets. I now do the same in the US too.
I’ve watched a million JA travel videos in prep for my trip and hands-down you are THE BEST! ❤
have you been?
I made the mistake of climbing Dunns River Falls without the proper footwear - it's not worth it 🤣
Ok so I am an American who travel to Jamaica every two years or so. I would love to meet you and do a video on my next trip.
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK .I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL.GOD BLESS YOU ALL🙏/..
🤣🤣🤣🤣Don't take your husband come alone!!!!!
DWL laughter at that one.
Happy Sunday irie an blessings 🙏🏿🙏🏿 , hard working female we love you 👍🏿
I hope to put these tips into action! 🙏🏼 Jamaica is my no. 1 travel destination. With ❤️ to 🇯🇲 from 🇬🇧
Ok nice of you and i do appreciate that you find my island intersting also smil
Leah Love * It. It is normally my destination from October to January. Unfortunately though, COVID-19 have me under lockdown at home here in the UK! Can't wait for this virus to bugger off!
Very helpful! Thank you!
Hope you make it I'm going to Jamaica to live there so I can make enough money so I can help my families back in America in California because people are being rude and disrespecting me I'm young and I'm in my twenties and I'm 23 it is not fair to be a black man in America
America's changing but it's not changing fast enough and I need help and I'm young and I'm not making enough money I got a disability ADHD I'm dyslexic it's very hard to stay focused when you're upset and depressed I suffer from depressed and drum once in a while when someone piss me off I have this secondary personality when when someone irritates me that side will get like optimistic or denied all the bull crap that I'm hearing because it's just wrong you just can't be a black person and disrespect gay people and you see what white people are doing to black people so you're falling the same routine and every line of history and I choose to not be president towards gay people or prejudice towards white people or any other race it's just I do not want to be white or racist m*********** or a racist black person it's like if my ancestors believe in this s*** and they must been racist too because I do not want to be a prick ass mother f***** all my life I'm a honest hard-working man but I just don't believe in America no more I gave up on America like I'm talking to literally other black people around the world and they're telling me crazy it's like all I'm hearing is like things about America but it's like they're killing black people I'm watching this it's like all I hear is like everybody in America's strong up Dead brain cells and I'm like bro I'm African native American I'm not doing that s*** it's the African Americans are doing that I call myself African native American it's a difference I'm not struck it's the others so for me it to be young and I was very smart to talk to my mom as a human being but other than those who will not talk to me as a human being it's like the treating your kids like s*** over here in America and it's like if I was somewhere else I'll treat my kid like an adult even if they're still a kid I'll be like a man when you hit 12 or 13 you're done you're grown I hope when you're 17 you'll be thinking about filling your own place that's real father s*** my kids moving out early
A lot of people leave their common sense at home when they're on vacation. Have fun but use precautions. Great editing per usual.
only an idiot goes to another country expecting the same as that which they left behind
One of Jamaica’s biggest advocate. Keep up the good work 👍🏾
Great video. Now i can just send this video to visitors 🤩👌🏽👍🏽💯
I am so happy that you are enjoying the most beautiful place in the world ( my opinion ) Have to live my over I would not leave jamaica. I have a great job, but life sucks in America.
Life's too short and unpredictable to not pursue your dreams ✨
I like tips 26 and 27,,, great, this is Jamaica 🇯🇲! Not the rest of the world 🌎
After having Jamaica be a destination on my travel list, since I was 15 years old, I finally get to go to the country on January 31st! I am beyond excited
I hope you had an amazing time.
@@kimkim72 I had such a great time. I walked up and down Constant Spring Road, which seemed to make the locals feeling comfortable because they thought it was too far for me to be walking into dangerous, but I still had a good time anyway. I got to see Kingston, Port, Antonio, and Clarendon. I miss the patties!
you dont need a foreigner telling you how to prepare unless you are afraid
You or a real Jamaican wow
My biggest cost in Jamaica.
1. Food. Shop local markets if u can,. Supermarkets r not cheap.
2.Taxis. Find local driver and get his number. Use him exclusively. Or take root taxi for short trips. Use Knutsford bus service for trips between cities. Car Rentals r very expensive.
Thanks Irie these are very useful to know.🇬🇧🇯🇲👍🏾👍🏾
Been my Dream destination since I was 15 yrs. Old. I am now almost 46😒😔Its more than PAST TIME to go. Probably won't want to come back to America. I would rather marry a local there & retire for ever in Jamaica🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
@aprilriddle4740
Go for it! You never know unless you try.
Irina, would be great if U make another video about supermarkets in Jamaica. Next time show us a supermarket in Kingston :D
Greetings from Brazil!
I think I’ve watched 5 videos on how to prepare before going to Jamaica, and this has been the most informative and pleasant video yet. So thank you ☺️
I've been jamaica many times always something new
Love the info thank you Cant wait to go back in April this is our second trip we love it. You're not kidding about traveling to excursions we stayed at Iberostar and went to the Bob Marley museum it took an hour +!
