i don't understand any of the hate that the lost world gets, i think it's a great film and incredibly entertaining. yeah, the gymnastics scene was corny as hell, but this is a good film
Jp3 is a genuinely bad film, acting is awful besides Sam Neill and the guy who plays Billy, it is hardly connected to the 1st and 2nd movie, and even includes a spit in the face to fans with Elly being with someone other than Dr Grant, even after the development in the 1st. The Lost World is a good movie, it just tried to do what the first one did, only too much. The dinosaur action was good, 90% of the acting was great, characters that work well and cast perfectly, effects were better than the first film, due to same techniques, but better CGI. The raptors didn't know how to hunt humans because unlike the first movie, they never came into contact with humans before, lots of stuff makes sense when you take other details into consideration, the only stupid parts of the movie are certain plot points and character decisions. I'd easily give The Lost World a 7/10 or 8/10, first movie would get a 10/10, with the third getting 5/10.
I'd give it about a 7/10, it's good, but not great. Really feels like they missed some good opportunities with what they could've put on screen, still super entertaining and looked stunning.
In your comparison to the elevator thing, I thought JP3 was the irritating one. The mom in that movie was one of the most obnoxious characters I've seen in my many years of watching movies.
One thing I wanted to point out with Amanda. Remember the scene where she pulls a phone up and puts it down, without pushing "any" buttons! That scene irritates me to death when I see that scene.
I didn't know so many people disliked the San Diego scene. That was the best part of the film and really makes The Lost World stand out from the other films in the franchise. Sure it's not in the book and the pterosaur scene does sound cool but this was way cooler.
My best guess why surviving dinos on Site A wasn't brought up was more to do with sheer numbers. According to the maps, Isla Sorna is about 4x bigger than Isla Nublar and that, combined with having a ton of dinosaurs as a start to grow from; meant it would have far more individuals and species than Nublar. Besides a lot of dinosaurs on Nublar that were especially dangerous had very low numbers that couldn't grow much, if at all, anyways (only 1 T.rex).
I love your videos Bandit, and i think it would be amazing if you did a mega review on the star wars movies. Maybe in December when episode 7 comes out. keep up the good work!
One thing I will say about Jurassic Park sequels is that they each have they're own good share of well directed action horror scenes like for instance: - The water fall scene from Jurassic Park II when they all have to stand up against a wall and not get eaten - The time the T-Rex crashed the plane and they all had to scramble out of the plane (I don't care what the haters say that scene scared the shit out of me when I was a kid)
7:40 Actually, the "T. Rex in San Diego" scene was Spielberg's paying homage to the 1925 silent film 'The Lost World' based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's book, in which the film had an evil Brontosaurus rampaging through London in its ending. While the first film is perfect, I still believe it should've shown the Pterodactyls attacking Alan and the two kids while on a raft on their way back to the Visitors Center, as described in the book.
It's official; Bandit is a fan of the Nostalgia Critic. I suspected it during the 7 Reasons Jurassic World Will Rock and the What The Phantom Menace Could've Been videos, but this actually confirmed it.
Apparently, there is a 'Restricted Zone' in Jurassic World where the last surviving dinosaurs from Jurassic Park lived, and that's where they found the old-ass tyrannosaur.
This is some really brutal nitpicking if I ever saw it, this film is nothing short of a masterpiece just like the first film, and there's no doubt Jurassic Park III is definitely the worst film in the entire franchise! Period.
10:57 Despite the fact that in the final scene when the Velociraptors were surrounding Alan, Sattler, and the kids, they just stood there waiting for that one Raptor to attack until the T-rex came in and grabbed the Velociraptor or does that not count?
Great review. Great points about the Vince Vaughn character. The filmmakers vilify the hunters without just cause. But, that wasn't a Godzilla roar used in "Duel" and "Jaws". It was just some generic dinosaur stock sound effect. Sadly, it was the same one reused in "Jaws: The Revenge".
It's unfortunate about the movie version of Sarah Harding, because novel Sarah Harding is a freaking badass who saves Ian Malcolm and is pretty much the action hero. She's constantly an inspiring and comforting leader. She helps everyone remain calm, and figures out solutions far quicker too. She's essentially Robert Muldoon and Alan Grant, but as an arguably better character!
I heard that Spilberg tried to direct the 98 godzilla film but the producction wad so messy that all fall appart. As a huge Godzilla film , I think that Edwards did a great job, but a film with Spilberg would be wesome!!!!
The thing is with the Lost World is it's dumb, BUT it's entertaining dumb. I really loved the movie as a kid. Though watching it now as an adult, I see that yea it's dumb and one of Spielberg's duds, but the thing is with Spielberg is he always goes big before he goes home even on Bad films. Also at least in the Lost World when most of the extras got killed you at least got to feel the weight of their deaths because you got to know who they were. Like Dieter being a sadistic asshole who got what he deserved. Burke being a know it all idiot who's cowardice almost pushed Malcom's daughter into the Rex's mouth trying to get rid of a milk snake he thought was a coral snake. And Ludlow getting a death fitting for his character, corporate scum bag trying to have his way with these animals only for the animals to have their way with him. Compared to JPIII's Mercenaries who were just there to rescue some kid and they weren't even going to be paid for it in the long run. When you think about it, their death's are actually cruel and mean spirited. Almost as bad as Eddie's in LW. They weren't some bad guys trying to kill the president with Dinosaurs, they were just some cocky hired guns duped into a rescue mission on a dangerous island for free. At least in the Lost World the mercenaries there knew what they were getting into, and they were going to be paid. The Mercs in JPIII are just there to pad out the kill count.
I think they intended that the plants have lysine in them as the deficiency is incase they get off so when they get off the island they will not get the lysine and die
I don't want to sound like a snob, and if I do, I apologize, but the roars at the end of Duel and Jaws are actually from a crappy '50s B-movie called The Land Unknown, originally made by a T. Rex.

