For all we know, the Spinosaurus could've had a very similar upbringing to the I-Rex, but we would never know that because they don't bother to take the time to set up any sort of backstory like that. In JP1, people talk about the T-Rex, we get some impression of what she's going to be like even before she shows up. In JW, they do much of the same with the I-Rex, and that's why it works where the Spinosaurus (still one of my favorite dinos) fails. It's not a character because they don't build it up as one. It's just a shiny new prop made to sell toys.
***** Oh, I like the Spinosaurus as a real life creature. In JP3, though, they just made it the monster of the week. Like I said in my first post, they could've taken the time to delve into its backstory, tried to make you understand why it chases the insignificant humans all around the island like a serial killer, but the makers of JP3 didn't care enough about that, or even coming up with a plot that was that all that interesting. They just wanted to sell those toys you say are oh so great and didn't want to wait a few more years to make another movie. They take every chance in that movie to say "look at how awesome our NEW dinosaur is compared to that lame old T-Rex!" but at least in JW it's self-aware enough to be somewhat justified because it's part of the actual plot and they still give the old dinosaurs their due. If anything, I'm tired of people picking on The Lost World.
***** I just appreciate that they didn't try to make the raptors the bad guys again. I like that they're still depicted as being animals, the conflict being whether to follow and trust their natural instinct to hunt down anything smaller and different then them, which includes Owen, or to trust and follow their wonderful Alpha who's raised them since they first hatched. I mean let's face it, Owen's basically their dad, and they almost forgot that because, yeah, animals are kinda flippant. I mean, when Blue jumped in at the last minute, I didn't take that as her trying to save Rexy. She didn't give a shit about Rexy. She was just pissed at the I-Rex for killing her siblings and was desperately fighting for the only "pack" she had left (still Owen). She saw an opening, and she went for it. Rexy and Blue weren't TRYING to work together, it just sorta worked out that way because they both had it in for the I-Rex, and I guarantee you that if they ever meet again, Rexy won't give a shit about their little team up and will EAT Blue like a T-Rex does. A real life Spinosaurus doesn't look anything like the one in JP3. A real life Velocipator is tiny compared to the ones in these movies. As they had the sense to point out in JW, every single Dinosaur that has ever been created for Jurassic Park or Jurassic World is a freak of nature, a weird ass mutant that only somewhat resembles the real thing. I think that was really smart of them, especially since it's been the fans' go-to defense of the series for years, now. The I-Rex was just them taking this a little too far, and that's the point of the story. It wasn't just the upbringing, that only made her worse! She was a damned psycho from the moment she was born because all of the super aggressive animal genes clumped together in her brain. She was mad at the world and had no clue why, she just had all these genes telling her "Bite! Snap! Tear! Catch! KILL!!" For all we know, not only is she deranged and violent as hell, but she probably even has a bit of brain damage. And as I've kept saying since the original post... that's the main thing I think separates this from JP3, is that they actually set the I-Rex up and let you get to know her and understand her a little bit, same as they did with Rexy in the first movie. If the Spinosaurs was like everything I just described in the previous paragraph... I would be fine with it. They had a chance to do something like that with the Spinosaurus, but they blew it. They don't make any effort to flesh the Spinosaurus out because, again, they just didn't care that much at the time. It just appears, it's there, it's gone, boom. Movie's over.
I rex? Sorry but this piece of shit isnt a good villian. He looks boring, the reason he exist is stupid, the reason he escapes is even stupider and he is still an animal, dont give him humanlike threads... T-Rex was an animal whitout motivation besides pure instinct, and it was fine.
Will u do the mega review on the Star Wars franchise even the prequels plus the new movies because I guess this mega review series is for franchises plus hope u do one for the next Jurassic park. P.s. I don't speak English on regular umm basis
Bandit, you have recently become one of my absolute favourite UA-camrs, I watched both the mega-reviews of Man of Steel and Prometheus a couple of weeks ago and since worked my way through practically all of your other videos. Thank you for the hard work
12:10 Funny, how after 'Jurassic Park' came out, paleontologists figured out that Velociraptors were revealed to be "bird-like", so Alan Grant's theory of comparing the Raptors to birds was, in a way, accurate?