Great video 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Hello Irie, thank you for another good vlog on Jamaica. I had to laugh when you said teh "wind screen washer told you to come without the husband", that is so typical of a comedic Jamaican man, as you know he meant no offence, though others would 'call the police' LOL.Thanks again for this vlog, it is very informative.
See this is why I love your content. You know the stress I go through. It is surprising that people don't know that your bank needs to know if you will be in a different country. The stress that I had to endure from first time vacationers when they are under the impression the bank must always be tracking them so they should know automatically release the card. I used to work for a 3rd party company that works for many banks and our job is to determine whether fraud or if the card is limited and release it.
The amount of times I have an angry vacationer screaming in my ears for them not taking the time and investigate the place before going and informing your bank that your going to a foreign country.
It's crazy how many people do NOT know by now that they MUST inform their Banks / Credit Card Companies when they are travelling and plan to use their cards. Credit Card Companies are so good now in informing of their Fraud Protection, and Travel Alerts is part of that.
Yes not even just leaving the country though, even if you are just going from one state to another far away state in the US you should still tell your bank!
Thank you for this excellent video, it was awesome. Your videos are always interesting and informative
Sweet beautiful lovely thank you for sharing your videos with us thanks for the nice words take care be safe bless up
Very helpful and educational video🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲❤❤❤
Thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos. More blessings!
Always a fan for your videos...found out a couple interesting things. Scotiabank bank accounts are best for Canadians. No exchange Commissions for Scotiabank clients from Canada at Scotiabank ATMs.
I found that out after trying NCB.
I usually leave a copy of Passport n bank cards at home b4 traveling.
Good tip 👍🏾
Gud mawnin, Irie. Hope all is well...When will you do a video in and from deep country like Nine Miles, Aboukir, Mackenzie, etc.
@yaadman that would be great think that could come under community tourism.
Blessed Sunday, Ma'am 🇯🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲💥💯🙏😄
Great content this week as always
Wow iris you are becoming quite and expert on Jamaica. I am always very impress with the depth of your knowledge about JA. Keep it up keep it up we have your attention. Great topic and video. Nice one again.👏👏👏
The pounds worth more than the US dollars so I will use the British pounds. Thanks for the tips
Yes
Do they take the British Pound or Euros in Jamaica? To me it seems as if they only take US Dollars (other than Jamaican Dollars); especially the locals.
@@trevorsteer7331 yes some will do
@@trevorsteer7331 You change it when you go down to Jamaica to Jamaican dollars at western union or the the bank
@@viragravesande6920 The problem is.. If you bring cash - pounds, you will have to change them first, meaning - instead of going to your resort/airbnb - you will have to look for Cambio. If you bring USD, you won't have to do that. Sure, pound is worth more than a dollar, that's why you'd get more USD when converting pounds in the UK. Also note, bank is a no-no for currency exchange, you would lose an hour by going there with all the lines and Western Union - about 20-30 mins. And the problem is - the exchange rate in a bank or western union is really bad, whether you're changing pounds or USD or any other currency. That's why I mentioned to bring small cash USD so you won't have to run to a cambio, and then simply use your card in an ATM (when your money is pounds, but you simply withdraw in Jamaican dollars, because unlike banks/western union, ATM has a better exchange rate from pounds to JMD).
Yes Irie manners and respect is very important to JA people, especially to the elders, greeting someone in the morning and evening is very common. In the UK people only greet you if they know you.
Irene, keep going, u r on the right
cultural pathway. Glad your husband was "passively reactive " to the boldness of the windshield washer, however rude he was.
Your both politeness was the right vaccine to the virus of his arrogance.
Also , for private drivers, take a picture of the person, vehicle and have them hold a object so you have their finger print
Great idea. Send it to someone close. In South Africa my Uber is set up so every time i get in a car message is sent to my husband . Can’t be too safe nowadays.
Loved your tips, thanks 😊
Excellent and helpful advice Irie.

lol you are amazing Keep up the good work
Спасибо Ирина. Как всегда полезно, понятно и очень вовремя.
I'm Jamaican. I handle the cataloging with a funny comment or something witty and they appreciate it. Like when they say "mi like yuh inno", and I say "yes...if I were you I'd like me too"...or like the time I told someone u already had 4 husbands. He asked to be #5 and we had a good laugh. I also told another man, I'd use him and hurt him...he begged me to use him but leave him with a bus fare at least. 😂
Irie very good information..
Great video you guys have inspired me to start my own UA-cam channel
Lovely. Happy Sunday Irina
Irie great video wow nice info
Re: losing one’s passport etc. I fully agree with what you said. Also some underestimate how overwhelming the heat is when you just arrive off the plane from colder climates. So I can totally understand their confusion in the heat especially at the airport. But after a few days your body usually acclimatizes.
Great tips and advice Irina what you saying will definitely give visitors a better understanding about Jamaica's culture and also the safety of the tourist well being ... marvelous "great great" job Queen Irina thank you .. 🙏👍😊🔥🔥😄
Excellent video my girl👌