I can't stand this one. Vince Vaughn killing humans to save dinosaurs may be the dumbest idea ever. "Hey you" kick a raptor... wow. Hands on a wheel at the end.... killed by....the chained up T-rex under the ship?!? The third film is actually fun. I don't get the hate. The main character is supposed to be an Indiana Jones archetype. pterodactyl, fun action. JP3 gets 3 points... Lost World stutters it's way to 0.

Lost World is a bad movie. Its just so unbelevably preachy with its message & having the characters being morons threwout the whole movie, did any one re read the script? JPIII is technically worse, due to how unoriginal it is (Beside the bird cage scene, but thats straight from the novel.) Heres to JP World...I guess.
Wasn't Steven going through a divorce at this time..... see he made the female in the first movie smart strong in the second he made her dumb and not as strong maybe even clumsy.... I just feel like it might be that
Sarah Harding in the film is a fusion of two characters in the book, Richard Levine a Palaeontologist with no real world skills who travels to the Island with no backup leading to their rescue, perpetually insisting they have to "respect" the natural order of the Island despite the dangers around them and Sarah Harding Malcom's Ex who studies dangerous animals in Africa. Whilst book Harding knows nothing about Dinosaurs her knowledge of predators keeps her alive and generally she's the probably the main hero of the Lost World, for instance she goes to the Island to rescue Malcom after she doesn't hear from the others, carries Malcom out of the trailers going over the cliffs as his leg injury from the 1st book leaves him unable to climb and she's the one who sends out the message to the helicopter. To this date I've never figured out why they fused the characters in such a bizarre way

NC doesn't do any research, he's reviews movies based on his Nostalgic mind, hence the name Nostalgia Critic
The thing I hate about nostalgia critic I'd
That he seems to only review movies he hates, just so he can seem funny as he goes into fake tantrums

To this date I've never figured out why they fused the characters in such a bizarre way
It’s the best movie in the series