Seb CS:GO No way, I don't hate it but it just doesn't compare to the first 2. None of the characters are interesting, the movie feels way too much like a monster movie I mean the Spinosauras is following them like the terminator and keeps showing up at every spot. What the hell is that all about?? and it's animatronics are clunky as hell. Sad considering it's nearly 10 years after the first but has a worse looking dinosaur. And like the guy in the video mentioned, it has no soul. You don't get that sense of wonder and excitement like the first or second it just feels like a rehash with a bigger meaner dinosaur. I'll admit I like the look of the raptors which many people didn't but that's about it.
True but there are other factors like camera angles and the right mixture of effects within the shot like for superhero movies obviously no one can move like a superhero or a Jedi so the right mixture is needed
Your 6:00 minute mark complaint could easily be for the end of Lost World where the boat driver is killed when the T-rex was locked up, Maybe it's an ongoing gag where all boat drivers die off screen for no reason.
I agree, I love 2 & 3, 3 wasn't as great as 1 & 2 but it was still a great film. Personally I like 2 more than 1 but it's by like a tiny bit, it's like I love 2 more by like 1% or something. All three films have great and memorial moments, with 1 and 2 have more than 3, at least to me they do.
SirGeeeO Yes, thank you! I at one point watched the entire BttF trilogy almost every night. I love 2 for its first act set in 2015, as it's now funny how it's completely different from the 2015 we live in now (Still waiting for that Hoverboard). And 3 is good because of its western setting, and a fitting close to the trilogy.
At least the T-rex was like an animal and not like a serial killer hunting down the main cast. It was there to have a shiny new dinosaur that is bigger, badder, and has more teeth. Now THAT is boring!
i personally like jp3 more than jw and i do not completely agree that spino was 4 legged I believe that there was a four legged spino but a different member of the spinosaurid family and spy no used his arms to lean on it to give his back a break from all that weight but was biped
While Spinosauruses did eat fish, they didn't walk on four legs. It was found out this year that the 2014 bones of Spinosaurus that seemed showed it was a knucle walker were actaully from a differnent spinosaurid called Sigilmassasaurus.
There is a theory that random T-rex is the baby T-rex from the last film. The baby T-rex is significantly smaller than the T-rex we know in Isla Nublar and they both are both green. So basically, the Spinosaurus essentially killed an adolescent T-rex just to make Spiny look dangerous. Also, Jack Horner admits that the T-rex would have won.
Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's because it was a sequel to one of the most influential films of all time. A film that revolutionized filmmaking with its CGI and Practical Effects mixed together, with wonderful characters and a timeless story of man vs nature. A movie that holds dear to so many people's childhood, and then the studio makes this underwhelming and boring mess of a film. The only good scene was the Pteradon sequence, but that was based on the novel.
The T-rex's maximum bite force is almost 12,800 pounds, making the bone explode. So that one chomp on Spinosaurus' neck would have killed him. Jack Horner probably knew that and made the T-rex significantly smaller than the T-rex from the previous films to have the new dinosaur "dangerous". Yeah as dangerous as a bully picking on a little kid.
Me and my friends watched jurassic park 3 at the end of the school year and One of my friends even said that the Spinosaurus looked fake in some scenes
Hey Bandit, I like how you spoke about the CGI versus Practical effects, however I recently watched the Jurassic Park series again and realized that while it may not of made sense why the Spinosouras was on site B, if you can remember Grant and Billy talk about not remembering certain species being on Ingens list and Grant says it makes him wonder what else they were up to, the Spinosouras could've been only a baby or a young Dinosaur in the second movie and since it wasn't on the list that's why the hunter didn't know about it being on site B in lost world. Also it wasn't the Teridactals or however you spell it, that killed the boat crew in the beginning it was something that could skid across the rocks hidden in the fog. Now what Dinosaur do you think that would be? I'm just saying. But before I knew, I was thinking the same exact thing that you were.
I think it was implied that the boat drivers are killed by the spinosaurus? I don't know. It can swim or whatever. (Also these are great I love the other mega reviews you did keep it up you're fantastic)
DoomStone Productions Derek Pratt Yes, that makes total sense. Cos it does have that scene in the river, so it can swim in the movie......hmmmm....kinda makes u wonder why it isn't swimming around the wide open ocean then....oh well. Good explanation tho
Dominick Franco Im sorry haha. Its just Im convinced the only reason those movies exist is cos Glooney and Bitt just cant get enough of themselves. Its like being INSIDE there own egos. Where everything is crafted around making them look awesome. Its like the equivalent of a kid jumping up and down waving his arms for attention, while shouting at the top of his lungs "LOOK AT HEEEEE!!!!!!!! LOOK HOW COOL I AM!!!!!!!!! IM AWESOME! IM AWESOME! IM AWESOME!"
Wait a minute... Spielberg did eventually combine the "Go Motion" and CGI in the first film, I remember Spielberg saying that he captured the motion on models connected with sensors
Jack Davids Im not sure exactly, but the go-motion guy went on to help the cg team with doing the movements of the digital designs (there's some pretty funny clips of the cg team running around pretending to be dinosaurs, in order to understand the movements) so maybe part of that was also in using the go-motion puppets as well, like u said
The reason the Spinosaurus coudent get through the Metal door is because if you look at the cise comparison, the door is to low to smash efectively. Because it only has the option to smash it with it's snout.
Pretty sure there was supposed to be a part of how the step dad died. The raptors grabbed his leg and tore half of his body and he died like that. The kid ran off into a bush or someshit and came back to see compys eating his body.
Spaceblazer Haha no I didnt. But couldnt he get that kid to cut him down? He was a pretty resourceful little dude, Im sure he could handle it. Haha I think we might have put more thought into this right now, than the film makers did in the whole course of the movie :D
I think he was killed by a pack of compsognathus and to be fair about the spinosaur they explain in the jurasic world that all the dinosaurs are mutant hybrids and if their DNA was pure they would look very diferent.
Fellowship of the Ring didn't have much Gollum in it, and when it did, it was CGI. The motion capture milestone wasn't until Two Towers the next year. Aside from that error, great review.
Great series. Some really cool insights in this video. Nice to see some real research going into your videos, you never disappoint. Id love a Terminator mega review series if you have the time. I know its a lot of work. Keep up the great work dude!
10:01 Actually spinosuarus did use to look like what it is from the movie. And it use to have shorter arms, the Movie was made in 2001. Your statement could of been right if this movie was made in 2013. I just hope you know that..
Actually Bandit, nobody has ever uncovered a complete Spinosaurus forelimb before, so the hypothesis that it walked on all fours is still just that, a hypothesis. But I did agree with you. Looking at the fossil record, especially the few teeth we found, it was obvious this was a specialized fish eater. Its fight with the T-Rex, therefore, is ridiculous on so many levels, but mostly because the Rex (whose record is well defined I might add) has BONE CRUSHING jaw structure that allows it to kill any thing simply by bitting the neck (which it did to the Spinosaurus in the movie). The fight, in reality, would have ended right then and there.
When I was a kid, I was a massive Dinossaur geek (I still am) so I spent a big part of my childhood looking for information about Dinosaurs. While doing that, I found one called Spinosaurus that easily won my heart, because my favourites were allways the big badass carnivors. Since back then the information about him was that he was the ultimate carnivore dinosaur, he easily became my favourite. As you said, the Spinosaurus fossils are one of the most rare to find and because of that there wasn't much thing about that species anywhere, like merchandise an that kind of stuff. So when I heard that the main dinosaur in Jurassic Park 3 was going to be the Spinosaurus, the hype came. I couldn't wait to see the movie. Obviously I was really disappointed, not because the movie was bad, because I was a kid back then and I didn't even know that bad movies exist. I was just disappointed because there wasn't enough Spinosaurus for me in the movie. I actually cheared for the Spinosaurus in the fight... I just wanted him to take over the "Dino Throne" from the T-Rex... Shame on me. ahahah btw I'm loving all your content, keep up the good work!
Dang shame they didn't go with the stop-motion dinos, they looked really good, better than I remember from when I saw the documentaries back in the '90s.
What if the spinosaurus was a baby when The Lost World happened. People do think that the T-rex in JP3 was the baby T-rex in The Lost World. Just an idea
Aaron Mackellar So he was just dangling there for days shouting "Bring me some food! Get me a drink of water! Please!" and the kid was like "No! Mwarhahahaha!" maybe throwing rocks at him from time to time? Thats dark.......I LOVE IT! XD
Thank you I try but what I meant is maybe the kid had to run from dinosaurs and then the kid couldn't find him again but I'm going with what you said instead because it's funny
I also have theory on the trex that was killed by spinousaurues was the baby trex from the second movie because the trex we see in jp3 is smaller than the previous trexes
P. Seud Onym No just no, Lost World was good but it was just a king kong rip off. JP had an original story and wasn't just an excuse to kill people with T-rexs
Isn't it theorized that the Tyrannosaurus was not an Apex predator but more along the lines of a scavenger? basically a giant garbage disposal eating the remains of fallen carcass' that other dinosaurs can't eat or digest.
Not to be nickpicky, but there is no such thing as a pterodactyl. The name on the pterosaurs in the series are Pteranodon (the ones in this film and the one picking the girl up in JW) and Dimorphodon (the smaller one in JW).
from what i heard some of the scenes in this movie were actually in 1 of the books but they decided not to include it. i guess since they put it in this movie we can see why they didnt lol
The excuse for dinosaur design is the genetic slot machine they used to fill oin gaps. No feathers -> amphibian genes bigger specimen than fossils of same species -> no pure DNA In that sense the dinosaurs were more realistic than you'd expected. If we recreated dinosaurs we probably used bird embryos as a base and switched on and off some genes. The result was no actual dinosaur but a disfigured bird with certain dino aspects. So, whatever difference occurs in design compared to current knowledge and conclusions of the looks, it can be blamed on the genes. Like they did in Jurassic World. Camouflage? Sure, got squid DNA Low body temeprature? Sure, some frog DNA etc.
When the Marines come at the end, it's because that one scene Ellie's husband worked for the State Department. It's very hard too miss. Opening scene was Pteranodons. Remember in The Lost World we saw some flying at the end with the Stegosaurus and T. Rex? Yeah those. An official trivia told me that, it was just removed from the script for I believe budget reasons. Isla Sorna is significantly larger than Isla Nublar. Roland Tembo would be hunting for the T. Rex because, the same way that bigger dinos have been discovered, it's still the king. Top dog in public mind. Good point though, never thought of it. Yes, Spino was very inaccurate. They did get the part that it swam though. Somehow. That Pteranodon Aviary scene was so good. Amazing. Great video though!
it din't just walk on it's arms it could walk on it's back legs also baryonx (anouther spinosaurid) has been found with other dino bones in it's stomach soo spinosaurs probbly did
Action Faction Actually, I wasn't sure whether I should bother, since I already covered a lot of it..........but now you've convinced me, so I will :D gotta REPRESENT for the wasteland!
JP3 had a really weak plot, thats what let it down, I frigging hate Tia Leoni in this movie, shes soo annoying!! Only movie I liked her in was (no not Bad Boys she was annoying in that too), a movie called Deep Impact and only really cause she dies in that but I liked her character in that and the death was unexpected and therefor kind of appropriated. But yeh shes just really spoils this movie too, also the awesome looking Spinosaurus is hardly arnd, they should have had more scenes of that dinosaur, but above all I just really wanted/expected them to bring Alan bk in a better way than how they did, simply tricking him into it was bullshit.
Loved the use of Eminems Role Model in the background! Great review, I gotta agree, Jurassic Park 3 is worse than Lost World, despite the pterodactyls^^
QUANTUM OF GOLDBLUM! That. Would. Be. AMAZING.
***** I was looking for an excuse to include that picture XD I just HAD too
Oh hello.

spinosauruskin Indeed.

Yes !! Been waiting for this review +banditincorporated for a relatively small channel (for now ) your videos are so well made

These had been REALLY excellent reviews Bandit. Congrats.
Sorry but practical effects are better, CGI only works for scenery and certain large scale shots but practical effects are always superior.
True but there are other factors like camera angles and the right mixture of effects within the shot like for superhero movies obviously no one can move like a superhero or a Jedi so the right mixture is needed
Martin Cardenas As you stated a mixture but practical effects always seem to work better with creatures, especially up close.
1980Triumph What about Theodore Rex?
GameStation3 Never saw it, is that the movie with Whoopie Goldberg?
1980Triumph
Yes. Watch the Nostalgia Critic review of it, if you want.
this movie actually made me like the spino more than the trex as a kid and I still like it more today
I find Jurassic Park 3 to be underrated!
Ya, I really like practical effects but sometimes cg is better.
Jace Hackworth when?
Narrator The force awakens had a lot of good looking cg
Spinosaurus is cool
I love your analogies man ahaha, leftovers, perfect description haha
Enjoyed it very much! Nice to see how you put hard work in these reviews. Keep it up!
Your 6:00 minute mark complaint could easily be for the end of Lost World where the boat driver is killed when the T-rex was locked up, Maybe it's an ongoing gag where all boat drivers die off screen for no reason.
this is actually my favorite of the 3 lol
TheNastyBAGL why?
Back to the Future mega reviews. 2 and 3 always get a lot of grief. i love them all, but it may just be looking through a nostalgic lens.
SirGeeeO I love all of them too. But three needs a little bit of work to be honest.
SirGeeeO 2 is considered possibly better than the first... (Not me saying it is)
I loved part two the best. I've made my peace that I'll never have a hoverboard, but I loved the rest of the future stuff.

The reason spinosuras killed Rex is because they were showing us that spino is a grater threat
It contradicts The Lost World with Roland saying he will hunt the fiercest animal on the island which was, of course, was the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
At least the T-rex was like an animal and not like a serial killer hunting down the main cast. It was there to have a shiny new dinosaur that is bigger, badder, and has more teeth. Now THAT is boring!

That part at the beginning of the video, were the T-rex kills the Spinosaurus, that was even stupider the the fight in the movie!
Hey can you do Mega Review on the Ocean's Eleven movies?
Dominick Franco No because those FILMS are THE WORST MOVIES EVER MADE!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I really dont like those movies hahaha
It's okay, I'm fine with that.
It's cool I understand.
Because it only has the option to smash it with it's snout.
pteranodon, pteranodon, pteranodon!!!!!!!!!
Hey Bandit ,are you still doing the second star wars , has It should have been. It basically my Canon for what really happened .
The dad may have died because dinosaurs ate him. What's wrong with assuming what's not on screen?
He was hanging in a tree did the spino just nibble off the skin and leave his skeleton?
Nate_Spartan
I don't know. I was just spitballing.
Pretty sure there was supposed to be a part of how the step dad died. The raptors grabbed his leg and tore half of his body and he died like that. The kid ran off into a bush or someshit and came back to see compys eating his body.
Maybe Ben was injured in the fall, and died from his injuries. Did you ever think about that? HUH?! DID YOU?! Sorry... I lost it there.
Actually, the 4 legged spinosaurus has not been 100 percent proven, so I really couldn't care about what type of spinosaurus they featured.
Keep up the great work dude!
eggsandchips91 My buddy BillyT800 did a mega review of the Terminator franchise
thank you!! u are right how come that dinosaur could destroy that big fence and yet a simple door was to strong for him.
10:01 Actually spinosuarus did use to look like what it is from the movie. And it use to have shorter arms, the Movie was made in 2001. Your statement could of been right if this movie was made in 2013. I just hope you know that..
Gollum actually appeared in cg form in Two Towers not Fellowship.
Interestingly it was a found to be a mishearing mistake on the legs of a spino so the spino did stand up on there back legs like in the movie.
What about Mosasaurus?
Whats a morsel?
jurassic parks affects work because they used practical for close ups and CGI for far away shots like the brachiosaurus
The spinosaurus killed the boat guys
+melissa ess-haghabadi I always assumed it was raptors, they quickly jumped on the boat grabbed the guys then jumped off.
6:00 6:30 spino spino spino ¨SPINO SPINO SPINO HE CAN SWIM
I love these mega reviews
I wish this show had a podcast
They also have retcon the spino to be a failed hybrid that dr. Wu made
Dang shame they didn't go with the stop-motion dinos, they looked really good, better than I remember from when I saw the documentaries back in the '90s.
the t-rex in the third film was the child trex from the second movie.
Jurassic Park III's message is "Maridge is hard"
Maybe the Spino killed them quickly or some sort of swimming dinosaur or marine reptile???
Can you do an Indiana Jones mega review series? 😊
Maybe it was those ninja raptors that got those guys on the boat
Plot? What plot?
The Spinosaur was In gens first hybrid
That was great dude!
I love the mega reviews!!!
What if the spinosaurus was a baby when The Lost World happened. People do think that the T-rex in JP3 was the baby T-rex in The Lost World. Just an idea
Maybe the step dad died of starvation cause he couldn't get down
Aaron Mackellar So he was just dangling there for days shouting "Bring me some food!
I have a toy spino, but I love the baryonx, can't wait to see it in Jurassic world fallen kingdom!!
Gonna get crucified for this but....
Lost World>Jurassic Park>JP3
P. Seud Onym No just no, Lost World was good but it was just a king kong rip off. JP had an original story and wasn't just an excuse to kill people with T-rexs
River Phoenix if he likes the lost world more than that is his opinion :P
Yep. You shall be crucified for saying the absolute worst movie in the franchise is the best.
Ryan R. so the travesty that JP3 was is better than Lost World? not in a million years man
P. Seud Onym Don't believe me? Ask the Nostalgia Critic! He and I have the same opinion on it.
Remember this is jurassic park the velociraptor is the site of a Human
By the way, the crew was killed by the Spinosaurus sense it could swim and stay underwater for periods of time.
And Sarah said something about the T-Rex being the second biggest dinosaur on the island.
What about the brachiosaurus
The brachiosaurus is the biggest dinosaur on the island
Do I Herat Role Model by Eminem in the background? Yes I do, and I love it!
Isn't it theorized that the Tyrannosaurus was not an Apex predator but more along the lines of a scavenger? basically a giant garbage disposal eating the remains of fallen carcass' that other dinosaurs can't eat or digest.
That was determined to be false long ago. Trex was actually a super predator.
***** Oh I see, interesting. I kinda liked that idea tho :(
I'm hyped for the fourth movie, let's hope it's better than this one.
Not to be nickpicky, but there is no such thing as a pterodactyl. The name on the pterosaurs in the series are Pteranodon (the ones in this film and the one picking the girl up in JW) and Dimorphodon (the smaller one in JW).
I detest this film anyone that thinks this is better than Lost World lack logic
YESSSSSSSSSS ALLEN
I think the crew died to a big wave which knock them off the boat
from what i heard some of the scenes in this movie were actually in 1 of the books but they decided not to include it. i guess since they put it in this movie we can see why they didnt lol
Did you know that Jurassic Park III's director designed Boba Fett?
The excuse for dinosaur design is the genetic slot machine they used to fill oin gaps.
No feathers -> amphibian genes
bigger specimen than fossils of same species -> no pure DNA
In that sense the dinosaurs were more realistic than you'd expected.
Camouflage? Sure, got squid DNA
Low body temeprature? Sure, some frog DNA
etc.
0:24 poor guy
Actually, it was the Spinosaur that killed the guys on the boat.
it din't just walk on it's arms it could walk on it's back legs also baryonx (anouther spinosaurid) has been found with other dino bones in it's stomach soo spinosaurs probbly did
Reviewers always bash JP3 as if Lost World is any better
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm jp3 is way way way worse then the lost world....
+Veloci Rascal the only thing better about Lost World is Jeff Goldblum
Bandit, I KNOW I'm gonna see a video about that BADASS Mad Max trailer!!!
Action Faction Actually, I wasn't sure whether I should bother, since I already covered a lot of it..........but now you've convinced me, so I will :D gotta REPRESENT for the wasteland!
BanditIncorporated For good reason. It was AMAZING! Don't hear an Australian accent tho..
Billy should have been Timothy, (Hammond's grandson from the first movie) as Grant was an idol to him.
killum109 Hell yes! That would have been perfect!
indeed at the time the only info about the spino was photos of a partial skeleton the spine, a femour, and ah part of the skull :v
Hey! STOP RIGHT THERE!! How dare you say no one played with a toy spinosaur. I always made the toy kill the trex toy!
Loved the use of Eminems Role Model in the background! Great review, I gotta agree, Jurassic Park 3 is worse than Lost World, despite the pterodactyls^^
The spino vs trex fight was short but I have no problem with it and as a kid I loved this movie
